Brickbat: What Did You Call Me?

People in New York City can now be fined if they use the term illegal alien with the "intent to demean, humiliate or harass a person." The city government has also banned discrimination based on English proficiency and made it illegal to threaten to call immigration authorities on someone "based on a discriminatory motive." Those found guilty of these offenses may also receive fines up to $250,000.

It seems someone in NY saw may have seen my post yesterday morning and is doubling down. You're move California.
I think they're just trying to solve the biggest problem that city has with illegal aliens, people being mean to them.
Y'know, I haven't heard of any buses headed towards San Francisco yet. Maybe they could put some illegals in some of those empty stores they have...
I get paid more than $120 to $130 every hour for working on the web. I found out about this activity 3 months prior and subsequent to joining this I have earned effectively $15k from this without having internet working abilities Copy underneath site to..

Make sure to tell them that they are free to take anything they want from any store shelves, as long as they keep it under $950.
Wait, Illinois will probably say "hold my beer" first.
The triumvirate of stupid: California, Illinois, and New York.
Well they can have all of the "illegals" they are so concerned about.
[Put the hate speech fine on my tab]
Wait, Illinois will probably say “hold my beer” first.
I didn't say illegal immigrants, I said IL-legal immigrants! [cue your choice of "Die Bart Die!" and "Boo-urns!" Simpsons clip]
$23 Million Worth Of Tech Was Lost Or Stolen From Chicago Public Schools
Approximately $23 million worth of tech devices were lost or stolen from Chicago Public Schools in just one year.
A report from Chicago Public Schools revealed that during the 2021-2022 school year, Chicago schools lost more than 77,000 laptops, iPads, printers, Wi-Fi hotspots, and even interactive whiteboards.
Local news reports the school system said the devices were thrown out because they were old.
"The typical lifespan of a computer is five years. Many of the lost assets were thrown out by schools due to their age," the statement said.
The Chicago Public Schools inspector general, however, says the system for tracking lost or stolen devices is flawed.

New York Officials Are Encouraging People To Mask Up Again
State health officials released a statement this week encouraging New Yorkers to once again wear masks in health care settings, hospitals, and nursing homes.
The officials cited an increase in hospitalizations for COVID, RSV, and flu as the reason why people should wear masks.
“With all three major respiratory viruses currently circulating at these levels, today we support health care providers, hospitals, and nursing homes doing everything they can to protect patients and their workforce, and recommend that health care and residential facilities advocate strongly for the use of masks within their facility to prevent transmission and ensure a healthy workforce,” the statement said.
Hospitals owned by the state of New York reinstituted their mask mandate instituted last week.

That's two for NY.
Protecting the medically vulnerable is reasonable.
Universal mask mandates are not.
It’s so you can’t identify the illegal aliens who rob you.
Well, reason 2,378 to not live in NYC.
Any specific people behind these policies, Mr. Oliver?
How does this square with prosecutorial reform and overpolicing?
An unconstitutional sop to the favored crowd in penance for slowing the influx from Abbott and DeSantis.
I found a weird reference in the CNN article to the President hating people, which was explained by this:
A bit late to the party, Reason. NYC doesn't even have the same mayor anymore as it did then.
use the term illegal alien with the "intent to demean, humiliate or harass a person."
But we can still use that term to "accurately describe" an illegal alien, right?
Or must we return to wetback?
Foreign Nationals, Welfare Pirates, Marauders... I mean, I've got no problem with 'sand people' or 'wetbacks', but it all seems like punitive hair splitting to me.
Better to call them "vermin" or "poison."

Warrants have been issued for Phil Collins' arrest.
The inmates have taken over.

'...freedom of speech may not be infringed (except in NY and CA)..."
Well, at least this culture war got a notation in the brickbats. Back to our regularly scheduled 3000 word thinkpiece on DeSantis' latest maneuver.
Phil Collins is so busted

Do you like Phil Collins?
Shhhh... Phil says:
Now don't tell anybody what I wanna do
If they find out you know that they'll never let me through.
Saw Phil at Pine Knob in summer 1985 during the No Jacket Required tour, as I recall. Never deliberately listened to him since, until finding this music video.
That’s OK I’m sure the law applies equally for instance, if you say hateful, demeaning or insulting things against white people… Oh wait, never mind you can trash white people all you want! Because reverse racism isn’t racism, or whatever double-think nonsense Liberals believe in.

At least unconstitutional. Boorish perhaps depending on your point of view, but in no way is this not protected under the first amendment.
