Three Halloween skeletons posed to look like they're dancing. | Julia Gatewood | Dreamstime.com

Efforts by city officials in Granstville, Utah, to remove a Halloween decoration of a pole-dancing skeleton seem to have backfired. The city posted on Facebook that the display, which was attached to a street sign, had to be removed. The post got quite a bit of negative feedback, which may be why the city deleted it. But people just started leaving GIFs of dancing skeletons in comments on the city's other Facebook posts. Meanwhile, Christopher Fujushin, the creator of the original display, moved it to his front yard and added lights, music, and more skeletons. His neighbors have also donated items to make the display even bigger.

So – who is turned on by this display?

Welcome to modern journalism in identity politics. A while back, Robby did the same thing about a "erotic" mural painted by a homosexual decades ago depicting a labor dispute where the scabs were dragged to a cemetery, stripped, and beaten to death.

So the kids they dance and shake their bones
    And the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
    Ashes, ashes, all fall down

    1. BrianL.   2 years ago

The last verse from that song:

      Shipping powders back and forth
Singing black goes south and white comes north
And the whole world full of petty wars
Singing I got mine and you got yours
While the current fashions set the pace
Lose your step, fall out of grace
The radical, he rant and rage
Singing someone got to turn the page
And the rich man in his summer home
Singing just leave well enough alone
But his pants are down, his cover's blown
      And the politicians throwing stones
So the kids, they dance, they shake their bones
'Cause it's all too clear we're on our own
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
      Ashes, ashes, all fall down

      1. Dillinger   2 years ago

most of the time Bobby really got into the last verse.

    Well, at least it doesn't objectify a woman's body - - - - - - - - - -

    1. mad.casual   2 years ago

All the skeletons giving an unreal depiction of beauty because none of them are big boned will probably be what winds up getting the display canceled.

  7. Idaho-Bob   2 years ago

Meanwhile, Christopher Fujushin, the creator of the original display, moved it to his front yard and added lights, music, and more skeletons. His neighbors have also donated items to make the display even bigger.

Finally an example of FYTW going in the right direction. Refreshing.

Dem bones, dem bones gonna dance around
Dem bones, dem bones gonna dance around
Now hear de word of de Lord!

  9. Dillinger   2 years ago

    throw Alice on the pile:

I believe them bones are me
Some say we're born into the grave
I feel so alone, gonna end up a big ol' pile of them bones

  10. Agammamon   2 years ago

While I accept that there's a slippery-slope here and a line has to be drawn somewhere - I think the Schelling Fence could come some place after 'pole-dancing skeleton'.

Which isn't even, IMO, risque. It *alludes* to something risque.

    1. Its_Not_Inevitable   2 years ago

I dunno. Did you click the link? There's something about that femme skelley. And it's topless AND bottomless!

      1. mad.casual   2 years ago (edited)

Dude, purple hair. It’s probably one of those feminist skeletons that’s stripping to support her Twitter, coke, *and* abortion habits.

        1. mad.casual   2 years ago

I guess I should be more clear, probably one of those feminist skeletons that's stripping to support her Twitter, coke, *and* abortion habits and is certain she knows better than all men and most women how to fix the gender pay gap, healthcare, childhood education, racism, and the environment while making everyone millionaires.
