Brickbat: A Tax on Learning

In the United Kingdom, the Labour Party has promised to place a value-added tax on private school tuition if it takes power after the next election, which is scheduled to take place before the end of 2024. The tax is forecast to bring in some £1.7 billion ($2.06 billion) and could raise private school fees up to 20 percent. Labour Party officials said they would use the money to help fund government schools.

Help increase funding to government schools that obviously have declining attendance.

I'm sure it makes perfect sense to the people running the public schools. I'm a little surprised it took this long.
They're making it more and more evident that government is just the name we give the biggest gang of thieves. You have to pay a hefty fee to not use our services, otherwise we couldn't afford to offer you the service.
It's not REALLY about "education", it is about GOVERNMENT ALMIGHTY CONTROLLED education!
In my state, there are real estate taxes on private schools, used to fund... Pubic schools! (That's where ya learn about all of that them thar pubes of yourn, and of udders.)
Butt those taxes are only on SECULAR private schools, NOT the religious private schools! When my kiddo was attending a secular private school, I told the owners that they should declare themselves to be the "Non-Denominational Church of the No-Real-Estate-Taxes School", or some such!
The left hates the idea of losing control of indoctrination.
The 'Labor' party likes to feed off the labor of others.
My most recent pay test was for a 12-hour-per-week internet job for $9,500. For months, my sister’s friend has been making an average of 15,000, and she puts in about 20 hours every week. As soon as I gave it a try, I was shocked at how simple it was.

Well, the schools could use government school results to prove there is no 'value added' by schooling, so the tax would be zero.
A value-added tax on services belies the very definition of value-added tax. Clearly the British Labour Party attended government schools.
So... basically the opposite of the School Choice movement in the US? Makes sense.
Want to bet the US Anti-School Choice movement is taking notes?

The stupidity in arming commerce through crony socialism.
Tell me your schools are failing without actually saying they're failing.
