Brickbat: Schoolyard Brawl

Police in Iowa have charged Erin Michelle Aalfs, a former teacher at Moravia Elementary School, with two counts of simple assault and one count of interference with official acts causing serious injury. Police said Aalfs kicked and threw rocks at a preschool student and tossed the student towards a chain-link fence on the playground during school hours. Aalfs resigned sometime after the incident.

Police go on to say that Aalfs resisted their attempts to arrest her on March 29, and a sheriff's deputy sustained minor injuries as a result.

Sounds like this is exactly the sort of person you would want as a pre-school teacher.

I remember our gym teacher's annual blowup at the class to put us in our place. A golf club was thrown across the gymnasium at least once. Other violence was threatened. That was part of my education in Iowa.

I remember one year when we really pissed him off, and he declared "Fuck the school board, I got tenure! Now drop and give me fifty more!"
