Brickbat: The Roads Are Dangerous Here After Dark

Michigan State Police troopers Ryan Fitzko, Cody Lukas, and Justin Simpson have been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery for their actions during the arrest of a man for riding a bicycle after dark without lights. Lukas has also been charged with felony misconduct in office. The man was taken to the ground and kicked and punched several times after he tried to ride away from the officers.

Maybe just a warning and telling him to stay off the road would suffice? Then again, anyone that lives in Flint or Detroit get's what the deserve.

Those idiots riding around in the dark may cause quite a bit of trouble for drivers. They can be a big distraction. And they give us regular, well lit cyclists, a bad reputation. They don't deserve a beating, but they should probably have the bike confiscated until daylight

This is a tricky case because it's Michigan. If the rider voted for widmer then no harm done, as (d) are not human and have no rights.
