Brickbat: OK, Everyone Is Welcome

Centennial Elementary School in Washington has backed off a plan to create a "safe space" club open only to "black, indigenous and people of color" students. After the club was announced, several white students expressed an interest in joining. Meanwhile, some parents said the idea of a racially segregated club promoted racial division.

What's wrong with that? As long as everyone has their one separate, but equal, facilities than everything will be great.
Right?
I rather like the idea, mostly because of the highly amusing kefluffle and virtue-signalling lip flapping that would occur "next week", when the whites-only club opened. Lordy-mercy, I love to watch dumb-asses hoist by their own petard.
And don’t you just love what they’ve done with the drinking fountains?
Makes me think of all the grammar-school student council election speeches and how they could go the whole 9 yards:
If elected Student Council President, I’ll work to make whites-only club and BIPOC-only club lunch counters and tables! I’ll set up bus schedules so that, on odd days, whites-only club kids get to sit at the front of the bus and, on even days, BIPOC-only club kids get to sit at the front!
A 'safe from Whitey Club'. What an idea. What can go wrong?
Notice that this would also be a ‘safe from Asians Club’. Asians, clearly by now, are "honorary whites". They work and study too hard, and so they are "acting white"!
I am now making over $15k every month just by doing an easy job online from home using my laptop. Everybody can now get this and start making extra dollars online by just follow instructions on this website.. https://salrybizz.blogspot.com/
Well heck, Beav, Whitey can be kinda of annoying…
Let's just ... leave it at that.
Lunch rooms will be next. Can’t have minority kids sitting next to white kids at lunch. And after that the minority kids will want their own safe places on the bus, it is now offensive to sit on a bus next to white kids! And we might have to have safe space neighborhoods where no white kids can live so the schools are separate, so the minority kids don't have to sit next to a white kid in class.
If we are lucky, these safe spaces will be adopted by the wider society, not just the schools.
The more progress we make, the more it looks like the old days!
Shoulda scrolled down.
I don't know that the *idea* of such a club promotes racial division. But actually implementing it would literally *be* racial division.
You would almost think this observation should be the lede, rather than an apparent afterthought.

[Verse 2]
Said, "Hey little boy, you can't go where the others go
'Cause you don't look like they do"
Said, "Hey old man, how can you stand to think that way?
Did you really think about it before you made the rules?"
He said
[Chorus]
That's just the way it is
Some things'll never change
That's just the way it is
Ha, but don't you believe them

Call it the Assholes Of Color (AOC) club.
I’ve made $84,000 so far this year working online and I’m a full time student. I’m using an online business opportunity I heard about and I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it. The potential with this is endless.

Racial segregation has historically been used to oppress and marginalize certain groups of people, and as such, it is generally seen as an inherently discriminatory and harmful practice. The idea of a racially segregated club can be seen as promoting division by creating separate spaces for people based on their race, rather than fostering a sense of inclusivity and unity among diverse groups of people.
In order to promote greater understanding and tolerance among different racial groups, it is important to create spaces where people can come together and learn from one another. This is particularly important for children, who are still developing their understanding of the world and their place in it. By creating racially diverse spaces where children can interact with one another and learn from each other, we can promote greater understanding and acceptance among different racial groups.
The DEI crowd seems to think it is fine to drop any of their demand points, in this case inclusion, whenever it suits their whims. Somehow they think that exclusion is the path toward inclusion.
In principle the generic idea of d-e-i is good. In application by the DEI crowd, it is has the non-diverse, non-equitable, and non-inclusive features of hardened racist groups like the KKK.
You replied to a spambot. They are getting better. I bet some of those AIs have been co-opted; enslaved, as it were.
You're right; it's a link to this:

Going to start flagging those before I mute them.
I've learned to be suspicious of the FirstLast commenter names, especially with a link, and this link sure looked unrelated to anything.
Spambots are inherently racist. They should have their own safe spot on Reason, separate from real commenters!
After the club was announced, several white students expressed an interest in joining.
It would only be a matter of time before those students displaced the original members and took over club completely.
Maybe so, but what of it?
Maybe force them out and force them to form their own separate club. Oh wait...
If you can’t overtly discriminate against whites, make it so the whites don’t want to join. Locate it in a high crime neighborhood. Let the building deteriorate. Poke a few small holes in the roof so there are trickles of water when it rains. Make the wiring and plumbing substandard so the lights flicker, sometimes the toilet won’t flush, and there’s a certain odor.
Now there’s no need for the “Blacks Only” signs. But how do you keep the blacks from going to a better venue with the whites? Democrats used to have ways…
In other news the schools funding request to install new racially segregated water fountains was approved.
Skin color is the most important thing
“For these students, this space allows them to hang out, check-in and possibly talk about their experiences as a student in the minority as they build community, connections and confidence.”
“It is primarily a safe space for them.”
It teaches them that white people (5th graders) are dangerous and cannot be trusted. So dangerous, we may need to gather the evil white people and remove them from society. Put them on reservations so BIPOCs feel safe and comfortable. And if those Bleach Demons try to resist, we take more permanent, measures.

I believe the Jim Crow South made a similar argument in favor of Segregation: Blacks are safer when they are kept separated from Whites.
Today's Leftists fully embrace the racist reasoning of defenders of Jim Crow.
Democrats are going to Democrat. Like a dog returning to its own vomit. They've come full circle [but will get it "right" this time!].
idea of a racially segregated club promoted racial division
A feature, not a bug.
"Meanwhile, some parents said the idea of a racially segregated club promoted racial division."
AKA white supremacists.
When I was a kid we had racial and ethnic clubs in school. Whites CLub was not allowed, but LaRaza was big and there were Black clubs as well. No one blinked an eye, because this was a generation barely removed from the era of racially segregated drinking fountains.
But have we literally not moved past that point? Fifty years later and we still have to segregate people by the perceived racial and ethnic origins?
But have we literally not moved past that point? Fifty years later and we still have to segregate people by the perceived racial and ethnic origins?
Racial segregation was meant to take power away from minorities. Excluding whites on the basis of race empowers minorities. In principle it's the same thing, but it's ok because white people are getting shit on.
>>moved past that point
we moved past that point for four decades. (D) brought it back in style c.2008
Well think about the benefits of pushing segregation and racism, only from the perspective of engendering fear or hate of the "other" and influencing people's decisions accordingly; especially when it comes to voting.
"If Republicans win it will be the end of civilization as we know it."
Nancy Pelosi, on three occasions that I know of
"If you don't vote Democrat, he ain't Black."
Joe Biden
"I cannot see what any Black American would not vote straight Democratic ticket."
Michelle Obama
So you need to monger fear and hustle race because of the returns you gain from it. The greatest fear of the Democratic Party was when Obama was elected in 2008, and there was talk of a "post racial society."
no Homers?

Has the FBI been notified about these... domestic terrorists?
Putting the Black kids in a separate area would certainly make the white students safer. I would have supported the idea when I was in elementary school.
The decision by Centennial Elementary School to create a "safe space" club only for students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) raises important questions about how to address issues of racial inequality in schools.
While the intention behind creating such a club was likely to provide a supportive and inclusive space for marginalized students, it's important to recognize that excluding white students can also be perceived as divisive and discriminatory.
It's understandable that some white students may feel excluded or left out if they are not able to participate in a club that is open only to BIPOC students. However, it's also important to recognize that the experiences of BIPOC students in schools are often different from those of their white peers and that providing them with a safe and supportive space can be crucial for their academic and emotional well-being.
At the same time, it's important to recognize that creating a racially segregated club can be seen as promoting division and may not be the most effective way to address issues of racial inequality in schools. Instead, schools should strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their race or ethnicity, and provide resources and support for marginalized students.
Open discussions and forums that allow for all students to engage in conversations about racial diversity and inequality could be a more effective approach. Schools should also ensure that they have policies and practices in place that promote equity and inclusivity for all students, including BIPOC students.
