Brickbat: Quenching the Holy Spirit

Officials in the Swiss canton of Geneva have banned evangelical churches that aren't affiliated with the government from baptizing people in Lake Geneva. "Only organizations permitted to have relations with the state can request authorization for a public religious event," said officials in a statement. Religious organizations that don't have governmental approval can conduct events only in private.

Yup. This is the same old Calvinism that Calvinists like to pretend never existed.
We in the US like to pretend that Europe is so enlightened, but there is no First Amendment in Europe. Most governments have established a state religion. Churches and cathedrals are typically maintained by the government through taxes. Which has in some ways hastened the secularization of Europe. This is why I find it ironic that the "Christian Nationalists" want to nationalize their religion. They did that in Europe and look what happened.
I without a doubt have made $18k inside a calendar month thru operating clean jobs from a laptop. As I had misplaced my ultimate business, I changed into so disenchanted and thank God I searched this easy task (svr-16) accomplishing this I'm equipped to reap thousand of bucks simply from my home. All of you could really be part of this pleasant task and will gather extra cash on-line

A friend of mine took a job in Switzerland, and while filling out paperwork, and thinking as an American (British ex-pat, actually) simply checked Protestant (perhaps Anglican?) on some paperwork she needed to file along the way. Next thing you know, she's paying a tax to support the appropriate denomination in CH... not that she's a churchgoer (to the best of my knowledge). Even in Switzerland, certain basic rights are not recognized.
This is what havein an established religion actually means.
C’mon man, this isn’t near as bad as a coach praying on the 50 yard line!
It's actually kind the same, just that here in the US no religions are permitted to have a relationship with the state, so all public ceremonies are banned and they all must conduct events in private.
That's what the left wants, correct? To eliminate all public displays of religion?
Except for the Green Goddess.
You left off the part about private citizens illegally robbing children of their transgendered Thetans.

Green Goddess Mother Earth is the ultimate MILF with whom the state wants relations.
Didn't Jesus himself say "Tithe unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"?
Did he mean the casino?
Didn't some stupid with a flare gun burn the place to the ground?

How in the world is that relevent here?
Two,I doubt you even know what that means.
The state has commanded that you shall have no other gods before it.
Scienfoology Song… GAWD = Government Almighty’s Wrath Delivers
Government loves me, This I know,
For the Government tells me so,
Little ones to GAWD belong,
We are weak, but GAWD is strong!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!
GAWD does love me, yes indeed,
Keeps me safe, and gives me feed,
Shelters me from bad drugs and weed,
And gives me all that I might need!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!
DEA, CIA, KGB,
Our protectors, they will be,
FBI, TSA, and FDA,
With us, astride us, in every way!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!
It's OK if you don't believe in Swiss Cantons, they don't believe in you.
We should be more like Europe.
Oh, they mean the *other* Lake Geneva.
It’s not the same I’m afraid
Build your own lake!
Geneva doesn't have jurisdiction over the whole lake. I assume this rule only applies within the jurisdiction of the city itself.
"Only organizations permitted to have relations with the state . . . "
I thought the state fucked over all organizations
And that's exactly what is happening here.
doesn't seem very neutral.
Brandybuck actually gets this right. You're reading it with an American, 1A, religious freedom *or* religious, pro-freedom sensibility, not a no-1A, atheist, anti-liberty sensibility.
The law, as quoted, isn't "(Some) Evangelicals can't use the lake for religious purposes." it's "No group not recognized by the state can apply for a permit (to use the lake, for religious purposes)."
Switzerland only takes sides when Switzerland is at stake. also I'd do midnight drive-by baptismals just to fuck with authorities.
Switzerland only takes sides when Switzerland is at stake.
Right. This isn't an anti-evangelical law, it's a pro-Switzerland and equally anti-everything else law (which I'm not entirely opposed to, but this particular implementation is stupid).
>>pro-Switzerland
I asked Martina Hingis out once while she was signing an autograph I got a smile but no date
Hey! Atheism is not synonymous with anti-1A or anti-liberty.
If consenting adults want to dunk themselves into "The Tragedy of the Commons" for religious shits-and-giggles, I have no objection. Just don't make me pay for your skin disease and don't inflict any of that on kids.
No BLM or Antifa movements in Switzerland either, WAAAAAAaaahhhhhhh.
