Anthony Fauci Says If We Could Do It Again, COVID-19 Restrictions Would Be 'Much, Much More Stringent'
The White House's coronavirus adviser answered questions about mask mandates, gain of function research, and more.

When asked what he would do differently if he could go back in time to the beginning of the pandemic, White House coronavirus advisor Anthony Fauci said that he would recommend "much, much more stringent restrictions" from the get-go.
"If I knew in 2020 what I know now, we would do a lot differently," said Fauci in an interview on Monday. "The insidious nature of spread in the community would have been much more of an alarm, and there would have been much, much more stringent restrictions in the sense of very, very heavy encouragement of people to wear masks, physical distancing, what have you."
Fauci made these remarks during an interview on Rising, the news show I co-host for The Hill. When asked about the return of mask mandates in various parts of the country, Fauci conceded that the cloth masks that most people were required to wear indoors throughout the pandemic do not substantially prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
"Right now, we are very, very clear that masks do work in prevention of acquisition and transmission," said Fauci. "But you've got to get a well-fitted mask that is of a high quality. And the two we know are high quality are N95 and KN95."
Fauci also disputed the term "gain of function" in a conversation about whether it is necessary for the U.S. government to fund the kind of research that many experts worry might have produced—or might one day produce—a pandemic on the level of COVID-19. Watch the full interview here.

In a recent interview, Fauci clearly explained why no one should ever again vote for any democrat for any office.
In fairness to democrats, Fauci was put in that role by a republican.
That didn't make him an odious lying monster, he did that to himself.
And then Fauxi caught the deep state virus and sent an e-mail to the loser of the 2016 election, expressing his love for her.
I'm sitting here in my first day of Covid isolation and I still can't wrap my mind around Fauci and all his every changing, the sky is falling, proclamations.
If instead of giving what ifs he had just said they were wrong, I could at least have some respect.
Covid 19 is FAKE ! CVHOAX COM
Generally speaking, Republicans showed a willingness to question and challenge Fauci's ever changing guidance while Democrats were all too ready to mandate everything coming out of his ever-changing mouth.
How much of that played out as a consequence of the reaction (mostly by the "resistance" types from what I saw) to trump which turned a single individual into the fulcrum of the worldview adopted by tens of millions of Ameticans, as well as the state/local governments in many areas.
I halfway suspect that if trump had come out in support for the lockdowns and restrictions on religious services, Gavin Newsom and the authorities in L.A. County would have attempted to make church attendance mandatory instead of shutting the parks and beaches (where it was literally always knowable that Covid would be almost impossible to spread whether it was airborne or spread via fomites or anything in between)
If Trump had declared himself a Communist, Newsom would have become a devoted free-market advocate.

I mean... he was massively anti-free trade. That didn't make the left pro-free trade. It just made everything expensive.
Free trade when you have the reserve currency is simply a recipe for de-industrializing the USA.
As Ross Perot said years ago, you would hear a whoosh as jobs leave the USA.
Economist Robert Triffin described it in the early 1960s. The Triffin Dilemma says that the reserve currency country will run perpetual trade imbalances as the relative value of it's currency is artificially high. It will export currency and import goods and services. Until it loses reserve status.
It’s California, so no mandatory church attendance. Instead you would be required to participate in an orgy.
As a former (Thank you God) resident of California, I would say you are wrong. Mandatory attendance at a Wiccan or Satan worshiper festival would be required.
True that.
Nah. Just kiss Pelosi's ass in front of a Catholic Bishop.
They did. Jan 2020 Trump imposed travel restrictions and the Left attacked him for it.
Only because those travel restrictions were on foreign nationals

Actually no, he wasn't "put in that role by a republican", he was hired by the NIH as a clinical associate in 1968, then worked his way up the ladder such that he's been offered the position of Director of the NIH several times, but he declined each time. He's simply a life-long bureaucrat with an M.D.
What he doesn't have is an understanding of the Constitution or the proper role of government. Further, he funded the creation of the virus, and IMHO has blood on his hands.
This is not to say that he's done a good job at managing the department he's been running, or that his choices during Covid have been less than disastrous.
That said, his job isn't to worry about the limits of the government or the constitution. His job is to give advice to policy-makers with emphasis trying to achieve a particular outcome. It's the job of the legislature executive branch policy makers to balance the different factors that they're getting advice on how to maximize, and to keep their policy responses within the limits of the established Law and the US Constitution.
Someone in a position like Fauci's might do a much better job at making realistic policy recommendations if he were to consider the limits of what the gov't is allowed to do and how it's allowed to do them, but ultimately it's someone else's responsibility to ensure that what really gets done is within the limits of governmental authority.
Fauci has had a career filled with misteps but kept getting promoted. Even Robert Kennedy has a book against fauci.
Aids, peanut allergies, covid. Major mistakes.
Most GS employees fail up because it's very difficult to get rid of them otherwise.
This article is exhibit #1 on why we should never, ever let people who think like Fauci get near the seat of power. They will trample all over our liberty.
Problem is, most people who don't think like Fauci actively avoid getting anywhere near the seat of power.
Most anti-authoritarians wouldn't be caught dead seeking positions of authority, or positions that might create opportunities to exercise authority.
The Peter Principle.
Should it be re-named to: That thing that even women can have Principle?
Deep State Apparatchik all the way.
Much like Biden, he's been ruling Americans for half a century.
Who then did not shy away from telling everyone what they could and could not do with no consideration for the collateral damage.
And, he's still at it.
Not firing Fauci was Trump’s biggest mistake.
Not draining the Swamp was Trump's biggest mistake.
If he had done that on Day One with the DOJ and FBI, it's a totally different ball game.
Why have Americans become so passive & subservient?
Why is the Chinese government terrified of COVID?
Why is COVID mutating faster than any other disease prior?
Why did you get "vaccinated"?

I didn't.
Why? Because we've conceded the battle to be different and put individual liberty in front of government powers.
Just get on Quora and see the constant attacks from Europeans and others on the U.S.. They love to tell you how they are so much more sophisticated and intelligent. I especially love it when some third world denizen spouts the communist doctrines they've been taught in school.
Reason writers will still support Dems most of the time though.

The evil bastard belongs behind bars.
I’m sure he followed all his own advice and directives, and the little monster still caught the coof.
....after the wood chipper a few times.
Twice. Because paxlovid is that awesome.
Twice.
Once for hydroxychloroquine and once for ivermectin.
Denigration of those early cures, cost untold number of lives.
The blood of all those lives is on Fauxi's and Birx's hands.
Only new expensive anti viral work. Ignore all of the discussions from doctors and other countries.
Reason did.
The follow-on studies for both of those haven't shown any meaningful effectiveness.
Docs tried them early on (and should never have faced criticism for doing so) because there were claims and preliminary indications that they might help, and because they're both widely available and don't have severe side effects when properly administered. Given the "fog of war" that was happening at the time and the parameters of how science is supposed to work, the suppression and censorship of any/all discussion of those meds across multiple platforms is the opposite of what the censors claimed to be doing though.
Thinking that Ivermectin or HCQ are going to save you if you're unlucky enough to actually require serious treatment for the variants of the virus which are currently dominant is insane now that there are more effective antivirals available to most people in the USA.
The problem was that they were tested as a treatment instead of a prophylaxis - they were essentially tested on patients already sick, probably fairly sick, with the virus in the countries where at least Ivermectin was shown effective, it was primarily used as a prophylaxis.
And, of course, we find that the mRNA vaccines, that are only legal under EUAs because these other drugs are not authorized, are less effective. Indeed, right now, the bulk of those catching the virus, and almost all with long COVID-19, or who repeatedly catch the iris, are double vaccinated and, now, boosted.
Your reasoning is flawed and unsupported by reality.
Your reasoning is flawed and unsupported by a citation.
The only thing I heard about Ivermectin was that there were lab studies which showed high-concentrations of the active compound in that drug inhibited the virus in a pitri dish.
Based on that report, some docs started giving Ivermectin as an off-label scrip along with other treatments such as steroids and later monoclonal antibodies (Rogan got all three and one or two other things along with them) because of the low cost and negligible side effects of the Ivermectin; if it helped, great and if not, it wouldn't hurt anyone.
The problem likely is that the concentrations of the drug used in the culture testing are too high to dose for humans. Studies done since have apparently showed that use of "human-dosage" levels of Ivermectin has no noticeable effect as a treatment for Covid infections.
HCQ is a bit of a different scenario. There was some thinking that it might have a prophlactic effect based on the realtively low rates of severe Covid disease in places where HCQ is commonly used to protect from Malaria; problem is, the overall populations in those areas are also much younger and likely spend a lot more time outdoors. Again, it was another case of Docs using and prescribing it because it's got minimal side effects when administered properly and early on the cost/benefit calculus was that there was no real danger and some possibility of a benefit; from what I heard, up to 1/4 of all ER docs/nurses were taking it themselves hoping it provided some kind of protection.
The trouble with use for prophylaxis is that there's so many variables around exposure conditions that it's hard to isolate one factor in real-world trials. Even for the vaccines, only incidence of severe symptoms was tracked in the "effectivity" trials, there was never really significant data about what level of protection the shots created against incidence of asymptomatic or mild disease in those exposed to the virus after inocculation, nor was there ever any evidence to support claims that the Covid shots would create actual "herd immunity" or otherwise prevent the spread of the virus.
The effectiveness of anti-virals such as hydroxychloroquine is always subject to early treatment. Somewhat like stopping a rolling train it is a lot easier before it gains momentum.
In places where Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin were administered early they showed good results. It was also shown that zinc sulfate taken with them provided better results. In the studies where they were administered later, particularly without zinc in hospital settings they were not very effective.
"are double vaccinated and, now, boosted."
Yep. That's me. And I'm sitting here with Covid.
The problem, Bruce, is that you're a fucking idiot.
Which studies are you referring to? The most famous 3 were involving already hospitalized patients. That's not when anti virals have effectiveness.
Everyone I've heard talking about using ivermectin has said that it should be taken, along with zinc, as soon as you start having symptoms. I haven't seen studies on that application (which doesn't mean they don't exist).
I'm sure he _didn't_, because he knows perfectly well they're all nonsense.
He deserves to be strung up on a gas station gantry.
No, he should be in for life without medical treatment and his wealth should be confiscated as it was criminally obtained.
Encouraging greater use of a mitigation that he admits doesn't work is quite a take. Tar and feathers is too good for this asshole.
How about tar poured directly into the asshole? The feathers can be used to make a little decorative 'tail'.
Is that how you make a Sarah Palin Buttplug?
Well next time it has to be a completely forced shut down globally too. One world response.
How about tar and lit matches?
If the tar is the correct temperature the subject does not survive the tarring. The feathers are just to make it easier to drag the dead body around town behind a horse, and it's funny.
*Nelson Muntz*: Ha-Ha!
They used pine tar back in the day. Melting point is around 130-140F, so it would hurt and cause some burns but it wouldn't kill you.
Woodchipper. Feet first.
We need a robot that inserts the "branch" to be chipped at a predetermined speed. I'm thinking 1mm an hour?
If you ask the man on the street and the political machines that feed them, they'll tell you the mitigation used may not be perfect but it did work to some degree. To have done nothing would have been a crime they'll say.
In their next breath, they'll tell you no government can tell them what to do.
I fall back to my old axiom that this is the result we get from years of supporting public education in its current form.
We're really just Planet of the Apes and we use public education to sort them out by species so they can be properly assigned their place in our society.
Well... I wish him well in his retirement. Thanks for your handling of AIDS.
Don't let him forget the peanut allergy explosion.
"handling of AIDS"
100% Reagan's fault.

Fauci was the leading medical "expert" during that era.
Genuine evidence of why technocrats are not the correct people to make policy.
This dude has zero insight into human nature and is such a prevaricating bureaucratic weasel it's amazing. He never says anything clearly -- on purpose. Like this shit, "encouraging" "strongly" and the like, so later he can say "I never said we would force masking" if he gets called on it. But, in fact, his words force masking
With Aids I remember. He had peopl emy age scared shitless they were going to get aids. You HAD to wear a condom or you'd get aids. Even if you were in a committed relationship you'd get aids without condoms.
It took until maybe 5 years ago before the CDC finally admitted that the heterosexual Aids epidemic never happened. Meanwhile, the clap and the herp dog increased, and people's normal sexual lives were overtaken by condom virtue signalling... So many adverse societal effects, but you can't go back on it when you learn because then you look weak.
This weasel should have been fired then, should have been fired 18 years ago, should have been extra fired a year ago. Instead he's the highest earning federal employee and when he is dragged from his post his pension will be 100K a year higher than the president's salary.
If we had to do it all over again you might see Fauci’s rotting head I lacked on a pike mounted on the Capitol steps.
You talk like he never treated any Covid patients...wait, he didn't.
Now we have Monkeypox. Again almost exclusively in the Gay community, is being sold as just as much a threat to the heterosexual community.
Because we've never seen a virus start out in the gay community and threaten the heterosexual community...
Sure. But when the mode of transmission appears to be promiscuous anal sex, it isn’t very likely. After figuring out the hemophiliac problem with gay men donating blood, HIV quickly became understood to be a homosexual and bisexual disease.
Of course, the denial of this reality is why contact tracing, as is typically required with (other) STDs was not enforced, until much too late.
Magic Johnson
So, he liked the booty?
Do you have some great insight into his bedroom activities?
Because we've never seen a virus start out in the gay community and threaten the heterosexual community...
We haven't.
More people have died from covid than have died from AIDS. By a huge margin.
But you go ahead and spread that bullfauci.
I have no dog in the fight, but the number of worldwide COVID deaths stands at about 6.4M. Many of those were co-terminal with other underlying life-threatening health conditions or extreme old age. Not to mention that, at least in the US, one statistically died from COVID regardless of the actual cause if they tested positive.
AIDS has killed an estimated 48M people (out of about 110M total infected).
I've written several commentaries to local newspaper articles where they dance around the anal sex/homosexuality issue so as to make it a global issue rather than something generally more specific.
Of course I get attacked as being homophobic, bigoted, unfeeling.
No. Not nearly. I'm just a realist. During the AIDS fiasco, shutting down the SF bath houses was the best medicine.

Double? I believe we have already passed 2^34.
That's because it works.
Pols have done it effectively forever. Deny, deny, deny. If you still get caught, just disappear for a while, remake yourself and stage a comeback.
Why are so many worried about Trump in 24?
Fuck Fauci and his enablers in Congress and the White House. Never will vote for anyone who allowed this man to wield power.

You're new plan would be to very, very stringently encourage much, much more wearing of masks and social distancing...
and all of the citizens of the world say fuck you!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!!
Did he mention anything about avoiding all the misinformation he disseminated, including some on purpose?
This article lists several Fauci's "noble lies".
https://slate.com/technology/2021/07/noble-lies-covid-fauci-cdc-masks.html
When experts or agencies deliver information to the public that they consider possibly or definitively false to further a larger, often well-meaning agenda, they are telling what is called a noble lie. Although the teller’s intentions may be pure—for example, a feeling of urgency that behavioral change is needed among the lay public—the consequences can undermine not only those intentions but also public trust in experts and science. During the first year of COVID-19, leaders were faced with an unknown disease amid a politically sensitive election in the era of social media, and the preconditions for noble lies became especially fertile. Not surprisingly, we witnessed several examples. More than anything, these examples illustrate the destructive potential of such lies.
Noble lies—small untruths—yield unpredictable outcomes. Nietzsche once wrote, “Not that you lied to me, but that I no longer believe you, has shaken me.” Public health messaging is predicated on trust, which overcomes the enormous complexity of the scientific literature, creating an opportunity to communicate initiatives effectively. Still, violation of this trust renders the communication unreliable. When trust is shattered, messaging is no longer clear and straightforward, and instead results in the audience trying to reverse-engineer the statement based on their view of the speaker’s intent. Simply put, noble lies can rob confidence from the public, leading to confusion, a loss of credibility, conspiracy theories, and obfuscated policy.
Noble lies are a trap. We cannot predict the public’s behavior, and loss of trust is devastating. The general population is far too skeptical to blindly follow the advice of experts, and far too intelligent to be easily duped.
But, isn't that how we placate our wives when they ask about clothing or accessories they want to wear?
Do these pants make me look fat?
"If I knew in 2020 what I know now, we would do a lot differently,"
Yeah. Instead of maligning contrarian scientists, he'd go full Lysenko and have them executed.
Fauci is as evil as they come.
Amazing how all the anti science message boards were more correct than The Science.
I find it difficult to believe there was any way on God's green Earth to get 7 billion, or even 350 million, people to consistently and correctly wear N95 masks in all settings. He's dreaming. No, more than that, he's delusional.
I don't believe there's any plausible scenario where COVID didn't become endemic. The only question is whether we could develop vaccines fast enough to keep the eventual death count down, which is pretty much what we did. If he had _any_ ability to retrospect or see beyond his own nose he'd realize we could achieve the same outcome with, wait for it, efforts more focused on those at high risk and less stringency for those who are not at any real risk at all.
I find it difficult to believe there was any way on God's green Earth to get 7 billion, or even 350 million, people to consistently and correctly wear N95 masks in all settings. He's dreaming. No, more than that, he's delusional.
And a self-confessed liar.
And a self-confessed liar.
But for your own good.
Well, for Society's Good, which is close enough.
You can get everyone to wear a mask by shooting the noncompliant. It might result in a higher death rate than unmitigated COVID, but at least most of society's wrong-thinkers will be culled, so really it's a great outcome for the authoritarians and their bootlickers.
I had a very good teacher in high school who would use examples like this.
One of his favorites was that you could decrease tailgating by putting very shiny metal knives in the middle of the steering wheel pointed at the driver. Probably wouldn't make things more safe, but it sure would discourage that one behavior!
I had a food science prof when I was in college, Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. The scare of the day was nitrosamines in preserved meats.
He like to point out that, while the most recent studies pointed to the possibility that nitrosamines might cause cancer in some 1 in several million humans who consumed such meats, did anyone consider how many people had died from food poisoning from eating those meats before we routinely added nitrosamines. A subject we had real world, historical data on in humans.
I find it difficult to believe there was any way on God's green Earth to get 7 billion, or even 350 million, people to consistently and correctly wear N95 masks in all settings
In April 2020 our GPOs were paying ~15x the wholesale price for N95's from prior year (and often losing auctions at that amount), and using experimental disinfecting techniques to stretch the ones we did have. "We should have pushed masks harder" and "cloth masks don't work" are mutually exclusive. Fauci, being 100% pure, unadulterated shitweasel, knows this and doesn't care whatsoever. He is a walking, talking exemplar of the Iron Law of Bureaucracy at work.
Does he not remember the N95 shortage? And that the CDC estimated that 60% of K95 masks were fakes? And that N95 masks had to be changed several times a day because they became saturated?
Ask ER nurses how effective masks were. Most ER nurses I've talked to don't think they were very effective.
Dr. Birx is now saying they knew the vaccines wouldn't stop the infections at the time. So they can all fuck off.
link?
https://www.foxnews.com/media/dr-deborah-birx-knew-covid-vaccines-not-protect-against-infection
Thank you. When I hear about stuff like that, I really want to research it before I'm repeating some rando shit on the internet.
I posted the entire quotes over the weekend.
Of course, but they only gave you a link to fox...it might as well have been from MSNBC or the onion.
A direct quote can be biased?
It was simply the first one that came up that had video of the actual interview and quotes of what she said.
When people will automatically be dismissive of the information because of the source, that's when I try to find a reference that is more to their liking and thus they will be more likely to at least *consider* the information I'm trying to relay to them. OTOH, it's easy enough to visit the Fox site, get a quote from Blix, then feed the quote back into google or any other search engine. With the number of sources that would "prove" that she made the statements, surely there's one in there that would be acceptable.
Or just watch the video 🙂
Well, some people would say that Fox doctored the video.
Quick, name all the "news" organizations that have been caught editing/altering video footage they have for effect. That effect is NOT as so many claim, to push a political stance IMHO. It's just to irritate, instigate, aggravate in order to draw a larger audience.
After all, they are in the business of selling news.
Yellow journalism did not die with Hearst.
The original vaccine studies didn't even try to claim that it stopped infections. Which is why the effectiveness was always in terms of stopping serious illness, not infection.
That’s not how it was sold.
The epidemic of the unvaccinated killed all the heathens forcing the virus to mutate to ingect the chaste.
What happened to "two weeks to flatten the curve"?
More than two years later, I'm sitting here with Covid.
Covid is a Coronavirus just like the "common cold" (with hundreds of variants).
We have been working on vaccines for the "common cold" my entire life without success because they mutate so quickly into new variants.
Covid is not going away, it is another "common cold".
Which is an absurd take. The vaccine trials were showing ~95% reduction in symptomatic infections at the time. They were also 100% effective against severe illness, but given how few severe cases there were, even among the control group, it is hard to know the actual effectiveness.
Even in the real world, studies were often coming up with VEs above 80% in populations tested regardless of infection.
Against the ancestral, alpha, and beta versions of the virus, the vaccine did a phenomenal job at preventing infections. Once a substantial portion of the population had immunity though (whether through infection or vaccination), there was evolutionary pressure for the virus to engineer an immune escape, which it partially pulled off in Delta, and fully pulled off in Omicron.
But, if we were to take her word for it, WTF would Biden mandate vaccines in low risk populations if his scientists didn't believe it would stop infections?! That makes the Biden administration seem even more heavy handed and unreasonable than before.
> Even in the real world, studies were often coming up with VEs above 80% in populations tested regardless of infection.
Sorry I meant regardless of symptoms. Obviously, every test is regardless of infection, because if you knew, you wouldn't need the test!
You hit on the core issue of never admitting defeat here.
Against alpha and OG covid, the vaccine was wildly successful. Delta had already evolved before it was widely available and, against infection and spread, it was obviously not as effective. Obviously, as shown by Israeli and UK data plus anecdotal from here. By Omicron that was double obvious.
In a rational world, the "destroy covid forever" strategy would, at that point, have been seen as a dead end. The "Look, man, we'll never defeat animal reservoirs and immune-evading evolution. This needs to be treated like we do the flu" messaging should start and at risk populations should be encouraged to do what's best. There's no longer a compelling interest in vaccinating literally everyone, because vaccination based herd immunity is not possible.
In the "never admit you were wrong" political world we now inhabit, however, you just double down. And triple down. And then demonize anyone who questions you until it gets to the point where skeptics wouldn't accept the medicine you proffered if it came with a $100 bill, and candy bar, and a blow job, just because they no longer trust your lying ass.
But WTF were all the additional shots for? The first shot imprinted the two spike proteins on the immune system. After that, subsequent doses were mostly just seriously overstimulating the immune systems by slamming them with massive doses (in the wrong locations in the body for respiratory viruses) of what the immune systems knew, from the first shot, to be pathogens. At that point, the only real benefit of the subsequent shots was that serious overstimulation of immune systems, providing some protection through general immune defenses, very likely at the cost of crashing the immune systems, and reducing protection against chronic infections and cancers.
I honestly still don't know the point of the boosters. I guess I sort of get it for higher risk and older folks whose immune system isn't quite as strong, to strengthen the protection to be more similar to healthy folk. But, I distinctly remember that the CDC vaccine advisory committee wouldn't go along with a general recommendation for a booster, and was overruled by the head of the CDC.
By the time they were handing out a second booster with the ancestral formula, someone out to have been saying "wait a second...". Heck, from what I remember, when Omicron first entered the scene, the CDC simply skipped talking to its advisory committee before pushing for more boosters.
I hate to make it a partisan thing, but it pisses me off that the Democrats were claiming that Trump would push through a vaccine without verifying safety (remember how California setup their own committee to approve the vaccine), and, yet, the Biden administration has been bypassing the normal process to push through more boosters. They really ought to be getting called out on it.
"WTF would Biden mandate EXPERIMENTAL, UNAPPROVED FOR GENERAL USE vaccines in low risk populations if his scientists didn't believe it would stop infections?"
Good question.
Control of the masses.
Maybe he longs for some pyramids to built in his honor with slave labor? Leave his mark on the world and all that.
I don't buy into conspiricy theories ever. But I have to admit. by late 2021 I was wondering if all the Fauci/Government edicts (I live in CA so we always top the fed) wasn't really some kind of test to see how willing people were to bow before our government. Especially when I saw how friends and neighbors and people in general were obeying without question. And, especially after Newsom and the French Laundry and Pelosi and her hair styling.
All that Marie Antoinette did was say something snobby and rude and it was off with her head.
She also admitted she lied and manipulated data to con the Trump administration (and public) into reacting more stridently than they were inclined to.
Evil bitch.
Fouci did the same thing multiple times, too.
Literally Hitler.
Let's not overdo it. I'm sure Hitler had some redeeming qualities.
Hitler could paint
I heard he wrote a book, too.
Hitler had a dog. Does Fauci?
(@unable2reason) no, just some of those "betters" RevCuntLand keeps talking about /endSarc
(When RevCuntland says something about losing culture wars, he means the center, right and libertarians are losing the totalitarian wars - )
We jump to Hitler too easily. He doesn't have particularly Hitler like qualities at all. We should aim for tighter metaphors rather than the grandest ones.
If you want to compare him to a Nazi he seems more like Adolf Eichmann as described by Hannah Arendt.
Mengele
There you go!
Good point. We so focus on Hitler the evil man these 80 years later, that we forget that he didn't exactly work alone.
There was a cast of supporting characters. And, a populous - even outside of Germany - that was ready willing and able to support that administration.
He was but one part of the most massive crime against humanity ever committed. An important part though.
Hitler was a dog lover. Fauci a Beagle torturer.
Advantage Hitler.

If President Trump had fired this quack (and Birx) in early 2020, he would still be President Trump.
That would have shifted to impeachment 1.
He mightve of actually been convicted too.
Every establishment R would've turned on him with enthusiasm.
"He mightve of actually"
JFC
I'm going to give myself 100 lashes for that atrocity
This is the first time, iirc, that I've committed my #1 grammatical pet peeve - the "of" idiocy.
I'm full of shame and remorse.
Your expressions of penance are accepted, but don't do it again.
whats your view on 'sort of'?
🙂
Never thought about "sort of".
Hmm...
He could have quietly sent him to our facilities in Greenland. Never to be seen again.
Well, he is renowned for his solid decision making.
If Trump could have stayed off of Twitter, and if he had been able t keep his mouth shut for more than 2 seconds during the debates when Joe was in the middle of hanging himself, Trump might still be president.
Shouldn't our top science advisors use, you know, science?
Sure, properly used N95 masks work well to stop transmission of Covid 19. But that was never on the table. It was never going to be on the table. So why are we even discussing it?
What was on the table that might have worked? Well, Florida was doing track, trace and quarantine. Florida aggressively ordered a quarter of a million tests as soon as they were available, when there were only a couple thousand total cases. Track, trace and quarantine is the age-old method. It works to stop early stages of community spread.
Without travel from outside the state, it would have worked. They identified every contact from the people who brought the infection from a cruise ship.
The governor asked the President (and presumably Fauci would have been involved as his top advisor) to block travel from New York. The greatest hero of Covid, Governor Cuomo threatened to sue and had the entire media up in arms. Tens of thousands of new Yorkers fled the raging infection there to Florida.... and track and trace was swamped. Game over.
So we went with "Don't overwhelm the hospital system" we didn't. So we clearly did at least enough, and arguably too much.
This guy is clearly not competent to lead on these issues. He is great at playing politics with research funding. We should learn from this and never allow another J Edgar Hoover situations at one of our agencies.
He should be purely advisory to the legislature and executive. I'm open to the idea that emergency powers may exist for certain things, but that must be for very short-term events and it may very well be safer to not allow them at all.
No, he should be teaching "Introduction to Biology" in a small community college on the outskirts of Tucson, AZ.
Don’t bring that fuckstick here.
Outskirts. Like Casa Grande Adult Continuing Education center.
Not that those poor bastards living in Casa Granda haven't suffered enough. But still...
Just relocate him to a fictional town.
What's Tucson, chopped liver?
Pima Community College was a nice place and I enjoyed my time there. I don't know why you need to bring such evil upon us.
How dare you sir. Keep that east coast trash out of this town.
Pre-COVID I was open to emergency powers. Now I'm completely opposed to ANY emergency powers. Laws should be passed by ELECTED legislators ONLY.
Emergency powers made sense before the internet existed. Now, if we need laws passed quickly then do it on Zoom. There is no need for emergency powers, unless there is a major war. In that case the military chain of command is going to take control anyway.
I don't think track and trace was ever going to work long run. They couldn't do it in New Zealand which is far away from everything. But Florida also did a better job protecting the elderly, which is really what mattered.
Yeah all the track and trace advocates seem to forget that the only places that it "worked" were island nations, or somewhere like South Korea which is basically an island in terms of migration control.
Exactly
But Florida also did a better job protecting the elderly, which is really what mattered.
Not so sure about that. FL had 3,598 deaths per million, just a bit better than NY at 3,660, and 33rd best of the states. CA had 2,365.
Florida has a lot of old people.
We should learn from this and never allow another J Edgar Hoover situations at one of our agencies.
Fauci isn't fit to wear J Edgar Hoover's skirt.
NY cockroaches infiltrated every part of the country. In flyover land of central Missouri NY license plates are very distinctive (black text on yellow background), and quite rare. But Spring of 2020 I'm seeing NY plates multiple times a day. Now back to rare (less than 1 per week). So yeah, NewYorkers were to vermin who spread Covid across the country. That was Cuomo's plan; infect everyone then it is not so much just his problem anymore. And clear out the retirement homes too for good measure by sending infective patients there directly from NY hospitals.
NYorkers are always colonizing Maryland anyway, because anywhere is cheaper than their hellhole. Even my stupidly expensive hellhole.
But I definitely noticed an uptick of plates in 2020. Practically dripping with virus…
“ Sure, properly used N95 masks work well to stop transmission of Covid 19.”
Actually, there is little evidence supporting that. Yes, there are a bunch of papers based on models that presupposed droplet spread, then showed some efficacy of properly worn >=N95 masks. The basic problem was that the virus doesn’t really spread in public that way. The issue is that most droplet spread is for symptomatic carriers, who tend to stay indoors, and often in bed, when they are symptomatic (and, for example, coughing). But much of the spread in public turned out to be asymptomatic and presymptomatic, where the virons are aerosols, and not on droplets, and the virons are better than an order of magnitude smaller than the holes in an N95 mask.
So the double masked and double boosted Fauci gets COVID-19 - again, and said that if he had to do it over again, he would double down on the masking.
Turns out that masking, and esp long term masking, and esp if you don’t switch masks several times an hour, is unhealthy. Read a paper just yesterday on the bacteria and viruses found on the inside of masks worn more than a very short time. And, it is much worse for kids, who don’t need to be protected from the virus, but do need to be protected from both the masks and the vaccines.
There was a huge european study released last month on masks (60+ cities across the EU). Net net: mask mandates did not help, and prolonged mask wearing (6+ hours, in a shift setting or school setting) exposed people to other illnesses and did not lower China virus transmission rate.
Exactly. Once you have Xi flu the mask collects and concentrates virus particles that you then inhale, exacerbating your case. The mask amplifies the viral load.
Isn't that pretty much what China is still doing today?
N95 masks are intended for short time use and require a tight fit. If used for too long or repeatedly they accumulate virus' and bacteria increasing the chances of infection. They also restrict air flow and create a rebreathing air cavity that can reduce blood oxygen levels.
N95 masks won't be effective in wide use and will actually cause illness. They are intended to be used short term, like going into a sick patient's room, and disposed of afterwards.
"...very, very heavy encouragement..."
Orwell is smiling.
"what do you regret more you worthless leprechaun, your record on aids or throwing out the first pitch @Nationals game?"
He's a psychopath. Or at least a sociopath, but I think the former.
These people literally don't feel regret. Or empathy. Or remorse.
He sees humans as data points on a chart.
Exactly.
People without empathy are literally the last people in the world I want to make decisions for me.
I've said it before, I'm not a libertarian, but one of the very libertarian adjacent parts of my ideology is that I don't trust strangers to genuinely have my best interests at heart. Folks like Fauci, even less so. If he weren't the ego-driven, self aggrandizing, asshat he is, I still think he'd see "society" over "people". I'm rather one to say "What the fuck do I care about 'society' if I'm always paying the price and never benefiting?"
"People without empathy are literally the last people in the world I want to make decisions for me."
Yet, in a society with no legitimate violence, and no external predators/threats, psychopathy is the personality trait most beneficial to the individual's success/advancement/promotion at the highest levels.
I still think he'd see "society" over "people"
As he said about the Sturgis Rally, "people need to get over this notion of individual freedom". Yes, he actually said that.
I believe it.
I'll never get over my individual freedom. I am genuinely sad for how much of it has been lost just in my lifetime.
>>>I don't trust strangers to genuinely have my best interests at heart.
this. plus the above.
I'm in California too. And have been going on 66 years.
Even my more Democratic ancestors are rolling in their graves over what's been happening for the last fifty or so years here as far as individualism and personal freedom.
Newsom is driving the steam roller as we post here, like a madman on crack. And, I'll bet he has more support than anyone else.
I'm hanging my head and crying.
The first pitch was classic Fauci; it immediately went hard left, and did nothing.
<i.Anthony Fauci Says If We Could Do It Again, COVID-19 Restrictions Would Be 'Much, Much More Stringent'
If Fauci were a senator, and we weighed him against Josh Hawley on the "illiberal authoritarian" question...
Fauci is far worse, we can't vote fauci out
They'd break the scale.
He might be less powerful though as a Senator.
If Fauci was a Senator, January 6 might have actually had some useful bloodshed.
By "not substantially" he must mean "not at all"?
it is around a 50-60% decrease in transmission. not nothing, but not the game changer many wanted to pretend.
That’s a hopes and dreams number.
Considering the source, it seems like a figure from ipulleditoutofmyass, dot, com.
it is around a 50-60% decrease in transmission.
Science showed no discernable effect. Why do you want so badly for the mask fairies to exist?
No it's not. NOt even normal surgical mask is 50-60%. Surgical mask is 11% effective. Cloth was found to be 0%.
In the real world study in Bangladesh it was actually counter-productive to the alternative of "just do what you normally do".
This is from last year, but I'll keep sharing: https://www.justfacts.com/news_face_masks_deadly_falsehoods
Not transmission, but theoretical transmission based on the, unverified, and likely false, theory that external transmission is mostly via droplets, and not through aerosolized virons.
I've got some virons going. You can use them for study. Where should I send my used masks? All N95s of course. From China. The country that gave the world Covid in the first place.
Fauci also disputed the term "gain of function" in a conversation about whether it is necessary for the U.S. government to fund the kind of research that many experts worry might have produced—or might one day produce—a pandemic on the level of COVID-19. Watch the full interview here.
Fauci falls back on the Queer Theory interpretation of scientific terms.
"What really IS Gain of Function anyway... I mean *waves eyeglasses around* these glasses are 'gain of function' are they not? What IS a woman... really? It's a vibe... kind of like "gain of function". It's a vibe. And when I gave that money to the WuHan lab, were they vibing gain of function? I don't think so... I don't think so... the vibe wasn't there, so I dispute that Gain of Function is really a term we should be using. Why are you so into hierarchies, man? Why you gotta put a label on everything, man?"
"That depends on how you define sex".“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the—if he—if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement. … Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.” - Bill Clinton
Really? He wouldn't use his hypothetical time machine to not fund the eco health alliance and the Wuhan lab?
No one knew in 2020 that a porous piece of cloth wouldn't seal out a microscopic virus?
Everyone with a brain knew.
Had enough of this POS yet? I'm not saying anything here that might get me into serious trouble. Suffice to say, Fauci needs to retire either by choice or by force. That's putting it as mildly as I can.
This man is a megalomaniac and worse, a psychopath. He is evil, evil, evil.
And he hates all of us. There is no decency or goodness in this husk of a human being. He is an empty shell devoid of humanity.
When he dies, he should not be given a funeral. Instead the corpse should be tossed into a dumpster, doused with gasoline and set on fire.
That’s ok we planned on voting this lying piece out of his position next election.
Oh wait. We can’t.
He’s getting an annual pension payout worth more than the President. So we get the privilege of continuing to provide support until his death.
I’ll settle for continuing to do what I’m doing which is ignoring the pompous little shit ????????♀️
So continuing to be almost completely wrong. How the fuck is anyone's takeaway from the past two years, "yeah, we should have done what we did, but harder". Fuck you, you little fucking troll. Yeah, we didn't fuck up children nearly bad enough, or cause enough economic destruction with useless measures and brute force. A lot of people are starting to distance themselves from the policies (which they should not be allowed to do without a lot of reminders of what they did and said). I guess Fauci is sticking to his guns.
"we didn't fuck up children nearly bad enough"
I think about that every time I see my 7 yo granddaughter mask up without question. It's just part of her life now, like putting on a jacket to go outside when it's cold.
But, God forbid I say anything. Her mother and grandmother would have me drawn and quartered and never allowed to see her again. It's all for her own good you know.
I'm looking forward and seeing the long term effects of this. She'll be the perfect little citizen never question her government's mandates.
Nah, kids follow orders until they grow up and learn to rebel. You've got a good decade and a half of opportunity left to teach her that some risks are worth accepting because life is risk.
It's the take of idiots who think that China's zero-COVID policy is simultaneously not an atrocity of human rights and also not doomed to fail anyways since it's endemic in the rest of the world.
Nothing was going to stop the spread of this disease. Nothing. It spreads invisibly and easily through the air. The only real defense is your immune system, or otherwise never coming into contact with anyone ever again. That's the truth that leaders didn't want to say because few were willing to hear it.
Well yes and no. We stopped TB, and I never had to get TB to stop the TB. My vaccine seems to be (so far) sufficient.
We stopped TB with antibiotics you dumb fuck.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a respiratory virus. We have never eradicated a respiratory virus through vaccination, and the odds of doing so by targeting just two of the virus’s proteins are negligible. This sort of reverse RNA virus mutates very easily, as a result of their very simple infection mechanism. Some viruses, and esp DNA viruses, have complex infection mechanisms, and thus most mutations are fatal to the virus. Here, all it took was tweaking, and deoptimizing the spike proteins from their human ACE2 receptor specialization, to mutate around the mRNA vaccines. This was effectively complete in this country by maybe the first of February this year, with the complete replacement of the Delta variant with Omicron variants. It was just a bonus that the spike proteins from the vaccines, that had imprinted immune system memories, no longer matched the spike proteins encountered on the virus (Vaccine Mismatch). No surprise that the bulk of COVID-19 infections these days are of the vaccinated and boosted - and esp reinfections like Fauci encountered.
There were early drugs, that would minimize the effects, but they had to be shit-canned, because that would have stopped the elites from using the Chinaflu to get rid of Trump.
That's what the majority of the exercise was about.
They were shocked that Trump's efforts got a "vaccine" so quickly, but you'll note that the results of testing weren't released until after the election.
I will not comply.
He angry not enough people executed?
Snark aside, I have friends who sort of have this position, that we weren't harsh enough, not stringent enough, etc. They say would should have been more like Europe (except Sweden), more like China (which initially tried to cover everything up).
They have the same mindset as most statists: government can solve all problems if only the right people are in place to impose the correct policies. Never mind that two thirds of my neighborhood were ordered NOT to work and go on the dole instead, because you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. It was there fault for not being a privileged Karen whose husband could work from home.
When big government fails, the solution is bigger government.
Remember everyone: brandybuck bought all the bullshit, and ridiculed anyone who questioned it. It was a full on mask Karen, and never shut the fuck up about how everyone should take the jab, constantly bitching about those damn "antivaxxers"
Yes, it is either a case of
“Now that the truth is known I’ll jump on the bandwagon and pretend I was right all along,”
or
“a real conversion due to learning.”
If it was the latter he would admit and apologize for his errors. So it’s the first.
You can go back a year and check any thread even tangentially related to covid, and there you'll find brandy shilling the vax and calling everyone who objects to mandates conspiracy theorists.
In the meantime, Biden is looking to forgive more student loan debt. An excellent idea at the start of record inflation with what may well turn into stagflation by Christmas.
What could go wrong?
Would Fauci also advise us that the Covid shots wouldn't stop us from getting infected.
Or is Dr Birx lying?
I've no doubt that Fauci and hordes of statist politicians are just itching to do it all over again at the earliest opportunity
clearly they are hence Fauci or his replacement who is probably breathlessly waiting to take over and punish us I mean help us.
Monkey pox
Ding, ding, ding.
Quickly shaping up - according to our trusted governmental advisors and published by our boot licking media moguls - to be the new Aids or even, Covid!
Stay tuned. Report at 11:00. Fauci recommends penis removal for all American males to prevent spread.
In the meantime, we have to maintain a free and open immigration policy for those that come from the countries where this is rampant and, the stupid U.S. men who go visit them for some fudge packing experience.
People like this guy are why religion was invented. Because he won't see any justice in this life for the evils he has imposed on society, people invent an afterlife with divine justice.
Pineapple suppositories for all eternity, a la Little Nicky.
I suggest you learn about the concept of the sacred and the profane for a start... none of that was made up out of the blue.
how about not telling lies........
this whole pandemic came completely off the rails when this guy flipped on whether masks make any difference..... and admitted he originally lied to prevent a supply problem for hospitals that needed them. the only role he had was to give us the available information so that we could decide what to do FOR OURSELVES, and with that one act (and similar ones afterwards) he lost all credibility. he should have been fired on the spot.
when the whole thing started, sporting events were being canceled, movie releases were pushed and theaters closed, a massive percentage of businesses were sending everyone that they could home to work, the stores that stayed open were going to nearly ludicrous extremes to sanitize everything, and many places were starting to require masks for entry..... all voluntarily..... ,
and then this guy made the "official" source of information something that could no longer be trusted, and state governments started using his words as justification to use force they never should have.
what they should have done..... tell the truth, and let society handle the problem through voluntary actions.
Fauci's mindset is "I'm going to tell the stupid public what they NEED to hear, not necessarily the truth".
this whole pandemic came completely off the rails when this guy flipped on whether masks make any difference..... and admitted he originally lied to prevent a supply problem for hospitals that needed them
Fuck you. He told the truth the first time. Every study available at the time said that masks would not prevent transmission. There is still no real science that shows they do. He flipped because he knew his critics would call him a liar and he could then get his fellow travelers in the media to pillory them.
^this
The whole thing came off the rails when The Powers That Be decided to blow up a normal cold/flu into a panic inducing (fake) plague, and got every institution, including pro sports leagues, to help them seize totalitarian power.
Fuck anybody who went along with them.
he is a liar..... except for that one time he said what you wanted to believe....
a respiratory disease, spread by respiratory droplets.... you have to be a complete fucking moron to think that masks do absolutely nothing. it's not the magic bullet some wanted to believe, but pretending it is nothing is close to equally stupid.
The virus goes through the population regardless of how many people mask. That's effectively nothing.
No. He lied the first time, when he said masks would be ineffective, supposedly to prevent a run on masks when hospitals didn't have enough. Then he publicly changed his tune and advocated masks--he even admitted lying at first and gave the rationale above. Meanwhile, in his private correspondence he admitted masks don't do anything. So he was lying again.
Why does that remind me of the McNamara enemy body counts during Viet Nam?
After all, our superior forces were killing them 10 to one. And look how that worked out.
I don't have enough hate right now. I can't muster the actual energy needed to hate this man as much as he deserves.
I live in CA so I spent most of my hate on Newsom who honestly I think is worse than Fauci.
Yes, Alfred E Newsom has power over many facets of life, not just Xi flu.
I feel your pain.
I live in Solano County near the wine country. The support the greaseball gets around here is off the rails.
Even after his latest Montana vacation. You know, the red state that all state employees are forbidden to travel to on state business or as representatives of any CA agency.
Terrible answer. A much better answer would have been "recognized that COVID is aerosolized much easier and suggest mitigations specific to aerosol transmission". But I suppose that since they *still* haven't suggested mitigations to aerosol transmission, that wasn't going be his answer. I'm pretty annoyed that they are still telling people to wash their hands, but have given exactly zero guidance on HVAC.
If both he and SleepyJoe caught it, what chance do you have ?
They are both double vaxed and boosted. That means that they have minimal natural immunity, since their original immunity is limited to viruses exhibiting the original spike proteins. Then this immunity was doubled, tripled, etc, with massive exposure to those spike proteins. This often apparently led to minimum imprinting of the rest of the virus due to Original Antigenic Sin (OAS). Then the virus mutated around those two spike proteins (with Omicron), and now we have a lot of vaccinated and boosted people with little immune memory of the virus, and little chance of building it later actually fighting the virus. Worse, continued boosting, with the wrong spike proteins just reinforces that imprinting, and makes matters worse.
Against Omicron? Absolutely nothing. While I am dubious of some of the claimed r0 factors, it is still extremely clear that Omicron has figured out how to take hold very easily in the human body.
Against the OG virus, which spread far more slowly? I think that we honestly had a shot at slowing it down further. Take as much of the virus out of the air as possible, and there is a decent chance none of the remaining ones will land on your cell *just right* to cause infection. Keep in mind that before the vaccine was available to high risk populations, we were dealing almost entirely with the original virus. So, being able to fight the original, even if Delta and Omicron came by later to bust it, would have still been useful.
Not to mention: improving air filtration systems is probably a good idea even outside COVID. If the untold billions of dollars spent in schools on sanitizing, those stupid desk sneeze guards, etc. had instead been spent on widening air vents to support HEPA filters and more air exchanges per hour, that money, instead of being entirely wasted, would have cut down on whatever sniffles will surely be going around the schools once we are finally back to normal.
Just thinking about Biden and methods of spread pisses me off. The whole idea of looking like a doofus and fist bumping the Saudi Prince because he was trying to protect himself from COVID ought to count as misinformation at this point. It doesn't spread via contact. Fist bump or handshake, you're screwed anyway because of the aerosols. Why the f*** isn't he "following the science?!"
Viruses can't "think". Thus, they can't figure anything out.
It must be aliens controlling their mutations. Or, deferring to our bible thumping citizens, it's God punishing us for all of our sins. Yeah, that same forgiving God.
Okay. You caught me. I was anthropomorphizing the virus as rhetorical flourish.
Strictly speaking: after an untold number of generations of the virus, the random mutations eventually hit on a combination that was highly contagious, which spread quickly and became predominant, and therefore the predominant variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was far more likely to result in infection, even with relatively little exposure to pathogens.
KILL THE LITTLE FUCK!!!!!!!
I want to make sure my feelings are clear, so ask me if you have any doubt.
Slowly and painfully, or very, very slowly and painfully?
What? Massive control freak claims the covid control freakery didn't freakishly control enough. Quelle surprise.
Fauci needs to be stuffed into a metal trash can and then the lid tied down. If he behaves himself and doesn't make too much noise he gets a Happy Meal tossed in every few hours.
He gets to come back out on the afternoon of his announced retirement date.
If I knew in 2020
Fauci starts off with "If I went back to 2020 with what I knew in 2020 I wouldn't do anything differently." and then proceeds to explain what he would've done differently in 2020 with what he knows in 2022. Very telling that if you gave the guy in charge of preventing pandemics a rhetorical magic wand, he wouldn't actually go back in time and prevent the pandemic that started in 2019.
Even Biden caught that gaff.
This man is a self-serving disgrace to his profession, to science, and to his country. American's should pay no attention to recommendations he has regarding COVID, Monkey Pox, or any other virus. The sooner he retires the better.
The sooner he
retiresdies the better.I hope he and his Grady die before either one can draw the blood money from their publicly-financed retirement funds. HIV, COVID, or monkeypox would be fitting and just.
"Nothing we did worked, so we just needed to do the same stuff even more."
That was the agricultural model the farmers came up with in my ag business classes in the 1970s. They would lose their shirts on the current year's crop. And then go down to the bank and try to borrow more money to plant twice as much the following year. "I'll make it up on volume" they opine.
Sadly, with government supports, the farmers and the banks were willing to participate in this charade.
Of course, when the farms went bust and big ag concerns would pick them up, everyone blamed "greedy big ag corps".
Somehow, we hate efficiency in our society.
I wrote this clown off when I saw him sporting two masks. What a jackass of an apparatchik.

You know who else co-opted medical professionals as enforcers of state coercion?
"...there would have been much, much more stringent restrictions in the sense of very, very heavy encouragement of people to wear masks, physical distancing, what have you."
"Right now, we are very, very clear that masks do work in prevention of acquisition and transmission," said Fauci. "But you've got to get a well-fitted mask that is of a high quality. And the two we know are high quality are N95 and KN95."
The whole reason why Fauci initially said masks were ineffective was that he was concerned there were not enough N95 and KN95 masks for medical professional needs. Not to mention how many people did not wear the lesser types of masks properly. Fauci is saying he would have gone harder on a policy that was practically impossible to implement and of dubious effectiveness in the general population. The man may have high intelligence and impressive degrees, but he has no wisdom.
One of the absolute worst aspects of the response is that they didn't recommend industrial respirators to the high risk. In fact, in many jurisdictions, they don't even count as wearing a mask because of their exhale valves. So, yeah, they don't fall into the whole "my mask protects you, your mask protects me" verbal hug they were pushing, but if my mask is approved by OSHA to protect me from deadly gasses, I think I'll be fine, even if your mask is venting your infection right into my face.
And compared to medical N95s, industrial respirators are reusable for years (maybe just needing a new filter every few months, depending on how dusty it is),
more comfortable, easier to fit properly and easier to check the fit of.
Sounds like my CPAP machine. Maybe I should just carry it around with me and change the micron filter regularly.
My question is when Fauci says the cloth masks were not effective against transmission but the better masks are, then why were the cloth masks recommended at all? There was already a shortage off PPE, not helping that lots sent to China the day everything shut down, but studies did show even cloth masks were better at preventing transmission than nothing at all.
More stringent mandates, how about just enforcing those in place? Lots of people chose jot to follow the State mandates and there were no consequences. This is not all Fauci as many others are responsible as well, right down to citizens. I just find it unfortunate for those who followed guidelines and precautions and still lost their lives because of those who chose not to.
So it isn't unfortunate that people who didn't follow the guidelines died? You don't find it unfortunate that kids lost 2 years of education or many millions more people are in abject poverty because of economic shutdowns?
It is only unfortunate that people who "did everything right" died.
The moral bankruptcy of your worldview is stunning.
In government we never consider collateral damage. Or, alternatives once we've determined a policy.
That's why it is so easy to corrupt government officials. Just pay to play. They don't care what the hell happens. They're seldom held accountable, and, even when they are, they'll get a slap on the wrist and be back in no time in one form or another.
Except for spies. I think we still execute them. For doing exactly what too many pols do.
Fauxi may end up never drawing a dime of his "pension", if fate were kind neither would his wife!
As a liberal, I don't share Robbie Soave's conservative attitude that it is impossible for government to perform well at any activity it pulls into its remit. But, as a libertarian, I have no problem admitting that NIH and it's Kafka-esque offspring NIAAID and CDC failed miserably during the pandemic. The legacy military orientation that created the early NIH ensures that whatever they touch will be plagued with toxic decentralized bureaucracy that encourages non-cooperation even by offices located in the same building.
You cannot be liberal and libertarian at the same time
Size matters.
Bureaucracies the size of federal administrations are doomed to failure from the get go. By sheer power and size compounded by myopia.
Smaller, local government agencies? Not as much. Their "one size fits all" solutions are limited only to the locals. They can't screw things up on such a grand scale.
Considering Fauci is a director of a Nazi-Regime organization NIH/HHS which is UN-Constitutional..... His entire gang of 'mobsters' should be erased from this nation by the Supreme Court.
Fuck Fauci. Why didn't Trump fire his ass in 2020?
'....I would have mandated all N95 masks come with strips of crazy glue so kids wouldn't be able to remove them and that would have reduced a statistical risk of zero to actual zero among children aged newborn to 7 years of age....'
If Sweden did better than mid-pack concerning mortality and much better than other nations on the societal measures, I believe Mr Fauci is quite incorrect.
Fauci, as many lab coats before him have proven, are not policy decision makers....
If we could do it again, then we should have put Anthony Fauci behind bars among a bunch of other authoritarians.
Fauci epitomizes the life-long government bureaucrat: his default position is more government control over you, he funds research opening Pandora's box, wrote that the risk and cost of a pandemic would be worth the gain of function research to "get ahead of new viruses" (or more likely, to get gifts and kickbacks from the grantees), showed poor judgement in funding the research, showed poor judgement in suppressing the origin of the virus, and generally lied about the virus and the so-called vaccines. I still don't know the probability of each side effect of the vaccine, as they've apparently been keeping it secret.
Further, his narcissism, feigned knowledge, political messaging rather than truthful messaging, his willingness to tell people what to do (while behaving contrary to his own advice) shows he's not fit for work in the government. It's ironic, he graduated at the top of his medical class. but acts more like a politician than a doctor.
"Anthony Fauci Says If We Could Do It Again, COVID-19 Restrictions Would Be 'Much, Much More Stringent'"
On whose authority and under what part of the Constitution?
He don't need no stinking Constitution!
And regardless of the obvious legal issues, the man is supposedly familiar with how science is practiced. He's got the data in front of him; tell us where 'more stringent' was a success.
Further, put some time in, and give us cost/benefit info suggesting how shutting down an economy if preferable to some (wished-for) decrease in the spread of a relatively benign illness.
Way back in May 20202, I had a discussion with a friend of mine who was on the side of lockdowns, forced masking, etc.
But I'm pretty sure the picture I painted would have given Newsome wood...
-------------------
These "lockdowns" are crap, in the sense that they are completely ineffectual because of the huge holes in them. I was talking to my wife the other day morning after we watched the news and this poll came up (forget what channel) saying the something like 63% of Americans think we should wait until there's a vaccine or a cure before we reopen.
I said something along the lines of:
I wonder how many of those people demanding longer lockdowns would feel if things were *really* locked down. Being able to run to the grocery store or Wal-Mart or picking up your favorite take-out…those are all ways and places where you can infect other or be infected, even if you're wearing a mask.
So I mean *really locked down*: no grocery stores, no Wal-Mart, no fast-food drive-throughs, no pizza delivery, no Uber-Eats or Door-Dash or whatever. No Amazon or Target online. No home delivery. No jogging, visiting a park, etc. You’ll stay in your house or else–we’ll allow you to wander around in your own backyard (backyard only), if you have one. For food, what you’ll get is a government truck will deliver a box of food for one person to eat for a week, and drop off the boxes at your front doorstep based on the number of people in your household (hope you didn’t lie on the census form!). Each week, you will be told to line your household up at the door, one at a time, so they can be counted; this will inform the number of food boxes dropped of at your house. An armed escort will accompany the delivery person to ensure that no one opens their doors while the delivery person is within 20 feet of the door. Don't do that, because you could get shot. The delivery personnel and their guards will be in full MOPP gear.
If someone in your house needs medical care, call 911 and an ambulance will be dispatched. People in full MOPP gear will pick up your sick loved one and take them away for treatment. If they live, you'll see them again.
The ONLY “essential” personnel will be those involved with treating COVID and for producing and delivering the food. These people will be issued uniforms and ID lanyards. So there’s no reason for anyone one else to ever venture outside of their house and anyone on the streets who is not in uniform obviously has no business being there, and will be subject to immediate detention in physical quarantine facilities.
Let them imagine a real lockdown for a few minutes then ask the question about a vaccine again. Bet the answer is different.
The reaction after the Boston Marathon bombing.
Blew my mind to see police mwraps on the street and armed officers taking long lines of people with their fingers locked behind their heads out of their homes to look for the little shit. And, no one was fighting back!
And no backlash from the public later.
It's like the Spanish Inquisition. Which went of for some 300 years.
It's a sorry lot we've become.
Let them imagine a real lockdown for a few minutes
As someone who's worked in BSL labs and made similar arguments about if COVID were a real, no-shit, bleed from your eyes for a few hours, suffer as your internal organs liquidate themselves for a few hours, and then die disease, well said. Even retarded zombie fiction, where they check everyone's temperature at ports of entry (be they doors, sea, or air ports) got it more right than what we did.
Sure Tony. And if we could do it all over again, we'd hang you upside down from a lightpost.
This fucking idiot midget still doesn't get it. Do the world a favor and die.
Keep in mind that Democrats embrace of restrictive policy (even when useless) was a propaganda effort to protect themselves from treating the outbreak cavalierly in the beginning. If you remember they claimed anyone concerned about it was racist because the spread was exacerbated by Chinese New Year. Nancy Pelosi and Bill DeBlasio, among others, advocated attending large gatherings and hugging ethnic Chinese to reinforce that those not doing so were racist. When they realized this was a mistake National Democrats had a weekend powwow at which they decided the best protection was to become aggressively militant in response to the disease. Then people's complaints they didn't take it seriously could be
So to sum up we have stupid and damaging rules which don't even impact the disease spread because Dems need them for political cover. As usual Dems chose the wrong strategy at every single point of the crisis all while loudly blaming everyone else. What a pack of fools.
so much for science. no masks do not work to filter out any virus.

ok the editor on this site keeps changing what i write. it removes characters.
aerosol less than 5

"Less than" and "greater than" looks like an HTML tag so it gets filtered.
no masks do not work to filter out any virus
They weren't designed to. They weren't even designed to prevent bacteria from escaping the doctor's mouth during surgery. They were designed to reduce the gross effect of colonizing bacteria (and other microbes) in open wounds to acceptable levels. Whether that was all bacteria or just so few and so sparsely distributed that an otherwise normal immune system could fight them off and you could treat the rest with antibiotics was immaterial.
The only thing this scum bag has succeeded at is setting back the intellectual and emotional development of millions of children, causing depression in millions of adolescents, destroying an awesome economy and picking one winner: Pfizer for a vaccine that a very small proportion of the population benefitted from too little too late and made sure that the resources that could have saved the old, fat, hypertensive, diabetic were instead diverted to take away freedom from 3-year-olds. Pure scum.
Talk about drunk on power. YUK... Worst of humanity.
Because lock-downs, masks and vaccinations were so effective? That would be the definition of insanity.
I had a hospital procedure yesterday. My wife insisted we take cloth masks as they would be required. I did not. As we walked in the entrance she was told cloth masks were not allowed, she would have to take one of the disposable medical masks. Even hospitals are waking up.
Hello,
I am really impressed with the way you conduct the whole interview on covid restrictions masks and how Anthony Fauci spread light on that issue.
Regards: Funzalo
Simply incredible. Yeah MORE restrictions that do not do anything for a respiratory virus EVERYONE is going to get anyway. Which is why this mass-murdering anti-science POS should be nowhere near any levers of power or in any advisory role.
If we do this again, will NOT be listening to this moron.
Well I am certainly glad he is double emphasizing his prescriptions with very very and much much. Of course, they should also be ALL CAPS to really prove his seriousness about how everyone else failed him.
Where did we fail Dr. Fauci? What exactly was the responsibility we owed him? How do you explain the ineffectiveness of masks and the exaggerations of what the vaccine could do?
Is this what you have to do to defend Fauci? Repent.
Anthony Fauci is a fraud who will do and say anything to increase his ideology, his power, and the size of his bank account.
this little Twink needs to be against the wall
Arrest Dr. Fauci.
LESS GOVERNMENT seems to be the consistent and obvious remedy to all we see in these horrible days. Also, all the obnoxious ways of history show that an uber-powerful government is behind the abuses, and deterioration. Same today. Less power. Less government, while still demanding a mature citizen, guarantees that much of this evil will focus elsewhere than in our governance.
In California we had strict mandates. I was fed up with them within a few weeks. Stricter mandates and lockdowns would have cause a huge rebellion. I hope we’ve all learned not to believe these government idiots.
Doubtless, Mr. Fauci would like to place restrictions on anybody questioning Mr. Fauci.
This guys is an abomination. His 'bioethicist' wife too. Monsters.
Didn't he recently say he never recommended lockdowns?
He's a megalomaniacal loser. A grunt bureaucrat shill for pharma.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Dr. Frankenfauci IS THE CAUSE of the epidemic with his cohorts at the NIH and the Chinese Communist Government at WuHan and as such should be ON TRIAL FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!
As a former Nuclear Biological and Chemical NCO from Fort Bragg, NC I can tell you HONESTLY that you CANNOT vaccinate against a BIOLOGICAL AGENT WHICH COVID IS. The only real mask that offers protection would be a FULL RESPIRATOR MASK WITH HOOD! Frankenfauci is an IDIOT who has NO IDEA the actions of a Bio Agent. Covid may have started as a "natural" pathogen but like Anthrax and Racine once you put it in a lab setting and dissect it then it is NO LONGER A NATURAL AGENT.
Anyone who listens to that monkey boy Frankenfauci is either TOO STUPID TO LOOK INTO WHAT THEY ARE TELLING THEM OR JUST A TOOL FOR THE TYRANTS TO BULLY!
Try it and see what happens idiot. Anyone is completely delusional if they think Americans will ever go through that nonsense again. It is over.
