Steam Engines Are Perpetuating Racism, Apparently
The National Museum of Wales is suggesting that 19th-century innovations that enabled economic development are somehow tainted by slavery.

Richard Trevithick did not own slaves. He was a barely literate engineer, born toward the end of the 18th century, who grappled with—and ultimately solved—the question of how to improve the steam engine's size and efficiency. He's still getting canceled, though, or at least linked to the slave trade he played no part in.
The National Museum of Wales, which normally displays Trevithick's 1804 invention, the steam-powered locomotive, has claimed that the innovation "helped drive an imperial British economy that was tied to the slave trade," reports The Telegraph's Craig Simpson. The plaques that accompany the model of the locomotive will now include information contextualizing the invention, talking about how the economic advancement it brought about also contributed to the slave trade.
The museum issued a statement defending its decision:
"Although there might not be direct links between the Trevithick locomotive and the slave trade, we acknowledge the reality that links to slavery are woven into the warp and weft of Welsh society.
Trade and colonial exploitation were embedded in Wales' economy and society and were fundamental to Wales' development as an industrialised nation.
As we continue to audit the collection, we will explore how the slave trade linked and fed into the development of the steam and railway infrastructure in Wales."
The museum's argument is flimsy and vague, part of its self-described "wider decolonising work" that attempts to tie all kinds of parts of history back to racism when doing so involves making an enormous leap. The steam-powered locomotive was born out of necessity; in Cornwall, where Trevithick lived and worked at the time, there were few coal deposits, but lots of ore mining. Mine operators needed to conserve fuel and needed lightweight, more efficient engines to better transport materials to mining sites. Trevithick made use of the power of high-pressure steam to improve engines, building on James Watt's engine, which had been predominantly in use up until the end of the 18th century.
"It has previously been argued by the National Railway Museum that steam-powered machinery drove sugar mills on plantations and cotton gins in industrial cities, while railways aided colonial expansion," writes Simpson. "It has also been argued that many early financiers of the rail network had investments in the slave trade, although it is not claimed that Trevithick had any such backing."
Just because an invention was used in other industries that utilized slave labor doesn't mean the inventor himself ought to have his reputation stained. It's unclear who is served by some of these "decolonisation" efforts at museums, which involve adding plaques that imply tenuous guilt by association and shifting focus away from the economic development made possible by Trevithick's locomotive.
The inventor himself died in poverty and was buried in an unmarked grave, having declared bankruptcy in 1811 after a series of bad business decisions. That he is now receiving posthumous dishonor, for sins of the British empire that he played no personal part in, is more a reflection of the social justice–obsessed times we live in than any fault of his.

Superstition has returned to the world. Do we get rid of roads next?
Think of how many thousands of years they existed alongside slavery!
Didn't you hear? Secretary Buttigieg has already confirmed that roads are racist.

Just because an invention was used in other industries that utilized slave labor doesn't mean the inventor himself ought to have his reputation stained.
Next you'll be saying that descendents of those who sold food and clothing to people in industries that utilized slave labor shouldn't be at least shunned. Come *on*, Liz! Get with the program!
Fine, then these cunts should be put on trial for the millions dead by marxist regimes since those are the rules they play by, and we can give them a dose of the "guilty on accusation" treatment they so often demand for others.
I am not sure we have enough walls to put them up against.
We can make them build more, then put them up against those walls and shoot them.
I'm sure AOC's plaque in the Congressional Hall of Fame will point out that she adhered to an outdated and discredited political philosophy that led to starvation, poverty, environmental disaster, and death for tens of millions, right?
No, they are the rules you must play by, not them.
Progs have become a living breathing parody. How anyone can see them and think "this is who I want to run my city/state/country" is beyond me.
It's the Emperor's New Clothes thing. They don't want to be seen as Deplorables for voting against the regime.
He was a barely literate engineer
The more things change...
Once upon a time, talented people could have careers employing their gifts without having the right degrees and certificates.
And still do, to some extent, although we are dying out. (That's not pride, just a long history of people assuming that just because one is doing research, one has officially piled it high and deep enough to get the degree.)
I knew a guy who had a long career as a design engineer for temperature control systems, including work on the Apollo program, who did not have an engineering degree. Today, he'd never get an interview.
As said, we're a dying breed.
It's unclear who is served by some of these "decolonisation" efforts at museums, which involve adding plaques that imply tenuous guilt by association and shifting focus away from the economic development made possible by Trevithick's locomotive.
Yeah, so the reason this is now EVERYWHERE is because it was taught in schools.
I miss when I could find this shit funny.
I enjoyed playing warhammer 40K, but now I get to live through the prequel.
More absolute absurdity from the progressives.
Wonder if these decision makers, being so virtuous, have thrown out all of their modern conveniences that derived from the imperial British economy and were developed by processes that also enabled slavery. No? What a surprise.
You absolutely do not want these people in power in your country.
"Errrr, is it OK if I stop listening to rap?"
They still jerk off over royal drama and the monarchy, but we are supposed to boycott a fucking train?
Not just any monarchy, a German monarchy! It wasn't until after they Germans managed to kill off a sizable chunk of the British male population, including with the chemical warfare they invented, that the German monarchy was embarassed enough to actually change their surname to something a bit more British.
Fellow Hanovers—my people.
It's ironic that they call themselves "progressive" when they seem to oppose most forms of actual progress.
Progress is white supremacy.
The museum's argument is flimsy and vague, part of its self-described "wider decolonising work"
I know when I think of white European colonial powers that ruined the world, Wales is the first that comes to mind.
Don't welsh on that bet.
Didn't they also invent sheep fucking?
No, but they did perfect it, through lots and lots and lots of practice.
Apparently, Wales doesn't have enough of its own business to mind.
Absolutely everything is associated with slavery by some indirect link. Slavery was the norm for thousands of years all over the world.
What the fuck are we supposed to do (according to these people)? Start again as cave men and rebuild all of human history, but without slavery and colonization? Or is it OK to enslave people as long as they are the same color as you?
The whole idea of "decolonization" is absolutely absurd too. You can't undo history. And you can't put things back the way they were without displacing or killing billions of people.
This garbage is simply evil and completely misanthropic.
Slavery? SLAVERY? You want to wring your hands about the legacy of slavery? What say we turn our attention to the Turkish empire for a beat.
And don't even get me started about the mistreatment of my Neanderthal forebears!
It's fine. You just damn people from last century for living in a century where bad things happened by today's standards and you're absolved...as long as you feel guilty about descending from those evil monsters.
What the fuck is wrong with people?
It's a mental illness that doesn't yet have a name and isn't in the DSM.

How much reparations do Egyptian Americans owe to Jewish Americans?
*ducks from chair thrown at my head by meisk
Beautiful.
Funny enough, the current archaeological narrative is that slaves never built the pyramids. It was semi- free serfs. And there’s all kinds of shade being thrown on the Hebrews ever being in Egypt. Sure there’s nothing political there.
Since the ancient Egyptians only built pyramids for relatively short period of time, I can see biblical things not lining up specifically with building pyramids. But the Egyptians sure as shit took and used slaves. They bragged about how many they took after every battle.
John Cleese got deplatformed for demanding reparations from Italy (Roman invasion and occupation for 3-4 centuries) and France (Norman invasion and continuing occupation).
As a full-blooded Saxon I support the defrancification of England.
Somehow, this was such a case of Poe's law that I had to look it up, and lo, 'tis true!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10606743/John-Cleese-stuns-South-Southwest-crowd-jokes-historic-slave-reparations-Britain.html
But I've been suggesting for years that England is actually an occupied country (referring to the 1066 invasion) without most people even knowing what I was talking about. I guess you need to have a big enough soapbox or else you can't get heard.
Or maybe their just reward for executing Ragnar.
William was a descendant of Rollo.
I'm hoping to live long enough to see the2066 celebrations.
And thanks for looking it up! I think I was most surprised that it was fellow comedians who took his mic away, no doubt in fear of being canceled themselves.
It's recent, and all over the place. I'm not sure they really thought they were saving him from himself, but rather didn't want humor in general smeared with the stain of racism.
WTF has this world come to?
Slavery was the norm for thousands of years all over the world.
Considering my kids were born with the obligation to pay taxes, it's readily arguable that slavery hasn't gone anywhere. Considering the debt most likely won't be paid off by my great grandkids, it's likely that slavery won't be going anywhere for a while.
They have a 50/50 chance of avoiding taxes.
Only half of us pay taxes, so - - - - - - - - - -
I'm tired of pointing out that's a myth. I guess I should save a post I can copy and paste.
I'm up for a laugh, how do you debunk it in the face things like the EITC and the general welfare state? Paying $1,000 in sales tax a year isn't paying taxes when you bring in 20-30k in benefits of various forms.
Everybody pays property taxes, renter or owner.
Every worker pays SSA, Medicare, etc.
The 50% obviously applies to federal income tax only.
So I guess we don't need to pay income taxes then...
Many do NOT pay any taxes at all. Those on social programs that provide food (used to be called food stamps, now, what? ADFC or some BS), section 8 housing do not pay on income or rent. Medicare I'm not sure about, but I was under the impression that the indigent got free(to them) healthcare (such as it is) through Medicaid. Certainly they are not paying socialist insecurity or property taxes, although perhaps excise tax on their car (if they have one in places like Taxachusetts).
"the EITC and the general welfare state? Paying $1,000 in sales tax a year isn't paying taxes when you bring in 20-30k in benefits of various forms."
Yeah, that's the myth right there. Only low-income earners with dependents get those benefits, and not all of them WITH dependents get much. The working poor without qualifying dependents who can't benefit from itemizing deductions pay substantial federal income tax, and, as Á àß has already pointed out, also pay the full SSA and Medicare tax. When people hear that half of filers pay no income tax, which is technically true if you count only the nominative federal tax and not SSA/Medicare which are also federal income taxes in reality, they assume it's the BOTTOM 50% in earnings who are not paying. That is not true. Most of the non-payers are lower-middle-class to middle-middle-class workers with dependents, and the poor on public assistance.
This is a religion. It is a religion with the concept of original sin that has tainted us all. But it is a religion that denies any hope for redemption or salvation.
"For all of sinned and all are damned for all eternity to be ruled by idiot progs."
"Who have all sinned too, but somehow aren't stained by it."
What the fuck are we supposed to do (according to these people)?
Fall on your knees, beg for forgiveness, await further instructions.
Any member of the social justice mob that claims otherwise is lying.
Fall on your knees, beg for forgiveness, await the beheading axe.

That only delays the beheading.
For a short intro to the subject, Dan Carlin has a "Blitz" episode. That's when he covers something in a single go. This one's six hours and he apologizes for the cursory treatment.

> What...are we supposed to do (according to these people)?
Put up a plaque, apparently. The thing about many of these hypersensitivity efforts is that by and large, they aren't asking for any real change. Move a statue. Rename a mountain. Stick a slide at the front of a PowerPoint. It's what you get when "everything is political" collides with "you are either with us or against us". So, these folks can't enjoy a train museum without a plaque, because if the museum doesn't have some evidence of being on their side then it is necessarily supporting the stays quo (which racist, sexist, etc.). Similarly, they can't enjoy a presentation on the ball bearings used in the James Webb space telescope (or whatever) without a "land acknowledgement". Names are funny because their political value wears out once people just get used to the name. So that school named after Nancy Pelosi was great originally, but she is now mainstream enough that a school named after her isn't explicitly political, so now it is time to dump that name for a new progressive "hero".
I guess it is safe to assume no one at the National Museum of Wales drives a Volkswagon?
Ha, yeah, the "Strength Through Joy" car.
Or a BMW.
And we still must ignore the fact that the African slave trade was started by Africans and continues to this day.
And the Easter Europeans (the slaves, aka the root of slave) that were slaves to the ottomans aren't victims, because they were a different type of slave, ie not American, so that's different
The African slave trade had largely disappeared until Hillary revived it. Now the Libyan slave markets operate pretty much openly.
There had always been a fair number of countries in Africa where it was quite common. I think something like 15% of the population of Mauritania are effectively slaves. That's probably the worst example (unless Libya is worse now).
Athens. Sparta. Rome. Alexandria. Cairo.
BUT AT LEAST IT WASN'T CHATTEL SLAVERY!!
The goofy fucks running the Social Justice grift had a tough task facing them: Making AMERICAN slavery extra evilbad. Unsurprisingly, they were up to the task, since it involves total bullshit.
"we acknowledge the reality that links to slavery are woven into the warp and weft of Welsh society."
Therefore we are, in good faith, selling off the Museum's collection and donating the proceeds to any Blacks we can find in Cardiff."
If you've got money earmarked for black people, you'll find some pretty easy.
As a drunken actor, George Cooke, was being booed off stage in Liverpool in 1772, he cried out 'I have not come here to be insulted by a set of wretches, there is not a brick in your dirty town but what is cemented with by the blood of a negro.'
It was a much more valid complaint when slavery was actually happening. Now they seem to be protesting against the past, which is rather absurd.
Well, the present is too fleeting to protest, and the future's not here yet.
Plenty of people seem to be opposed to the future these days.
The past is never dead. It's not even past.
Which is why we need to seize Istanbul from the Mohammedans and resurrect Constantinople!
As the good book says, you may be finished with the past but the past isn't finished with you.
So the Beatles will have to be decolonised too?
The Beatles were pretty good on matters racial. In 1964 they were scheduled to play a gig in Florida where the organizers had decided, I shit you not, that black and white audience members had to be segregated from each other. When the fab four got wind of this, they insisted they play before an audience where white and black sat beside each other. Finally, the audience enjoyed the show and didn't seem to mind the communistic seating arrangements.
You think this little anecdote is going to save them? The British Empire eventually ended slavery in much of the world, and they don’t get any slack. Religious zealots in many of the colonies lived communally and opposed slavery, and mistreatment of the Indians, it doesn’t save them from the hordes of university halfwits who believe the actual purpose of history is to condescend to it.
"You think this little anecdote is going to save them?"
I think so. Do you see anyone condemning them for racism? There are academics who study the Beatles. One I'm familiar with is studying their historiography, the history of the history, so to speak. I don't think the colonies, race or any of the other issues that interest you are covered. (search the net for info on Erin Weber if you need confirmation.)
Religious zealots get criticized for their attempts to destroy culture and customs. Abolishing potlach, changing dress codes, etc. Commercial zealots were often open bigots and made fortunes exploiting colonial populations, and are also criticized by academics.
This innovation to the steam engine was made in 1804. The British Empire abolished the slave trade within its borders in 1807. It is difficult to reason exactly what this device had to do with the continuation or expansion of the slave trade at all.
The British Empire abolished the slave trade within its borders in 1807.
And it was the first country in the history of the world to do so. Some of the last ones? Saudi Arabia—1962. Mauritania—1984.
Some of the last ones? Saudi Arabia—1962. Mauritania—1984.
This is also predicated on the notion that (e.g.) South Sudan banned slavery pre-emptively.
Read it and weep. I knew an actual living slave when I lived in Taiwan in the 1990s. Her father gave his daughter to repay gambling debts.
Historians, actual academics, get grant money to show just how it really IS connected, so there! Hell, I think Australia just celebrated its' 150th!!
Not 150th anniversary, but 150th academic study showing how bad the white people were and how they killed all the abos, so sad, and now all they can do is give them money which the abos object to on the moral principle that it isn't enough.
"how they killed all the abos"
That's an exaggeration. One lucky abo was merely chained and leashed and forced to lead an intrepid party of explorers from watering hole to watering hole on their way across the desert.
a. National Museum of where?
b. Shouldn't whitey be triggered by the big long black thing?
The last four letters of Dillenger are perilously close to the n-word.
This is especially stupid given that there is probably no invention in human history that did more to herald the demise of slave labor than the steam engine. Prior to the steam engine the only sources of portable, focused power were humans and animals. Slavery made economic sense prior to the steam engine. It is no coincidence that the century that brought widespread steam power to the world was also the one where slavery was ended in the West.
At the same time, the cotton gin breathed new life in the chattel slavery that was already dying out in the South.
Destined for inevitable end with the proliferation of field tractors and mechanical harvesting.
In that narrative people note that the number of slaves increased greatly through the first part of the 19th century. However, as a percentage of the overall population, that's not true. The black share of the population was pretty stable as a percentage. Importation of new slaves was banned in 1807, so the increase in population was solely due to births, whereas in the White population there were a waves of immigration in the 19th century. In fact, black percentage of the population dipped sharply *after* the civil war.
1790 1800 1810 1820 1830 1840 1850 1860 1870 1880 1890 1900
White 80.7% 81.1% 81.0% 81.6% 81.9% 83.2% 84.3% 85.6% 87.1% 86.5% 87.5% 87.9%
Black 19.3% 18.9% 19.0% 18.4% 18.1% 16.8% 15.7% 14.1% 12.7% 13.1% 11.9% 11.6%
Both Whites and blacks were benefitting from much lower child mortality rates in the 19th century. Slavery and the cotton gin wasn't the only things going on in the world.
Good point.
Maryland had a brief period where industrialization and slavery mingled in the early 19th century. A book I read on it claims it first sparked more ownership of slaves by the middling sorts (craftsman, etc). But eventually the uprooting of people from the countryside and the skill sets needed by factories in and around Baltimore lead to slaves having a little more ability to negotiate and buy their way out.
Old things are racist.
What do you expect from a society that is increasingly embracing the idea that civilization didn't start until the 21st century?
While at the same time, archeology is acknowledging that civilization started thousands of years earlier than previously believed.

Only Joe Biden could have improved the poll numbers of nuclear war.

Technically, it's not the steam engines that are perpetuating slavery, it's the museums.

The NYT Now Admits the Biden Laptop -- Falsely Called "Russian Disinformation" -- is Authentic
The corporate media outlets which spread this lie from ex-CIA officials never retracted their pre-election falsehoods, ones used by Big Tech to censor reporting on the front-runner.
This was one of the worst cases of disinformation and censorship in modern US political history.
That the Biden archive revealed by the @nypost was authentic was 100% clear at the start. All metrics used to authenticate large archives - ones we used in the Snowden and Brazil investigations - proved that. But media and Big Tech were so desperate to defeat Trump, so they lied.
Any residual doubts about the authenticity of this archive -- and there should never have been any doubts -- were obliterated when POLITICO's @SchreckReports published a book in Sept. proving they were real. But media outlets and Big Tech united in a vow of silence to ignore it.
Virtually every liberal outlet (except, to their credit, NYT) spread this CIA lie *and* lied about what these officials said (they admitted they had *no evidence* for their "suspicion"). Look at this campaign ad masquerading as reporting @HuffPost did:
This was a gigantic fraud perpetrated in the critical weeks before the 2020 election. Millions of Americans were denied the ability to hear vital about reporting Joe Biden, and instead were subjected to a barrage of lies about the provenance and authenticity of these documents.
Virtually every media outlet — CNN, NBC, PBS, HuffPost, The Intercept, many others -- spread the CIA lie over and over that these documents were the by-product of "Russian disinformation." The Intercept even censored my reporting and analysis of the archive. Now, today, the NYT:
I already know the excuses for ignoring this now. I list them below. But regardless of whether the corporate media will again ignores proof -- now from NYT -- that they printed lies to manipulate the election, this disinformation/censorship campaign is of historic importance.
This is a story I covered from the start because of how much corruption it revealed. The corporate press and Big Tech used a blatant CIA lie to claim an authentic archive was false. Yes, there's a war going on: there always is. But these events are vital:
When your job title in the HR Department of your corporation reads "journalist," but all you really want to be is a partisan spokesman for the DNC:
Now that the NYT admitted what was clear from the start -- the Biden archive is real and corporate media outlets, CIA and Big Tech lied to say it was "Russian disinformation" -- look at what the media did to see why they are so justifiably hated. Watch:
That HuffPost video above -- which looks exactly like what it was: a campaign ad with sinister music about "Russian disinformation" -- is just a disgrace. Same with @amanpour's refusal to let the archive even be mentioned. Watch this from @60Minutes:
There was ample evidence the archive was real from the start. Many of us were screaming from the rooftops about it. The US corporate media lied on purpose because they were desperate to defeat Trump. Big Tech censored it using the CIA lie for the same reason. That's the truth.
For pointing out in real-time that the Biden archive was clearly authentic -- using the standard journalistic methods for authenticating large archives -- and CIA and media outlets were lying by calling it "Russian disinformation," you'll never guess what I was accused of being:
Here was @mtaibbi telling the story of how @TheIntercept's Betsy Reed printed CIA lies that the Biden archive was "Russian disinformation" -- peddled by James Risen -- then censored my article by claiming its authenticity could not be determined:

The fracas over John Cleese's slavery joke is beyond stupid. Cleese doesn't give a shit, he's old and rich and about to die soon sow hat the does he care about a bunch of humorless fucks who can't get laid? But he was absolutely correct. The original inhabitants of Britain were enslaved by the Romans and then by the Normans. So why aren't Italy and France paying reparations?
The Norse and the Saxons also held Britons as slaves. The Norse even exported them.
So do my scandinavian ancestors owe my irish ancestors repairations? How do I collect, or pay or ????
We need an Ancestral Credit Score to figure out who owes and who gets what.

Ukraine just silently announced it’s the first country to implement the WEF's ‘Great Reset’ by setting up a Social Credit Application combining Universal Basic Income (UBI), a Digital Identity & a Vaccine Passport all within their Diia app.
[Links]
https://truthtalk.uk/2022/is-ukraine-the-bedrock-of-the-wefs-great-reset-digital-id-wallet-blueprint-for-the-west/
This seems like a miscalculation by the WEF. I certainly concede that I'm not a 'pulls the levers of power' type and don't have all the information, but all my models project the Ukraine being somewhere between 'radioactive shithole' and 'regular shithole' for the next 50 yrs. Not sure how either one reflects well on any sort of Great Reset.
I guess I'm also not a drooling moron either, so that may be biasing my conclusions as well.
Ah, but if it benefits Klaus Schwab and Dr. Yuval Noah Harari (who plays the gay Skeletoresque figure to Schwab's Nazi) to make Ukraine look like a smashing success (while America falls apart "Oll dot freedom und disorter...tsk-tsk."), the money to make it so will be found.
All that YA dystopian sci-fi you used to read and make fun of? Here it comes.
But it was announced quietly and I'm exceedingly certain that, in the next 50 yrs., even in the event of nuclear war, the US will still be preferable to the Ukraine.
You may be right about the YA science fiction (and not even YA, parts of Fall: Dodge In Hell have aged exceedingly poorly over a scant couple of years.). I hadn't considered large swaths of the population living in the metaverse and pretending that their homes and infrastructure in the US that still allow them to live in the metaverse, even after nuking CA from Silicon Valley westward into the Pacific, is worse than living in reality in the Ukraine.
It's disgusting that this museum is profiting off all these things that drove the engine of slavery. What will they display next? Chains, whips, cotton? Disgusting I say.
People were actually visiting the exhibit WEARING COTTON SHIRTS! In Black History Month! That's virtually literal violence!!
It's all coming down, folks. All of Western Civ is under attack by those who are who aren't Western (or hate being so), and aren't civilized, or both.
Never mind that no other world "Civ" ever is historically civilized or blood-free. Ours is the one on the hot seat, and the barbarians aren't at the gate -- they're inside the gate and sitting in the ivory towers.
Well, to be fair, apart from the corners of the web, nobody has ever stood up and made a public case against such destruction.
Because the Enlightenment focused on the individual and not the collective and the elites hate the individual. So much harder to control.
"So much harder to control."
I don't think so. Compare the US and the USSR. The Soviets knew that the government was rotten and feeding them garbage. They eventually brought down that government. In the US the people actually believe they are free and the government works on their behalf. Collectivities can be dangerous. Atomized individuals are a piece of cake.
Which is why Russia is a nation of freedom to which the atomized serfs if the US can only dream of escaping.
Are you always this stupid?
To the society of the perpetually aggrieved, everything is racist.
Slavery was the norm for ancient tribes and civilizations all around the world. Indigenous, First Nations, Native people's practiced slavery. Brutal, inhuman slavery. Colonization and the rise of Democracy is what ended widespread slavery. Unless you subscribe to Critical McSlavery Theory.
Western civilization ended slavery in the west and in the rest of the world as well and the latter was not happy about it. Slavery was practiced actively throughout the non-western world long after the west abolished it. The Ottoman Empire was very much against the abolition of slavery in its' dominion, and practiced slavery for many years after the West had abolished it. See Thomas Sowells' writings for much detail on this subject. He has a video on Youtube titled roughly "what they didn't teach about slavery in school". Very enlightening.
You might like my take on Critical Race Theory. It's in my book "Why Socialism Sucks" in the section titled "White Privilege, Black Privilege, Yellow Privilege."
The Saud crime family in Arabia didn't get around to nominally banning slavery until 1960.

Western Civilization won gang..look all over the world. You have industrialization, mostly rule of law, acceptable levels of corruption and the belief that markets set prices better than govts. You also have the use of hard science and engineering and most of all private property rights.
Social Justice is not social and never justice. It is cultural marxism degenerating on hatred, envy, and feelings of inferiorty.
Social Science has delivered this crap.and it needs to be faced and eliminated from America. Liberty over diversity, freedom over equity.
Isn't steam white? There's your answer.
Tchaikovsky was cancelled in Cardiff. Wales is canceling steam engines. I feel bad for the poor residents of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch living in such a city country.
"It has been argued." What a chickenshit phrase.
I am declaring childcare to be racist, because mammies. Who's with me?
I demand that childcare be outlawed ... or at the very least, that all government funding of it cease.
Insane. Is there no depth these whiners won't plumb? Trevithick was white which in these days is enough to damn him, even in Wales, it appears. This reminds me of the placards placed in front of the nose section of Enola Gay when the Smithsonian opened an exhibit of the aircraft that then generated a HUGE and angry response from many.
Enslaving people has been an integral part of African and Middle Eastern societies for as long as humanity has existed, to this very day. Where do you think African slaves came from? It wasn't Welsh engineers that captured Africans and sold them to slave ships, it was Africans themselves. (And you can bet that in many cases, Africans were enslaving people as a legal punishment, an alternative to what we would now punish with prison or the death penalty.)
Maybe we should celebrate the societies that made the deliberate choice to abolish slavery, as opposed to those societies that still practice it today or were forced at gunpoint by the West to abolish slavery.
The reason that Slavery is nominally illegal in most of the world today is that sometime in the late 1700s, a group of Englishmen concluded that it's morally repugnant, and got busy convincing their government to take action against it. The Royal Navy fought against the slave trade all alone for six or seven decades before other European powers got on board.
Britain, like EVERY other country in the world, practiced slavery, but Britain led the world in ending it.
