Bill de Blasio: 1 Mask Good, 2 Masks Better
Plus: The media rechristens "kids in cages" as "migrant facilities for children," Matt Taibbi on cable providers potentially dropping Fox and Newsmax, and more...

Coronavirus developments across the country have largely taken a positive turn, with deaths and hospitalizations declining and new infection rates plummeting. Widespread immunity from a combination of vaccination and prior infection, as well as the likely seasonality of the virus, all point toward the strong possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic may finally be reaching its end.
But you would never imagine this was the case if you get your information solely from government and public health officials, who continue to insist that Americans practice aggressive social distancing and masking—even double masking.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, for instance, advised residents of his city to wear not just one mask, but two masks, until at least June.
"June is the earliest we would even consider changing guidance around masks," said de Blasio at a press conference on Tuesday. "It may be we continue that guidance for quite a while given what's going on. Keep doing exactly what you're doing, not just wear a mask, wear two."
De Blasio stressed that vaccinated New Yorkers should continue to follow every conceivable precaution out of concern for others, even though preliminary evidence strongly suggests that vaccinated people are substantially less likely to spread the virus at all.
"I would say to anyone vaccinated: Keep wearing that mask," said de Blasio. "It's also just the culture, we want everyone to remember that the mask-wearing culture has been part of what turned the corner for us, and we have to keep it that way until this is finally defeated."
This framing is ridiculous. Government mask mandates are an infringement on individual liberty—perhaps a useful one, but an infringement all the same—not some hot new cultural trend. People are understandably tired of having to wear them, they are sick of avoiding social gatherings, and they miss their friends and family. We were all asked to put up with an astonishing amount of misery for an entire year in order to keep the pandemic at bay. It's one thing for government officials to stress that people need to hold steady until they receive their vaccines, but it's quite another to implore them to be even more cautious even after they have been vaccinated.
It's not just de Blasio sounding an excessively pessimistic note: Anthony Fauci, the Biden administration's top coronavirus adviser, recently poured cold water on the idea that vaccinated people can enjoy normal life.
"There are things, even if you're vaccinated, that you're not going to be able to do in society," Fauci said during a White House press briefing on Monday. "For example, indoor dining, theaters, places where people congregate. That's because of the safety of society."
People are already dining indoors, of course—and have been for much of the pandemic. While this activity has certainly carried risks (COVID-19 spread has been linked to restaurants), those risks drop precipitously if everybody is vaccinated. The notion that we must all live under pandemic rules until some distant, illusory future when the coronavirus has vanished from the earth is demoralizing—and may even make people less interested in getting vaccinated at all—but many public health officials keep implying it.
Perhaps this isn't so surprising: In his excellent Slow Boring post on this subject, Matthew Yglesias pointed out that public health officials often make impractically cautious pronouncements on a whole host of health-related subjects.
"The thing about public health officials is that they are really into public health," wrote Yglesias. "The CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] once put out a bulletin urging sexually active women who aren't on birth control to preemptively abstain from drinking alcohol lest they risk accidentally exposing a fetus to the demon rum."
https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1364254748636024833
The upside of this is that everyone who is waiting for government leaders and public health experts to give them permission to live their lives as normal will be waiting forever. So don't be that person: Get vaccinated as soon as you can, wait for the protection to kick in, and then seize normalcy for yourself.
FREE MINDS
Read Matt Taibbi on Democratic lawmakers' letter to cable providers urging them to drop Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network:
Incredibly, Fox News may soon be the last line of defense against an all-out assault on the heterogenous free press as an institution, and people like me, who've despised the channel their whole lives, now find themselves in the unenviable position of having to defend the "Fair and Balanced" channel as a matter of self-preservation.
The local and alternative presses are already dying, and tech platforms have already successfully asserted their rights to censor. All that remains is to topple a behemoth like Fox as a show of strength, leaving an untouchable Soviet-style club of Chuck Todds and Jennifer Rubins and Max Boots in charge of disseminating an approved™ top-down version of reality. Remember "kids in cages"? Well, Donald Trump is no longer president, so The Washington Post has rebranded this disturbing phenomenon:
First migrant facility for children opens under Biden https://t.co/ADgQxIlMYU
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) February 23, 2021
It's true that President Joe Biden ended the Trump-era policy of routinely separating families caught crossing the border, but Biden did not abolish the practice outright. As Reason's Billy Binion explained, Biden's policy is for states to use their discretion when deciding whether to charge someone apprehended at the border: "It goes without saying that those indicted on criminal charges cannot take their children with them to jail, thus splintering families for the crime of trying to claim asylum. Hundreds are yet to be reunited. Some likely never will be."
Many children who arrive at the border are unaccompanied—they have no parents from which to be separated. They may have family members already inside the U.S., but the government is often slow to reunite them.
For its part, the Post maintained that criticism of the "migrant facility for children" line was unfair, given that the actual story did contain some criticism of the new practice. This is unpersuasive: The detention of children at the border received dramatic coverage from the mainstream media, often justifiably. Now is not the time to undersell the cruelty of hardline immigration policies.

Bill de Blasio: 1 Mask Good, 2 Masks Better
It's mask law.
"Nobody cared who I was until I put on the second mask."
Two masks good, four masks bad. What is the law?
The Babylon Bee is way ahead of DeBlasio, as they usually are.
We'll all be wearing leeches come spring.
"Hey! You can't come in here Ma'am unless all your kids are wearing leeches"
OK, but Canadians sure are weird.
Probably because we drink H2O instead of Hydrogen dioxide.
Yeah, sure, like water, eh? Take off!
Nobody finds your bigotry amusing, bigot.
Beats Hydrogen dioxide anyway.
3 masks or you want to kill grandma
"Do I hear four masks? Four? Going once, think of all the diabetics you could save? Going twice?"
"Four!"
"Four masks from the lesbian from Seattle! Do I hear five? Five masks, going once; this is a once in millennium opportunity to save all those people you think you care about, but can't be arsed to deviate from your daily routine. Do I have five?"
You only neen 1 whit conical mask that goes over your whole head with eye slats cut out
I had one of those for my dog so she wouldn't chew her stitches out. Another big benefit.
https://www.theonion.com/fuck-everything-were-doing-five-blades-1819584036
10 masks, and your chance of infection drops to *zero*.
If they're properly fitted, that is.
10 mask heck soon you will be wearing pillows just like Justice Scalia
Bingo.
Dems seem determined to undermine the vaccine as much as humanly possible.
Nobody can explain WHY anybody should get a vaccine when literally nothing in their life will improve. Still cannot do anything BUT you get the annoyance of scheduling an appt and then getting a shot you don't really want anyway.
Duh. Good comrades get vaccines because government programs tell them to, and obedience shows solidarity. Seeking personal gain would be immoral.
Nobody can explain WHY anybody should get a vaccine when literally nothing in their life will improve.
That's why I'm holding off on getting it as long as possible. I don't trust rushed vaccines that haven't been through rigorous testing, I don't support this insane notion that's emerging that we need to get innoculated from the common cold every year, and I don't see the point of getting it when these public health "experts" are saying that it won't matter anyway, because they still want everyone to wear masks and lockdowns/restrictions to continue anyway.
At least if I do get the coof, if I haven't had a mild strain already after nearly a year of going out in public every day, I know I'll have some natural immunity when I get over it.
They're just fucking with us now.
4 Legs good, 2 Legs Better
"Walk on two legs, not on four.
Walk on four legs breaks the law.
What happens when we break the law?"
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, for instance, advised residents of his city to wear not just one mask, but two masks, until at least June.
The governor would rather you don't breathe at all.
"leaving an untouchable Soviet-style club of Chuck Todds and Jennifer Rubins and Max Boots in charge of disseminating an approved™ top-down version of reality. Are you excited yet?"
Disregarding that absurd "Soviet-style" smear, yes, I am excited for that.

How to rig an election:
https://spectator.org/georgia-runoffs-voter-intimidation/?utm_source=LibertyNation
In the weeks before Georgia’s momentous election on January 5, 2021, some voters received an unusual letter supposedly from an institution called the Center for Civic Information (CCI). The outside of the envelope enticingly declared, “INSIDE: YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S VOTING GRADE.”
The enclosed CCI letter listed seven neighborhoods by individual residents’ names, as in “John Doe’s Neighborhood.” Each recipient’s neighborhood, designated with that recipient’s name, topped the list.
Next to this list were two columns. The first was headed “Current Grade” and contained letter grades for each neighborhood. The second column was headed “2021 Runoff Election Grade” and contained blanks for grades that supposedly would be awarded after January 5.
What did this mean? The letter explained, “Dear [recipient’s name]: ARE YOU AND YOUR NEIGHBORS PARTY VOTERS?”
The CCI’s letter claimed its records show “most Americans vote for candidates from both parties.” But, the letter continued, “some people keep blindly voting based on party alone.” The CCI explained it was “sending this mailing to you and your neighbors to publicize which nearby neighborhoods actually vote for candidates from both parties”
...Voters across Georgia described receiving similar letters, as reported here, here, and here. Recipients were disturbed by the idea someone was tracking their voting choices and by the threat to disclose those choices publicly, contrary to the American system’s cherished tradition of a secret ballot.
What are you talking about? This is exactly what a free and fair election looks like.
What part of cleanest election ever don't you understand???
Interesting sounds familiar like the person who may spend 10 years in jail for a Meme. what will happen to those who sent this.
A handshake, a four digit novelty cheque and a commemorative photo.
Ooh, pretty scary stuff. Some political group got ahold of the database of precinct voting data that pretty much every political group uses.
And bludgeoned them to death with it
Got a hold of? The election boards sell this data to anybody with a check.
Yes, I know. I have worked on Libertarian campaigns. We bought the precinct data just like all the other political parties.
Tell us again about how a guy sharing a meme on twitter is disenfranchising millions.
I don’t recall my ever making such a claim.

Biden’s HHS Pick Advocates Sex Changes For Kids.
https://thenationalpulse.com/analysis/schweppe-bidens-hhs-pick-advocates-sex-changes-for-kids/
Additionally, Levine infamously forced COVID-19 patients out of hospitals and into nursing homes and long-term care facilities, exacerbating the spread of the virus to the elderly and infirm, among whom it proved to be most lethal. Levine repeatedly downplayed this criticism, arguing it was a necessary part of the state’s coronavirus response, and that COVID-19 was already present in those facilities.
While Levine was actively putting these elderly residents at grave risk, Levine chose to personally play by a different set of rules by quietly removing a parent from a nursing home facility early on in the pandemic.
...Most alarmingly, Dr. Levine has advocated for sex changes for pre-pubertal people, otherwise known as “children.”
A professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine, Levine has given lectures in various settings since at least 2012 on how to perform sex changes and gender conversion therapy on children.
According to Levine, children ought to be given the latitude to choose their own gender. Levine has advised adults to “try not to force them one way or other [sic]” and instead to follow the child’s lead.
Levine is a sick fuck. That is all there is to it.
Pennsylvania is a dirty place. Sandusky. Levine. Ben Franklin. Yikes.
And the Amish.
Well, consider that not a single member of the Amish community has been cancelled by Facebook - - - -
Levine has advised adults to “try not to force them one way or other [sic]” and instead to follow the child’s lead.
This perverted fuckstick as a presidential cabinet member? Notice the word that missing from the above statement? Parent. Levine, like most Progressives, does not 'believe' in parental rights as evidenced by the language they use.
These people believe in government as the only authority from cradle to grave. They deserve derision and scorn. If they continue to erode our rights, they deserve to be removed by force.
Flagged. Go away pervert ya worshipping bigot!
Flag. Refresh.
She said puberty blockers prevent the "wrong puberty" from happening
Levine is a he LARPing as a she.
LARPing....lulz
The fact that Levine got the nod for Health and Human Services despite being the former Secretary of Health for Pennsylvania -- the state ranked 46th in COVID vaccine distribution -- indicates right up front that "first openly transgender cabinet member" was her real qualification for the job.

Who?
The daughter of Jimmy Olsen, of Daily Planet fame.
Surely you're aware of him!

When Trump was President,
@aoc
referred to migrant housing facilities as "concentration camps" and said the words "never again" mean something. Now that Biden is president, she's referring to them as "influx facilities."
Influx facilities, cargo containers, railroad cars all the same just different names. just don't volunteer for the group showers
No one volunteered for the showers.
I think you mean communal showers.

"Remember 'kids in cages'?"
Of course I remember how Orange Hitler built and ran literal concentration camps, putting kids in cages and forcing people to drink from toilets. I'll never forget that heartbreaking viral photo of tiny Brown bodies sleeping on the floor behind metal fencing.
But I also recall that Biden liberated those camps as his first official act as President. Problem solved!

They are migrant child happy centers now. This is why we closed down all Chuck E Cheeses across the nation for. To send them to the border to help migrants.

So don't be that person: Get vaccinated as soon as you can, wait for the protection to kick in, and then seize normalcy for yourself.
^^^This X1000
I am fortunate; I was vaccinated yesterday. I recited three bracha to thank God for sustaining me (and wife) to that moment. I also thought of a family member who died last year from Covid-19. It is a terrible way to die.
I am so done with all of this. I am tired of the endless lockdowns. I am really tired of 'Book of Karen' followers lecturing us. I am disgusted with hypocritical politicians who make rules for us, and then do not follow them themselves. I am sick and tired of hybrid schooling arrangements (teachers: get your asses back into the classroom!). I am tired of Fauci Fables, where the skinny little weasel lies through his teeth. I am sick of the isolation we are all living through.
This is coming to an end. I for one will be happy to get my old life back. I miss going out, socializing, and travelling. In hindsight, it was a monstrous mistake to lock down America. We fucked ourselves up royally.
I am profoundly grateful that I live in a country that has the talent, capacity and resources to create, mass produce and distribute a vaccine in under a year. There is no other place like this.
When your turn comes, get the needle into the arm. Then let's rebuild.
But you have to keep your mask on and not go out anywhere.
Heh, fuck that. Two weeks after that second jab, fuck the mask. If a store requires it, no choice. Otherwise, I am losing the mask.
Also want to fly domestically.
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/cj-hopkins-vaccine-disinformation-war
So, you think you are fortunate for getting an experimental biological agent in order to possibly, though not likely, lessen your chances of contracting a virus that poses an infinitesimal chance of killing you?
Yeah, if you think that way, Fauci does rule.
It may not kill you, but it can still really fuck you up.
Why not voluntarily get the harmless, free vaccine to hedge your bet? Potentially something to gain and absolutely nothing to lose.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you aren’t in the mine canary demographic, you’ll recover and move on with life.
Harmless? Free? Have you ever paid taxes? None of this is free.
Eh, I'll wait. I'm not in any sort of risk category, this vaccine doesn't seem all that effective anyway, and I don't believe for one moment that vaccination will be the end of the lockdowns. They will be like the heightened airport security after 9/11; a permanent fixture of life that everyone will hate and many will complain about but will never go away.
Do you think people would get on airplanes if we dismantled the security theater at airports?
You can't fire unqualified, unemployable, Affirmative Action hires. What would they do with themselves?
Why do I need an injection to act normal when my risk is less than driving to work daily?
“In hindsight, it was a monstrous mistake to lock down America.”
Not hindsight for most of us here.

Few before Biden, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln (who presided over the deadliest war in U.S. history and lost his mother at a young age and 2 sons), could authentically express sorrow in a way that provides comfort for a national tragedy
Jennifer Rubin is pathetic. Trudy Rubin is equally pathetic.
Over 100,000 innocents were murdered by the China virus during the SleepyJoe regime.
IMPEACH!
I heard that our Dear Leader Joe Biden also beat Tiger Woods in a golf tournament and Michael Jordan in a basketball game.
He also drove the golden spike into Transcontinental Railroad defeating a robot in the process while riding upon a blue ox.
Have you seen the picture of him riding a horse shirtless? So manly.
Pretty sure any of us could beat tiger woods in a golf tournament.
Too soon?
What is his handicap going to be now?
Tiger can no longer drive with any precision.
And to think... just last week Reason and other leftists were glad nobody worshipped Biden.
EMPATHY!!!
The neocons are migrating back to the party they abandoned in the 1970s.
The Republicans are no longer the party of corporatist regulation, eternal war and closeted ass sex. 🙁
Time to go back.
Wasn't Lincoln racist or a slave owner or something? Is Jennifer Rubin advocating white supremacy? I think she should be fired just in case.
It makes sense since he remembers the Lincoln presidency.

Fascinating study showing how bad people are at guessing statistics. Half of liberals said cops killed more than 1,000 black people in 2019. (The correct answer is 27 deaths.)
Quote Tweet
Recall that the average guess of US COVID fatalities back in August was 9%. To save you some math, that would have been almost 30 million dead.
I have found that the deaths are somewhat politically connected. I am a Centrist. I don't know anyone personally that has died. Life is pretty normal where I live. People are distancing but mask wearing is going away quickly.
My ultra left sister and her husband claim to know at least a dozen people that have died from Covid. They are still completely locked down. I'm guessing that most of the dead they claim to know are portly members of their hardcore Democrat "Diabetes Denial" club.
Yup.
How and Why Government Creates Disease Panic
https://www.aier.org/article/how-and-why-government-creates-disease-panic/
Efforts to hide the truth won’t end soon. It’s been almost one year since Covid-19 lockdowns began in America. Yet, many days still bring evidence of ongoing, out-of-proportion reactions to the virus. Teachers’ unions refuse to go back to work. Nursing homes extend cruel policies isolating elders from loved ones.
Like many of us, Don Boudreaux wants to know “What’s so special about this communicable and dangerous disease that causes humanity to treat it as differing categorically from the countless other communicable and dangerous diseases that we regard with utter blasé-ness?”
Philipp Bagus, José Antonio Peña-Ramos, and Antonio Sánchez-Bayón (subsequently referred to as Bagus) in their journal article “COVID-19 and the Political Economy of Mass Hysteria” provide comprehensive answers to Professor Boudreaux’s question. They argue that “people have been scared by SARS-CoV-2 to an extent not easily explainable by their own minuscule risk of death from it.” The article exposes causes of widespread “irrational behavior.”
Bagus considers “how the modern state influences the development and extension of mass hysteria” and creates “adverse consequences for public health.” It’s easy to manipulate risk perceptions, they write, “when risks are viewed as unfair, uncontrollable, unknown, frightening, potentially catastrophic, and impacting future generations.”
You don’t have to deny Covid-19 or its terrible consequences to consider why good news like Makary’s is largely ignored. Bagus points to “biased media coverage, incomplete and asymmetric information, personal experiences, fears, inability to understand and interpret statistics, and other cognitive biases” as factors that “lead to distorted risk judgments.”
To be sure, the human brain is wired for negativity bias, so mass hysteria can occur without government manipulation. Bagus explains:
“There can certainly be mass hysteria without the state in a private law society or within the context of a minimal state. This possibility exists due to the negativity bias of the human brain which makes people vulnerable to delusions. Due to biological evolution, we focus on bad news as it may represent a possible threat. Focusing on negative news and feeling a loss of control may cause psychological stress that can develop into a hysteria and propagate to a larger group.”
There is another very strong reinforcing loop that inflates hyper-cautious government policy, cycling between officials and nervous if not paranoid people. Most people under 30, most educated urban elites, and most women have irrational fears of all risk and a single-minded bias for trying to minimize harm. The more we let these groups set policy, the more locked-down we will be.
And look at what all this mask-wearing and restrictions failed to do--stop 500,000 people from dying anyway (assuming those numbers aren't cooked so bad they're burned to a crisp), the bulk of which took place during the normal flu season when EVERY respiratory illness takes a jump.
The 500K happened in spite of the restrictions! There is no way whatsoever so that people would have changed their behavior on their own!
Locally, the second wave predated the normal flu season (we usually don't see the flu season hospitalization spike until January; COVID reemerged in November), and there has been no flu season to speak of (we've gotten under 20 positive flu tests across 10 hospitals since Oct 1).
So the changes in behavior almost certainly decreased the total deaths seen to date, but people like DeBlasio thinking they had much to do with it are off base. Compare/contrast California to Florida, for example.
Further demonstration:
Covid-19 Vaccine Success Won’t Eliminate Virus Risk, U.K. Concludes
The disease will continue to take a heavy toll even if the shots work, government advisers project
Spot the flaw:
There was some hand-wringing article on Yahoo talking about how "public health experts" are supposedly worried that these new strains will all evolve and merge into an unstoppable superbug, like the Constructicons coming together to form Devastator.
These people are absolutely addicted to fear porn.
Coronavirus developments across the country have largely taken a positive turn, with deaths and hospitalizations declining and new infection rates plummeting.
BECAUSE 2 MASKS, THAT’S WHY!
I think it's more because the viral particles are starting to learn to fear the mask.
Most clever virus evah!
And Biden.
No, they are afraid of the nasty, snazzle-toothed, brown, horror show of teeth inside the typical Briton's mouth.
Anyone else see Garlands hearings?
“An attack on a courthouse while in operation — trying to prevent judges from actually deciding cases—that plainly is domestic uh uh um um uh uh extremism uh uh um um uh uh um domestic terrorism,” Garland explained before adding the following caveat: “An attack simply on government property at night, or under any other kind of circumstances, is a clear crime and a serious one, and should be punished.”
On one hand he declares Kristallnacht a non domestic terrorist event as it happened at night. But his testimony also does something worse... he defines terrorism as interrupting government activities. One of the democrats biggest complaints of the Tea Party where their open disruptions from various town hall events and government meetings. Garland is setting up rationale to go after people the government doesn't like for protesting and petitioning their government.
The only thing made clear this week is that McConnell was right to hold up his USSC nomination.
Guy is terrible.
Get vaccinated as soon as you can, wait for the protection to kick in, and then seize normalcy for yourself.
Careful, Robby. Apparently such, um, advice may be flirting with terrorism.
#BidenBoom update.
In 2021 Democrats have raised the minimum wage by: $0.00 / hour
In 2021 Reason.com benefactor Charles Koch's net worth has increased by: $3.13 billion
I wasn't alive during the 1980s, the so-called "decade of greed." Did Reagan ever create such a billionaire-friendly economy as Biden already has roughly one month into the job?

Neither did Biden. All virus deaths under Biden should still be blamed on Drumpf. (And Ron DeSantis and other Republican governors.)

https://www.theverge.com/2021/2/24/22297686/browser-extension-blocks-sites-using-google-facebook-microsoft-amazon
The Economic Security Project is trying to make a point about big tech monopolies by releasing a browser plugin that will block any sites that reach out to IP addresses owned by Google, Facebook, Microsoft, or Amazon. The extension is called Big Tech Detective, and after using the internet with it for a day (or, more accurately, trying and failing to use), I’d say it drives home the point that it’s almost impossible to avoid these companies on the modern web, even if you try.
Currently, the app has to be side-loaded onto Chrome, and the Economic Security Project expects that will remain the case. It’s also available to side-load onto Firefox. By default, it just keeps track of how many requests are sent, and to which companies. If you configure the extension to actually block websites, you’ll see a big red popup if the website you’re visiting sends a request to any of the four. That popup will also include a list of all the requests so you can get an idea of what’s being asked for.

Did Gavin Newsom write this? It doesn’t even make sense. As punditry, it’s dumb and incoherent. As pro-Newsom propaganda, it’s laughable. “The chickens should avoid securing their coop,” the fox wrote. “Their efforts are only going to make the wolves mad.”

"If [California Republicans] force an unpopular, expensive and annoying recall vote for a still-popular governor with just months to go in his term," @ChrisStirewalt writes, "California voters may punish the GOP in 2022."
...Imagine supporting the unconstitutional impeachment of Trump when he wasn’t even president anymore and then turning around and saying voters should leave Gavin Newsom alone because he only has 2 years left in office. It’s as stupid as it is intellectually dishonest.
“If [California Republicans] force an unpopular, expensive and annoying recall vote for a still-popular governor with just months to go in his term,” @ChrisStirewalt writes, “California voters may punish the GOP in 2022.”
Yeah, California might turn into a one-party state. Oh, wait.....
Trump recap:
worst jobs record since the Great Depression
worst single year and four year GDP since the Great Depression
escalates trade wars and fails in trade deals
fails to build wall and make Mexico pay for it as promised
fails in pandemic response
record deficits – up to 5x higher than his predecessor left
attempted overthrow of election
complete disregard for US Constitution and democracy
failed allies and NATO
gave Iran runway to develop nuclear weapons
Trump = Total failure
(repost - for ML - no, Trump didn't "cause" the pandemic but like Obama "owned" the aftermath of the 2008 Bush Financial Meltdown Trump owns what happens while POTUS)
You're a fucking idiot.
2nd that.
I understand you're Mr. Team Red, Ken. But facts are facts. You could do like Mothers Lament and declare NOT HIS FAULT! but you cannot avoid facts.
You can't indeed avoid facts, which is why your little puddle of lies looks so ridiculous.
It's ridiculous. It's all just partisan hack talking points.
"worst jobs record since the Great Depression"
worst single year and four year GDP since the Great Depression
You mean because of pandemic induced lockdowns, etc.? You're blaming Trump for California's and New York's lockdowns?
"fails to build wall and make Mexico pay for it as promised"
He failed to build the wall, but we had the biggest government shutdown in U.S. history over funding for the wall.
'
Shrike thinks Trump should have tried harder--because Shrike is so anti-immigration, he wanted the wall at any price?!
https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/25/trump-shutdown-announcement-1125529
Meanwhile, Trump renegotiated NAFTA, and faulting Trump for not making Mexico pay for the wall is effectively faulting him for not increasing tariffs on Mexico in the USMCA.
But elsewhere in that list, isn't Shrike faulting Trump for tariffs and a trade war?!
That's self-contradictory. Pick one.
Again, Shrike reads these as talking points somewhere, doesn't understand what he's reading, and regurgitates this stupid shit because he isn't smart enough to know that what he's saying is stupid. That's been his daily MO since forever. In short, he's a fucking idiot.
I've posted him study after study showing the lockdowns were the primary driver of reduced economic output, but he blames Trump for the local government actions. He is a true idiot.
And he really doesn't deserve any more of a response than that.
He doesn't care whether he's right or wrong. He's just a troll--and a stupid one at that.
My brother blames Trump for everything that has happened in Chicago. When he is asked why Obama isn't to blame for Chicago, he quickly spouts off an unrelated MSM claim or quotes by their "Journalists". It is difficult to watch. He was always rational until MSM and CNN became his thing. I have to think that he is siding with his abusers due to paying Chicago taxes all these years.
Gave Iran runway to develop nuclear weapons

So their adherence to the IAEA restrictions during the Trump administration, and then the outright admission that they are no longer adhering to the restrictions after Biden's presidency is what, international tongue-in-cheek theater?
You forgot to mention:
started World War 3 with Iran
was a 3-decade Russian intelligence asset (confirmed by Mueller Report)
literally turned this country into The Handmaid's Tale
ran concentration camps
put kids in cages
created an economy in which only some billionaires (not Charles Koch) prospered
what about the norms? Our precious norms...
Trump recap for our retarded friend Buttplug:
Goofus – “worst jobs record since the Great Depression”
Gallant – Best jobs record in decades until the Covid pandemic. Did Trump invent Covid and are you retarded?
Goofus – “worst single year and four year GDP since the Great Depression”
Gallant – Best GDP in decades until the Covid pandemic. Did Trump invent Covid and are you retarded?
Goofus – “escalates trade wars and fails in trade deals”
Gallant – Swapped NAFTA for the infinitely superior USMCA. Are you retarded?
Goofus – “fails to build wall and make Mexico pay for it as promised”
Gallant – The wall is still being built. What kind of idiot expects a wall from the Atlantic to the Pacific to materialize overnight. Are you retarded?
Goofus – “fails in pandemic response”
Gallant – (He finally recognizes the pandemic happened) Do you not understand Federalism? Covid management is the domain of the governors, not the president. Are you retarded?
Goofus – “record deficits – up to 5x higher than his predecessor left”
Gallant – Oops, what happened to the pandemic? Maybe explain how veto proof budget bills are Trump’s and not Pelosi’s fault. Do you even know how government works? Are you retarded?
Goofus – “attempted overthrow of election”
Gallant – The election was a fraudulent sham, and so are your Reichstag fire claims of insurrection and overthrow attempts. Are you a fascist?
Goofus – “complete disregard for US Constitution and democracy”
Gallant – By the people who filled DC with troops based on a lie?
Goofus – “failed allies and NATO”
Gallant – Fuck NATO, you fucking warpig… also, what ally did he fail? Dishonest warmongering retard.
Goofus – “gave Iran runway to develop nuclear weapons”
Gallant – Who is Obama?
Also:
First Step Act
Attempted rapproachment with the DPRK
Peace deal with the Taliban
Peace agreement between the Serbs and Kosovars
Peace deals between Arabs and Israelis
No New Wars
Trump = Best president ever. He did more for Trade and world peace than any president since WW2.
(repost – for Buttplug – I don't give a shit about George Bush and believe he's just as responsible as anyone else for the 2008 financial crisis, so you can cram you're false equivalancy and your dishonest narrative up your lying ass)
So basically you say NOT HIS FAULT!
Fuck off, troll.
Flagged bigot pervert lover. I was hoping you froze to death. Please tell me if you visit the NW!
Piss off, sarc.
They invented impaling for annoying little fucks like him. The body needs to be left on display so all the others can see the consequences.
It doesn't work. Look at our modern version. Rappers lying in the street, shot dead with their pants gathered around their ankles. The wale of their mothers as the soundtrack. They couldn't run fast enough because they didn't wear a damn belt and their pants fell down in a ghetto gunfight. It is hard to maneuver with your pants around your ankles, it ensures that they would only get "second prize" today.
That scene only encourages the "denizens of the ghetto". Do you see them wearing belts?
Flag. Refresh.
Of course, unless he invented Covid. Now pull out your Vince Smith sockpuppet to disagree.
No, we say: Fuck off and die, turd.
I’m surprised Joe Biden is off the hook for Texas.
And for the 100,000 covid deaths of Americans that have occurred in his brief time in office.
Awesome. Goofus and Gallant...ha ha
You spammed this yesterday, you hicklib pederast.
Hey buttplug, I guess nobody told you but Trump isn’t president anymore. He’s been gone for a month now. He’s an historical figure.
Why don’t you regale us with your knowledge of the failures of the Grant administration?
This just in: Trump's not president anymore!
Prove to us that masks work. If you can smell odors through a mask, then viruses can get through. Plain and simple. Masks don’t work, and nobody is offering proof that they do. Imbeciles.
To quote Billy Jeff, it depends on your definition of "work".
If you mean "work" to slow or prevent the transmission of the Communist Chinese Virus, then no, they don't work.
If you mean "work" to aid in the fascists takeover of the USA, then they are working so well the fascists have doubled down.
The propaganda: "Wear two masks".
The science: "cloth face coverings have no proveable medical impact on virus transmission".

"It's also just the culture, we want everyone to remember that the mask-wearing culture has been part of what turned the corner for us, and we have to keep it that way until this is finally defeated."
People used to accuse rednecks of thinking this way.
We do what we do and believe what we believe because we're rednecks. It's the culture.
What a jerk off!
Remember Jeff Foxworthy's, ". . . you might be a redneck"? If your dad walks you to school because you're in the same grade, you might be a redneck.
Now we have De Blasio's, "If you wear a mask unnecessarily, because you heard Trump said you shouldn't wear one, you might be a progressive".
If you fly private flights to Davos to discuss climate change, you might be a progressive.
+1
If you support shooting unarmed protesters in defense of civil society, you might be a progressive.
"Remember "kids in cages"? Well, Donald Trump is no longer president, so The Washington Post has rebranded this disturbing phenomenon"
What is something that ENB or Sullum would never write?
I suspect they'll condemn "kids in cages" again. The interesting question to me will be to see if they ever get around to blaming DACA for the surge in children.
Refusing to consider the possibility that promising not to deport people who come here as children might encourage people to send their kids here is clearly progressive "thinking".
In January, the refugee office received more than 4,000 migrant children, compared to the 39 minors it placed in its shelters in May 2020, when the U.S. government was expelling most border-crossers, regardless of their age . . . .
CBP recorded 5,900 apprehensions of unaccompanied minors and 7,500 of parents and children along the U.S.-Mexico border last month, numbers not seen since July 2019 and January 2020, respectively. The figures, however, remain below historic monthly highs in May 2019, when U.S. border agents processed 11,000 unaccompanied minors and 88,000 parents and children.
----CBS News, February 22, 2021
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/u-s-shelters-for-migrant-children-near-maximum-capacity-as-border-crossings-increase/
When we did the numbers at the worst of the asylum crisis under the Trump administration, some 80% of the asylum seekers were either children traveling alone or families traveling together--not to mention that they were coming in at a monthly rate of almost 100,000 per month. This compares to a few hundred asylum seekers--almost none of them children--that we used to see from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras combined before DACA.
And yet I've never seen a journalist anywhere suggest that Obama's DACA order might to blame for children coming here en masse. It's another one of these situations where the elitists that run our news organizations either 1) imagine their purpose is to propagandize the public 2) are afraid of being cancelled if they say something anti-immigration, or 3) have no idea what they're talking about.
I maintain that if you want to see the status of "the dreamers" get out of limbo, we need to get rid of DACA first. Representatives from swing districts and senators from swing states have disincentive to anger voters on either side of the immigration debate by solving the dreamer issue one way or the other so long as DACA is there to keep the precious puppies from being deported.
If DACA had been declared unconstitutional--as it obviously is--Pelosi would have had legislation passed in the House to save them that afternoon, and the next morning, a handful of Republicans in the Senate would have been under tremendous pressure to join the Democrats and send it to the president, and Biden would have legitimate legislation to protect the dreamers from deportation already on his desk. In other words, admitting the truth--that DACA is a major contributor to the asylum crises we keep seeing since 2012 if not the primary contributor--is not anti-immigration per se. It certainly isn't anti-immigration if the only way to get the dreamers out of eternal limbo is to get rid of DACA.
DACA worked exactly as intended. To suggest that a “crisis” was created by it, or even that one exists at all is anti immigrant in 2021.
Get with the times, dude.

One person familiar with the Biden admin’s Afghanistan discussions told me a full withdrawal by May 1 is “off the table.”
That leaves an extension beyond May 1, or an indefinite stay.
No valid reason was given for staying.
Damn that warmonger Trump for causing war in the Middle East.
The biggest concern at the State Department today is figuring out how to get the Arabs and Jews fighting again.
This is a big reason that politicians are trying to keep the lockdowns and restrictions in place through the rest of the year--because they don't want their constituents giving them shit at town hall meetings where they might get blasted for their corrupt banality.

Garland hasn't "really thought about" whether illegal border crossings should be considered a criminal act. But that in itself is a message to would-be migrants: if you can get it, you can probably stay. This is how you create a border crisis.

It’s just a fact that the people who spent the last 4 years claiming to be so very worried about authoritarianism are absolutely committed to using their new power as the majority party to censor their adversaries off both the internet & cable using bullying tactics like this:
It's because they know that they lost the election, and Trump won, probably by a landslide, so they enacted a coup and now they're absolutely terrified of the people.
Nobody who had won an honest election would fill DC with troops.
Nobody who had won an honest election would start a military purge.
Nobody who had won an honest election would try to shut down free speech.
Nobody who had won an honest election would build fences (which they have 'always' claimed don't work) to keep the citizens out of their own capital.
Hey this is fun! Everyone join in!
Nobody who had won an honest election would promise to ban guns via executive order.
You forgot, mean tweets.

She crossed the Rubicon at the State of the Union last year, when she dramatically ripped up President Trump’s speech as she stood behind him.
That single act of desecration incited more anger among conservatives than anything Trump had to say.
“When she tore up the state of the union, they started this war,” says a relative of Richard Barnett, an Arkansas 60-year-old jailed over the riot, who placed one foot on what he thought was Pelosi’s desk in an act of reciprocal disrespect.
Pelosi has no problem with violence, either, as long as it furthers her aims: “I just don’t even know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. And maybe there will be,” she said in 2018 when railing against Trump.
“People will do what they do,” she said at the height of the BLM-Antifa riots last July, when rioters ripped down a statue of Christopher Columbus and threw it in Baltimore’s Harbor.
Of course, when you point out the hypocritical double standards of Pelosi and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during last years’ riots you are mocked for “whataboutism.”
But it matters. The Dems spent seven months fanning the flames of left-wing discord and violence. Then, when the worm finally turned, and right-wing violence flared one day in Washington, they morphed into law and order hawks scouring the country for unrepentant signs of conservatism.
Almost everyone arrested around the country remains in jail over the riot, even if they committed no violence, have no criminal record, have stable jobs, are retirees or a mother and son duo.
The only person released without bail is a left-wing anti-Trump activist, John Sullivan, who prosecutors say encouraged the violence that day, and was rewarded with $75,000 by CNN and NBC for his video footage.
The aim is to bankrupt and destroy Trump supporters, most of whom can’t afford the legal fees. While top DC law firms raced to defend Guantanamo Bay inmates pro bono, the Capitol rioters are on their own.
MAGA will have its day in court eventually, after months in jail far from home, unlike the thousands of violent anarchists who created mayhem from coast to coast last year, injuring thousands of cops, burning down police stations and destroying small businesses.
Most BLM-Antifa rioters were released without bail and had charges dropped.
In New York more than 400 rioters and looters arrested in June were freed without bail.
In Washington DC, in June, almost everyone charged with felony rioting was released from jail and later had the charge dropped.
In Pennsylvania, when one judge set bail for rioters at $1 million, he was intimidated into reversing the decision after a mob marched on his house.
In California, a district attorney reportedly requested prosecutors consider looters’ “needs” when deciding to press criminal charges.
The message is clear: much, much more violence is necessary
My conspiracy hackles are up over this fence thing…were they just looking for an excuse to fortify the capital because of what they plan to do? I cannot think of any legitimate reason for the continued presence of troops and the fence, all the trouble makers have either been arrested already or gone back home. The only explanation I have is they are afraid of the backlash from what they are about to do. What if they begin passing laws that are extremely unpopular…like serious gun grabs or reparations, or voter laws that make it impossible for the other side to win another election? And then don’t allow the supreme court to overturn them? They begin a purge of federal employees and military who don’t agree with them whole heartedly? If they begin going after governors like DeSantis or Abbot. If even if enough signatures are gathered they don’t allow a recall in California because it was White supremacists who put it together? If we start seeing fencing going up around the capitol buildings in Albany and Sacramento what can we do then. I think they are about to boil the frog; I had hoped this would not happen until I passed on but it may be coming to a head in the next few years.
"Government mask mandates are an infringement on individual liberty—perhaps a useful one, but an infringement all the same—not some hot new cultural trend."
Uh, Robbie, where the hell have you been hiding? Nothing has emerged in recent decades that signals trendy politics like the face mask. Thus nothing will convince the die-hard believers, i.e. activists, to leave their masks at home--or allow any of us to do that.
One plastic bag and a zip tie is all you need to 100% prevent COVID transmission for the rest of your life.
Now that's cooking with dynamite!
Two masks
I smell the beginnings of a grand bipartisan compromise here.
If you can smell, those masks aren't working!
I can still breath, do I need another mask?
If two masks were good then doctors and nurses would be wearing them. They are not.
I had this debate with a Karen a few weeks ago. What the CDC and WHO recommend are masks with two layers, not two masks. Nearly every mask out there has two layers, many have three. There is no need for two masks unless you have crappy ass masks that your mom stitched up for you out of an old curtain.
I'm still using the blue paper ones. I will not purchase a cloth mask nor will I accept one as a gift because that would be accepting this mask nonsense as a permanent thing it my mind. Which I refuse to do.
I have a cloth mask. Work also gave me a work branded cloth mask. The cloth masks are handy in that you can toss them into the wash. But quite frankly, the cheapo Chinese made paper masks are more comfortable.
I may get a tye-die cloth mask though, just because it would be the height of style.
Quite frankly, masks are going to be a part of culture whether we want it or not. It's not about government, it's about what everyone expects. It may go away over time, but one should prepare for a cultural expectation of mask wearing for the next couple of years.
but one should prepare for a cultural expectation of mask wearing for the next couple of years.
I so hope you're wrong.
For its part, the Post maintained that criticism of the "migrant facility for children" line was unfair, given that the actual story did contain some criticism of the new practice.
I heard this same passive-voiced bullshit from liberals during the Trump years when it was pointed out that the photos and even the practices themselves dated to the Obama era--"Well there was some criticism then, too." No, there wasn't. The only reason you're pitching a fit about this now is because a Republican is in the big seat.
I can't believe I'm doing this, but at least AOC has the integrity to call for total open borders and no immigration laws at all, instead of this fork-tongued double-speak the left-liberal establishment practices whenever a Democrat is in charge of things.
The problem wasn't the passive voice from liberals. The problem was the raucous cheering from the "conservatives".
No, the problem was TDS-addled shits like you constantly lying; it's what TDS-addled shits do.
No, the problem was the double standard from liberals. Thanks for playing, though.
If you don't want to have your family broken up and your kids locked in cages, don't walk around without your papers. C'mon. It ain't that hard. "Papiere, bitte"
It takes a TDS-addled shit like this to compare illegal immigrants with kids to the Nazis.
Are you posting to push the "stupid" bar down to the ground?
It takes a TDS-addled shit like this to compare illegal immigrants with kids to the Nazis.
Comparing illegals with kids to Nazis? No. I'm comparing you and your fellow Trumpistas to Nazis. Not immigrants with kids.
The first step towards slaughtering people is dehumanizing them, which is what you have successfully done with respect to undocumented immigrants and anyone who disagrees with your politics.
You wouldn't even be able to claim "Just following orders" as an excuse because you'd relish every thud.
"Comparing illegals with kids to Nazis? No. I’m comparing you and your fellow Trumpistas to Nazis. Not immigrants with kids."
So you admit to STUPID; thanks, that out of the way.
"The first step towards slaughtering people is dehumanizing them, which is what you have successfully done with respect to undocumented immigrants and anyone who disagrees with your politics."
TDS-addled shits filled with inappropriate cliches are the second step to proving STUPID. Again, thanks.
"You wouldn’t even be able to claim “Just following orders” as an excuse because you’d relish every thud."
I assume a TDS-addled shit like you thought that means something.
Third strike; Out, asshole.
You're telling me that you consider immigrants and those who disagree with your politics to be human beings? That's a laugh. You've completely dehumanized those who are enemies in your mind. You would cheerfully commit murder because in your mind it's not murder since you're not killing a human being.
"You’re telling me that you consider immigrants and those who disagree with your politics to be human beings?"
Your hoping someone thinks you have two brain cells? That's a laugh.
I'll take that as a no.
Of course you would; your entire 'argument' is based on your fantasies. Why stop now?
Fuck off and die, you pathetic piece of shit.
My entire argument is based upon you constantly telling people to fuck off and die, and meaning it. It's based upon you continually throwing personal attacks at anyone who disagrees with you. Your words tell me that you don't consider me or anyone else who disagrees with you to be a human being. You'd cheerfully watch me die, and you'd be happy to speed up the process. You're a camp guard without a camp.
"...It’s based upon you continually throwing personal attacks at anyone who disagrees with you. Your words tell me that you don’t consider me or anyone else who disagrees with you to be a human being..."
So it's based on your fantasies caused by being called on your constant bullshit? Why, that explains it very well indeed.
Hint: Stop constantly shoveling bullshit and you won't get called on it and you won't have to make up funny stories to explain why you are called on it.
Is anything that ever happens to you your fault?
You don't call people out on their bullshit. That would be saying "You're wrong, and here's why." No, you just fling poo like a monkey and then sit back all smug like you accomplished something. You want to call people out? Tell them why they're wrong. Add something to the conversation.
You're just a hateful monkey flinging poo who would cheerfully rip your enemies limb from limb.
Stop acting like an animal. Be a human being.
He hasn't dehumanized anyone sweetie. You keep making claims so you can avoid any rational argument.
Well, you know, Sevo, besides sarcasmic’s fantasies there are the hundreds of comments you have posted day after day saying things like “Fuck off and die”.
Well, you know, Sevo, besides sarcasmic’s fantasies there are the hundreds of comments you have posted day after day saying things like “Fuck off and die”.
Not hundreds. Thousands. He has wished death upon people who disagree with him thousands of times.
Well look what we have here! Another example of sarc insulting someone then crying when they insult him back!
You really enjoy playing the martyr, don’t you sarc?
And more than one instance of Sevo wishing death on people who agree with him, too. Or wishing death on obvious parody comments.
R Mac does not get the difference between insulting someone and wishing death on someone.
Neat how you two dishonest little monkeys are trying to infer that Sevo's earnest wish is essentially death threats.
And here Sarcasmic uses the common leftist tactics of replacing illegal immigrants with "immigrants".
And here JesseAz uses the common Nazi tactic of replacing immigrant with "SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS OR I'LL KILL YOU!"
And the primary Biden Cultist on this board comes out swinging!
You are laughably pathetic. Recognizing the issue of illegal immigration isn't dehumanizing anyone sweetie. You use that excuse so you can avoid any form of logic.
Weren't you just complaining how people argue from emotion. Look at your argument here. You don't want an honest discussion so you immediately go with appeal to emotion.
I don’t recall sarcasmic saying anything that would indicate he’s a Biden cultist. He consistently takes libertarian positions.
According to JesseAz my lack of sufficient condemnation of Biden combined with criticisms of Trump equals tacit support for Biden. Remember that if you don't condemn something then you support it. And even if you do the goalposts will be moved to the point where you've got to issue thirty official condemnations before you can be certified as someone who is not tacitly supporting that which you have publicly condemned.
In short - I said bad things about Trump which means I support Biden because criticism of Trump equals praise for the other guy.
I have an open offer to JesseAz. I’ll say a bunch of critical things about Obama, Biden, Harris anytime he wants. I’ll throw in Hillary, too. Just one condition attached: he has to thereafter acknowledge that I made said criticisms.
He won’t take me up on it.
Why not just do it you whiny bitch?
I do make negative comments about Biden and Harris sometimes. Not so much Obama or Hillary, considering one hasn't been president for four years and the other never was president.
Dishonest people will put lots of work into their lies. They will spend as much if not more mental energy that we spend on finding the truth into creating their lies. JesseAz is one of those people. There is nothing honest about him. He cultivates lies like I cultivate thyme and parsley.
Arbeit Macht Frei!
It's sad that you don't even realize that the largest issue has always been the unaccompanied minors and how to handle them. Not sad actually.. expected.
I’ve yet to hear one of these lefties offer the appropriate action when unaccompanied minors come across the border with coyotes.
What cheering? Responding to the fact that the Flores agreement set under Clinton kind of tied their hands on options on how to handle underage migrants that came across without their families?
"The media rechristens "kids in cages" as "migrant facilities for children,""
Well, WK rechristens "murder" as "justifiable shooting of a trespasser", and "dying of a stroke" as "beaten to death with a fire extinguisher".
TDS is still with us.
Oh, and the TDS-addled shits rechristen "enforcing immigration laws" as "Nazisim"; see TDS-addled shit just above.
It was chemjeff, not me, that said shooting of a trespasser is justified. I happen to disagree.
What I have said is that shooting the person at the head of a violent mob that is trying to break through doors into the Speaker's Lobby, with apparent intent to harm members of Congress, the Vice President, and their staff is justified. That's more than mere "trespassing".
"It was chemjeff, not me"

"U.S. semiconductor firms account for 47% of global chip sales but only 12% of production, because they have outsourced much of the manufacturing overseas, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association," Reuters underscores. "In 1990, the U.S. accounted for 37% of global semiconductor production."
> The media rechristens "kids in cages" as "migrant facilities for children"
If only the Republicans knew how to wrap abhorrent practices in fluffy packages, no one would have cared about them cheering on the kids in cages. Any GOPers out there praising Biden for continuing Trump's effort towards a kinder, gentler, whiter nation?
If only TDS-addled shits like you wouldn't constantly lie and cheer the lies of the media, perhaps we'd get some honesty from the media.
Any GOPers out there praising Biden for continuing Trump’s effort towards a kinder, gentler, whiter nation?
They should be out there giving Biden credit for treating illegal immigrants like the sub-humans that they are. I mean, they don't even have papers! How can they be human beings without papers?!? “Papiere, bitte”
More of sarcasmic's appeal to emotion instead of actual reason and discussion. Typical.
You still don't understand when someone isn't being serious. Or you're a liar. I don't think you're that stupid, so I'm going with liar.
Lol, there it is.
There’s no way the media will ever let republicans wrap anything in a fluffy package.
Is this why the literal white supremacists supported Biden over Trump?
If progressives would admit that promising not to deport children incentivizes people to send their children to the United States by the hundreds of thousands, our immigration policies would almost certainly be more decent and humane.

"Widespread immunity from a combination of vaccination and prior infection, as well as the likely seasonality of the virus,"
Vaccinations have fuck-all to do with the decline in covid.
I remain an adherent of the original government edict: "No need for masks, they are for medical professionals only."
Everything since has been fascist revisionism.
If the fascists were actually following the science their exceptions would be updated to include those vaccinated, and those who have had the virus, and an admission that "cloth face coverings" are not equivalent to an N95 mask properly fitted and worn without touching.
Coronavirus developments across the country have largely taken a positive turn
Politicians hanging from lampposts? Guillotined? Shot?
"WASHINGTON—U.S. Senators Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) today announced plans to introduce the Higher Wages for American Workers Act, legislation which would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $10 and mandate E-Verify to ensure the wage increase only goes to legal workers. The bill will also index future minimum wage increases to inflation and includes protections for small businesses."
----Mitt Romney website
https://www.romney.senate.gov/romney-cotton-plan-would-raise-minimum-wage-protect-jobs-legal-workers
I suspect Romney still wants to be president, but what he's demonstrating here is the worst kind of Bush Jr. era Republican leadership.
Set aside the fact that requiring businesses to ask the government for permission to hire people is a violation of our freedom of association and an invitation for progressives to stop businesses from hiring people who've been accused of "hate speech" on social media (like opposition to gay marriage, opposition to affirmative action, or support for Trump's border wall).
The bad leadership comes from proposing progressive and socialist legislation in the hope of staving off something even worse. One example of this in the past was TARP, which if enacted under a Democrat president might have been much worse--or so the story went. Actually, TARP was so bad by itself, support for it among Republicans mandated an almost total purge of the party establishment, and all the Republicans who lost their seats for supporting TARP either regretted their support or are lying. FFS, TARP enabled Obama to nationalize GM and bail out the UAW. Thanks for nothing!
Likewise, more or less the same thing happened with Bush Jr.'s Medicare prescription drug benefit. The reason Republicans were supposed to support that was because it was better than what the Democrats would introduce--but we ended up with ObamaCare anyway in addition to the Medicare prescription drug benefit.
That's probably never going away.
I'm all for choosing the lesser of two evils when we're in a situation with mutually exclusive alternatives, but this isn't one of those situations. The Medicare prescription drug benefit was not the alternative to ObamaCare. It made it easier to pass ObamaCare because the Republicans had already done some of the heavy lifting by expanding Medicare. Passing TARP wasn't the alternative to bailing out the UAW and nationalizing GM, and passing TARP wasn't the alternative to a recession or dead beat borrowers being foreclosed on either.
Ultimately, my understanding is that the Democrats don't need any Republican support for raising the minimum wage to $15--because the Democrats plan to push it through as a budget reconciliation, meaning that the Republicans can't filibuster it. If that's the way it is, Republicans jumping on the bandwagon to support a higher minimum wage--even it it's less than what the Democrats want--won't prevent Democrats from passing whatever they want. It will merely serve to suggest that Republicans don't oppose such things in upcoming elections in 2022 and 2024.
The ACA was huge gift to the Republicans' success in the subsequent House race, and Romney's capitulation would only serve to deprive Republicans of that advantage come 2022.
Romny is was and always will be a scumbag socialist

All that remains is to topple a behemoth like Fox as a show of strength, leaving an untouchable Soviet-style club of Chuck Todds and Jennifer Rubins and Max Boots in charge of disseminating an approved™ top-down version of reality. Are you excited yet?
Why set up a faux centrist and two former conservatives as the supposed coordinators of this messaging? AOC routinely makes comments dumber than anything ever uttered on Fox but no one is threatening to limit her. The leaders of the approved reality are more Nikole Hannah-Jones, Rachel Maddow, and AOC. Quit pretending there's some moderation in the official news.
The issue here is not to be angry at the Biden administration in a shallow game of tit-for-tat, the issue is to realize we never should have spat the vitriol to the Trump administration. If there is cruelty going on at the border... mistreatment, malnutrition, poor conditions-- those should be criticized. But calling the simple act of separation 'cruel' is horseshit.
If you're catching people illegally crossing the border with no identifying papers, and they have children in tow, there must be a way to verify the relation of the adult to the child in tow-- for the simple purpose of avoiding cruelty to the children from someone who might be completely unrelated and have nefarious intentions.
I have no doubt that the federal system moves slow... too slow and that like any massive bureaucracy requires reforms to make it more efficient. But just screeching "kids in cages" and "seeking asylum" is a gross reduction of the complexities occurring here.
Bill de Blasio: 1 Mask Good, 2 Masks Better

Are you excited yet?
BTW, Matt Taibbi has been very good on this issue and I recommend people follow him. And Reason, did you notice Taibbi used the word "censor" here, which we've been repeatedly told isn't possible as long as corporations are doing it?
Oh, and:

I feel like I'm surrounded by teenagers.
Yep. I'm giving money to him and GG now. None left for Reason.
I quit giving to Reason 3 years ago, and I'm going to put Taibbi on my donation list. GG and a bunch of substacks are already there.
I disagree on a lot with Taibbi, but he's consistent on freedom, unlike most of the creeps wearing libertarian skin suits here.
As a journalist, he's a stark standout on freedom. His quaint, outmoded views on freedom of speech are right in line with my own.

Tears of rage pouring down his face...
Right. JesseAz has a talent for intentionally mischaracterizing things, so let's look at his list:
* Officer not bludgeoned to death -- Nobody said he was bludgeoned to death. The widely-reported story was that he was hit with a fire extinguisher (not bludgeoned) and died of a stroke as the result. That still might be the case -- the only contrary evidence is an anonymous source that says the coroner, who we should not well has not made a final report nor made any public statements, says there was no external signs of blunt force trauma.
* Protestors did not bring zip ties - The claim was that ONE GUY, Eric Munchel (not multiple "protestors"). The latest is that the handcuffs were lying around and he grabbed them: "'Zipties. I need to get me some of them motherfuckers!" That is not in any way better.
Also, didn't Munchel lie at one point and say he brought zip ties to hang flags. Maybe you are the one who told that lie, not Munchel.
* Bombs were not placed in the Capitol: The story was that pipe bombs were placed at RNC and DNC offices, not the Capitol. As far as I know, that story still stands.
* There were not capture kill teams: I've never said anything about "capture kill teams" because I don't even know what that means.
* AOC did not almost die: I've never said anything about that, either. As far as I know, nobody ever said she almost died. She expressed anger toward some other Congress person and said something along the lines of "you tried to have me killed." "You tried to have me killed" is not equivalent to "I almost died."
Now, there's a ton of stuff JesseAz is glossing over. Most importantly, Sicknick DID die the night of the riots, from a stroke. You act as if the leak from the coroner's office negates that fact.
HO2 and NaCL3
Tears of joy pouring down your face while you salivate over the possibility of a second American civil war. You suck.
Robby frequently gets that red pill right up to his lips, then tosses it aside before taking it.
"NaCL3"? Now, there's an embellishment.
It's "Cl", by the way, not "CL". Oh, look, you accidentally made a typo in a chemical formula. Let's immortalize your typo!
Yeah but you did repeat most of those lies though.
You keep on claiming I want war, even though you're the one shilling for it.
Now, there’s a ton of stuff JesseAz is glossing over. Most importantly, Sicknick DID die the night of the riots, from a stroke. You act as if the leak from the coroner’s office negates that fact.
No one has claimed he didn't die from a stroke, you disingenuous sack of shit. You're just claiming, without evidence, that "battling with the crowd" is what caused it.
"That still might be the case... the only contrary evidence is an anonymous source"
And his mom.
https://newsbeyonddetroit.net/2021/02/23/capitol-police-officer-brian-sicknicks-mom-says-son-died-of-a-stroke-not-a-blow-to-the-head-but-authorities-are-staying-mum/
"the handcuffs were lying around... That is not in any way better"
"He picked up zipties that were lyinG aRouNd, people! That totally justifies my long running narrative that he came equipped with the plan to take congress hostage"
"Bombs were not placed in the Capitol"
Or even on the same day. Funny on how the bomb story seems to suddenly be getting minimized.
"You act as if the leak from the coroner’s office negates that fact."
His mom's statement does though.
Bullshit. It’s is highly, highly likely it is the cause. It is not absolute, conclusive evidence but it is strong evidence.
Bullshit. You have no evidence whatsoever, and continue to make this claim because you desperately want it to be true in order to save face.
"HO2 and NaCL3"
"It’s “Cl”, by the way, not “CL”
Fucking facepalm.jpg
Are you trying to be retarded on purpose?
If I were so concerned with saving face, I would not have posted a comment saying “I stand corrected” about the certainty he was attacked with a fire extinguisher.
I admit when I’m wrong, but I’m not going to go beyond what I was actually wrong about to start buying into the right-wing dismissive narrative. Unlike CACLLS here, I care about the truth.
