The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has condemned the naming of the city's hospital for Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The hospital was renamed in 2015 for Zuckerberg after he donated $75 million for a new acute care and trauma center. Supervisors criticized Facebook for not doing more to protect users' privacy or to stop the spread of misinformation. The renaming was approved by a previous Board of Supervisors.

They need to eat some Rice-a-Roni and chill out.

If that doesn’t work, Zuck should hit them over the head with a rainbow flag pole. Seriously, either give the man his $75 million back or keep the name. It’s not like they’d never even heard of Facebook when they accepted his donation.

Soon to be renamed Alowishus Devander Ambercrombie hospital.

    1. Inigo Montoya   5 years ago

No mention of Fitch? Ambercrombie was nothing without Fitch. It was Fitch that sold the hunting and camping gear that attracted the likes of Teddy Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway. Fitch’s presence delayed A&F’s becoming just a another clothier for preppy teens.

      1. R Mac   5 years ago

        Was Fitch’s name Mud? No.

  8. The Encogitationer   5 years ago

Does a hospital named after The Zuck perform outdoor, open-air ditch-medicine surgery and make medical consent a default instead of an opt-in? Does it allow random passers-by to give prognoses? Does it pull the plug on both politically and physiologically "unwoke" patients? Sounds about right.

    1. Don't look at me!   5 years ago

They do all those things while selling your information.

  10. Fist of Etiquette   5 years ago

Board of Supervisors could always cough up $75,000,000.01 of their own money.

    1. Quo Usque Tandem   5 years ago

But virtue is just priceless. And if it costs anything, it is with other peoples money.

      1. The Encogitationer   5 years ago

So no HIPPA compliance at The Social Network Hospital?

Jesus! An old-timey Old West saw-bones Doc with no anesthetics except a rag to bite on would have better bedside manner.

        1. The Encogitationer   5 years ago

Sorry, That was meant for Don't Look At Me.

  11. Jerryskids   5 years ago

At least the Board has their priorities straight, passing a non-binding resolution to remove Zuck's name from the hospital (but not his wife's since she's not a white male), instead of mucking about with shit that actually affects people. Now if we could only get the rest of government to restrict their activities to virtue-signalling bullshit that doesn't matter at all to anybody.

  12. Longtobefree   5 years ago

Gonna be real funny when all the supervisors find that they have no on-line presence at all, and their phones won't even make a call anymore. Personal bank accounts, including certain offshore ones, will magically drop to zero, and all their smart home appliances will conspire to kill them in their sleep.

    1. R Mac   5 years ago

As long as it’s a private corporation and not the government doing it to them what’s the big deal?

      1. jimc5499   5 years ago

I agree with you. One question. Why does the Board of Supervisors, a Government entity, have to approve something so minor as a name change?

        1. m4019597   5 years ago

Public use charter or public land lease agreements are the two most common reason for government involvement in a name change.

      2. m4019597   5 years ago

When a private company does things that are only possible because they have the support of government, they are an arm of government.

Facebook has government contracts and works to support politicians and benefits from legislation, including the crushing of upstart competition. It could not be the Facebook of today, in all its largesse, without government.

Facebook is a publicly owned entity, owned in majority by people and funds that are owned by people. It’s not private in any sense.

Facebook is a public arm of government, by any realistic view of things.

  13. Sometimes Bad Is Bad   5 years ago

SF government would rather let people wallow in needles and shit.

But yeah I get it Zuck is terrible too.

    1. The Encogitationer   5 years ago

I agree with you here too. San Francisco would be an especially bad spot for Zuck Hospital to do ourdoor, open-air, ditch-medicine surgery. Both/and.

  14. Earth Skeptic   5 years ago

So Zuck is just like the rest of us who pay the majority of social support costs, through donations and taxes, and then get shit on instead of "thank you".

    1. Quo Usque Tandem   5 years ago

He gets shitted on for being privileged. And there is no amount of money, be it charity, taxes, or outright gifts, that can suffice to cover that when there is virtue to be signaled.

  15. Kungpowderfinger   5 years ago

The POS just unsuccessfully spent millions of his own money to get parts of CA’s prop 13 repealed also. The plan was to raise state property taxes on business owners beyond prop 13’s limits.

Screw him, let him go broke trying to pander to CA and the Democrats that own it.

  16. Quo Usque Tandem   5 years ago

"for not doing more to...stop the spread of misinformation."

And that is the heart of the matter. That's what you get for not tote'n our water, chump!

  17. TangoDelta   5 years ago

Clearly Zuck didn't contribute nearly enough to the campaigns of the current board members. They'll not be denied their graft!

  18. Unicorn Abattoir   5 years ago

If they change the name of the hospital, you won't be able to find it on with a web search, or locate it on Google maps.

  19. wiwolo   5 years ago

Get $192 hourly from Google!…Yes this is Authentic since I just got my first payout of $24413 and this was just of a single week… I have also bought my Range Rover Velar right after this payout…CMs It is really cool job I have ever had and you won’t forgive yourself if you do not check it...
