Here's Who Has Tested Positive for COVID-19 in Congress and the White House
Plus: Texas attorney general accused of bribery, Homeland Security wants credit reports on immigration sponsors, and more...

Since President Donald Trump's announcement late last week that he and his wife have the coronavirus, several White House officials, members of Congress, and others who interacted with the president have announced that they too have tested positive.
Since last week, three Republican senators—Mike Lee of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin—have said that they have the virus.
"Lee and Tillis, both members of the Judiciary Committee, attended the Sept. 26 Rose Garden ceremony where Trump announced his selection of [Amy Coney] Barrett, with more than 150 guests sitting shoulder to shoulder, most not wearing masks," reports The Washington Post. The Rose Garden event is suspected to be the site of initial spread for Trump and his allies.
Barrett tested negative on Friday, according to the White House. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife also tested negative.
Pence is now "the GOP's one line of defense between a hospitalized commander-in-chief and a President Nancy Pelosi, and he's about to depart Washington on a four-day campaign swing in the middle of his boss's health crisis," notes Politico.
Meanwhile, Trump 2020 campaign manager Bill Stepien, senior presidential counselor Hope Hicks, presidential assistant Nicholas Luna, and former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway (and her daughter) have all tested positive.
Tonight I tested positive for COVID-19. My symptoms are mild (light cough) and I'm feeling fine. I have begun a quarantine process in consultation with physicians.
As always, my heart is with everyone affected by this global pandemic. ❤️
— Kellyanne Conway (@KellyannePolls) October 3, 2020
So did University of Notre Dame President John Jenkins, who was at the Barrett event in the Rose Garden, and Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel. And so did former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19. I want to thank all of my friends and colleagues who have reached out to ask how I was feeling in the last day or two. I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition.
— Chris Christie (@GovChristie) October 3, 2020
The president himself is reportedly doing better, after being taken to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday, experiencing "drops in his oxygen saturation," and being put on steroids and other coronavirus-treatment drugs. But a series of seemingly staged "work" photos and a flurry of conflicting information from White House sources and Trump's doctor have a lot of people doubting the accuracy of any news on this front.
In any event, the president's Twitter account has been on an all-caps bender this morning.

On Sunday night, Trump took an SUV joy ride, which many have been criticizing for putting the car's driver and secret service agents at risk.
QUICK HITS
• Homeland Security is proposing a rule to "hold immigrant sponsors accountable for failing to meet the obligations of contracts they sign with the federal government." U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced last Thursday that "the proposed rule would require those who sponsor a green card for an immigrant to provide—along with the affidavit form—credit reports and credit scores, certified copies of income tax returns for the last three years, and bank account information," reports the Miami Herald.
• Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's staff is accusing him of bribery and other misconduct.
• Video shows a Kansas City, Missouri, police officer kneeling on a pregnant woman's back after she allegedly interfered in an arrest they were making at a gas station.
• U.S. Customs and Border Protections: keeping America safe from…glass bongs.
• Pennsylvania lawmakers won't stop pushing a reinstatement of inflexible mandatory minimum sentencing schemes, which do away with judgicial discretion at sentencing in favor of a one-size-fits-all requirmenet. "The sponsors are determined to reinstate mandatory sentences for several offenses, including offenses committed with firearms and for certain drug offenses committed with firearms," explain Keenan Rambo and Samantha Jallah in a Philadelphia Inquirer op-ed.

"...the following people are gay:"
They need to end pass/fail and go back to letter grades.
Too meritocratic.
I quit working at shoprite and now I make $65-85 per/h. How? I’m working online! My work didn’t exactly make me happy so I decided to take a chance on something new… after 4 years it was so hard to quit my day job but now I couldn’t be happier.

Fun fact. The Rose Garden picture shows Thom wearing a mask.
So either masks don't work, or there was some other more private indoor gathering where the transmission actually occurred.
Masks work by keeping droplet-born virus from your exhalation from forming a cloud around you, and infecting others, thus the six foot distancing. So masks work to minimize exposure when we all wear them. Mask do not infringe on your rights. Not wearing them infringes on someone else's rights.
Do please explain, serf.
Go butt a stump, Sarge.
The following people are going to get COVID despite wearing a face diaper:
One can almost sense the glee of Elizabeth Nolan Brown with POTUS Trump contracting Covid-19. She did everything short of putting Nyeah, Nyeah in her daily Unreason diatribe.
Most of the people on that list seem fairly healthy and should pull though, but then there’s Chris Christie.
Hey man, this isn't the Daily Stormer.
Concern troll is concerned.
If it can kill Christie it can kill Jeff.
I’m confident, if we are hearing it feom you, that the “chemjeff is fat” trope is backed by solid facts. After all, you are not know for distorting or misquoting what others have said.
Need a notarized fat club membership card.
lulz

He said he was fat when I asked him.
Again, I am confident if you make a claim like this that it is 100% true, and you are not in any way twisting or mischaracterizing what was actually said.
Actually, I didn’t express any concern.
Anyway, I don’t wish anything bad upon the guy.
Nancy did it

Arrest them for HIPAA violations.
"Lee and Tillis, both members of the Judiciary Committee, attended the Sept. 26 Rose Garden ceremony where Trump announced his selection of [Amy Coney] Barrett"
Have the contact tracers found the smoking arrow yet?
11 of the pre prep team at the Cleveland clinic had covid. About as far back as I have seen for origin.
On Sunday night, Trump took an SUV joy ride, which many have been criticizing for putting the car's driver and secret service agents at risk.
Impeach the motherfucker.
The Secret Service knew the job was dangerous when they took it.
Why cant previously Kungflu recovered Secret Service agents be on his detail?
Trump's little stunt leaving the hospital blew the Lefty Narrative out of the water that he was about to die in a hospital bed.
Lefties dont see what Trump will do with his Wuhanvirus recovery. Like all stupid Lefty plans that have failed, this will too blow up in Democrat faces.
Trump will tell Americans how it wasnt bad and they have nothing to fear except Democrats and their scare tactics.
Pretty much, Covid can knock you on your ass for a couple days (my dad had it), but for most people its not a big deal.
Yeah, ridiculous that people are talking about it as if having covid means you are likely to die.
Average American think 9 million people have died in the US.
No, the KEKST-CNC poll revealed that Americans believed an average of 9% of the country had already died, back in July. That would be almost 1 in 10, or more that 29 million people.
It is 200 million according to one source.
at least he's nowhere near the levers of power
Nor will he ever be; even if elected.
Hmm, didn't some other president once tell Americans not to give in to fear?
Yeah, but he was another guy that the doctors covered up his condition, especially so he could get re-elected.
The Media covered up FDR's crippling condition, if you can believe that.
I'm thinking more of FDR's heart problems. Would voters have elected him again in 1944, with unknown running mate Truman, if they had known FDR was at death's door?
Dewey came close, even without that extra information. FDR's closest Presidential election, though he still won the popular vote by 8 points.
People were getting tired of their wartime leadership. Churchill famously lost to Atlee before WW2 finally ended in the Pacific.
What?
FDR's polio was never covered up--that would have been impossible, since he got it right after the 1920 election.
Now, a lot of his medical issues WERE covered up during the war years, when he basically worked himself to death, but that's not unusual. Kennedy's Addison's disease was covered up for decades, and Reagan was clearly starting to suffer from the early effects of Alzheimer's towards the end of his time in office, even if no one talked about it.
everyone talked about it
Inside D.C. closed rooms. Not so that the general public was all that aware.
Anecdotally, Nancy did a fierce job of protecting him and---allegedly---ruling in his stead, circa 1987 and 88. It helps when you've experts like Shultz, Baker, and Weinberger helping out too.
They don’t take their cues from me, but what the most solid talking point they could go with is to point to all the care and treatments he has received, and that he will walk out of the hospital with no bill, whereas most people would walk out with a sizable bill.
False. Most people have insurance.
I wasn’t arguing how true it is. I was opining that it would be the strongest talking point the Democrats could go with. I just saw, after I made the comment, that AOC is already making remarks along this line.
The truth is that a lot of the Americans most likely to be hospitalized would be covered by Medicare. The much smaller group of people who are younger but hospitalized for COVID-19 but insured would have to pay a deductible, and an even smaller group wouldn’t have any insurance.
I used the think the GOP were kings of unforced errors, but the Dems have really picked up their game over the last 5 years. All they had to do was wish him well and wait and see. Then if he recovers, fine, they get credit for being decent people. If he doesn't recover then he's made their point for them that COVID is dangerous and everyone need to obey. But no, they had to take the low road so that no matter what they look bad and when he (likely) recovers he can downplay their warnings to his own political benefit.
Even some Democrats are fracturing on this point.
RBG did not get the glees of death like Trump is getting from some Lefties. Its unsettling for many people trying to act moderate.
Biden was caught lying about removing all negative ads. Still playing even yesterday. Yet Facebook removed 200 trump ads from rotation.
Trump called a lid at 3pm. Biden called one at 930 am.
Joe is busy practicing saying "shut up" for the next debate.
All he has to remember is which questions get the "shut up" answer, and which get the "that's not true" answer.
He is a two trick pony.
When is Debate #2. Joe is likely altering his sleep schedule to prepare for it.
The new narrative is that Trump never had the coronavirus at all, it was just a hoax to show the virus was no big deal.
Yet he's still somehow endangering the people in the car with him.
It's getting hard to keep up.
that's right. the SS will step in front a bullet, how worried are they about a virus with a 99.5% survival rate?
The driver and the agent will have a new tell-all book coming out....
Chapter 3: “He coughed!”
Maybe the driver and assigned agents already had COVID and are immune. It's what I'd do if I were responsible for the president's safety.
This is staggeringly obvious to everybody but the left.
Jennifer Rubin wants trump locked up for reckless endangerment. Her insanity is beautiful. A mix of Tony and JFree.
Funny watching a pharmacist correcting journos on Twitter obsessing over dexamethasone (which he says is dirt cheap, incredibly common, and he dispenses at his pharmacy daily)
You're not climbing Everest without it available, though you may not need it.
...three Republican senators—Mike Lee of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin—have said that they have the virus.
FAKERS. There oughta be a law.
It should be noted that Ron Johnson like the President Trump attended a fund raiser while waiting for test results. Good news is both men will be giving attendees something for their donations, bad news is what they were giving was Covid19.
Not bad Shreek.
So what, pussy?
Thillis wore a mask at the WH event. I was assured masks protected you from COVID completely.
I’d someone assured you of that, they were overstating the case for mask, which is only that they reduce the chances of transmission.
I’m going to need a certified and notarized test showing what that exact percentage is.
Here's Who Has Tested Positive for COVID-19 in Congress and the White House
Who cares? The Kungflu is not more dangerous than the Flu/Cold and certainly not more dangerous than heart disease in the USA.
Trump blew the Lefty narrative out of the water that he was "incapacitated" or needed to contact Pelosi about succession plans.
Trump left the hospital and waived to supporters ruining the Lefty Narrative that he was hooked up to breathing machines and could die at any moment.
Poor Lefties.
Corporate Media Is Vomiting Trump Coronavirus Reporting All Over The Bed
COVID is certainly (a bit) more dangerous than the flu if you're in a vulnerable group. It's also more dangerous in that we don't have a vaccine yet and we don't know it's long term risks. None of that means we need to panic-kill the economy, but denying it completely isn't helpful either. If you're in one of those vulnerable groups you'd do well to protect yourself so you don't become a statistic to be abused by statists to the detriment of everyone else. Also, your family and friends might not like it if you died.
Seems like a fair assessment. Oh, and yes heart disease kills more each year, but I won't give my friends and family heart disease by hugging them or breathing on them.
Some doctors are trying to change that narrative.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/is-obesity-contagious/#app
You won't give them covid either.
And if you don't have COVID (a very high probability) you will not give that to your friends and family, no matter how intimate you get.
What about when you cook them one of the unhealthy holiday meals or fat laden bbqs in the summer?
Booze is all forms will counteract that.
At least there is some joy and pleasure in consuming some nice BBQ and having that be what touches off your coronary episode.
Attending a boring political event, where you have to sit on a folding chair and listen to speeches, not worth it. Maybe they had good hors d'oeuvres.
Also, your family and friends might not like it if you died.
That isn’t true for many people.
I said might. I've read enough copy to know how to hedge like a real journalist.
I don't think that's fully accurate. I like rbg a whole lot more than I did 4 weeks ago. I admire her recent turnaround on individual liberty and freedom from Gov mandates.
She actually looked better "in repose" than alive.
Few in my family wears masks. Even the 65+ years olds. Death happens.
Georgia is not really doing the mask thing and we are fine.
That's the way it should have been since the beginning. Media bobbleheads are saying that the NFL just needs to shut it down now that Cam Newton caught it, even though professional football players should be the last ones we worry about getting put down by the coof (except, possibly, for a few 2-down fatass linemen). Schools are in limbo because just a few cases ends up bringing up calls to go to total online learning, and we're already seeing increases in child endangerment issues such as suicides and depression due to keeping kids isolated from each other.
The stats bear out that, unless you are a total hamplanet, your chances of actually dying from this are nearly miniscule even if you do catch it. Maybe instead of masks, we need to make it mandatory that white-collar workers go outside and run around their office building for 30 minutes a day.
^1000
"Maybe instead of masks, we need to make it mandatory that white-collar workers go outside and run around their office building for 30 minutes a day."
And this is where you lost all the "real libertarians", in addition to the leftists.
baseball had a lot of cases and a lot of games postponed, but managed to get in the full 60 game shortened season. only one player had serious complications from COVID-19 and had to sit out the year. even the scaredy-cat Left Coast Pac 12 decided to have a football season, after seeing everyone else do it. One small college football player has unfortunately died from COVID-19, but he was in a risk group (over 350 pounds), and there's no evidence he caught the virus from playing football.
As I mentioned above, admittedly with a lack of show of respect for the former governor, that may be true for most of the attendees, but not necessarily so true for Chris Christie.
Hey, pathetic lefty serf. I will make a wager with you. If Christy dies I will never post here again. If he lives, we never have to read your drivel again. Agreed?
...the president's Twitter account has been on an all-caps bender this morning.
His Twitter lungs remain uncompromised.
Stephen Hawking didn't need to talk in all caps to be heard!
To be fair, not many people understood the things he was talking about.
To be completely fair, neither did Hawking.
Like many smart people and famous people he often strayed from his area of expertise.
If people should not talk about things without expert knowledge, what would the media do?
we should all heed his warning on talking to aliens though
The media just loathes the fact that Twitter lets Trump talk past them to the people.
Jack Dorsey probably hates it too.
+100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
This is another great thing about Trump. He was advised or figured out how to ditch the Lefty Gatekeepers.
If Trump were smart, he would open up an account on one of the Twitter competitors, and then start posting his tweets to both. And over a period of weeks, he should start posting to the competitor 2, 3, 5, 15 minutes faster.
The press, no matter how much they love the Twitter still want to be the ones getting the scoop. So they will start moving over to that site, specifically to get the early message. And then after a few months he can turn off Twitter.
That would be a pretty funny way to fuck with the press, and in all honesty, if he's smart, he'd do that anyway if he still wants to use social media after this little adventure is over.
I guarantee Jack Dorsey will have some mentally ill tech goon sitting with his mouse cursor over "Cancel Account" to shut his Twitter account down about 15 seconds after the next President is formally inaugurated. The only reason they haven't done it already is because it's now considered an official Presidential account.
Parler already has a trump tweets bot that retreats his messages immediately.
If Trump were smart he’d run his tweets by someone before hitting the post button. But then he’s probably posting a good number of them whilst sitting on the toilet, so that would turn into a President Johnson type situation.
There is no proof of your accusation.
Admittedly. It was blatant speculation.
SNL was being pushed even though nobody watches that show anymore.
It showed SNL cast members not wearing masks and not being 6 feet apart.
The Kungflu hysteria is clearly politics at this point, since the "elite" get to do things you cant do...because reasons.
They're smarter than the little people and less likely to engage in risky behavior (excepting drug and alcohol binges and anonymous sex).
The age of the sex partners, general. Don't forget the age of the sex partners.

Orange Man Bad
Great. Now a full thread of sqrsly and WK xalling you a thread shitter.
Oh god not more of those two racists.
Sorry, my bad, but the thread will be less full of shit if people wouldn't feed those trolls (especially Tony)
Ohhh say Mormon 3 times and kill all rednecks shows up
Tony's not THAT bad. As prissy and arch as he can be, I've never considered him to be a troll.
I assumed Tony was originally one of those Correct the Record trolls, dutifully doing his part to help Her get elected. His posts used to have a certain “inspected by 8” quality to them as if he was being monitored by the person paying him to post here. Then Trump won, moved into his head rent free, and he descended into his own version of darkness.
Tony is at least honest (inaccurate as it is). He's not a passive aggressive little bitch.
He talks shit but has the balls to take a position.
Much more respect for him than for the dickless squad.
Tony's been around a LONG time, longer than quite a few of the commenters here. If he was getting paid by one of Brock's or Soros's outfits, he would have abandoned this place years ago.
You need to talk to Mother’s Lament about that. He would not shut up about orangemanbad. Ironically, in the comments on an article where Matt Welch explicitly avoided saying anything about Orange Man Bad.
Oh fuck off, you lying weasel.
Every bit of Welch's article, from the title ("Donald Trump Is an Enemy of Freedom") to the very premise was orangemanbad. He didn't "avoid saying anything about Orange Man Bad", every square inch was dedicated to that proposition.
This is Tony level dishonesty.
To be fair, it seems to keep sqrlsy from posting the long “....oh he bad all right.....” repetitive post over and over. Seems he’s not taking the bait for whatever reason. Which might have been the strategy.
I’d call that a win for all of us. And I hate collectivism.
What are you talking about? Mother’s orangemanbad comments totally touched off a bout of SQRLSY pasting his rants all over yesterday’s threads.
I'm not Sqrlsy's keeper.
Those Guatemalans sure are racist, aren’t they?
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced last Thursday that "the proposed rule would require those who sponsor a green card for an immigrant to provide—along with the affidavit form—credit reports and credit scores, certified copies of income tax returns for the last three years, and bank account information..."
The government doesn't already keep that information on everyone? That's heartening.
Three keystrokes would pull up all that info, but that would be efficient. Can’t have that.
At least they're pretending they don't already keep all that information.
This is just to see if you'll lie to them.
It’s a trap!
If you go to sign up for the IRS online payment portal, they verify your identity by asking you questions about your credit cards, loans you have outstanding, etc.

But then they don't get to exercise their power over you.

Ban fire, and then by association, fire-arms. Logic is easy.

Video shows a Kansas City, Missouri, police officer kneeling on a pregnant woman's back after she allegedly interfered in an arrest they were making at a gas station.
Roe says they can do that.
What are the odds that knee on back is a response to “no knee on neck” like changes?
I watched the video a couple of times. I can't tell she was pregnant at all in the video. Does someone have a better angle? How many months is she? Did she alert the cops or is this an after the fact type of outrage? Why is she interfering in an arrest if pregnant?
Democrats, You Can’t Count On the Hispanic Vote President Trump’s standing is as strong as it has ever been.
In the 2016 campaign, 28 percent of Hispanics voted for Mr. Trump, despite his openly racist language, saying Mexico was sending rapists to the United States. Polls now suggest that he has not just largely maintained his support among Hispanics nationwide; it has actually increased in key states.
Uh-oh Democrats. Black Americans voting for Republicans and now Latino Americans voting for Republicans.
Hey.
Even though 97% of Hispanics disapprove of the verbiage, it’s LatinX, you fucking White supremacist. Don’t you know that far left white college educated kids could be reading this?
Nah. College kids are too lazy to read. Now if this comment section became a series of video clips...
The last thing I want to see is what the commentariat looks like.
Latinx is racist. There is no way to pronounce it in spanish
The he called all Mexicans rapists is another manufactured lie. He said the birder allowed rapists to cross. Which is true since it is reported up to half of women are molested or rapes by coyotes or fellow travelers when crossing illegally.
Pennsylvania lawmakers won't stop pushing a reinstatement of inflexible mandatory minimum sentencing schemes...
The problem with having a full-time state legislature when the commonwealth only needs part-timers. They have too much time to think this shit up and not enough time at home reading the room.
Doesn't the Texas legislature only meet for 6 months every other year or something like that? Seems like the right way to do it.
Hell, just do it by ballot initiative. "Do you guys think we need a legislature this year? Yes/No".
Well, isn't Pennsylvania a commonwealth with only one Republican in statewide office, and he is retiring in 2022?
Vote for democrats, you get fascists.
The Pennsylvania House and Senate have Republican majorities. Republican lawmakers are quite capable of supporting neo-fascist ideas all on their own. They also love gerrymandering and voter suppression. I am actually shocked that they passed vote by mail so that anyone can request a mail-in ballot, but that was done last year when they didn't see COVID19 turning things upside down. They are currently doing an ineffectual job of trying to suppress mail-in voting.
On Sunday night, Trump took an SUV joy ride, which many have been criticizing for putting the car's driver and secret service agents at risk.
Not possible, everyone had their face diapers on.
The Rose Garden event is suspected to be the site of initial spread for Trump and his allies.
I blame the makeover.
I thought there was a 2 week incubation period?
That's more the upper limit. I think 5 days or something like that is the average.
It's whatever suits the narrative. If a bad person participates in a non-sanctioned activity and they develop symptoms in 2 hours, then the incubation period is 2 hours. If they don't develop symptoms for a month after their recklessness, well, that just means it hasn't happened YET. There is so much we don't know about this virus!
"Video shows a Kansas City, Missouri, police officer kneeling on a pregnant woman's back after she allegedly interfered in an arrest they were making at a gas station."
And? I'm going to have to demand an alternative restraint method be provided by anyone complaining about this, that would not have resulted in more violence.
Economic sanctions?
Unless she was being extremely uncooperative, I can think of plenty of other ways.
What happened to the Billy club, a good old swipe to the back of the knee will take just about anyone down. Cops have gotten spoiled with all these newfangled Tasers and sprays.
How Civil Disobedience Curbed The Michigan Governor’s COVID Abuses Of Power
The draconian lockdowns she imposed on Michigan led to protests that attracted national attention in May. These protests were peaceful, although some protestors were armed. But the national media and Democrats in Michigan criticized the protestors as violent right-wing extremists.
Trump will win Michigan...again.
Some critics went further and made religious arguments against the protests, asserting that Romans 13 requires Christians to respect and obey the governing authorities.
"You should accept lockdowns and mask mandates because Jesus said to submit to authority in the Bible somewhere.
No, I'm not a Christian and I have nothing but contempt for your backward religious beliefs. So yeah, this argument wouldn't work on me, but maybe if I use it on you, you'll do what I want."
And those protesters WERE obeying the governing authorities that were legally executing their office. I believe the proper response to tyrants abusing their powers is covered in second Hezekiah, verse four. "and they shall be dragged from their palaces and cast into the outer darkness.".
"On Sunday night, Trump took an SUV joy ride, which many have been criticizing for putting the car's driver and secret service agents at risk."
Yeah, that whole take a bullet thing is so white troglodyte (and therefore beyond ENB's comprehension).
They're supposed to take a bullet for him, not from him.
Democrats’ Socialist Lurch Will Hurt Them In Florida For Years To Come
They couldn’t wait until everyone who remembers just how awful socialism can be die off.
Because their conversations are driven by the Blue Checkmark Society. I think that they genuinely believe that everyone agrees with them because everyone on Twitter agrees with them.
That's what Cubans are for.
It will take awhile.
The older ones remember Castro, the younger, Maduro.
And everyone remembers the policies they espoused, and the actions they took.

Doubt the reason liberaltarians will watch. Same with Uncle Tom. Narrativr above facts.
The actress turned director created “America’s Forgotten” after stumbling across the story of young Gurupreet Kaur, a 6-year-old Indian girl who died of heat stroke while attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
What the fuck is a Brahmin-caste Indian doing immigrating through the southern border? Don't they already have cheap medical care?
Gujral says she reached out to a friendly neighbor, a well-known professional film editor, about working on the project. When the editor learned the film’s revelations it led to the end of their 20-year friendship.
Woof. Funny how the radical left operates like a religious cult now.
The American People Need To Know What Joe Biden Knows About His Family’s Profits From China
Trump: Once you became vice president he made a fortune in Ukraine, in China, in Moscow, and various other places.
Biden: That is not true.
Trump: He made a fortune, and he didn’t have a job. … Why was he given tens of millions of dollars?
Biden: He wasn’t given tens of millions of dollars. [crosstalk] It was all discredited.
Wallace: We’ve already been through this. I think the American people would rather hear about more substantial subjects. Well, as the moderator, sir, I’m going to make a judgment call here.
Trump: I know, but when somebody gets three and a half million dollars from the mayor of Moscow.
Biden: That is not true. That report is totally discredited.
Trump: Why did he get it?
Biden: Mitt Romney on that committee said it wasn’t worth taxpayers’ money. That report was written for political reasons.
Wallace: I’d like to talk about climate change.
Biden: So would I.
That’s been discredited.
(It was actually 3.6 million.)
"That's been discredited"
ie., it was cash, not credit.
Better.
and it wasn't the mayor of Moscow, it was his wife, years after he was the mayor
Hunter Biden was a founding partner in an investment capital firm that took a stake in that Ukraine gas company so he naturally was put on their Board of Directors as an expert in corporate governance (his degree and specialty).
You wingnuts can't make a scandal out of it and you are desperate because the Dotard is getting his ass kicked.
So, that his dad was VP of the US was just a coincidence?
If Hunter Biden's firm had invested in a Swedish company Trump would have tried to bribe the Swedish PM into bringing charges against the Bidens.
Crackheads are well known for their fiduciary responsibility.
Their firm only seemed to get money where Joe was a primary player for Obama on. Russia happened just before the Crimean invasion, China happened as Biden was opening trade negotiations, Ukraine while Biden was point on funds going there.
Yet you bring up sweden. Odd.
What, no response, asshole?
If Hunter had invested in a Swedish firm the business would have remained open and he wouldn't have needed $3.5M in PPP from Ukraine to continue on during the Pandemic.
...Board of Directors as an expert in corporate governance...
Not old enough to have enough relevant experience to be hired by a legitimate board.
Fail.
A firm less than a year old with virtually no market experience but touted the sons of Biden and Kerry. Totally done on the merits of the new company.
"investment capital firm that took a stake in that Ukraine gas"
Citation please?
That investment firm was also deemed systemicly necessary and got tarp money, even though it didn't meet the requirements
Pence is now "the GOP's one line of defense between a hospitalized commander-in-chief and a President Nancy Pelosi
Well I certainly don't want Trump to go Herman "Flava" Cain on us because I am looking forward to his resounding defeat in November.
Biden is +5 in Florida. Whoever wins FL wins the election.
Keep the faith in polls.
Trump is already "hospitalized" and he's still the President.
ENB needs to idiot harder.
I'm figuring every state within 5 points as a Trump win.
Please record and post your reaction when President Trump wins reelection. Censor it a bit if it is too graphic.
So the dueling polls out there are very interesting. The NBC/WSJ poll has Biden ahead by 14 (!!!!) points. Meanwhile the Sunday Express poll has Trump in the lead. The difference, of course, is in how many Democrats are sampled. The former sampled 8% more Dems than Republicans (An increase of 5 points over their previous poll).
This is clearly wrong. Trump may or may not be losing, but it isn't by 14 points. I am trying to understand what the incentive is for these polls to get things so clearly wrong.
I know that the media is biased, but polling firms are specifically hired to be accurate. The election season is the Super Bowl of pollsters, where they are getting millions of dollars in advertising. Why would they get things so spectacularly wrong?
The only thing I can think is that they no longer care about getting organic business. They are getting enough money from private polls for campaigns or from the government that they don't need to advertise externally. Or maybe they have decided that the country is so politicized that they just need to play to one market, and those people will hire them regardless of their accuracy?
Polling is a fairly outdated concept for influencing voting.
Because published polls aren't paid to get things right, they are paid to get the results that the person publishing wants them to get. If the poll is for internal use, the motivation for accuracy is much higher, though it still has pressure to get the answer the boss wants to see.
"Because published polls aren’t paid to get things right, they are paid to get the results that the person publishing wants them to get"
No, for presidential polls, it is vitally important for them to get things as correct as possible. Because it drives their business for the next 2-4 years.
"Or maybe they have decided that the country is so politicized that they just need to play to one market, and those people will hire them regardless of their accuracy?"
Bingo! In our post-truth, post-intelligence world, people not only don't desire accuracy, they get violently indignant when reality contradicts the fantasy they commit to. For example, see November 2016.
"I am trying to understand what the incentive is for these polls to get things so clearly wrong."
Goes hand in hand with their voter registration press.
They're all in on massive vote fraud.
It's how they plan to seize power.
Which polling firms lost money after 2016?
I think the polls, biased or otherwise, tend to show how people feel at any one point in time, and I think that dumpster fire of a debate may have hurt Trump more than it did Biden--regardless of whether it should have done so.
There may be plenty of people tuning in for the next debate hoping to see a dumpster fire, but those who were nauseated by the whole thing enough to stay away are probably more likely to be swing voters.
Despite what I want to believe, I don't see anything that happened through the last debate and now that would make Trump's numbers improve among undecided voters. I'm not really interested in the national polls. I want to see how he's doing in Michigan and Pennsylvania. If there's any silver lining to what I'm seeing, it's that his numbers there don't seem to have budged.
Trump helped bring back Big 10 football. He's doing great in Pennsylvania and Michigan and Ohio.
Democrats love to tell themselves what they want to hear, reality be damned. It's evident in all their policy. Telling them anything they don't want to hear is racist.
Is it any surprise that pollsters have this figured out and have started telling them exactly what they want to hear? Wrongthink ends the gravy train.
I assume that NBC/WSJ enjoys having Trump in office. It gives them someone to outrage against and a constant stream of calamities to report on. Presumably they think this drives ad revenue their way. So it makes sense they would want to suppress the lazy Democrat vote by making it look like Biden has this one in the bag. They get extra credit for reporting what everyone "knows" is true.
I heard this morning that Hillary was ahead by 14 on this exact date.
While President Trump is out giving everyone a case of Covid19, the President's mentor Putin will not let anyone near him. You have to quarantine for days just to get an audience with Putin. Maybe Trump would be more cautious if Putin explained the dangers of the virus.
So trump should be more like Putin? Really?
Don't you find it is interesting that aspires to Putin's authoritarian ways, but does the opposite on taking health precautions.
Yes, Trump is the one banning candy bars in the checkout lanes.
aspires to Putin’s authoritarian ways
I know you're trolling, but let's unpack your statement here.
First I want you to list the ways that Trump is genuinely authoritarian, and not just the presidency in general, but Trump himself.
And because I don't want some bullshit accusations, I want examples that actually occurred.
It's downright impressive how many "tyrant" temptations he has resisted.
"And because I don’t want some bullshit accusations, I want examples that actually occurred."
Especially since so far, m4e's only comparison between Trump and Putin actually shows Trump acting UNLIKE Putin.
He was wearing a mask. I'm told they work.
Don’t you find it is interesting that aspires to Putin’s authoritarian ways, but does the opposite on taking health precautions.
If something doesn't make sense, check your premises.

Las Vegas Tops U.S. in Rise of Apartment Tenants Not Paying Rent
HAHA. Look at all the Lefty run cities where people are not paying rent.
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
New Orleans
Portland
Seattle
San Jose
New York
Nashville
Irvine
Chicago
Lost the rent money at the tables. Again.
That's because of the local economy.
Hardly anybody wants to sit in a plane for hours and then sit in a casino for hours during a pandemic--especially older people.
I wouldn't be surprised if there has been an exponential increase in people playing casino games online since April.
Come on. Rent is a white, patriarchal, slave-owner construct.
Most of that is lockdown related.
Show me a state where unemployment is really high, and I'll show you a state where either a) the state's economy is largely dependent on tourism (Hawaii, Nevada) or b) it was a state where the lockdowns came early, were harsh, and lasted a long time.
https://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm
Irvine is not a lefty-run city.
The lockdowns that were inflicted on them by the state were lefty in origin, however.

Yeah, well the doctors aren't scientists like the media commentators are.
Bullets? No problem.

Be fair. The media wants to ban bullets, too.

I'm more like 20-1 and the Republicans still have a larger minority seat count in the House than Democrats did as their last minority seat count.
That Trump would beat Hillary.

Chicago violence: 3 dead, 34 shot in weekend
Chicago recorded its deadliest September in over 25 years, WTTV.com reported. Authorities reported 81 homicides last month, the report said.
Democrat run city.
With strict gun lawz.
I saw an amazing stat today on Twitter. It was in a pie graph so it was easy to ingest.
Of all 2018 murders of Black Americans, causes:
91% other blacks "citizens"
9% non blacks "citizens"
0.08% Police.
Restated for perspective:
per 1001 murders:
910 by blacks
90 by non-blacks
1 by police.
What do the count it as for a black cop?
So, black lives matter, but only some black deaths are useful.

...Imagine the sound of a passive-aggressive email from HR plinking into your inbox, forever: that is the sound of ideology taking the helm of the state....
How we bend the knee to our HR overlords
Our managerial class is asserting itself, drunk with its own power
https://unherd.com/2020/09/why-woke-is-the-ruling-ideology/
What does this all do to speed along policing reform, ask bewildered African-Americans, as they observe global corporations and white celebrities compete to beat their chests in ever-more elaborate and meaningless gestures of atonement? What kind of meaningful anti-systemic revolution can provoke such immediate and fulsome support from the Hollywood entertainment complex, from the richest oligarchs and plutocrats on earth, and from the media organs of the liberal state?
...Like the wave of statue-toppling earlier this summer, which immediately subsumed itself into the endless bureaucracy of commissions and panels, overseen by the quangos and opaquely-funded NGOs which actually run this country, we realise that true power in Britain rests neither in the streets nor at the ballot box, but in the hands of the professional managerial class. The spread of the successor ideology is not, despite the urban violence which occasionally attends its spread, a revolutionary moment, but the very opposite, a counterrevolution of HR managers, the means by which managerial liberalism reasserts its authority over the organs of the state.
The sheer zeal with which middle managers and HR executives, as well as the students rioting in the streets aspiring to join their numbers, have latched onto the successor ideology reveals their grasp of the potential power it affords them. Like Althusser’s ISAs, the apparatuses of the new ideology are the education system, the mass media and the culture industry: go to university, read the newspaper, listen to Radio 4: there is no escape from the ideology of the administrative class.
"Homeland Security is proposing a rule to "hold immigrant sponsors accountable for failing to meet the obligations of contracts they sign with the federal government."
Sponsoring an illegal immigrant to get them out of holding while they're waiting (sometimes years) to see an immigration judge requires the sponsor to sign off on a promise that if the immigrant in question ends up on federal assistance, the sponsor will reimburse the taxpayers for the cost. That rule has been on the books since long before President Trump was elected. It just wasn't enforced until recently. It is entirely reasonable for the government to verify that the sponsor has the means necessary to care for the immigrant before releasing them to wait for their hearing on the basis of that promise.
We're talking about people who are contesting deportation defensively. They were picked up by the INS crossing the border illegally or they turned themselves in. The problem with all those asylum seekers was that they were arriving with the full intent of calling their aunt or uncle to sponsor them before they left. It's basically moral hazard.
The uncle or aunt knew that no sponsor had ever been forced to pay up when the person or family they sponsored went on the dole. A lot of them are so poor that even now that the feds come to collect for the costs of rent assistance, extra food benefits, Medicaid, etc., the government has no hope of recovering that money. Or in other words, the sponsor never had the means to fulfill his or her promise when the promise to keep the them off of public assistance was made.
People who purposely get themselves arrested by the INS so that they can go on the dole get very little sympathy from this taxpayer. And as a libertarian capitalist, I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't defend such disgraceful behavior in the name of libertarian capitalism. I've seen the UK deport tourists who didn't seem to have the means to support themselves while they were in the UK, and if you sat down and tried to think up a great new way to make average Americans oppose asylum seekers and immigration, you could hardly come up with anything better than associating asylum seeking and immigration with eligibility for public assistance.
P.S. I oppose giving public assistance to American citizens, too. Get a job. Be good to your family in case you need help. If you can't afford children, don't have them. There need to be negative consequences for bad behavior, and hunger is nature's way of telling us not to procreate.
Yeah, this seems a fairly straightforward and above board requirement.
For asylum seekers, especially, they don't just release them without the means to support themselves.
Again, these are people who were arrested while crossing the border illegally or turned themselves in on U.S. soil for being in the country illegally. They then contest deportation by asking for asylum, and it can take years to get a court date.
They don't want to keep them in holding facilities permanently, so the federal government arranges to find them suitable jobs with various employers who sign up certain programs. A lot of meat processing plants, rendering plants, etc. participate, and they give the asylum seeker a job, an apartment, and make sure they're okay until their court date. Nit a bad deal, especially when you consider that the asylum seeker in question is contesting deportation, not on the basis that they're here legally but on the basis that if they're sent back, they'll be persecuted.
If you have family that will sign a promise to keep you off of public assistance, they'll release you to that family under those circumstances--and you don't have to take that job and you don't have to wait in holding until a job becomes available. You get released immediately.
And there should be negative consequences for sponsors who sign off on those promises with no intention of honoring them and get their relatives on the dole almost as soon as they arrive. The taxpayers bear the cost of that, but the worst victims are probably legitimate refugees who really are fleeing persecution and suffer through a clogged system that's overrun by fraudulent asylum seekers who are simply playing the system because of the moral hazard we built onto the system.
Last time I checked, some 95% of the asylum seekers from the golden triangle countries were either denied asylum at their hearing or never showed up for their hearing. How'd you like to be a refugee fleeing legitimate persecution and stuck in a holding cell because 95% of the people around you were abusing the system? If they don't shut down the moral hazard aspect for the benefit of the taxpayers, do it for the poor legitimately persecuted asylum seekers who are the worst victims of this.
To be fair to many of the asylum seekers, most do not even know that they are seeking asylum.
The dirty little secret is that most of these people are told they can come here for work. They get here and a Notary Public tells them to sign some papers, and they can get a work permit. In Mexico and some other south american countries, Notarios are actually lawyers who can actually represent you in legal proceedings. These illegals don't understand what they are signing. All they know is that they go to the US, and a Notario takes their money, and they get a work permit. Then 2 years later they have a court date, and they don't know why. At that point, they go before the judge who denies their asylum request, and these people who thought they were building a new life get sent back to their country of origin.
At the end of the day, them's the breaks if you cannot speak the language. But I just want to point out that the moral hazard is not really that straight forward. These people aren't even being that complex. A bunch of conmen have figured out how to sell temporary work permits to illegals, who are actually trying to go through legal means (instead of staying completely below the radar) and are punished for it.
80% of the people who were coming at the height of the asylum seeker crisis were either children traveling alone or families traveling together.
The kids that were traveling alone were mostly send to the United States to live with family members who came here before them and established residency.
They were sending those kids here to take advantage of the system--as well as because Obama promised not to deport people who came here as children through an executive order.
“It is entirely reasonable.......”
Haha. Yeah, “entirety reasonable” seems to be a point of contention with people addicted to virtue signaling.

Figuring out the flu
By ARTHUR ALLEN
MAY 11, 200912 AM
https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2009-may-11-oe-allen11-story.html
By late September, the so-called Hong Kong flu had stricken Marines returning from Vietnam. By mid-December, the flu was knocking thousands of Americans off their feet. The 1968 pandemic claimed the lives of actress Tallulah Bankhead and master spy Allen Dulles, and President Lyndon Johnson spent one of his last, lonely White House weeks in bed with the flu.
...Flu viruses that have undergone this shift often spread quickly, but they aren’t necessarily any more deadly than seasonal strains. So it was with the 1968 virus. Only a careful reader of the New York Times would have noticed the flu pandemic. Stories about it tended to land on Page 65 and go on for all of three paragraphs. The flu season of 1951 -- not a pandemic year -- was, in fact, more lethal in many parts of the world.
How we categorize what happens around us can profoundly affect our perceptions of risk. In 1968, Americans had not been exposed to a steady stream of disturbing news about a bird flu virus in Asia. Pandemic was not a household word associated with terror and globalism, the way it is now. Although many noticed that 1968 was a bad flu year, most of us lacked a doom-laden category in which to place that information. We went about our business, free of excessive virus fright. We’ve all heard, now, about how fearsome pandemics can be, and thanks to the remarkable advances of molecular biology and computing, we have an easier time identifying them. But it turns out that putting a name to something is not only a way of taming it. It can also be a way of spreading needless fear.
Just as significant: in 1968 we had a population not yet conditioned to be constantly afraid of all risk and challenge. Nobody got participation trophies. And university students still expected to be challenged by professors, who still felt an obligation to fail those who were not qualified. Nobody went on playdates because parents feared kidnappers.
Nobody went on playdates because parents feared kidnappers.
Millie Bobby Brown mentioned during a Stranger Things press conference about how jealous she was of how much freedom that kids in the 80s had to just take off and go do shit without being hovered over all the time.
Her view is probably a bit distorted from being a child star and having handlers around her constantly, but there is a larger point here about how keeping an entire generation and a half under surveillance has led to a low-grade form of hyper-risk aversion. We're already seeing the effects of that with people like AOC wanting to micromanage the lives of every person in the country.
Americans have gotten WAY too soft, and if the country does break down, it will largely be because of an increasing trend of arrested emotional development that breaks down at the slightest hint of adversity.
One of the best analyses I read is the Coddling of the American Mind, by Lukianoff and Haidt. The book is of course much more complete than their Atlantic essay. They document some very disturbing and worrying cultural change.
Back in the 90’s I was working in the FSU and was staying in an apartment in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The apartment balcony overlooked a playground, one day I was sitting out there and saw some kids playing in the playground. Something seemed weird until I realized it was the absence of adults hovering over the children. There were 5 to 10 year olds just playing by themselves with no supervision, and this was on old soviet swings, seesaws etc. bolted into a concrete pad. Try to imagine that happening here, how long before someone called the police and CPS. I do remember that as a child, walking blocks by myself or with my siblings to a city park totally unsupervised, the only issue was I was not allowed to swim without parental supervision in the city pool until I was 10.
Americans under the age of 70 had a higher mortality rate from the 1968 Hong Kong flu than from the China virus.
The two reasons why the overall US death rate is higher from this year's China virus than from the 1968 Hong Kong flu are because there were far few people above the age of 70 in 1968 (than now) and because adult obesity rates have skyrocketed since 1968 (to 42% in 2019).
Anybody who votes for Biden because Trump contracted COVID-19 is an idiot.

From May through August, Fresh Approach delivered 50,000 boxes total and paid $1.5 million to local farmers, prioritizing farmers of color and organic farmers..."

Nope.
They're criticizing it because orangeman bad!
ENB is just sad because the secret service hookers might get sick.
Maybe secret service hooker is a common fantasy.
If there's a COVID-19 related response to President Trump contracting the virus, it's probably Cam Newton contracting the virus--not that ENB would know Cam Newton from a Fig Newton.
If Cam Newton can't avoid contracting the virus despite the motivation of putting his whole comeback at risk, then what is any public figure with a job like President Trump supposed to do--stop running the country?
That and the rush to condemn Trump because he's an anti-masker and got COVID and put everyone at risk through his own stupidity.
Whereas Cam Newton is a saint, he did nothing wrong and it's just pure bad luck that he got COVID.
I maintain that the anti-masker stuff is mostly related to the left's arguments that Trump should have had a national policy on lockdowns. Even among Americans who are wearing masks, most are wearing them selectively. Even in the football stadiums over the weekend, the policies were mostly about either staying six feet away from other people or wearing a mask. I see it as much like the infection rate in states that didn't have mandatory state wide lockdowns or where they weren't as harsh or didn't last as long. Those states have an infection rate that isn't significantly higher than the states that had huge mandatory and harsh statewide lockdowns.
Surely, no one of any significant intelligence thinks that wearing a mask means the disease won't spread anyway.
Police wear bulletproof vests even though they do not protect them from being shot in the head. Masks do not prevent all transmission but they do help a lot.
Without any national policy, Trump still could have saved many lives by telling the truth, consistently wearing masks, modeling social distancing and encouraging followers to do the same.
Obviously not, since Cam Newton got the Covid, and wearing a mask completely protects you from getting the Covid. Therefore, Cam Newton is an evildoer and Gaia is punishing him for his sinful ways with coronavirus.
if the world just had a bad cold/flu season instead of freaking out, Cam likely wouldn't have tested positive for anything because he wouldn't have been tested for anything ... and whether he exhibited cold symptoms or not there would have been a game yesterday
I'll buy that.
Not only that, Cam would be playing in that game and all his teammates would've expected him to.
Minor flu symptoms do not keep professional athletes out of their games. Michael Jordan famously had the "flu game" in the 1997 NBA Finals and he was actually pretty sick. People in 2020 would assume he was on death's door, not about to drop 38 points.
exactly. the first one I remember was Pete Vukovich pitching w/the flu in the 1982 playoffs against the Angels ... it looked like he had hurl on his jersey
and Cam would have played, and if he helped win the game, would be hailed as a hero for bravely playing while enduring flu-like symptoms (see Michael Jordan's flu game)
>> which many have been criticizing for putting the car's driver and secret service agents at risk.
you're like Katie Couric except here ... "some say"
also I thought they canceled Blacklist
Any one else wonder what the media would have said about Trump if he had hid in the cellar like Biden. Biden had already called for him to leave his bunker earlier which was weird considering Biden was the one hiding.
Do you have a link to what Biden said?
Suspected by whom? The little mouse you just pulled out of your infected gash?
Wait, what??! OUTSIDE!!!
Going to need notarized proof of the contract tracing and the source code for the analysis.
The Rose Garden event was nothing compared to the maskless indoor after party. The pictures include Mike Lee (positive for COVID) face-to-face with the nominee, less than two feet distance; Thom Tillis (positive for COVID) sitting elbow-to-elbow next to the nominee's son, yucking it up. Many others. I understand that it's hard to leave a cult.
I'm praying Ronna McDaniel and Mike Lee die. 2 Mormon politicians dying is like 20 regular mormons dying. Fuck mormons and the people who defend them on here.
