Mitchell Ballas has been suspended from Montana's Big Sky High School for wearing a sweatshirt with a Confederate flag after being told not to. Principal Natalie Jaeger says some students have complained that the Confederate flag makes them feel anxious and afraid.

I seem to remember watching The Dukes of Hazzard on TV as a kid and their Pontiac GTO's entire roof was painted like a confederate flag. If anyone was scared, I never heard about it.

Between that, the show's constant satirizing of the police, and Daisy Duke's notable lack of clothing, I doubt that show would even be green-lighted today.

A little editing would fix it right up. The police would be the good guys, constantly under pressure to reign in the red-necks but often helpless in the face of Judge Duke's rulings ? Daisy would either be a victim (heroic outsider come to educate the benighted, little knowing what she'd be up against) or the tantalizing tease the boys need to be cautious around because she's Judge Duke's side-fling.

This seems like the right call to me. I'm sure most here would agree a shirt with a swastika on it would be inappropriate. Similarly, the Confederate flag is also a symbol of hate meant to intimidate and dehumanize certain marginalized groups.
