Salvadoran Immigrants Lose Protections, Bundy Case Thrown Out over Federal Misconduct, Supreme Court Reopens Death Penalty Case: P.M. Links
-
David Becker/ZUMA Press/Newscom The Trump administration is ending the protected status of an estimated 200,000 immigrants from El Salvador. The termination comes with an 18-month delay for those affected to try to figure out ways to remain in the country legally after the protection ends.
- A federal judge threw out the cases against members of the Bundy family with prejudice due to "flagrant misconduct" by prosecutors and the FBI in not disclosing evidence. This was the conspiracy case connected to the Bundy's ranch in Nevada, not the take-over of the federal property in Oregon. The judge had ordered a mistrial in December after discovering the evidence had been withheld.
- The Supreme Court ordered a death penalty case to be reopened in the wake of racist comments by one of the jurors who had wondered if black people had souls.
- The Supreme Court also declined to consider a lawsuit to block a Mississippi law that protects people from discrimination claims (and from being discriminated against) for having religious opposition to same-sex marriage, pre-marital sex, or recognizing transgender folks. Of note: This doesn't mean the court is okay with Mississippi choosing which religious beliefs get state protection, but rather the people suing haven't proven any harms, and their case has been rejected due to lack of standing.
- The cost of damages caused by natural disasters in the United States set a new record for 2017.
- More than $175,000 has been raised to support one of the woman who accused Roy Moore of sexual harassment after her house burned down. The fire is under investigation as arson, but officials aren't linking it to her claims against Moore.
- "James Damore just filed a class-action lawsuit against Google, saying it discriminates against white male conservatives."

That's not evil!
Thus revealing himself to be the alt-right poster boy we knew he was all along.

FBI losers
They're losing so much that they're tired of it.
A federal judge threw out the cases against members of the Bundy family with prejudice due to "flagrant misconduct" by prosecutors and the FBI in not disclosing evidence.
It's almost like people are souring on government overreach and prosecutorial misconduct.
The Supreme Court ordered a death penalty case to be reopened in the wake of racist comments by one of the jurors who had wondered if black people had souls.
There are no atheists in foxholes or deliberation rooms.
Gingers are the ones without souls.
No, it's clones.
So does that include identical twins, or do they get an out because they were born "naturally"?
More than $175,000 has been raised to support one of the woman who accused Roy Moore of sexual harassment after her house burned down.
Better than an insurance fire, I guess.
one of the jurors who had wondered if black people had souls.
Brother, they got nothin' but.
Comin' to ya on a dusty road
Good lovin' I got a truck load
And when you get it you got something
So don't worry cause I'm coming

The judge had ordered a mistrial in December after discovering the evidence had been withheld.
I'm detecting a pattern.
The fire is under investigation as arson, but officials aren't linking it to her claims against Moore.
This will change when numerous eyewitnesses come forward claiming they saw a mysterious man on horseback in the vicinity.
Several eye witnesses did see a mysterious man, but it was a guy from the area who had a history of getting drunk and then causing trouble.
"SUCK MAH BAWLS," he reportedly told reporters, before passing out underneath his neighbor's porch and soiling himself.
So THAT'S where I ended up during my last blackout bender.
Tonto was not available for comment.
The cost of damages caused by natural disasters in the United States set a new record for 2017.
What was the previous record for 2017?
A federal judge threw out the cases against members of the Bundy family with prejudice due to "flagrant misconduct" by prosecutors and the FBI in not disclosing evidence.
The FBI and most federal prosecutors are gonna need a new m.o., stat.
War on drugs is failing. Shooting black guys in the back is getting police convicted. Protesters with guns are not being convicted.
Sex trafficking...now there's a new threat to national security.
...the people suing haven't proven any harms, and their case has been rejected due to lack of standing.
The Supremes have a deeply held religious belief in copping out whenever possible.
It Took Only Three Days For Germany's New Hate Speech Law To Cause Collateral Damage
The original Reuters report of the incident:
adding that Chancellor Angela Merkel and Justice Minister Heiko Maas had promised that the new law would not have this kind of effect.
"When i said i'd kill you last... i lied."
Berlin to evaluate online hate law as minister falls victim
I don't think they'll need six months.
Add in the time they'll need to get their recommendations approved for public viewing by the censory board, and they'll be lucky to get away with six years.
"I know no method to secure the repeal of bad or obnoxious laws so effective as their stringent execution."

The president is soft on immigration.
Haaretz link.
.
Ah, look at Sarah Silverman, typical trendy bougie Jewish prog nowadays, casually wandering into shit like this when they momentarily remember who they're in bed with, somewhat ill at ease with their adopted social community but without the self-respect to actually stand up to them.
Last-minute addendum: Oh FUUUUUUCK YOU, SARAH SILVERMAN
Even laster-minute addendum: Still would tho
Still would tho
It took you a while but you finally exhibited some good sense.
That was actually cut-pasted and saved out of an abortive attempt to post it to today's AM links, when I mentioned a Haaretz article by a Jewish cuck lecturing the Israelis for barring racist Quakers from their country. Haaretz suggested this link and I wanted to share. Looks a bit odd out of context, I now see.
James Damore just filed a class-action lawsuit against Google, saying it discriminates against white male conservatives."
And who just said that conservatives couldn't be "snowflakes"? I think it was Rufus the Retarded in yesterday's thread on some GOP asshole who wanted a law forbidding NFL protests so his feelings wouldn't be hurt.
Does anybody else picture Tron Guy when reading shreek's comments?
Conservatives are not smart enough to code well. This is a known fact.
Woz, Brin, Page, Mark Z, - they all know that.
I'm not saying anything about conservatives, you maniac. I'm saying that's what i think you look like.
Of all the coders in all the world, PB can only name 4.
In his defense, he may have been pitching his remarks to a general audience, being sure to mention only household names. Though I think Wozniak is mostly famous for his hardware design--though obviously he certainly can code and I think developed the original Apple OS back when there wouldn't have been much in the division of labor.
Yeah, he wrote the kernel. His code might be there for all I know.
No, I would never sully something as pure as Tron Guy.
Rufus the Retard has a nice ring to it.
Shrike likes name calling with things that end in -tard or tarded. Project much, Shrike?
What a tardfag!

I was referring to the refund bit.
The law bit is stupid.
Like you.
Your feelings are hurt everyday you realize your mom would've aborted you if she had the chance. I bet looking back she would've used a coat hanger.
If my feelings got hurt I wouldn't be posting here on H&R, you imbecile.
I enjoy insulting you conservatives.
Progs suck too but other than Tony none inhabit this place.
You feel it...you embrace the hate. It's like mom trying to smother you with the pillow again, you feel loved only when despised and pitied.
Wait, I thought you were Tony.
.
Now I'm confused. Y'all some inscrutable motherfuckers.
He's not Tony, he's Daijal and a few others.
No. I was "shrike" until I lost the email account attached to it.
No one else.
Shreek too.
Admitted sock puppet.
"No. I was "shrike" until I lost the email account attached to it."
He both lost the email account, and forgot his password to Reason.
Let that sink in.
Butt thinks ranting about schizophrenic socialist designs insults us Libertarians.
He doesn't even understand that thanks to him any new Reasonites get to see good Libertarian arguments to his lefty nonsense.
Would you Tulpas shut the fuck up?
I'm trying to move up to the next level of drug fueled outrage here. I need to concentrate and you clowns aren't making it any easier.
Maybe I was wrong about Milo Yiannopoulos. I may have underestimated how smart and capable he is:
Milo Yiannopoulos Will Now Represent Himself In His Lawsuit Against Simon & Schuster
I have won multiple lawsuit pro se. I do have a legal background but its not impossible if you have a claim.
On that note, a jury might not like the way HE prosecutes his lawsuit and show it in the verdict.
Let's hope this doesn't end up like that Robin Thicke case where he was so unlikeably it led to negative precedent being created for Copywrite law.
Good for Damore.
I'm sure this is driving the left nuts.
Well, yeah. He got fired by one of the very few evil multinationals that proggies love. The company is culturally progressive in ways that ver very few companies can match. The last stage of their infamous hiring process is to have the candidate hang out with employees to see if the candidate fits in with the culture. If doesn't, he doesn't get hired. In short, you act like a smug progressive or you don't get hired. But Google can't come out and say they're firing him because he's not an ideological progressive. That would break all sort of federal employment regulations. So it claims that he openly defied company policy. When he merely posted to an internal bulletin board.
It's telling truth to the progressive cultural power. Can't have dissenting voices, so when the dissenting voice fights back the left goes nuts. It's not just allowed.
I think the guy was wrong in what he said, but Google was in the bigger wrong by firing him. I keep my political voice quiet at work, lest my own employer fire me without cause. The precedence has been set, you either agree with the dominant political culture at your workplace you can be fired. It's a huge step backward.
If doesn't, he doesn't get hired. In short, you act like a smug progressive or you don't get hired.
It's not quite so dramatic. I had an offer from Google, and the social part mostly consisted of eating lunch and talking about retro video game emulation. It is a thing, but it's not necessarily political.
retro video game emulation. It is a thing, but it's not necessarily political.
A male-dominated industry.
It was incredibly male.
What sort are those? I never heard of anything like that.
That's because there aren't any at the federal level. California bans employment discrimination based on political activities/affiliation, but there are no federal-level protections related to politics.
That said, the guy wasn't fired because he's conservative, he was fired because he made Google look bad in the news cycle. Which is a totally permissible reason to fire someone in any state.
Though it's a dangerous game to actively solicit advice and opinions internally, then fire someone for their response. They are allowed to do that. But that's a pretty horrible policy.
It's also a dangerous game to argue that Free Market forces mean you don't need employee rights, and then complain whenever Free Market forces get someone fired and encourage them to sue under the not-needed employee rights. Might convince people that you don't actually care about the "how" and you're just interested in the "what".
Google can fire whoever they want for whatever reason they want. That doesn't absolve them of being a bunch of hypocritical assholes however.
And I believe that they should have the right to fire him. But attention can be brought to him to bring open pressure to the companies practices.
One thing that goes too frequently undiscussed is the role of positive change with purely social force.
It only made Google look bad in the news cycle because someone at Google took his message and put it in the news cycle.
When he merely posted to an internal bulletin board.
After comments about Google's policies had been solicited by the company.
How and why was he wrong? It didn't seem all that off to me.
For it to be a "huge step backward", there needs to be a point where we "further along".
Losing a lawsuit to own the libs.
I'd give my left nut to drive the left nuts.
Typical racism engendered by poor science literacy. They actually possess a natural surfeit, which they must regularly shed in the form of food and music.

I predict Shikha will have a piece for this outrage post-haste!
When you follow Reason's link to the CNN article and read it, you find that their status is a Temporary Protective Status that requires renewal every 2 years and that many of the immigrants were here for over a decade. This is why we need to get immigrants on a track towards citizenship instead of expecting presidents to keep kicking the can down the road by renewing temporary orders.
In related news, CNN reported a few years ago how Mexicans mistreat Central American immigrants. The article says: Authorities found the bodies of 72 slain immigrants from Central and South America on an abandoned ranch near the Mexico-U.S. border in August 2010. That year, more than 11,000 immigrants were kidnapped nationwide, according to an investigation by Mexico's National Commission for Human Rights.
Earlier today, Old Mexican's Speedos said the 730,000 Americans living in Mexico represent about 89% of all foreign permanent residents in Mexico. That means Mexico has about 90,000 foreign permanent residents who are not from the USA. So .. if 11,000 Central American immigrants get kidnapped in Mexico each year, the odds of a Central American getting kidnapped in Mexico might be greater than the odds of him gaining permanent resident status.
Why is it a good argument against freedom of religion protections that the government is choosing which religious beliefs are worthy of protection but not a good argument against anti-discrimination laws that the government is choosing which demographic groups are worthy of protection?
White-Genocide Williamson strikes again.
Holy shit what a cuckservative.
They insist that San Francisco is Hell on Earth but never ask why it is that so many people want to live there ? or they just write off those who do as degenerates and hopelessly un-American.
I prefer to ask San Franciscans why they don't want to live there.
The Niners, right?
Jesus, even Vice doesn't like San Francisco.
Too Many Stores Are Cash Only
There are harsh realities about why stores do that. Maybe some say they are doing it to spite the banks, which be a retarded reason if you still took cash. My guess is that many more have serious issue with the fee structure that keeps increasing for card usage.
Also, I think the article was snidely calling people who make 80,000$ a year hyper wealthy. Which if so, is kind of sad.
Actually, that whole article reeked of bitching about how they can't afford it rather than anything about the city. One last "Fuck you, I didn't want to live here anyway!"
Of course, Salon thinks it's because SF is so right wing.
Of course, they may be right, but not for the reasons they think.
I like establishing your mental clarity and clearing away the illusions by holding up Billy Graham, the man who advised Nixon to undertake a Vietnamese bombing campaign, as a symbol of moral rectitude.
In fairness, he's writing for a conservative, not libertarian, audience, and most conservatives don't object to the Vietnam War.
yimbys advocating density that is changing the city for the worse
I've never heard anyone accuse SF of being TOO open to new development.
Frankly, the city stinks of shit and urine. I've been in L.A., Boston, New York, and D.C., but none of them smell as back as San Fransisco. Because San Fransisco not only tolerates its dysfunctional residents, it celebrates them. Jeepers H Cripes you can't even hose the shit off the sidewalks there without the City Council wagging their finger at you.
"In my experience I have observed that there are two types of black people. 1. Black folks and 2. Niggers."
+1 Chris Rock
As usual, Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch are fine with show trials as long as they follow the proper show trial procedure.
Remember when Obama abruptly abolished our Cuban refugee policy after the election, stranding thousands of families in Mexico and Central America? Cubans also happen to be the group of Latinos that didn't overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
Remember when everybody was mad about that? No? Because, like with the 3 million people Obama deported, nobody cared about this shit until a Republican was in office again.
The cost of damages caused by natural disasters in the United States set a new record for 2017.
I'm going to blame inflation...
Just kidding. Mostly.
At that cost, it's sort of amazing that so few people died.
I hope John is doing okay.
