If You Think Campus Free Speech Is No Big Deal, Watch This Shocking Vice News Report From Evergreen State College
Michael Moynihan finds students scared to express "nuanced" ideas, a progressive professor demonized as a racist, protesters mocking "free speech," and a college president who cannot rule out that he might be a white supremacist.

Are you one of those people who suspects that all the brouhaha over campus free speech outrages, no matter how individually insane the stories, might be exaggerated in the aggregate when it comes to prevalence and effect? It's OK—I am one of those people, despite writing about the subject on occasion and reading all the fine work done at Reason by Robby Soave and other colleagues.
Or I should say, I was one of those people, before watching Thursday's Vice News segment from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where (as Ben Haller has written here previously) things have gone pear-shaped ever since a lone white professor refused to stay home during an activist "Day of Absence" for those with pallid skin pigment. Vice News correspondent (and former Reasoner/current Fifth Columnist) Michael Moynihan visited the embattled campus to query the antagonists in the controversy, and the results are stunning, infuriating, bananas. I have often wondered what it would be like to capture people in the midst of an ideological re-education exercise; now I wonder no more:
As timing would have it, this piece came out concurrently with a big Commentary symposium (to which I contributed) on whether free speech is under threat in the United States. My bottom line: "But in this very strength [of recent Supreme Court protections] lies what might be the First Amendment's most worrying vulnerability. Barry Friedman, in his 2009 book The Will of the People, made the persuasive argument that the Supreme Court typically ratifies, post facto, where public opinion has already shifted. Today's culture of free speech could be tomorrow's legal framework. If so, we're in trouble."
And just yesterday, Nick Gillespie pushed back on "5 Clichés Used to Attack Free Speech":

What the heck is wrong with George Bridges?
What a gutless, clueless cuck.
He let himself be a hostage to those idiots?
lol.
In listening to Bridges it's no wonder he mishandled things.
Here's a SJW dink being eaten by his own and he sits there clueless looking like a fool in that interview.
As for those students, I don't think they ever read anything published before 1968. I read somewhere Evergreeen accepts 98% of applicants. They probably need to rethink this. Probably not a good idea to let anyone in.
The acceptance rate is accurate. You should look into how they actually conduct their academic affairs. Students don't receive grades, they receive a "narrative evaluation" which they themselves have input into. They course offerings are suspect as well, even in the hard sciences.
"Students don't receive grades, they receive a "narrative evaluation" which they themselves have input into."
Assuming the kids ever actually have to work for a living, it will be quite amusing the first time a supervisor tells 'em to get their ass in gear.
The supervisor will be in HR for "bullying." Happens all the time. Who do you think works in HR?
Too true, too true. IIRC, Jordan Peterson brought up that point, that HR departments everywhere are dominated by those trained in at least the policies of the SJW left ("diversity training," etc.) Things are gonna get worse before they get better.
The Left always seeks to dominate organizational power.
Not production. Power.
Hence HR, with the power to hire and fire.
These students aren't planning to work for a living once they get out. They intend to make a career of agitating for a living, and something tells me that the George Soroses of the world and going to provide for them.
SOROS !!!!!!!11!!!!!!
Nut-con pants-shitter. Take it back to the Federalist.
They should have gone to Burger U and saved some $$ because the only thing they'll be qualified for is flipping burgers with flamboyance.
Evergreen is not a typical college. It's basically a safe space for hippies. You only go there if you want to be a part of that. Basically, if you took the most radical part of Berkeley and put them in charge of their own college, that would be Evergreen. That's why I think extrapolations of the idiocy there to the larger campus climate, or to the "left" generally, should be taken with a grain of salt. Yes if you concentrate a bunch of radicals in one place you are going to get some pretty radicalized shit. It doesn't necessarily mean though that these radicals speak for any larger group than themselves.
Basically, if you took the most radical part of Berkeley and put them in charge of their own college, that would be Evergreen.
You'd also have to drop the average student IQ by about 10 points. Apparently Evergreen is one of the least-selective colleges in the nation.
Judging by Hadley's intellectual rumination that sounds about right.
Ten points? Try forty.
I agree, Berkeley is super progressive, but they do have academic standards. Compared to the people I've met from Berkeley, you better make drop that 25 points from what I saw from in those interviewees, except for the professor in the video. They had to read from scripted materials rather than actually protest in a thoughtful manner.
"Yes if you concentrate a bunch of radicals in one place you are going to get some pretty radicalized shit."
Sounds like an excellent opportunity to deploy some VX nerve gas.
What a psycho thing to say. Now we are using VX gas on people who are exercising their right to free speech in order to protect free speech? Invent a time machine and go back and join the Nazis.
Not to be a downer but VX agents were discovered in 1952, well after Hitler was captured by Stalin.
But before he was killed in the Occult Wars in '58, right?
Fuck Devastator, learn to lighten up and take a joke.
We would be using VX gas on people who are using physical violence to deny civil rights to people they oppose politically.
We don't need a time machine--the Nazis are right in front of us.
exercising their right to free speech
With baseball bats...
Hippie dippy ground zero of the hippie dippy Northwest.
Basically, if you took the most radical part of Berkeley and put them in charge of their own college, that would be Evergreen.
So they smashed windows, threw rocks, and set fires in an even more radical fashion than the most radical parts of Berkeley did?
Well, it would be nice to get all the kooks in one place so they don't infect the rest of society.
You could put a campus on a big barge.
And send it one way, with limited supplies. Into shark infested waters?
The pussy is focused so much on getting them to like him that he is incapable of showing the slightest bit of leadership.
He's like the spineless mayor in Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns'. When the mayor goes to meet with the leader of the Mutant gang in lock up. Right before the gang leader rips his throat out with his teeth. Bridges even kind if looks like him.
When I think of wussy majors, I think of this one: https://youtu.be/IKFthgUbCdY?t=1m10s
That's John Vernon. You had the choice of two mayors from the Dirty Harry series and you chose poorly.
Pretty clear to me that Evergreen is going to have far fewer applicants to consider next year. The SJWs have made any degree from that nuthouse worthless.
-jcr
This implies some value initially.
Exactly. From what I see above, this will probably increase applications from the like minded -- nobody who valued academic rigor was going there in the first place.
So this may work out for the best -- more fanatic SJW rotten eggs in one basket takes a little pressure off the schools actually trying to teach.
SJW is an apt term - they war on others, even progressives who agree they should have the freedom of speech. Did you see the guy who pepper sprayed the young woman wearing a MAGA cap?
Anyone who physically attacks someone simply for their political beliefs are truly brainwashed, sick, or defending their power from others who don't want them to have such power.
Dana Milbank blames Hodgkinson's shooting Republicans, on Trump's family. That is politically sick.
What a gutless, clueless cuck.
You, too? Great.
Et tu, Rufus?
OH SO NOW CUCK IS OFF THE TABLE NOW? NO LONGER ARE WE ALLOWED TO INCLUDE IN OUR VOCABULARY THE WORD CUCK? A WORD THAT HAS BEEN PART OF OUR NATION'S LEXICON FOR CENTURIES AND, YES, PART AND PARCEL OF OUR HERITAGE?
Rufus, if you give into these people you will be nothing short of a cuck and I will call you a CanUCKistani which is what you are anyway so whatever.
Everything they don't understand with their limited imagination is a cuck now. They should go back to Breitbart and leave intelligent debate to people who like to use their brains instead of their reptilian instincts.
They should go back to Breitbart and leave intelligent debate to people who like to use their brains instead of their reptilian instincts.
You say this like the lizard people aren't actually running the show.
That whole school should be shut down and the students black balled from attending any WA State schools.
They don't have the IQ or backbone to go through a real college curriculum. Just shut down the college and let them return to their burger flipping and vaping gatherings where they share bad makeup tips and head scarf stylings.
Just push your Congressmn to cut student loans. Anyone who has to pay for school will not waste their time and money not learning. It rich parents and student loans that allow kids to act stupid on someone else's dime.
Q: "Did you ask [the students] 'why'?"
President Bridges: "No, of course not."
Good Lord.
Isn't that kidnapping? I'd file assault and kidnapping charges against every single one of them. They were stupid to record it.
False imprisonment more likely.
I kinda feel sorry for everyone involved, but mostly for any student who is just keeping their head down and trying to get by. That professor and the administration are the ones who encouraged these ideas and rhetoric. They've paid their bills setting up a system that rewards this philosophy that these students have followed to its logical conclusion and now it's biting them in the ass.
I doubt the protesters even know better. The structure is toxic and they seem to have no idea of the errors in their critical thinking skills or reasoning. Hopefully the ones who keep their heads down transfer out, because their tuition is the economic force driving this asshattery.
From what I understand, this sort of BS is Evergreen State College's main selling point, so I'm not sure if "any student who is just keeping their head down and trying to get by" can legitimately claim to be shocked to discover that there's gambling going on here.
You forgot to link.

I briefly visited Evergreen in the late 80's with a friend who needed reference materials from their library. Goddamn that place was just full of the most disgusting looking hippie trash you can imagine. Clearly, three decades of complete idiocy have only made things worse.
Close the shithole down.
Don't close it, turn it into the hippie version of a roach motel: SJWs check in, but they don't check out.
"setting up a system that rewards this philosophy that these students have followed to its logical conclusion"
This.
Progressives are educating the red guards of tomorrow.
How is this behavior acceptable at all? Does the college not have grounds to expel students that hold the faculty hostage?
The thing about Evergreen is that it's an asylum designed to be run by the lunatics. The faculty are by and large radicals themselves, they won't take any action against the protesters due to some combination of agreeing with them and knowing that they will be next if they speak out.
The thing about Evergreen is that it's an asylum designed to be run by the lunatics.
Yes. I am more troubled - not that I actually worry about this stuff, but it does shine a light on a growing mindset within a certain segment of society - that similar protests happened at Yale, which is supposed to be a real university.
A shithile like this should be cut off from any public funding or academic accreditation.
Think about that. When you are working your ass off, some of that time is directly spend on earning money that is taken from you and goes to pay for this shit.
Literally in this case. I live in WA.
So, it's the bearded Spock version of a Stormfront compound?
Not exactly a comforting thought that it is an 'accredited' place of 'higher learning.'
No.
There are no 'Stormfront compounds'
This is a leftist shithole, just like all leftist shitholes from the time that leftism first raised it's shitty head.
Even if the school doesn't, that shit's illegal. Not sure if you actually need the victim to press charges to prosecute it, either.

Or I should say, I was one of those people, before watching Thursday's Vice News segment from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington
So you wound up changing your mind due to one example from the extreme end of this phenomenon? This is a mind-bogglingly stupid story, but it is from a college with a particular pedigree. I'd say this reveals the depth of the insanity, not the breadth of it.
Many times it's the being exposed to the depth of a problem that makes you realize how bad it can be that is the catalyst for change of opinion.
The best far by part happens at 5:55.
I think you meant 4:55 - the finger snapping cracked me up.
Oh shit, beatniks are back?
-jcr
Also, I would each and every one of those wild creatures. Each and every one of them.
The title ix investigator will have her hands full.
Hunt them like wild game?
No, make sex to them.
Give fuck on them?
Do fiesty bang with them.
Feisty and fiesty!
Crusty would engage them in a bout of fisty muffs.
I believe that fisted muffs are a specialty of this particular institution.
I think you accidentally a word.
On the one hand, these idiots are todays college leaders, like it or not, believe it or not, and that leads to the conclusion that they will be tomorrow's leaders too. I also understand the sentiment that courts just follow public opinion. The combinations is scary.
But on the other hand, remember that it is better to deal with racism by public opinion rather than laws because bigots who apply that to their businesses are artificially limiting their selection of customer, employees, suppliers, contractors, and all manner of necessary resources; and therefore operating at a disadvantage in a free market.
And in the same manner, these idiots are artificially limiting their sources of information and thinking, far more than bigots refusing to have anything to do with blacks or Jews or Catholics. They are closing their minds, refusing to acknowledge even the most obvious contradictions in their mindset, and you cannot run a business or be a lawyer or doctor or engineer, or any kind of true leader, with that kind of closed mind. You can be a rabble rouser. You can rant in a blog. You can even buy a gun and rifle and shoot politicians.
But you cannot be a Supreme Court justice, a successful politicians, or any kind of social leader.
None of these people are going to be tomorrow's leaders. At best they'll be the cat's paws of tomorrow's leaders.
Did you even read the rest of it? Man, I know people like to joke about commenting before RTFA, but to comment on a comment without even RTFC, that's a new one. I must be pretty naive =:-O~
I think we're underestimating their influence. They may or may not ever directly elect a blatant SJW with pink hair, but they will influence the culture. Their Marxist professors who made them this way definitely did
But the professors don't seem to have nearly as much influence outside college as with their students. Even idiots like Lizzie Warren and Bernie Sanders aren't as bereft of sense as these fools. There's an old joke about various university degrees being only good for teaching the next generation of professors in that field. I think it may apply more widely than I thought.
A cranky, old, insane socialist spewing the same decades-old nonsense he's spewed since he got elected to public office somehow energized college students in a way they haven't been in ages because they were yearning for a candidate to embrace the oppression narrative they've learned their whole life
40 years ago Chevy Chase could drop the N word in a sketch and it was widely viewed as hilarious. Today Bill Maher has to grovel and apologize for an off-the-cuff joke to keep his job, intentions be damned
Keep in mind as well that schools have GE requirements that become more and more ridiculous, probably because the professors in the humanities and social sciences know how much their influence on campus would dwindle otherwise. Some poor accounting major with few political opinions to speak of might be influenced by the credits he had to take to fulfill his school's diversity requirement
Bernie's support is as temporary as Trump's. Both got voters who were sick and tired of the status quo. Neither has any real policies or any real following. Trump won because the DNC thought it was Hillary's turn. Both will leave no permanent change in government or political thought.
I don't think that fully explains Trump. I think Hillary would have destroyed someone like Kasich. And I see the Dems' 2020 candidate having some real Bernie influence. Hillary tacked left on things like the minimum wage specifically to say there wasn't much ideological difference between her and Bernie
See I think there's a distinction to make here. Bernie Sanders is an economic socialist/populist (frankly, even the socialist label is overplayed. He's more like 50's democrat. Jeremy Corbyn, now that's a socialist). He is notably NOT a cultural progressive. Anything he has to say on that subject is very much an afterthought. Attacking big business, big banks, economic inequality, etc., is clearly where his heart lies.
Remember, Bernie struggled to attract non-white votes in the primary. Not that minorities are especially culturally progressive, but if social equality had been a central part of his message I would expect him to get more attention from minorities for it.
So... more outright anti-capitalist than bond fidelity socialist?
Mother fucking squirrels........'bona fide'.
I would say so, yes. Havta say the squirrels came through on that one. "Bond fidelity" is pretty catchy.
Also, did anyone else notice that almost all of the people interviewed were white? As well as a significant portion of the protesting students? That's all kinds of ironic.
I counted 7 Black people in the whole video. Out of at least 500 students and protesters. Of the seven, it wasn't even clear they were protesting or just observing. They must think white people are crazy.
Indeed, fucking crazy crackas!
You are right that he deliberately avoids the cultural Marxism and he was targeted for doing so. But he does espouse a form of Marxism regardless with an oppressor class of the Kochs and the big banks, and this whole idea of "we just want to spread love/wealth but also do away with those who are inconvenient to our worldview". He was very popular with these same people for a reason
WILL influence the culture?
WILL?
Where have you been?
HAVE, and to it's detriment. This is not a new phenomenon.
The only thing those people are going to be is team lead at Burger Shop. They aren't going anywhere. Their argument falls apart as soon as they try to shut down anyone with an opposing opinion, that doesn't go very far anywhere, even in the most disorganized political situation people like them get shut down because they lack any imagination or debate skills. They fall apart and slit their wrists or the cowards just "cut" when they learn that the world doesn't give a fuck about them and their limited view on the way things are. When they realize their existence is pitiful and empty after they learn they can't be professional students for the rest of their life and that mommy and daddy have cut off the money spout.
This seems to be the whole point of evergreen, right?
Anyway, the adult SJWs are surprised when their own eats them. Like that professor who didn't understand why the mod was after him, because "I'm a progressive."
Fucking idiots. They are always the first to go. Reminds me of the true believer communists who thought it was all a big mistake that they were in the gulags
Top Men never make mistakes......
It's entertaining as hell to see them enter the purge stage prematurely, and if we're lucky more and more people on the left will refuse to align with this nonsense
They are always the first to go.
Not necessarily, but they are typically purged after the revolution's leaders ensconce themselves.
I do enjoy the bewilderment of the Left when the crocodile they've fed chunks of the Right to for years starts taking chunks out of them in turn.
The tears. The moans. The pleading apologetics: "But I am an ally!"
Sounds like Justice.
Like when the Nazis offed their competition when they got what they needed from them. "Guys? Guys? Aren't we all fascists here?"
Whatever unique liberal arts bubble these psychopaths are in, they are entering the real world with this mentality. Yes they are not employable in most real jobs. But they will become HuffPo writers, professors, faceless bureaucrats at universities, counselors and therapists for other crazy people telling them they aren't crazy as long as white males exist, public school teachers, showbiz types, "advocates" for crazy prog causes, and eventually they will directly enter politics
By eschewing most jobs that create real world value in favor of exerting influence and control, they will have an impact someday
Their highest and best use is being processed into Soylent Green.
They aren't psychopaths at all. Psychopaths don't hate because they don't care- they just use and destroy and have a good time doing it. These kids are hateful, willfully ignorant and stupid. They are not happy people and don't want anyone else to be either.
Yeah, marxists are always bitter bitches.
Jews ain't white!
So they don't get a day off?
Only on the Sabbath.
I don't get the day off but I don't roll on Shabbos!
The college needs to expel every student who disrupts classes or prevents free speech. All of this nonsense is incredibly disrespectful of the vast majority of students who would like to get educated and have not decided to wear the mantle of victim.
Anyone who physically prevent a faculty member from teaching or a student from attending class needs to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is how we stop this fascist behavior.
The university president needs to quit being such a worthless pussy.
"Only two more years till retirement. Only two more years till retirement."
Hard to stop being what you are.
At least the state legislature may vote to strip Evergreen of $26 million in state funding.
The Dept of Ed should strip millions in student loan funding. That would nip this BS right in the bud.
Somehow University Presidents seem to be universally appointed as the civilian authority over a dedicated campus police force. Dictator for life, appointed by some board of apparatchiks. The Progressive Archipelago. Islands of absolute rule by the Progressive Theocracy.
The University Appointed Dear Leaders invariably give the police under their control a stand down order. No matter the thuggishness of the Left, there are never consequences.
First item on the higher ed agenda is to get the campus police force under *elected* civilian control. Then get rid of all University kangaroo courts.
What I want to know is where are the parents that they're not beating these kids' asses or, more to the point, having their asses beat for raising such spoiled, stupid, entitled, worthless POS brats and allowing them to act this way and think it's acceptable?
Yes, these students ar proof that teens need many more beatings.
Hopefully, longterm, we can just weed out people like Bret. I remember some Germans, Turks, and various and sundry communists who had this plan.
Organ harvesting ring?
The students there are nothing but a bunch of communist parasites. Any employer with brains should blacklist Evergreen grads from future employment. I doubt any 'earned' degree there is worth a shit.
who accredits the accreditors that are accrediting this place.?
??????O I quit my office job and now I am getting paid 96 Dollars hourly. How? I work-over internet! My old work was making me miserable, so I was to try-something different. 2 years after?I can say my life is changed completely for the better!?2..Check it out what i do?.??????? ?????____try.....every....BODY..___???????-
". . .and then they came for the slightly less insane moonbats, and I said, 'Well, f***.'"
" ... about time." ?
Alright this shit is beyond silly. But I'm totally in favor of this whole white people get the day off thing. Should be a national holiday.
Lol, if you tried to mandate that -- "White man's day off!" -- the wailing would be epic.
You mean like Columbus Day?
Columbus was a swarthy Latino and technically a member of a protected class, a person of color.
Actually a brief foray into the magical world of Google reveals he was neither, Apparently he qualifies as Hispanic but not Latino, and by extension Latinx. I shamefully withdraw my comment and apologize profusely to any and all who had the misfortune to read it. Still pretty sure he was swarthy.
Columbus was actually the identity assumed by Jesus for a time after his second regeneration.
I can only laugh and laugh at Weinstein. Back in the 80s, he was a proto SJW who got a fraternity at Penn State in trouble for its entirely legal stripper show at a rush event -- he found it personally distasteful and so, of course, had to try to impose his preferences on the entire Greek system (and he wasn't even rushing, he'd been invited to the party by a friend).
He's reaping what he's sown his entire life. He wouldn't be a Professor at a crazy shithole like Evergreen State unless he was as moon-batty as his students.
Yeah, at the end of the day, it's like when you see two crackheads fight over a pipe: it is hard to feel sorry for anyone at Evergreen.
Amazing how the people who stick around the university setting later in life are often those who had the least fun being there. You don't find many professors who drank on weekends, much less joined a fraternity. You don't find diversity administrators who frequented the local fraternity houses they want to kick off
Exactly what I expected - that he's been a gleeful participant in these lynch mobs all his life, and only bemoans that the whirlwind he has sown has finally turned on him.
I have a late-millenial family member who is openly hostile to the very idea of free speech. He's gay and a "person of color", but that doesn't excuse it, especially when he once called me a "cis-gendered heterosexual white male" in an effort to get me to shut up about something pointless.
I guess it's a sign of how far we've come, that the biggest problem in peoples' lives is that they might hear something that they disagree with, and that violence need be used to prevent that occurrence.
Professor Weinstein says something very interesting there- he thinks that the students legitimately believe that he is an awful racist and needs to be taken down.
How did these students get to the point that they can come to such precise and damning conclusions about people that they barely know and with such conviction that they see it as their moral obligation to ruin those peoples' lives?
I guess it's a sign of how far we've come, that the biggest problem in peoples' lives is that they might hear something that they disagree with
OK ....
, and that violence need be used to prevent that occurrence.
Not OK.
he once called me a "cis-gendered heterosexual white male"
What did he say when you called him a snotty little punk?
-jcr
Literally in a discussion between two of my friends, a radical lefty and a more moderate trump supporter, the lefty literally said "says the straight white male" as if that's a fucking counter argument. You can't use evidence or logic or reason, because if you did you would lose every time, so they are disregarded as tools of the "capitalist colonialist patriarchy"
These fucks are, as Jordan peterson said, ideologically possessed. The world is the good and the bad, and it eliviates all responsibility for thinking.
This is what really gets to me. It's one thing to spout this shit anonymously to strangers over the internet. It's completely different when you're accusing people you personally know well of unconscious thought crimes that invalidate their rights to freedom of expression.
I wish I could have thought of something witty to say. I was taken aback and, frankly, haven't really spoken to him since that day. He made quite clear what he thought of me.
I don't think a witty rejoinder is called for in this situation. The child was being disrespectful, and the appropriate reaction is to correct him.
-jcr
A good solid punch to the nose, for starters.
The fact that Evergreen admits 98% of applicants dovetails nicely with my belief that libertarians make up 2% of the population.
Meanwhile, Trumptards across the nation are sending death threats to pretty much every theater company with the word "Shakespeare" anywhere in their name:
Knives are out for theaters that bear the name 'Shakespeare'
Well, considering the left has made violence their stock in trade since the 60s, you can hardly be surprised when those they label their ideological enemies decide to give that right back.
Wingnut violence far exceeds moonbat violence.
Im not sure which is which, but given your track record and how vile you are I'm guessing 'wing nuts' are the non progtards. So of course you're wrong. But that's how it works for you, right? Just make some shit up.
Maybe, maybe not, but certainly not lately.
Easy to find (Wikipedia)
As of June 2015, right-wing attacks since the September 11 attacks (9/11) had claimed more lives (48) than attacks committed by jihadists (26).[40] Thereafter, jihadist terrorist attacks (the 2015 San Bernardino attack and the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting) raised the Islamic extremist death toll above that caused by right-wing extremists. As of July 2016, the New America Foundation placed the number killed in terrorist attacks in the U.S. (since 9/11) as follows: 94 killed in jihadist terrorist attacks, 50 killed in far-right attacks, and 5 killed in far-left attacks.[41]
New America's tally shows 21 instances of right-wing terrorist attacks causing 53 fatalities since September 11, 2001. These were:[41]
Islam wins again! Even by cheery picking to exclude 9/11.
Also, if you count casualties, Boston Marathon had 285.

I would successfully argue that Islamo-Fascism is right wing too (conservative, throwback)
Thanks for successfully defending the right to bear arms, PB!
And I do. I am more pro-gun rights than most Republicans since I am against the federal prohibition of plastic guns.
Yeah, man, woo-hoo!!!
For a bypass that "Black Lives Matter" could use vis-a-vis "plastic guns" laws, please see full details at http://www.churchofsqrls.com/BLAM/ ...
The left wing terrorism page is woefully incomplete. It doesn't mention even one black lives matter related attack.
The left wing terrorism page is woefully incomplete. It doesn't mention even one black lives matter related attack.
Or pretty much every incident mentioned in "Days of Rage".
So if you define right wing to include pretty much everything, I guess you're right.
May as well lump all spousal homicides in their too. Killing your wife is right wing wing because misogyny is a right wing thing, right?
Remember when Obama pardoned that Puerto Rican nationalist terririst who had orchestrated scores of bombungs back in the 60s even after he had refused to recounted violence?
Progressives just abhor violence, yes they do.
Most of those aren't politically motivated attacks. You are so fucking full of shit. And wasn't the Portland train stabbed a Bernie supporter? I bet if I dig into these one by one that maybe none of them are what you said as they are.
And you're surprised that someone with 'Buttplug' in their name is full of shit?
Wingnut violence far exceeds moonbat violence.
Ghetto violence exceeds them all.
I call ghetto violence "crime". But yes, I am sure that it does.
How much ghetto violence is by Republicans, asshat?
Entirely true. As demonstrated in Arlington, moonbats can't shoot for shit.
Look who can't count.
All sides have been violent, it's inherent in the human species. As soon as they become zealots on either side, they lose capacity for clear thinking and replace it with hate and violence; I don't care if it's far left or far right. And you are completely wrong about it being liberals only. I have seen plenty good old boy republicans who would be happy if every one on the left was locked up and beaten daily because they're "libtards" . The left has no monopoly on violence being their stock and trade, there is plenty of it to go around on both side of that political spectrum and anyone who says otherwise is hiding his head in the ground yelling la-la-la and not paying attention.
Shakespeare is a well know commie lib elitist.
Shakespeare is white male code for "shake a spear", aka "spear chucker", aka the N word.
And left wing academia is moving away from
Shakespeare for this same SJW shit. The Bard can't catch a break these days
Claiming to have received death threats is a common sympathy-generating tactic by those whose actions are subjected to criticism, in an attempt to associate the criticism with violence. Dollars to donuts they are fabricated.
You know, I think it should be made plain what caused all this.
It wasn't that Trump was the Caesar stand it--it was the applause at the assassination.
Go watch film of the black president(he looks like Obama if you think all black people look alike) Caesar--no clapping when he's killed.
But the Trump Caesar? They applaud. Sometimes they stand. It's pretty clear that this is a wish-fulfillment scene.
Weinstein did a good interview with Joe Rogan a week or two ago.
but then I'd have to listen to Joe Rogan.
I think the students need to read their own damn "social contract."

(a) Evergreen can thrive only if members respect the rights of others while enjoying their own rights. Students, faculty, administrators, and staff members may differ widely in their specific interests, in the degree and kinds of experiences they bring to Evergreen, and in the functions which they have agreed to perform. All must share alike in prizing academic and interpersonal honesty, in responsibly obtaining and in providing full and accurate information, and in resolving their differences through due process and with a strong will to collaboration.
(3) Freedom and civility: The individual members of the Evergreen community are responsible for protecting each other and visitors on campus from physical harm, from personal threats, and from uncivil abuse. Civility is not just a word; it must be present in all our interactions. The Evergreen community will support the right of its members, individually or in groups, to express ideas, judgments, and opinions in speech or writing. Among the basic rights of individuals are freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly and association, freedom of belief, and freedom from intimidation, violence, and abuse.
They don't actually mean it, though.
Doesn't apply to racist and Nazis ie everyone who disagrees with any of their dogma.
That contract was probably written by old, white, slave-owning men, and they didn't even speak English back then anyway.
As long as this idiocy if just confined to a few campuses it won't be a problem.
On the right, the Bob Jones University and Liberty University anti free speech idiocy hasn't infected the general public.
Don't even know who you're talking about. The fact is there is no equivalency. Which what you profs always claim when denial no longer works in an argument. My ,artist aunt pulls the same shit. Either profs are pure as the driven snow, or when that finally fails, it's "the right does it at least as much".
Well, they don't. Progresssivism is inherently evil. You're evil. Just fucking admit you're the bad guys. I might have at least a shred of respect for you if you owned what you are.
Have people been threatened for speech at BJ and Liberty?
Are they financed by taxpayers (beyond student loans etc. that every uni is eligible for)?
Are they financed by taxpayers (beyond student loans etc. that every uni is eligible for)?

We Must Not Excuse Religious Universities' Censorship of Student Speech
Under a section governing relationships on campus?a section common to private Christian liberal arts institutions?LeTourneau University's 2014-2015 handbook bans "public advocacy for the position that sex outside of a biblically-defined marriage is morally acceptable."
https://goo.gl/1BGVGP
More campus idiocy - but acceptable to the wingnut side.
You really are a fucking bigot. So typical of a progressive, such as yourself. Nasty, close minded piece of shit.
Now off with you. I'm sure you have a book burning, or some other bukkshit to attend to.
No, religion is evil, you fucking dimwit conservative. I am just a capitalist secularist classic liberal like an Ayn Rand (who also hated you conservative freedom-hating assholes).
No, you're a bet welsher who bullshits constantly.
"I am just a capitalist secularist classic liberal like an Ayn Rand"
You're a lying piece of shit.
Tell us again about how government price-fixing amounts to an "open" web; that's always good for a laugh, turd.
Capitalist. Riiiight. You're a capitalist like Tony is a libertarian.
No person here believes you're a supporter of capitalism. You're just another commie douchbag afraid to own up to your own politics. Whassamatter, the 100 million dead bother your conscience? Of are you just afraid all those bodies make you look less-than-hip?
Yeah, I know. Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates are "commies" too. To a brain-dead conservative anyone who doesn't vote GOP is a commie.

"Yeah, I know. Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates are "commies" too. To a brain-dead conservative anyone who doesn't vote GOP is a commie."
No, you lying pile of shit, Buffett's a hypocrite while he and Gates are both limo-liberals who inherited theirs and the hell with anyone else.
And, turd, please explain why you included Bezos. Just one more lie on your part? Surprise!
By the way asshole, aside from Ken there are damn few conservatives here. But in your mind I guess if you aren't a fellow traveler you're automatically a conservative. Makes things easier for your tiny mind to classify people, huh?
Then you're an idiot if you can't find one of the thousands of comments of mine that proves that I am a "commie".
I defend capitalism and markets every day.
It looks like you are the one who uses a tiny mind to classify people.
Then you're an idiot if you can't find one of the thousands of comments of mine that proves that I am a "commie".
Something something government price fixing something something open Internet...
Your ferfent love of the ACA and nearly every economic regulation ever proposed suggests otherwise, but ok.
Yeah, my communist aunt makes horsehair claims, just like you do.
Keep telling yourself that.
You're all progressive.
I have ten times your brain power you dull sack of offal. You're a commie piece of shit, and a known liar.
1. Private university vs. public university.
2. Words in a handbook at LeTourneau vs. actual threats and sanctions against speakers at Evergreen.
Why can't both be condemned?
I'm not going to defend the idiots at Evergreen. Are you defending the policy at LeTourneau?
Oh, we can condemn both.
However, only one is news, and the other, isn't.
"Religious school being religiousy" didn't just happen recently.
Evergreen's misbehavior is more worthy of an "aren't they adorable with their silly old views no one ever follows".
By the way I like how the "day of freedom from white devils" was voluntary, but if one doesn't "volunteer" then the mob demands you be fired.
As a private university, LeTourneau has every right to enact such a policy; likewise students have every right not to go there in view of the policy. Nobody is forced to fund them against their will. That's how freedom works.
There is no comparison between that and what is going on at Evergreen.
Far from "condemning both", you are clearly bringing up the LeTourneau policy as a red herring.
Do these unis get more or less public funding than Yale?
Did they hold their president hostage in his office?
I that Michael Edelstein in the still frame of the top video? Looks like him, except I probably haven't mentally aged him enough since last I saw him, before he moved to San Fran.
I think what bothers me the most concerning the radical left is how the media props them up, legitimizes them, glorifies them, and insinuates that their insane opinions are shared by a huge swath of not the majority of Americans.
Most of their pontificating is a combination of social signaling and attention whoring. The media just feeds it and encourages it.
"pontificating", you say?
"Angela Merkel hails message from God as Pope says to take on Trump over Paris agreement"

"DONALD Trump's refusal to take part in the Paris Accord on climate change will not prevent its success, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said, after a holy message from the Vatican."

Which "success" has yet to be defined. But, hey, we got that sciency old fart in a funny hat behind it, so what could go wrong?
Seems like God should be able to make the climate whatever he wants. Or is Trump more powerful than God?
"Seems like God should be able to make the climate whatever he wants. Or is Trump more powerful than God?"
I like it!
"Physician, heal thyself"
Pope Fraudis seems extremely comfortable with secularist politicians and elites cheering him on and using his missives to shame their populations into compliance with their statist schemes. Sometimes I wonder if he has read Luke 6:20-26.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake... Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
Certainly JP2 received a great deal of respect from world leaders after the USSR fell, but they always kept him at arms length with his emphatic opposition to baby-killing and butt sex. But Fraudis fits the mold of the false prophet perfectly.
Seems like God should be able to make the climate whatever he wants.
Don't laugh. Ask Noah about that.
Leaving phone chargers plugged in and burning coal are the modern equivalents of having sex with angels.
DONALD Trump's refusal to take part in the Paris Accord on climate change will not prevent its success
I agree. It was never going to be successful anyway.
Without Uncle Sucker to siphon from, where ar they going to get all the free money? I don't see China coughing up anything.
Being the world's largest pollution producers, they probably cough up a lot of things, just not in a financial sense.
How is the media propping up the Evergreen protesters, in this case?
I was speaking more in general, not specifically about Evergreen. I do think however that these students feel empowered and even entitled to act the way they do because of the media attention that has been given for years to the college "outrage" machine. I think rolling ones eyes is a more appropriate response to them then pretending their tantrums have any real merit.
By not reporting on their crimes?
The greatest power the media has is the power to ignore.
But we care what a bunch of functional illiterates at a bottom tier college do?
For the playoffs, the loser libs have assembled an "All Star Team"!
"Meet the all-star team of lawyers Robert Mueller has assembled for the Trump-Russia investigation"

"As the investigation into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russia gains traction, special counsel Robert Mueller has begun quietly assembling a formidable team of top lawyers and investigators.

"That is a great, great team of complete professionals," Kenneth Starr, the former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton, told ABC News."
http://www.sfgate.com/technolo.....227550.php
Who knows? Maybe they'll find he paid the parking ticket of his Russian valet in 2010.
Ooooh, ooooh.
I just wasted time reading it:
They get testimonials from that jag-off Preet Whatever, and it turns out the ones identified are donors to various Clinton political funds.
We need an independent investigation, right?
Who investigates the Special Investigator?
Who is supposed to? The media.
Who actually does? Nobody.
Trump should fire Meuller and get someone appointed to go after the Clintins and Obama for their various crimes. That would send the left into outer orbit.
Won't be long now. They have begun to eat their own.
This time it's different. This time it's happening to the Left. And that's bad, m'kay?
It's all grins and giggles while the victims are on the Right.
When the Right is fired for WrongFeelz? Eh
When the Right has their talks shut down by rioting mobs? Eh
When the Right is sent to the hospitable by terrorist street thugs whose tactics are to drag victims to where they can be isolated and attacked by a half dozen people simultaneously? Eh
But when they want a Leftist professor fired?
That's just going too far!

Remember when (Japan) (Microsoft) (GE) (GM) was going to take over the world? Neil Irwin doesn't.
"Someone predicted X before, but it didn't happen; therefore, X can never happen." This fallacy needs a name.
When were GE and GM supposed to take over the world?
Or MS for that matter? MS' slight shrinkage is only due to the desktop/laptop market shrinking due to the rise of mobile phones and tablets. Its dominance in the desktop OS and office software market is as big as ever.
Which technology is going to displace Amazon and Walmart's advantages?
But if they had competed better in the phone department (it's not like there weren't/aren't windows phones out there) would you be complaining about their market share? They have a pretty good chunk of the tablet market with the Surface line. So it's not like some new technology displaced MS as a monopoly or potential monopoly. People just have more choices and they chose other products over MS.
The same could happen with Amazon. One day they could get too comfortable in their market dominance and people will go with someone else.
So it's not like some new technology displaced MS as a monopoly or potential monopoly. People just have more choices and they chose other products over MS.
Huh? People replacing desktops and laptops with mobile phones aren't choosing against MS, they're choosing against the desktop computing technology itself. MS still rules the roost in desktop/laptop OS and office software. I've heard lots of people complain about Windows and Office on their desktop computers, but none of them proposed getting an iPhone as a solution.
Windows Phones didn't really start appearing in large numbers until Apple and Google were already dominant in that market. MS was playing by the Kodak (digital cameras) and Xerox (electronic document) playbook, recognizing that they had no inherent advantage in the market for the new technology, so their best bet was to stay away from that technology and hope it was a passing fad.
It's called economies of scale, and it's a good thing. There's no reason why small businesses are better than big ones. NYT is just vapid.
It's not so much the size that's a problem, it's the market dominance. Amazon's growth is making the market uncompetitive, which inhibits the free market's self-regulating processes. Ditto for FB and Twitter.
Also, big business has a symbiotic relationship with big government.
Lately Amazon's prices have been less than competitive for some things and I have to buy it elsewhere (sometimes Wal Mart, sometimes some random website selling that particular obscure item for much cheaper than Amazon). This is becoming true for more and more items.
It's Amazon sold and FBA items. Amazon is trying box out private sellers and they already charge them 8% just to use their website.
Amazon charges more but you can get free shipping. With an Amazon Guarantee it can be worth it but Amazon still makes more money charging more for items and you paying for Prime. you just have to weigh the cost vs benefit of Amazon vs stores. The Amazon collecting sales tax makes a big difference though.
There was also a time John Galbraith had IBM taking over the world.
The problem isn't really with the students. They are merely the product of years of leftist indoctrination by our educational system. They are clearly deranged. The problem is with these weak, frightened school administrators like George.
Reason, still on the beat of the greatest threat to decent civilization out there--teenagers.
The hand that rocks the cradle...
I'm willing to bet there are more 24 year old super seniors than teenagers in there.
I agree with the Evergreen State brats on one thing: their so-called president is a cretin who deserves all of the contempt they have for him.
More of an analid by my estimation, or a similar form of invertebrate.
VICE News Tonight, for those who don't have HBO, is an extremely biased opinion show which seems to be masquerading as a news program for Millennials. I often wonder if Moynihan watches the segments that aren't his. It doesn't seem like a fit.
VIE comes from the same unbiased minds as Real Time With Bill Maher.

"Don't oppress us!" says the people who would have seizure fits if you took away their extremely defined, bullshit labels which they created and self impose.
This is why I'm for a healthy amount of bullying. It teaches adversity, g-damnit. Before us we see the stinky kids, the glue huffers, the cry babies, the out in the open booger eaters...and they all grew up during the time where schools started being responsible for raising the students, while at the same time, having their normal parental type duties stripped.
So were these students told, quit being a weirdo, which would have done them some good? No, instead the other kids were told they need to tip toe around their weirdness and accept Trevor as a stinky glue huffer. Trevor, instead of receiving parental direction, never developed real social skills, because everyone was too afraid of hurting his feelings and telling him, hey, life may be a little easier, pal, if you just stopped huffing glue.
Evergreen has essentially created a platform for all of the socially retarded who just want to live in a land where they can eat stickers, shit their pants, and be accepted for it.
So, she wants a "final solution" for un-woke white people. Did anyone else feel a chill run up their spine when that walking stereotype said that?
I mean, I'm not too worried. I doubt any of these snowflakes are much of a threat in a physical confrontation, but still. If these are the kinds of people that are going to be infesting government bureaucracies and elected positions in the future then that means they'll have more than enough political power to enact their "final solution to the white male cis-hetero shitlord problem."
RE: If You Think Campus Free Speech Is No Big Deal, Watch This Shocking Vice News Report From Evergreen State College
Michael Moynihan finds students scared to express "nuanced" ideas, a progressive professor demonized as a racist, protesters mocking "free speech," and a college president who cannot rule out that he might be a white supremacist.
Oh yeah.
Nothing like imposing censorship and call it political correctness in order to control the speech patterns of people who paid their tuition, books, etc. This concept has worked well for all the proggies in academia in order to advance their asinine socialist ideas and remove all their opposition's arguments. I can't think of a more secure hiding place for the socialists than in the re-education camps here in the USA disguised as "institutions of higher learning." Now students are afraid to speak their minds, have a bunch of clueless zombie students parroting their brain dead progressive professors who consider anyone who disagrees with them a "racists," poke fun at free speech (all the while enjoying that same right while denying it to others) and calling the president of the college a white supremacists without any evidence.
Isn't it wonderful to know that some our tax money is going to this chickenshit school?
