Trump to Tap Christopher Wray for FBI Director, ISIS Claims Tehran Attacks, Sessions Warns About 'Sextortion': A.M. Links
-
HOSSEIN MERSADI/EPA/Newscom Donald Trump will nominate Christopher A. Wray as the new director of the FBI, the president tweeted Wednesday morning. Here's Wray's bio from law-firm King & Spalding, where he's a partner.
- ISIS is taking credit for Wednesday attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Iran's capital that have killed at least 12 people and "injured many more," according to the BBC. "Gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs entered the parliament on Wednesday morning. Images from the scene showed a major security operation as forces surrounded the building. Heavy gunfire could be heard. … Speaker Ali Larijani downplayed the events, describing it as a 'minor issue.'"
- Attorney General Jeff Sessions is warning against the "sextortion" of America's children, a term I've also seen show up recently in federal legislation. Consider this an early warning of impending moral panic. And speaking of moral panics: "Human trafficking: as easy as ordering a pizza," according to U.S. Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio).
- A federal court ruled against efforts to dismantle Connecticut's complicated and anti-competitive liquor-pricing regulations.
- A woman is on trial in Massachusetts for allegedly bullying her boyfriend to suicide.
- "An ICE detainer is not an order of the court," said Michigan's Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, whose department will not comply with Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) requests to detain jail inmates beyond court-ordered releases dates. "You cannot hold a person based upon what ICE said. It's not a court. We're not a probable cause detention facility. Everybody that is committed to the jail is there upon the order of the court."

Donald Trump will nominate Christopher A. Wray as the new director of the FBI...
He can finally get revenge on Kong for what it did to his mother.
Hello.
Suck my dick Teresa.
Trump could have also nominated someone with the surname of Lange or Watts then as well...
Artie died just before his chance to make history. At least Lou Reed is still an option.
And I'm not sure why I had a brain fart and thought for a second that Artie is no longer with us, but it looks great next to the Lou Reed joke at least 😉
And I'm not sure why I had a brain fart and thought for a second that Artie is no longer with us,
I remember hearing about/reading; On January 2, 2010, Lange attempted suicide for the second time at his home by drinking bleach, slitting his wrists, and stabbing himself in the abdomen nine times with a 13-inch kitchen knife.
Considering that was attempt No. 2(,3,4-12?), I could understand if conspiracy theories existed for every day he's lived since.
Trump to tap... hehe.
Donald Trump will nominate Christopher A. Wray
who, wray?
Is Trump violating the First Amendment by blocking people on Twitter?
We do need concrete evidence he's violating our rights so, sure, why not.
Is Trump violating the First Amendment by blocking people on Twitter?
Let's say it it... then what?
Hey, if Twitter block lists become unconstitutional, Twitter might become a lot more fun.
NATIONALIZE IT.
WaPo;DR
I'm going to guess they answered "yes" which translated to reality would be "no".
It looks like they answered "probably not".
Well, at least they got the idea floated out there for the hive mind to pick up and run with.
Volokh;SR
Aw, they snuck in someone sensible? In that case...
I find it hard to believe that anyone would consider Twitter to be an organ of the government.
I'm clear: if human rights laws get in the way of tackling extremism and terrorism, we will change those laws to keep British people safe.
This is unbelievable. The Brits have rights left?
They have "human rights laws" anyway.
Hopefully they have lefts left too.
Whether or not one agrees with this depends on whether the "human rights" law in question protects negative liberties or conveys positive rights.

Step on the stones

That's on the ocean, dummy. Try "she's there, waiting for me".
Uh...'Walk on the oce'... IT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG!
Speaker Ali Larijani downplayed the events, describing it as a 'minor issue.'
Workplace violence. Iranian OSHA is on it.
King & Spalding, where he's a partner.
Oh boy, who will be the first to find a client of theirs with a Russian-sounding name? You'll get 100 Twitter points.

Excellent
A federal court ruled against efforts to dismantle Connecticut's complicated and anti-competitive liquor-pricing regulations.
But they're nutmegging any sense!
It's vitally important we protect the terrible small package stores, I really love getting a side of cold disdain and icy judgement from the locals. The dust on everything really enhances the inflated prices and deflated selection.
Consider this an early warning of impending moral panic.
So we're just dropping focus on the clown problem without any resolution?
shifting focus to a subspecies of the clown family
If some people would just quit clowning around.
I need a Juggalo of Fanta grape and Everclear.
Juggalo * full of...
"You cannot hold a person based upon what ICE said.
Good advice from Cube when dealing with the federal government: check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Today I didn't even have to use my AK
Gotta say it was a good day
I got octopus coming out my ears! Where's the yeyo?
"Human trafficking: as easy as ordering a pizza," according to U.S. Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio).
Thirty minutes or the congressman's half and half is free.
Given the government's propensity to bastardize the meaning of words --- it might well be.
After all, a kiss on the cheek is now the same thing as rape at college...
Those people are super close to considering shaking hands domineering paternalistic behavior.
Yep. And considering "jazz hands" offensive to the differently-fingered.
Speaker Ali Larijani downplayed the events, describing it as a 'minor issue.'"
"Compared to our nuclear weapons development, that is."
Jeff Sessions is quickly moving toward the John McCain level of sanity.
Until Jeff Sessions advocates torturing Jihad POWs, get the USA involved in every combat action possible, and says he's a Maverick when he's actually a Democrat- Sessions has some wiggle room.
He is no Dickless Cheney.
Yet.
Give him time.
Cheney. I just threw up a little.
"It's just as easy as ordering a pizza, to order a person."
Ah, but is it as easy as buying a *gun*?
"Hello, Dominos? I'd like to order a deep dish soy-pepperoni pizza with almond cheese, a blond six foot tall hooker, and a Colt Python."
"And I understand that if they're not here in twenty minutes my order is free, right?"
Ordering anything is easy. I just ordered my dog to go bite Session's nuts off. Delivery is the hard part.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is warning against the "sextortion" of America's children...
He originally suggested "pervsuasion" but was shouted down at the DoJ.
The Con Man should unleash that "secret plan" any day now.

"We're gonna lock and load!"
'Lock and load' was my nickname in college.
Only a few more days now until your piece of shit book finally goes on sale and sells no copies!
.The real threat: that dude in the picture walking and looking down at his phone.
Distracted walking is just as dangerous as distracted driving, if not worse.
At least with a phone walker you don't have to honk to alert xi to the light having turned green.
You possibly snark but that PSA is actually a thing in NY.
Meanwhile across the ocean:
Looking to capitalize on his charisma and star power, California Gov. Jerry Brown sits down with Chinese President Xi Jinping to talk climate.
So, how is this not a violation of the Logan Act?
Trump represents the USA in negotiations with foreign powers.
Its different when Gov. Moonbeam speaks with countries trying to infiltrate our election process because....lefty reasons.
Jerry Brown has charisma?
We should let the man make a fool out of himself without judg- oh who an I kidding. What a retard.
"You cannot hold a person based upon what ICE said. It's not a court. We're not a probable cause detention facility. Everybody that is committed to the jail is there upon the order of the court."
Get a load of Mr. Law over here.
Mr. Law must have forgotten about detainers which are extra-judicial means of holding people in custody pending transfer to other LEAs.
Sounds like he's trying to get the feds to get a federal judge to sign a warrant. ICE is attempting to assert authority it doesn't have.
Sears, Kmart closing 72 stores, including 2 in Alabama; complete list of locations

MAKING AMURICA GREAT AGIN!
I've had a Craftsman mower for 20+ years and have never given it oil or a tune up. Now that Sear sold one of its better divisions to shitty Black and Decker, they have made it easy for me to avoid their stores altogether.
Yup. Make room for companies that actually make the required sales to stay in business.
I wonder why Kmart, sears, etc cannot compete with Amazon and Walmart? /S
Yes, competition happening.
But how will I know when America is Great Again instead of the shithole the Con Man depicted us as?
When your mother stops buying Chipotlaway.
By Con Man you mean Obama, right?

"Yes, competition happening."
Hey, turd! See below re: price fixing (known to nitwits as 'net neutrality, nitwit)
B-but corporstikns have immense power over you and are immortal!
Did the Cheeto in Chief promise to keep those stores open? They've been tanking for 10-15 years now. The Kmart in our town (an abysmal place) closed back when Obumbles was at the helm. Big building left empty. The only staffing difference from when it was open to now was probably only 3 employees...it was a ghost town before...now it just has no products.
"An ICE detainer is not an order of the court," said Michigan's Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon
I'll bet the Wayne County jail is known as the "Napoleon Complex".
this is like the 5th comment that's made me chuckle out loud just now. well played this morning, folks
Thanks, Elizabeth. You're a lot more fun than Virginia!
Robbie who?
She seems like a Cunthausen by Proxy case, but I'm not sure why it isn't protected speech.
I have to admit that I'm a little torn here. I think she obviously intended violence here but free speech is sacrosanct. I think I have to begrudgingly would have to dismiss charges but hope beyond hope she falls down the steps in Georgetown (seen in the Exorcist) into a big pile of broken glass, brine, and mountain lions.

It's kinda like the whacko with a gun: If you're goning to have freedoms, occasionally someone is going to make you wonder if it's a good idea.
But it's like the market. It's not perfect, just as good as we can hope for when dealing with humans.
If I'm on that jury, she walks.
Despite my poor grammar, I'm not actually illiterate. Just a really shitty proofreader.
She seems like a Cunthausen by Proxy case, but I'm not sure why it isn't protected speech.
Apparently, if you need to run into the store and leave your kids in the car, K-Mart's the place to do it.
COMMERCE CLAUSE, WHERE ARE YOU?
"I'm clear: if human rights laws get in the way of tackling extremism and terrorism, we will change those laws to keep British people safe."
Somebody's butching it up for an election.
And today's nominees for 'we hope this wool covers your eyes' award, we have Etsy, Kickstarter, Mozilla, and Reddit, Y Combinator and Amazon.
"Tech companies to stage online protest for net neutrality"
[...]
"On July 12, the companies and organizations are expected to change their websites to raise awareness of the FCC effort, which is aimed at deregulating the telecommunications and cable industries. Mozilla, for example, will change what users see on their screens when they open a new browser window.
At stake are the government's net neutrality rules, which prohibit Internet providers from blocking or slowing websites or charging them special fees in order for their content to be displayed to consumers."
http://www.sfgate.com/business.....200764.php
It would help if we quit 'euphemizing' what is nothing other than price-fixing by the government, so lets get that out of the way; fuck 'net neutrality'
These folks are arguing to have their prices fixed by the government, which they can certainly do without any assistance from the government at all.
So, why are they wasting this time, you ask? Well, by having the government fix their (and EVERYONE ELSE'S) prices, they can put huge blocks in front of any innovators who might come along.
If anyone is fooled that they are doing this 'to help the little guy', well, the deal on that bridge is not gonna last long.
Heard about this. What a bunch of lying shitweasels.
It would help if we quit 'euphemizing' what is nothing other than price-fixing by the government, so lets get that out of the way; fuck 'net neutrality'
So, if we support Donation Neutrality, will Kickstarter or Y Combinator start mailing us checks even though we aren't members/customers? If we support Shipping Neutrality will we be able to get Amazon to deliver our checks quicker without charging us to belong to Prime?
Bwahahaha!
It's Pizzagate!
Massive troll.
