Brickbat: You Snooze, You Lose

A Cleveland, Ohio, 911 dispatcher was suspended for six days after being caught falling asleep during emergency calls. The dispatcher, Jasmin Thomas, had previously been warned about sleeping on the job. "Not excuses, but the reality is that she's a single mom," Steve Loomis, president of Cleveland's police union, told WJW-TV in Thomas' defense. "She's going to college full time, and she's working 40, 50, sometimes 60 hours a week up there."

Government: so fucking amazing, it's incompetent.
Yeah, those of us in the private sector know how to sleep on the job without getting caught.
Cleveland must have some real boring-ass emergencies. Way to let everyone down, Cleveland.
Haha, Ass-Emergencies
the absolute worst kind of emergencies...
Gerbils?
What kind of ass emergency is boring?
Hey, we don't say that anyone "fell asleep."
The situation is that sleep was induced during the performance of her duties... by the communications console, or by the chair.
The important thing is that she got home safe.
This is the most important news story of our time.

Y'know, you could probably hire another full time dispatcher / call person for only slightly more than what you're paying in overtime Mr. State.
