I'd almost say this is petty bullshit on the part of the dickhead cop, but $250 isn't petty. Is there really any question that they're an organized street gang shaking down the peasantry and running a protection racket?

    1. Libertarian   9 years ago

I'm no expert when it comes to shakedown operations, but I wouldn't think the homeless would be a good target.

      1. AlmightyJB   9 years ago

Cops like to prey on the powerless. Cops are not very smart.

The pizza citation, Cutler said, was what some authorities refer to as a "quality of life" enforcement.

"The problem is, whose quality of life are you talking about?" Cutler asked.

Well, there was the city's quality of life, which is affected by revenue. Or the cop's quality of life, which can only be improved the more authority boners he achieves.

  3. gaoxiaen   9 years ago

When he can't come up with the cash he probably won't be homeless, at least for a while.

    Was it deep dish?

    1. pan fried wylie   9 years ago

      The guy is still alive.

    2. Rhywun   9 years ago

From my experience in California, it doesn't matter. It can barely be described as 'pizza' either way.

      1. Cynical Asshole   9 years ago

        -1 California Pizza Kitchen

aka "the worst pizza restaurant I've ever seen."

  5. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

The article is short on details.

Does 'quality of life' include the cop getting home safely?

I hear homeless people can get pre-tty testy with tupperware.

    1. AlmightyJB   9 years ago

Testy with Tupperware would not make a very good band name.

      1. pan fried wylie   9 years ago

Tupperware Testicle Terry and The Torrential Two Tones, though....

  6. Longtobefree   9 years ago

San Francisco? The citation was because it was pizza. Tofu would have been OK. If there was a sugar sweetened drink involved, it becomes a felony.
    Secede already!

  7. Radioactive   9 years ago

    oh, the horror!

  8. creech   9 years ago

Perhaps the homeless man was of Italian descent? Otherwise, in a place like San Francisco, he could be cited for "cultural appropriation" too.

  9. Cynical Asshole   9 years ago

Remember this and similar stories the next time you see or hear some proggie asshat bloviating about how much they care about "the poor."

  10. MamaLiberty   9 years ago

Could someone give me a clue why eating pizza (or anything else) at a bus stop would be a problem, let alone against the "law"?

Not that this is any surprise, of course. I actually traveled to San Francisco once, about 45 years ago for my mother-in-law's funeral. Never had any desire to go back.
