Former Trump security adviser Michael Flynn is reportedly shopping around for immunity deals, offering to give up what he knows about Trump's ties to Russia in exchange for prosecutorial leniency. Trump tweeted Friday morning that "Mike Flynn should ask for immunity in that this is a witch hunt (excuse for big election loss), by media & Dems, of historic proportion."

  • Trump has continued to bully members of the House Freedom Caucus, calling out several individually in a series of Thursday tweets. The president also floated the idea of changing libel laws somehow in order to go after "the failing" New York Times for having "gotten [Trump] wrong for the past two years."

  • Heroin use in America has grown most among young men, whites, and low-income and low-education populations.
  • Colorado considers stopping the prosecution of sexting teenagers as child pornographers but making public schools teach an anti-sexting curriculum.
  • A 14-year-old girl pretending to be 18 created a "Sugar Baby" profile on SeekingArrangement.com, met with an adult man, had sex, accepted $100, and never mentioned her real age. The man has now been arrested by the FBI for child sex trafficking.
  • Harvard administrators are proposing further sanctions against students who choose to join unrecognized single-sex groups or clubs—including prohibiting them from Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships, leading athletic teams, or receiving post-graduate fellowships—under the banner of being "intolerant of intolerance."

Someone's about to find himself on the business end of a tweet storm.

      Hello.

Harvard will out intolerant its intolerances into irrelevance.

Exactly. Access to decent skin flicks is a right.

You'll need to switch over to C-PORN+ if you're into scat porn.

    TRUMP VOTERS

    1. SIV   8 years ago

If Trump ever follows through on his 20+ year-held proposal to "legalize all the drugs" the GOP will secure the junkie vote for generations.

That's actually a pretty good point.

Colorado considers stopping the prosecution of sexting teenagers as child pornographers but making public schools teach an anti-sexting curriculum.

All in all, not a terrible trade off.

    1. Conchfritters   8 years ago

Shouldn't that be a part of 6th grade home economics? After you learn to use a toaster and a sewing machine, have a couple days devoted to sexting?

      1. mad.casual   8 years ago

Keeping your nudes behind a paywall is just good home economics.

On Mocking Dying Working Class White People
I'm just going to cut and paste comments from this story at the Huffington Post on white working class people dying of despair. Keep in mind, the suicide, alcohol, and drug abuse is causing deaths at the level of the AIDS epidemic at its height. This sentiment is common, I just picked comments from one thread on one article....

    1. Mickey Rat   8 years ago

I thought an elevated suicide rate meant that we had to accommodate the effected group with whatever their hearts desire?

      1. ThomasD   8 years ago

Oh great, now we have to add an A for Appalachia to LGBTQWERTY.

        When will it all end????

    2. Zeb   8 years ago

So, many of them might have voted for Trump, so they deserve to die. Seems legit.

      1. MarkLastname   8 years ago

More likely most of them didn't vote, but I guess that's just as bad to a leftist.

Or you could you just come to H&R and see Sparky say that and more shit that he would never say about blacks or hispanics.

      1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

Hey cutie. I'm not gonna give you any man love for free today. And please don't try to blame me for your utter retardation.

        1. Free Society   8 years ago

I'm retarded because you wish death on white mid-westerners? You literally said they voted for Trump and are stupefying the country and that you hope they all die. I assume then you moved on to another thread to yell at other people for being collectivists, without a hint of irony.

          1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

Thank you for demonstrating your utter stupidity for everyone else. You should have been here yesterday when we were discussing how humor and satire is impossible now. You could have jumped in with Hazel to prove the point. You are so absolutely, mind-numbingly retarded that it's almost impossible to behold. It really is quite shocking. Honestly, I would stuff a corn-studded shit back up my ass if it meant never having to be exposed to your stupidity anymore.

            1. Free Society   8 years ago

Okay so you typed out a whole paragraph to call me stupid and not make any attempt at an argument. You could have done that with a few words

I'll just leave this here and you can go have yourself another grand day snobbery.

Good, those idiots are stupidifying the country and it's better for everyone if they're dead. They're the Reason we have Trump instead of an enlightened thinker.

It would have gotten the point across. And even with the entire paragraph it apparently still hasn't. There is no point in "arguing" with you because the point you think you're making is, as I said, absolutely, mind-numbingly retarded.

Also, thank you for taking the time to link to my previous statements so everyone else can verify your utter cluelessness. Saved me the trouble.

I suspect the real focus of your anger should be being forced to chew the scabs off your mother's putrecent, leathery meat flaps before being allowed to curl up to sleep around the steaming pile of fresh dog shit that is the only source of heat in your basement.

    6. chemjeff   8 years ago

Ya know, I'm kinda tired of being expected to tiptoe around the feelings of people who made poor choices in their lives, and then expect everyone else to bail them out, or blame the gubmint, or society, or what-have-you, for supposedly forcing them to make those poor choices. I don't care if you're a white meth-head or a black crack-head. It is YOUR OWN FAULT that you decided to take up these destructive habits. I will have compassion towards people who are genuinely hurting. But that doesn't mean I have to put up with your bullshit excuses about why you think it's really not your fault. And I am certainly not going to validate your emotional vote for Trump, or Sanders, or whomever, based on feelz alone.

      1. MarkLastname   8 years ago

True, but why is it ok to say what you just said about hillbilly meth heads, but if someone says the same thing (equally true) about inner city poor black people, it's racist?

Having spent more time than I care to admit in the ghetto, I can say that none of the top 20 problems facing that community has anything to do with white privilege.

        1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

why is it ok to say what you just said about hillbilly meth heads, but if someone says the same thing (equally true) about inner city poor black people, it's racist?

This right here is the real problem. And some people even get their panties twisted when you say this about white people. The Race War has no winners.

Keep in mind, the suicide, alcohol, and drug abuse is causing deaths at the level of the AIDS epidemic at its height.

Keep in mind the AIDS epidemic at its height never caused deaths at the level of the AIDS epidemic at its height, either. It wasn't PC to mention there's mostly only a couple of ways to get AIDS and a couple of high-risk groups so the narrative was that we were all equally at risk and projections showed several hundred million AIDS deaths annually by the year 2000. Fortunately, most of us were wiped out by the Y2K bug before the AIDS got us. The unlucky survivors are grimly awaiting the extinction of the species by global warming.

    1. Fascist loofa-faced shitgibbon   8 years ago

One of Trump's underlings should explain to him the double-edged sword metaphor.

Reminds me of Bill Clinton signing legislation that legally empowered women making sex crimes claims only to be bitten on the dick with it later.

Maine could join California and Oregon in allowing hormonal birth-control pills to be sold without a doctor's prescription.

I have a theory that Maine doesn't even really exist. Think about it. Have you ever been there? Do you know anyone who lives there or visited there? Do you know anything about it? Do you even know what it's supposed to be for? Maine doesn't exist.

ENB is a monster who let's child prostitutes get raped and assaulted.

    1. Crusty Juggler - #2   8 years ago

A robust safety net should be our goal. We can argue about the accuracy of statistics and rail against the FBI for doing its job, but children and teens in at-risk and trafficking situations would be better served by our attention to programs to get them off the street and keep them off the street. I find it unconscionable that anyone would advocate abandoning youth and young adults to a life of violence and exploitation.

It's like that woman and I read different articles. Let's hope ENB takes some time away from advocating for teen rape to respond.

      1. Zeb   8 years ago

Criminalizing prostitution has worked so well to eliminate trafficking, it would be insane to try anything else.

And suggesting that the numbers people throw around could be wrong or misleading is exactly the same as raping a 12 year old.

        1. Crusty Juggler - #2   8 years ago

Zeb, the only way to protect those who have resorted to selling their bodies to live is for the FBI to conduct massive stings, and put them in handcuffs, and give them the choice of a rehabilitation program or jail.

      2. Free Society   8 years ago

To be fair, the very article she linked to in her links describes her lastest poster boy as having had actively solicited a 14 year old to join him and the other child for a round of sex. Not to say that ENB doesn't have some point in the abstract, just that she is about as adept at selecting sympathetic victims as the Black Lives Matter people are.

        1. Crusty Juggler - #2   8 years ago

          To be fair

That's not fair. However, even if we go along with your point of view, he was charged with sex trafficking because he paid someone to have sex.

          1. Free Society   8 years ago

That someone is a 14 year old girl. Even if you take his word at face value that he had no idea she was 14, he knew damn well the other girl was 14 and said everything he could to get her in that room too. This is not a sympathetic victim of prostitution laws. This is the kind of guy that is often held up as an example by the pearl-clutchers as the epitome of the sort of "John" that justifies all these bullshit prostitution laws. He's a uniquely awful sympathetic victim for ENB to stake her credibility on.

Even if you take his word at face value that he had no idea she was 14

He did meet the girl on a website, where she claimed she was 18.

You keep on writing about "sympathy." Obviously you have no sympathy for him, which is completely irrelevant. If you think what he did should result in a federal sex trafficking charge, then you are pearl clutching.

He did meet the girl on a website, where she claimed she was 18.

And he met her friend face-to-face who explicitly disclosed that she was 14 and he invited her to the room nonetheless.

You keep on writing about "sympathy." Obviously you have no sympathy for him, which is completely irrelevant. If you think what he did should result in a federal sex trafficking charge, then you are pearl clutching.

I never said a trafficking charge was warranted. As I've already said, that it was or wasn't "child sex trafficking" isn't my point. It was regular ole "child sex" and that's not a hill to die on. If there are tons of relatively decent people getting caught up in the "sex trafficking" craze she ought to be using one of those examples, instead of asking the public to feel bad for a guy that, regardless of the charges against him, likes to fuck kids. And don't tell me he didn't know, he invited one 14 year old whose age he was perfectly aware of to join them. It's evident that he has very few qualms about that sort of thing.

Since this is ostensibly journalism, not a court of law, sympathy is precisely what counts.

        2. AlmightyJB   8 years ago

Yeah, does anyone really feel sorry for Chester except Chester? I sure as he'll don't. That's totally predatory behavior. Hopefully it doesn't escalate when he gets out. Forensic Files had plenty of stories already.

          1. Crusty Juggler - #2   8 years ago

Creepiness - or morally questionable behavior - isn't child sex trafficking.

            1. Free Society   8 years ago

That it isn't child sex "trafficking" isn't the point. Are there no better examples of bullshit trafficking charges to be put on display? If ENB has to hold up this guy as an example, that implies (wrongly) that there aren't tons of basically decent people caught up in this "sex trafficking" fad legislation. She's basically making an argument against her own point.

      2) WTF is the header/background photo? No Johns visible or money overtly changing hands so nothing to lead us to believe there's any prostitution going on. And the blurred faces would seem to suggest that you don't have the subjects consent and/or age. So, presumably, you're either profiting off of or entertained by these girls/women without their consent.

Union Square Manhole Fires Trigger 'Giant Explosion' & Evacuations

Multiple manhole fires and at least one "massive" explosion rocked the area near Union Square shortly before 8 a.m. this morning. The FDNY is currently on the scene, and some buildings are reportedly being evacuated due to high levels of carbon monoxide. East 12th Street is currently closed between Broadway and Fourth Avenue. An FDNY spokesperson said there were no injuries reported, and firefighters are still at the scene.

"Manhole Explosion" was my nickname in college.

The president also floated the idea of changing libel laws

What he tweeted was "Change libel laws?". You know the rule about questions asked like that - the answer is always "No". He's not floating the idea of changing libel laws, he's signaling his approval of keeping them just the way they are.

Maybe. Who knows? "Change libel laws?" isn't even a complete sentence or a complete thought and that's the problem with Trump - the guy seems pathologically averse to ever issuing a coherent statement. But I'm sure that's part of his 7-D wizard chess crap, keeping his enemies guessing as to what his next move might be by always giving a dozen conflicting hints but never anything concrete and useful. I'm sure his persona of a speed freak with ADD is all just an act.

Tom DeLonge defined pop-punk with Blink-182. He left stardom behind to study aliens.

Now 41, DeLonge has found success in his post-punk pursuit. In February, the Arizona-based International UFO Congress, which each year holds the largest convention of UFO investigators in the world, awarded DeLonge its UFO researcher of the year award. In March, DeLonge published a book, "Sekret Machines: Gods, Man, & War," with occult historian Peter Levenda. The book, DeLonge said, marked the first nonfiction entry in a sweeping project that includes science-fiction novels, concept albums and movies.

DeLonge's phenomenon is a grand unified theory of extraterrestrial encounters. It encompasses virtually all aspects of human culture, including religion, technology, media and science. "It is the UFO phenomenon, to be sure, but that is a box too small to contain it in all its glory," DeLonge and Levenda wrote in their new book, "as no two experts can agree on what it is." In "Sekret Machines," a metaphor for the phenomenon emerges: the human experience as cargo cult.

It's like he wants a job working for the Clintons.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spends his first weeks isolated from an anxious bureaucracy

On many days, he blocks out several hours on his schedule as "reading time," when he is cloistered in his office poring over the memos he prefers ahead of in-person meetings.

Most of his interactions are with an insular circle of political aides who are new to the State Department. Many career diplomats say they still have not met him, and some have been instructed not to speak to him directly ? or even make eye contact.

His distant management style has created growing bewilderment among foreign officials who are struggling to understand where the United States stands on key issues. It has sown mistrust among career employees at State, who swap paranoid stories about Tillerson that often turn out to be untrue. And it threatens to undermine the power and reach of the State Department, which has been targeted for a 30 percent funding cut in Trump's budget.

    1. DJF   8 years ago

Maybe the Secretary of State will find out that he does not need most of the people in the State Department and fire a bunch of them.

Looking at the disaster that US foreign policy has been for decades he should fire half of them now and see if things get better.

Same thing at the Pentagon, fire anyone who has used the word "transformational" in a positive way and anyone who thinks the Pentagon knows how to nation build.

The Trump admin needs to randomly shut down one of the 14 "intelligence agencies" per week and see if what's left can do the job, if they can then just fire everyone at the shut down agency and then move on to the next one

1,000 Paid Russian Trolls Spread Fake News On Hillary Clinton, Senate Intelligence Heads Told

"What really concerns me [are reports] there were upwards of 1,000 paid internet trolls working out of a facility in Russia, in effect taking over a series of computers which are then called botnets that can generate news down to specific areas," said Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

'Batgirl' Movie: Joss Whedon to Direct Standalone Film (EXCLUSIVE)

Whedon is nearing a deal to write, direct, and produce an untitled Batgirl pic for Warner Bros. as part of its DC Extended Universe.

I'd swear there was a Marvel heroine movie that I'm confusing Catwoman with but, more to my point, have they not learned that translating conventional women comic book heroes (even rebooted) to feminist movie leads is practically the recipe for producing absolute shit?

                  Yes, yes it does.

      2. Zeb   8 years ago

Well, it's not as if action movies, and especially comic book movies otherwise have highly realistic fight sequences. The stuff that big strong men do to each other in movies like that isn't very plausible either.

Are you kidding? Big, strong men can do anything.

        2. John Titor   8 years ago

Fights in most movies are simultaneously bloody ridiculous and terrible nowadays. It's one of the reasons John Wick was such a breath of fresh air.

The most realistic fight scene ever is probably in Deadwood, and it's really brutal and unpleasant.

          1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

Slightly OT: Broodling #2 (male) got this in a lego surprise pouch and was utterly disgusted.

"Harvard administrators are proposing further sanctions against students who choose to join unrecognized single-sex groups or clubs?including prohibiting them from Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships, leading athletic teams..."

Note the reference to "unrecognized" single-sex groups or clubs. It's all well and good if you are a member of a fully recognized and assimilated single-sex group or club. I'm guessing that one class of the acceptable, recognized single-sex groups would be the athletic teams that you could be banned from for joining unrecognized single-sex groups.

And, seriously though, WTF does that actually mean? If you and your next door neighbor had a treehouse when you were 8 y.o. and posted a sign that said, "No gurlz allowed," does that count (assuming that you haven't formally renounced your membership)? If you and a couple other dudes get together to play poker on Wednesday night, are you a member of a single-sex group?

    1. Rhywun   8 years ago

Yeah, I'm guessing the non-male, non-white groups will be grandfathered in.

This was my kneejerk reaction when I read it. Ever been to a unisex barbershop or salon? Belonged to a Book or Rod and Gun club? A fucking pickup game with the guys or girls' night in/out?

Even if your intention was to bias in favor of women or whatever, the concept still screams "Sue the shit out of us." even for them.
