In Indiana, Zionsville High School will now require all students who take part in extracurricular activities or who park their vehicles at school to submit to random drug testing. Students who fail a drug test will be required to complete drug counseling.

I've been addicted since I was a child. I blame my parents for eating large quantities in front of me. I need the government to protect me by making asparagus available by prescription only.

What does NyQuil do to your pee?

I am enzyme deficient. I metabolize some chemicals at a slower rate which results in elevated excretion in urine. There is something in NyQuil that adds a medicine smell to my pee.

Even if you buy into the war on drugs BS, policies like this seem pretty stupid. All they are going to do is discourage the druggies from participating in activities and sports. Seems to me (again, assuming you buy the idea that afterschool activities are good for keeping people engaged and out of trouble) that these are exactly the people you want to encourage to participate.

But I guess "Drugz R bad" trumps all.

pretty sure the "druggies' weren't all that tuned into activities and sports to begin with...

I wouldn't be so sure. No, probably not the real druggies. But by my senior year of HS, a lot of the jocks, most of the drama queers and many others not fitting the typical "druggie" mold were fairly frequent weed smokers and drinkers.

Hell, I used to build lots of sets for drama/theater stuff and I had a helper whose main job was to go find me some weed.

This was the early to mid 90s, which was a good time for teenage recreational drug use. But I doubt people have changed that much.
