Brickbat: Getting Drilled

The good news is that the Tomah, Wisconsin, Veterans Affairs Medical Center is offering free screenings for hepatitis and HIV to 592 veterans. The bad news is that they are doing this because a VA dentist did not properly clean equipment between patients.

Any news about the VA deciding they should change bandages when a veterans wounds are infected with maggots?
They decided to go all Civil War field hospital on everyone's ass and just hack off the offending appendage.
Maggot therapy is very en vogue in some circles, smart guy.
Yeah, it's great at cleaning out wounds in properly watched instances.
It kind of sucks when it's because the doctors and nurses have better things to do than replacing bandages, or closing a window.
I guess vets really are blood brothers.
Single-payer health care for the win.
I smell more regulations coming! Oh, sorry. I forgot the government only regulates private businesses and not itself.

A brief primer for those who aren't familiar with the VW's other recent misdeeds.
Oops, I mean the VA, I didn't mean to implicate the VW for anything special.
they won for improving test results!
Bitch, you almost me laugh,
What do you expect when the govt orders you to, "Say Ahhhh"?
Sarah Palin will fix it all.
Death panels?
flat panels? solar panels? give us panels or give us death?
It is hard for me to imagine any motive other than contempt in anyone wanting single payer healthcare.
Hubris seems like's a really strong motivator for a lot of people.
I have run into a lot of people like that who, on closer inspection, are making wrecks of their own lives.
Look. Health care is a basic right that every person deserves. When it is provided for a profit, then it is rationed by ability to pay. That isn't fair because that means that poor people don't get any health care, while the rich get all they want. Not only that, but profiting off of basic human rights is immoral. That is why we need single payer. It makes the poor and the rich equal as far as access to health care goes.
It takes profit out of the system. It is powered by good intentions instead of evil profit motives.
So what if the quality goes to shit? So what if the providers are shielded from consequences from their malice and incompetence? So what if care is rationed based upon politics instead of ability to pay? So what if everyone is equally poor instead of unequally rich? It's fair, God fucking dammit! Fairness is all that matters!
having been serviced by 2 single payer systems (Canada & Sweden) I hope you get what you pay for.
But now we are told a living wage is a right. Aren't then profiting off of a right? Is this some paradox?
