Brickbat: Dogged Pursuit

Austin, Texas, police officer Steven Martinez was suspended for three weeks for multiple violations of department rules during the pursuit of a robbery suspect. Martinez drove the wrong way down I-35, drove 79 mph in a 25-mph zone, drove through stop signs and red lights, drove outside his lane and also grabbed the driver's passenger, pushed him to the ground and put his knee in his back and neck after the chase finally ended.

I'm impressed at the driving the wrong way down I-35 part. What time of day did this happen? Because I've been in drive through lines that move faster than I-35 in Austin. For all the shit I give Rick Perry, the Trans-Texas corridor was not one of them. I-35 in Austin is a parking lot for half the day.
Look, first you have a dramatic chase to catch the subsidiary villain, then the Chief chews you out and suspends you, then you go into the abandoned warehouse without backup to capture the boss villain, and then the Chief reinstates you and gives you a medal.
The higher ups just don't like the super cop, until they need him.
Mornin' boys. Obligatory.
Morning straff
One of these days I'll get a "Good Evening". It is 9:40pm after all.
You give a guy a gun, he thinks he's Superman. Give him two guns, he thinks he's God.
You left out the part where Danny Glover says "I'm too old for this shit!"
I'm trying to keep the wierd...

Locked up in Austin
Goddamn, I could totally go for some Migas. You try ordering them at IHOP, they just look at you funny.
Miga, please!
Hmm. Could be misunderstood.
...and also grabbed the driver's passenger, pushed him to the ground and put his knee in his back and neck after the chase finally ended.
All the things Austin would like to do to Martinez after that stunt.
(But with pay, of course.)
I don't see the robbery suspect getting suspended #smh
Ohio Supreme Court looking at officer liability. I believe most large departments in Ohio are now looking at their chase policies.

All that effort and he didn't even get to shoot the suspect.
