Brickbat: No Good Deed

Police in Regina, Saskatchewan, have come up with a nifty way to raise money. They pose an undercover officer as a homeless person next to an intersection holding a sign. When drivers stopped at the intersection try to give him money, they have to take off their seat belts to reach across the seat. A few minutes later, another officer pulls the drivers over and hands each a $175 ticket for a seat belt violation.

Why is this in Brickbats? It's old news, been linked to before at Reason.
Charles is usually good for one or two recycled stories a month, but at least he's punctual, not like some linx posters.
No,Non,No.Here in the states the cops would use this as an excuse to search or drugs and money. Then they can seize the vehicle too. You gotta think big.
One state's highway patrol, when they got short on quota, would pull over some hapless dweeb and order him to take his seatbelt off. Then the trooper would write a seatbelt ticket.
Then the cops wonder why they're hated.
Cops only like it when they unbuckle.
Training hosers not to unbuckle or training them not to feed the homeless? You decide, eh. Either way, next trip to Timmy's is on you.
*tosses Fist of Transience a few loonies & toonies*
There ya go! Should net ya a Kraft Dinner, milk-in-a-bag, and get offa Teh Dole, fer sure. No Timbits for you, lardy arse!
Where's my poutine?
Heroes doing heroes' work.
Thank god we've got them keeping us safe.
That's pretty scummy, eh?

Seems no matter where you are, cops are dicks.
Rats.
And you people continue to praise cops. If cops spent more time serving and less time screwing the public they still might be considered an honorable profession. Cops are in the same league with politicians and mainstream media. They are corrupt and think they are above the law. And like politicians they always want your money.
By you people you mean other people right? There aren't many cop lovers at Reason.
There aren't? You mean this isn't PoliceOne's sister site?
Can't be. I'm still here.
People whine about the "War on Cops." Buddy, if there was a war on cops, you'd know it.
Just don't give money to vagrants. I don't. You're not buying hooch on my dime.
Hmm, in Iowa where I live, the vehicle has to be moving forward for it to be a violation. If you stop, unbuckle, give money, rebuckle, then drive off, that wouldn't be a violation as I read it. Driving backwards unbuckled is also apparently OK.
I wonder if Saskatchewan's law is similar (I couldn't find details online).
Either way, the solution is to have small rocks available to throw.
nice post thanks admin
