In Georgia, an attorney for a 16-year-old student at Greene County High School is calling for the firing of a teacher who was recorded calling the student "the dumbest girl that I have ever met." Teacher Cory Hunter also said to the girl "You know what your purpose gonna be? To have sex and have children because you ain't never gonna be smart."

The teacher sounds pretty dumb in his own right.

That is exactly what he did say.

I am going to posit that in schools where the majority of female students have a father at home this kind of shit happens much less frequently. A year after I graduated the principle at my high school got his ass whipped for pulling belittling the girls on the dance line. In my junior year one of the teachers was fired some some similar antics.

We had an English teacher in Jr. High who was infamous for breaking down every so often and ranting about how 8th graders were sub-human. 7th graders were new, scared and OK. 9th graders had started to mature back into humans, but 8th graders were the lowest of the low.

None of us kids cared much, but it was a general rebuke of an entire class. Not anyone in particular.

The article indicates that the girl was having eye trouble and was having surgery for it, so couldn't read the notes, which is why she was recording.

Realistically, though, it would be better if she simply realized that she's surrounded by assholes and learn how to deal with it and shrug it off. It's not as if she deserves this kind of treatment, just that allowing assholes to control your happiness is a bad strategy.
