Louisiana Police Kill Six-Year-Old at End of Car Chase
Were chasing his father, who rammed into a police car.

A police pursuit in Marskville, Louisiana, ended last night with police firing into the car of Chris Few, injuring Few but killing the six-year-old in the passenger seat, Jeremy David Mardis, believed to be Few's son.
The Town Talk reports:
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on Martin Luther King Drive. State Police's preliminary investigation found that city marshals from Ward 2 were pursuing a man and "discharged their duty weapons, at a vehicle, at the conclusion of a pursuit.
The driver was critically wounded, and a 6-year-old passenger was pronounced dead. The release doesn't include specific information on the incident, but sources tell The Town Talk that the man had tried to ram a police vehicle and that the child was his son.
It's unclear whether Few allegedly trying to ram into a police vehicle was the impetus for the initial chase or the shooting. No other information on why police were pursuing Few has been made available.
Authorities could decide to charge Few for the killing of the boy, even though they believe all the shots were fired by city marshals, because of a legal theory that places the liability for damage and death caused by police officers during a pursuit or other police action on the target of that action.
According to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IAC), about half of police departments around the country require a pursuit to end when police have identified the suspect, while a fifth of departments only permit pursuits of felony offenders. Most departments also require permission and oversight of a chase by a supervisor not on scene. The IACP has also reportedly found no evidence that such "limited-pursuit" policies cause more people to flee police.
Whether or not the killing of six-year-old Jeremy David Mardis will attract national coverage, the issue of pursuit policy in Marskville and in Louisiana are likely to be a focus of some of the coverage the killing and its aftermath does get.
City marshals have asked the Louisiana State Police to come in and investigate the shooting.

Authorities could decide to charge Few for the killing of the boy...
Oh, I guarantee that will happen. They'll need to offload any responsibility for killing a child.
Look, if you don't want to get murdered, you shouldn't have a scumbag for a dad.
+1 Jay Carney
Well, waddayaknow, turns out the scumbags are the cops and they didn't even have a warrant.
I'm trying to think of things that would suck more than being charged with the murder of your child because you convinced the cops to shoot at you
Jesus. So many nutpunches today mine have receded into my body and are crying for help.
They fucking murdered a 6 year old, and nothing else is going to happen.
Mine too. Is this the ghost of Balko?
Did Few "ram a police car," or did he "clip a police car while trying to escape"?
Or did the officer lazily roll his car in front of Few's coasting vehicle and use that excuse to get in some target practice?
My money's on this.
Do you think it matters? Everyone will be cleared and we will never hear of it again.
That remains to be seen. A dead 6-year-old might be a tough one for all but the most dedicated LEO cheerleaders to accept.
I don't know. They burned off a child's face in Georgia and a huge proportion of bootlickers didn't even flinch.
And when Ayana Stanley Jones was murdered by a cop in Detroit, they blamed the grandmother.
Babies really need to be choosier about their associates, IMO.
His parents his family someone staying in that house an informant claimed the house was being used to make meth, so the kid had it coming.
Tossing a flashbang grenade into a place you suspect of being a meth lab full of explosive materials is just sound tactics, really.
Sorry, Fist, but FS is right. If the Bou Bou incident wasn't the tipping point, we'll never reach that.
Oh we'll hear the obligatory "cops are parents too" but ultimately all blame will shift to the father, removing any and all blame from police for reasonable or unreasonable actions.
So ramming a police car is grounds for killing 6 year old kids? How the fuck can even the most hardcore cop bootlicker justify something like this?
If that six-year old didn't want to die he wouldn't have gotten into the car in the first place!
Head on over to Hot Air, I'm sure Jazz Shaw will provide justification - once he gets the cop cock out of his mouth.
Didn't he go to Switzerland and pay a bunch of money to get another mouth added to his head so that he never has to remove the cop cock for any reason?
Look, that kid could have been a kidnapping victim, do you want kidnappers to get away with kidnapping?
^this.
sometimes you have to destroy the village in order to save it.
It's unclear whether Few allegedly trying to ram into a police vehicle was the impetus for the initial chase or the shooting.
Someone remind me, because I'm having trouble remembering, if a private citizen shot at a driver who allegedly attempted to run him down, and struck and killed the passenger instead, would the state rush to exonerate the shooter for defending himself?
Hahahaha.
It's just mysterious to me that L&O-type citizens accept statements from cops that would be used at trial against anyone else. I get why police and their cronies in the DAs push that narrative, but you'd think the voting public would take issue with their supposedly professional LEOs firing haphazardly at a car on such a flimsy pretext.
Maybe this story gets some traction. It's difficult even for cocksucking apologists to explain away a six-year-old's murder at the hands of panicky cops.
You don't understand! The driver of the car forced the cops to shoot! They had no other choice! And they felt really bad after they discovered that they killed a child! They are the only victims here! Those poor police officers! Send the driver to the chair!
What confuses me is that "being a police officer is a dangerous job" is something I commonly hear.
I mean.....Maybe we should stop forcing people to be police officers so they wouldn't be in such a dangerous position in the first place.
From the comic Goblins, which is fantastic.
Chief: Why would anyone want to become a paladin?
Big Ears: So others don't have to.
This is how they think of themselves, I'm sure, too.
LOL!
More info: "The shooting was reported to 911 at 9:38 p.m. at the corner of MLK and Taensas Street near Preston Street in Marksville. Few, allegedly, was trying run from police. Officers corner Few but Few then put the car in reverse hitting the police unit. The officers got out of their unit an allegedly starting shooting with their police issued firearms (pistols) through the driver's window striking but Mardis and Few."

Were they looking at where they were shooting? Because if they were shooting from behind, they had to have seen that there was a kid in the car.
"but Mardis" is a mistake in the report, it should read "Jeremy Mardis," who was the six year old.
So they cornered him and killed him for trying to escape. Great. That's cleared up.
I'm sure the news media is leaving out the part of the story where Few yelled "RAMMING SPEED" before throwing his car into reverse and flooring it.
Did you yell "America" when you hit the accelerator?
I usually do. You know, at stop signs, red lights, whatever -- even if I am only getting up to 25. It is pretty invigorating.
More info: "Chris Few is in critical condition after he fled in his car, central Louisiana authorities said, adding that police were attempting to serve Few a warrant."

Oh well, in that case, the cops should have just nuked the city from space. They're way too lenient these days.
Warrant for what? What were the King's Men enforcing? Unpaid traffic fines? Peddling teh durgs? Sodomy? Child porn? This seems important.
Ok, now I'm just depressed.
legal theory that places the liability for damage and death caused by police officers during a pursuit or other police action on the target of that action.
Oh right, I always forget about that one. That's the legal theory that literally takes restraint out of the equation for police officers.
Whether or not the killing of six-year-old Jeremy David Mardis will attract national coverage,
Was he black?
Martin Luther King Drive. That puts the odds pretty well in favor of it.
"You know what's sad? Martin Luther King stood for non violence. And I don't care where you are in America, if you're on Martin Luther King Boulevard, there's some violence going down. Ain't the safest place to be."
Based on the photo here, he was white.
Well then, story over, nothing more to see here, move on.
Iffen he was white and on MLK there is no other possible reason than he was droppin off a load of the crack for the darkies to sell.
And from the headline, autistic as well, which should be good for like +10 victim sympathy
I'm confused about how outrage is supposed to work now.
Pretty white girls get the most attention when they are killed or kidnapped by non-police. Blacks in their late teens get attention and outrage when killed by police. But not when killed by other young black people. Black kids getting murdered by police for no good reason at all is apparently less of a big deal for some reason.
So I have no idea what happens when a young kid of indeterminate race gets killed by police next to his possibly criminal father.
L&O conservatives will blame the father and excuse the cops' behavior. Lefties have no angle from which to racialize the incident, so they'll ignore it, too. And both can go fuck each other with baseball bats.
Pretty much this.
I agree except for one thing. Cattle prods, not baseball bats.
And libertarians will take a brief brake from fellating the king's men in black robes to sob some crocodile tears. Then back to work the king's men can't service themselves.
...you keep using these words. I don't think they mean what you think they mean.
Or maybe your definition of "libertarian," "fellating," and "king's men" are just vastly different than the way the rest of the universe uses them.
You forget brake.
I don't think brake means what he thinks it does either.

Not everyone has the wherewithal to make self-righteous internet comments, which, I gather, is the only thing you're going to do about this.
And what are you going to do about it, shitstain? Libertarians have pushed the hardest and longest to hold the police accountable for their actions.
Social conservatives get riled up with the pretty white girls, because they see their daughters being defiled by dark (racist!) forces beyond their control. Plus, the crowd that gets riled is more the Nancy Grace crowd, not so much the NPR crowd.
Any killing can generate outrage, but the outrage can come from different sectors.
One outrages the AM talk radio set, the other outrages CNN, the New York Times and Salon.
I'm waiting for the day when a pretty white girl feminist policewoman guns down a completely innocent black trans-gendered undocumented immigrant. There will be a chain-reaction head explosion epidemic among both the Left and the Right. Or so we can hope.
No, you seem to understand it just fine. The problem is that you want it to make sense.
That's the confused part.
Of course, the real depressing part will be a-holes like David French using the 'he tried to ram the cops and didn't obey' angle to justify them opening fire and killing a kid in the process.
Jesus me.
May the kid rest in peace.
#SixYearOldsLivesMatter?
Am I doing it right?
*five minutes pass*
"Looks good to me."
What's the fun in killing someone if you can't brag about it to your peers?
Not if the kid was black and the officer(s) who murdered him white. Then it'll be all about race, and any actual policy fixes will be all but ignored. In fact, even bringing up any issue other than RACIST COPZ will be considered a form of racism itself.
How about bringing up gun control for cops? That's my issue of late. I'm not really for gun control except when it makes it difficult only for cops to have guns. They have proven pretty clearly that they can't handle that kind of responsibility.
If you are any kind of anti-gun control advocate, you already know guns don't kill people. Gun control for cops does nothing to fix what happened to Eric Garner or Freddie Gray and I'm dubious as to how more meaningless hurdles would help a situation like Bou Bou Phonesavanh's where, explicitly, procedures were followed and would be again.
Not to mention that clearly defining the 2A line between the officer of the state and the subject of the state is going to carry all kinds of unintended consequences.
Now I really wish Officer Gliniewicz had lived. If only to show these officers how to fall on their swords appropriately. Seriously, 5-figures in embezzled money would almost be a wash at that point.
My not quite 2 year old came home from daycare witha "police are your friend"coloring book. I picked it up off the counter and tossed it in the trash. My wife gave me the look she reserves for when I'm on my "outside the herd" behavior. But she didn't say anything. I'm not having that bullshit propaganda around my kids.
Good for you.
I told mine early on in no uncertain terms that avoiding the police is always a good idea.
"Every situation is made infinitely worse by the arrival of a policeman" - Mark Twain.
I am teaching my kids, 6, 4, 2, 7mo, to know that the police are dangerous and you don't ever engage them unless necessary. And "necessary" means "The situation is so bad that risking you family's life is worth it."
Is risking your family's life ever not worth it?
Asking for a friend.
everyone is a felon these days so chase them all.
The suspect moved his vehicle toward the officer in a threatening manner, causing the officers's weapons to discharge and make non-survivable contact with the male passenger. Procedures were followed.

Huh. First I am hearing of this. I know the town well. This will probably start a shitstorm.
I don't know the sheriff in Avoyelles, but this is the kind of shit that gets sheriffs out of office in Louisiana. I don't know the Few family but if there are very many of them or if they are well liked Doug Anderson is in trouble.
I am pointing at the sheriff because in Louisiana every LEO in a given parish is under the sheriff save the state police. Being the chief LEO over departments that you have little control over (city marshals) has its drawbacks.
I should add that the state police are dependent on the sheriff for jail facilities and the district judge for courts. The district judges are state officials but locally elected and pretty deeply in bed with the sheriff.
In louisiana the sheriff's office is the most powerful office in the state.
I make up to $90 an hour working from my home. My story is that I quit working at Walmart to work online and with a little effort I easily bring in around $40h to $86h? Someone was good to me by sharing this link with me, so now i am hoping i could help someone else out there by sharing this link... Try it, you won't regret it!......
