The city of Toronto provided a $1.7 million subsidy to the Abode of Peace building to provide affordable housing. But when Austin Lewis, who uses a wheelchair, applied for a unit there he was removed from the waiting list because he isn't a Muslim. In fact, the city subsidizes housing to a number of buildings that are restricted to members of certain religions or ethnic groups.
