UN: Syria Peace Talks to Start in January in Geneva
Government, rebels to participate
The Syrian government and opposition groups will hold peace talks early next year, the first time the parties will convene for negotiations since the beginning of the conflict in Syria that has left tens of thousands dead and displaced millions from their homes.
The development was announced Monday by the United Nations. The international body will sponsor the talks to be held in Geneva on January 22, 2014
