Brickbat: Big Pink
Raynah Adams, principal of Maryland's Friendly High School, warned students not to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness because it would violate the school's uniform policy. When about one fifth of the students held a "Pink Out" anyway, the school forced many of them to change clothes. And when officials ran out of clothes for them to change into, they gave the rest of the students, about 75 in all, in-school suspension.

There is no place in schools for gang colours
Maryland is a statist hellhole. Has been all my life.
are we meant to infer a causal nexus?
Nah, it was like that when I lived there back in the '50s, '60s, and '70s.
Just remember, when Spiro Agnew ran for governor, he was the *liberal* candidate. And that Nancy Pelosi is from the most "connected" family in Baltimore.
No student should ever be allowed to express an opinion.
Especially one controversial like: "Breast cancer is 'bad'"
If students are allowed to believe they have a right to free speech, there is a danger they could become adults with the same dangerous belief system.
They can express opinions all they want; they just can't wear pink, because that's just gross.
I was hoping the brickbat would be that the school was trying to "encourage" people to wear pink, and punished people who refused to do so and/or actively encouraged others not to wear pink.
...they gave the rest of the students, about 75 in all, in-school suspension.
Ironic punishments are the ones that sink in. They should have given all the little brats breast cancer.
Sounds like some pretty serious business.

Home school.

Yup. Reason number 1,211 not to send your kid to a state-run institution.
We homeschool; I gave my students an "in school suspension" for getting on my dang nerves.
"All RIGHT! Everybody TO YOUR ROOMS, PRONTO!!!!"
"AND TURN THAT FLIPPIN' WII OFF!!"
You need to hang your head out the window and start screaming so the whole neighborhood can hear "Johnny! Stop playing with your Wii! You can't do that all day or you'll never get a girlfriend!"
Way to teach students to care about the world around them.
The school unintentionally taught the students a valuable lesson about how idiots gravitate towards positions of authority.
Way to stick up for breast cancer, Friendly High.
Up next is a field trip to tear down houses built by Habitat for Humanity.
In school suspension? Huh?
It means they stick you in study hall for the school day.
So you get the day off?
