Local Authorities: Israeli Soldiers Shoot and Kill Palestinian in West Bank Town
IDF investigating reports of a fatality, say troops were making arrests and had rocks thrown them on the way out
Israeli soldiers shot and killed a 22-year-old Palestinian during confrontations early Thursday in the northern West Bank village of Qabatya, according to the town's mayor and a local hospital.
Mayor Ali Zakarneh said troops entered the town very early in the morning to arrest local residents, and on their way out four hours later young Palestinians blocked the roads with rocks and tires and threw stones at the soldiers.
The soldiers fired back rubber bullets and tear gas and at one point also fired live bullets, killing Ahmad Tazazaa, the mayor said.
