Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Get Their Own Coat of Arms
With acorns and lions
Some couples buy matching outfits. Royal couples get matching heraldry.
Britain's College of Arms said Friday that Prince William and his wife Kate have been awarded a joint logo which will represent them as a couple "in heraldic terms."
The conjugal coat unites William's busy royal shield — replete with English and Scottish lions (and a harp to symbolize Ireland) — with Kate's more understated red-and-blue shield marked by a chevron and three acorns.
