Ontario recently announced that it would allow local police forces to decide which officers can carry and use Tasers, after reviewing data that suggests their use results in “fewer significant injuries” to police and the public

    Officer safety is paramount.

    1. Steve G   12 years ago

yeah, clearly the officer made the right call. No way he could have subdued her with his index finger and thumb or anything

  2. Fatty Bolger   12 years ago

Their preliminary information indicates that Peel Regional Police had received calls about a woman walking along the road.

Is this considered a serious crime in Canada?

Ontario recently announced that it would allow local police forces to decide which officers can carry and use Tasers

    They chose…poorly.

    1. Live Free or Diet   12 years ago

a woman walking along the road.
Is this considered a serious crime in Canada?

So Canada loves them some law and order, eh? She probably didn’t pay her hydro.

    2. Doctor Whom   12 years ago

We can’t let old women just go out and walk along any road they feel like walking along. Just because anarchists have taken over Congress, that doesn’t mean they get to take over Ontario, too.

  3. Copernicus   12 years ago

    I have reached an analogy:

violence is to cops as blue balls is to normal men…

If enough time goes by with “getting some”, you will fuck up just about anyone.

Solution: At least one/week, these balls in blue need to get in the Octagon and jack each other off.

    1. Zombie Jimbo   12 years ago

That is a fine idea. Assistant DA’s can clean up the octagon afterwards.

    2. JeremyR   12 years ago

But those would be fair fights.

They need someone they can beat up and bully, not simply fight…

      1. Copernicus   12 years ago

Aren’t there some popo wimmin they can practice on?

  4. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

The SIU said that police spoke with the woman and “at some point” a Taser was deployed and the woman fell to the ground.

Oh passive voice, what would the police do without you?

    1. Copernicus   12 years ago

      An LE Haiku (passive voice)

      Someone resisted.
Shots were fired. Persons were hit.
      Procedures followed.

      1. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

There once was a cop from Ontoket
Who kept a Taser in his pocket
        Just a stunny stun stun
        With his ‘lectricity gun
And his cock shot off like a rocket

        1. Swiss Servator - Gnome Slave   12 years ago

*rises to applaud Copernicus and Snark*

      3. Rich   12 years ago

        On the ground, mofo.
        Resisting arrest, I see.
        Current events, now.

  5. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

Bob Dylan was arrested a few years ago for walking around, but not tased. Which is probably a good thing. Probably.

    This is worth a read

    1. JeremyR   12 years ago

I would not object much of Bruce Springsteen got tasered.

      Or Bon Jovi.

      1. Live Free or Diet   12 years ago

        The whole band?

      2. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

        They are the same person!

          THANK YOU

          1. KDN   12 years ago

Wait, seriously? THEY’RE NOT EVEN FROM THE SAME COUNTY!

Also, JBJ is a much bigger douche. And at least Springsteen sticks to what he’s good at rather than horrible country/rock fusion. God I hate Bon Jovi.

      3. sarcasmic   12 years ago

What about Tom Petty and the Fart Knockers?

    2. Steve G   12 years ago

Hmmm, read it twice and still couldn’t find the part about Dylan being arrested. Perhaps my outrage meter isn’t as finely calibrated as the author’s.

      1. KDN   12 years ago

It wasn’t a real arrest. They just asked him to stop looking at the enormous, fancy houses, and implied arrest if he couldn’t prove he belonged in town.

This is typical shit in upper class NJ towns. Cops have nothing better to do, there’s a ton of them, and they’re just looking for ways to not be bored.

  6. Rich   12 years ago

using a Taser on an 80-year-old woman, causing her to fall and break her hip.

Come on. Everyone knows old women break their hips, *then* fall.

Serious question: Does training in the use of conductive energy weapons (CEWs) involve the officer having the experience of being Tased?

    1. Rich   12 years ago

Two Madison, FL trainees “ride the lightning”

  7. UnCivilServant   12 years ago

I still want to go with Fully Disarmed cops and fully armed citizens. Maybe then we can get some feigned respect. (I don’t expect real respect given the people we’re talking about).

    1. Live Free or Diet   12 years ago

Ladies and Gents, UCS has given me a vision, and here’s the sudio:

“You! With the badge! On the ground! Now!”

On the bright side, it’s 8:25 AM and the Friday “Funnies” still hasn’t shown up.

    1. Lord Humungus   12 years ago

I’m sure it will time stamped from the past.

    2. Swiss Servator - Gnome Slave   12 years ago

Oddly enough, I am NOT experiencing Bok withdrawl or Delirium Paynums, now that you mention it.

    3. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

Friday Funnies has been replaced by the top 100 polls by Emily, posted individually.

      1. Ted S.   12 years ago

Is that really any worse than the other posters continually flogging their latest book?

    4. crashland   12 years ago

I thought this was the Friday funny. Come on, nobody would taser grandma, that’s ridiculous.

  9. sarcasmic   12 years ago

Tasing an 80yr old woman? So manly! *swoon*

      1. VG Zaytsev   12 years ago

…a shrinking Fed balance sheet …

        HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA

        1. fish   12 years ago

Wow….Yahoo Finance…..damn shreek I’m sorry I doubted your financial prowess….you really are an “insider”.

        2. Rich   12 years ago

Don’t be so smug, VG. Every time someone handles that piece of paper some more rubs off.

        3. A Secret Band of Robbers   12 years ago

Assume that the Fed is going to stop printing money, and that the rupee stays in the shitter for 3 years, and maybe $650 isn’t a crazy target. But I have no idea why you would put money on either of those assumptions.

    2. sarcasmic   12 years ago

      BOOOOOOOSH!

    3. Rich   12 years ago

At the moment, positive economic data such as unemployment are perceived to be negative for gold.

“At the moment”? So, economic “laws” are time-dependent?

    1. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

      I blame Kurt.

  13. Greg   12 years ago

When this story first came out “sources” said that the 80 year old woman was chasing her husband down the street with a meat cleaver, then it was downgraded to a bread knife, and then finally the woman’s daughter pointed out that her father had been dead for 12 years and her mother lived alone. But procedures were followed, don’t worry.

  14. Paul.   12 years ago

Why didn’t they just shoot her?

    1. Robert   12 years ago

      Not as good muscle jerking.

  15. Swiss Servator - Gnome Slave   12 years ago

Anonybot, we don’t know if she was inked up or not!

  16. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

i thought she had a “Tase me” tramp stamp

  17. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

    “Tase me, bro”
