Athens, Georgia Tea Party Still Owes Speakers $65,000 for First Convention
Including Gary Johnson and Ben Swann
The Athens-Clarke County Tea Party Patriots will hold a series of fundraising events, both internally and in the community, to raise the tens of thousands of dollars the organization owes to speakers for its first Liberty Convention, the group's young founder said Saturday.
Keyantwon Stephens, who also serves as the local tea party organization's chairman, said the speakers, who included investigative reporter Ben Swann and 2012 Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson, are owed approximately $65,000. He claimed Saturday to have been in touch with management personnel associated with Swann and Johnson, and further claimed to have their support for the payment plan.
