Aung San Suu Kyi Wants to Run for President of Myanmar
Burma's most famous former political prisoner
Myanmar democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi said on Thursday that she will run for president and will work for the constitution to be amended to allow her to do so.
Crafted by the military junta, the constitution blocks anyone whose spouses or children are overseas citizens from running for leadership of the country.
For the Myanmar opposition leader to be elected as president, the constitution will have to be amended.
