Attn, LA Reasonoids: Watch Kennedy and UCLA's Tim Taylor Talk "The Sounds of Capitalism" Fri, 4/26
What does capitalism sound like? Maybe like the cash register at the beginning of Pink Floyd's song "Money"? Or maybe like the sound of Led Zeppelin cranking up as a Cadillac zooms across your screen. Whatever the tune, the line between popular songs and commercial songs has blurred as music has become a powerful tool in selling products to a mass audience.
Join Reason.tv's own Kennedy for a lively and fun walk through the history of jingles, earworms, and great songs at a live taping with UCLA ethnomusicologist Tim Taylor as they chat about his new book, The Sounds of Capitalism: Advertising, Music, and the Conquest of Culture.

deliberate. Provocation.
yes.
I never realized Kennedy had such a cute body, assuming that is her and not a photoshop.
The absence of a neck should tip you off, John.
Yes it should.
I admit, this made me laugh.
Not necessarily. It looks like her shoulders are hunched upward, which could make it appear as though there's no neck. I think the bigger clue that it's photshop is the odd angle of the head and the fact that it just plain doesn't quite look right.
Does the real Kennedy have a tattoo like the one in the picture?
She does in other pictures:

The angles of the head and body, as well as the difference in skin tone, suggest photoshop. Sadly.
And the total absence of any cellulite. Even thin women get some of that after they turn 30 or sometimes younger.
You don't really have a filter, do you?
No he does not.
It looks photoshopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few 'shops in my time...
That said, I still think Kennedy is hot in a Naughty Librarian kinda way.
I am going to go ahead and believe it. She looks so hot.
I perused the larger image at Amazon.com. Looks like the real deal. 🙂
I just hope Matt and Nick don't get any bright ideas for the cover of their next book.
DON'T GO THERE!
What? Did you think Nick was wearing a jacket in all those appearances?
Who will be riding who?
Who will be riding who?
Asked Sarcasmic as he slid his hand into the band of his sweat pants.
(Sorry Sarc, the setup was just too good. I couldn't help myself.)
I was just thinking that the Jacket could carry the Horn Rims all day, but the Horn Rims wouldn't last long with the swarthy Jacket on it's back.
Jacket vs Horn Rims=no contest.
A better question would be which would prevail in a fight between the Jacket and Stossel's 'Stache ?
What you're missing is that these items, combined with others yet to be discovered, make up the complete set of Reason armor that will be found in the upcoming RPG.
It's frankly shocking that there are no famous-photographer pics of me naked on a donkey in the early '90s....
They are apparently all in the hands of private collectors.
Who doesn't have a naked donkey pic or two from their youth Matt?
"famous photographer" eh? Did he tell you that before or after he convinced you to go to his "studio" in TJ?
Matt ain't gonna lie to ya, he busted a nut in the donkey.
Well, not that you know of. My demands are in the mail. Wouldn't want your wife to see this, now would we, Matt?
We have the long hair picture, Matt. That's really all we need to indict.
Damn.
Has anyone on the Reason staff not written a book?
They work for a publication that's part of a foundation which exists solely to produce libertarian and free-market literature. I suspect "we'll publish your books" is part of the recruitment pitch.
Godfrey Daniel!
