Hey, the economy is going up! Not bad for an amateur, Mr. President.

    1. CampingInYourPark   12 years ago

“Hiring slowed sharply in March, with the economy adding only 88,000 jobs, the lowest monthly gain since last June.
The unemployment rate slipped to 7.6%, according to a Labor Department report released Friday. But it’s not good news: It’s because nearly 500,000 people dropped out of the labor market.”

      http://money.cnn.com/2013/04/0…..bs-report/

      1. Fist of Etiquette   12 years ago

That’s not what the cartoon shows. Open your eyes.

        1. Loki   12 years ago

Yeah, “Camping”, if that is your real name, what are you gonna believe: a bunch of racist statistics, your own lying racist eyes or this symbolic cartoon?

      2. Ted S.   12 years ago

        That’s unexpected.

  2. Almanian!   12 years ago

    1) Showing a black person playing basketball = RACIST
    2) Showing a black person being BAD at basketball = FANTASY
    3) Comment #2 = RACIST
    4) Why does the backboard have a giant bird poop splashed across it? Why is he playing with a bent up rim? Why is he shooting a kickball instead of a basketball? Are you implying he’s POOR because he’s BLACK? RACIST.

    Overall Score: RACIST

    Plus: Needs more labels.

    1. Best Of All Possible Tyrannies   12 years ago

      4) Why does the backboard have a giant bird poop splashed across it?

I thought the backboard glass was broken from throwing all those bricks.

      1. gaijin   12 years ago

It’s from him hanging on the rim when he made his 2 shots. Also, I read your name as Best Of All Possible Trannies. I must have issues to work out.

        1. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

I just googled “Best Of All Possible Trannies” images. That’ll teach me.

          1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

Jeez, why didn’t you just add a search for “Sugarfree’s dungeon” while you were at it?!

            1. Restoras   12 years ago

I don’t understand what the backboard is supposed to represent without a label on it.

            2. Longtorso   12 years ago

Jeez, why didn’t you just add a search for “Sugarfree’s dungeon” while you were at it?!

I did, and now Google says I’m on a government list.

      2. $park?   12 years ago

        Broken window backboard. STIMULUS!

        1. a better weapon   12 years ago

          +1

        2. alan_s   12 years ago

I think I’m starting to grasp the full meaning of this comic. If only he had labeled that on the backboard in the first place.

    2. generic Brand   12 years ago

I like how you are the second comment, thus racist.

  3. Best Of All Possible Tyrannies   12 years ago

No, the economy is not rebounding.

    1. Auric Demonocles   12 years ago

A rebound is when a player grabs the ball after a missed shot. The player is the one performing the act, and since no one is doing that, the economy has not been rebounded in the picture.

  4. TheSpiteHouse   12 years ago

Wait, what does the broken backboard represent the inferior quality of Chinese-made goods?

    1. some guy   12 years ago

No it represents the creation of jobs. (Think windows)

      1. Question of Auban   12 years ago

Is this cartoon a commentary on Bastiat’s discussion of the Broken Window Fallacy?

  5. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

what’s with the fascist salute with the left arm?

    1. Capt Ace Rimmer   12 years ago

Notice the 1# jersey. Megalomaniac dig?

  6. some guy   12 years ago

Alright Reason. Seriously. How much do you pay Payne for these panels? Because if it’s more than the cost of a used stick of gum you’re getting ripped off.

    1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

      Wait..Reason pays Payne?!

      1. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

I don’t believe it. He pays Reason, which needs the cash for its new palace

        1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

          That is waaaaay more believable.

    2. alan_s   12 years ago

If it wasn’t for Payne, we wouldn’t have all of the Friday morning comments on his comic to look forward to.

  7. Ted S.   12 years ago

Shouldn’t Obama have a bunch of sycophants around him telling how well he’s shooting the ball?

    1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

Kruggie in a referee outfit, signalling two points?

      1. Restoras   12 years ago

        No – 4 points!

        1. Longtorso   12 years ago

          No – 4 points!

          Multiplier!!!!

      2. invisible furry hand   12 years ago

he’s wearing a gimp suit, trying to sing Obama’s praise through the ball-gag

        1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

Gee thanks for that…I will go and quietly dry heave in a corner somewhere. Back in a little while.

  8. Question of Auban   12 years ago

There is a classic Onion article which has great relevance to this cartoon:

Congress Passes Americans With No Abilities Act

    http://www.theonion.com/articl…..s-act,541/

    1. Mainer2   12 years ago

Holy Shite…is that Reid, Feinstein, and Kerry in that pic of Clinton ?
Exactly how long have those idiots been in Washington ?

  9. gaijin   12 years ago

Shouldn’t there be a republican getting called for goaltending?

    1. LTC(ret) John   12 years ago

      +1

  10. $park?   12 years ago

Why is there a big CLANG! next to the Economy? Are you trying to say the Chinese own the economy?

  11. Longtorso   12 years ago

    Bonus Payne via Instapundit.

  12. Rich   12 years ago

Henry missed a chance to have Obama pulling a Kevin Ware, with the leg labeled “President’s Budget”.

    1. Restoras   12 years ago

      Oh snap!

      1. $park?   12 years ago

        And boom goes the tibia!

  13. hamilton   12 years ago

Wait, who’s the guy shooting the ball?

  14. SumpTump   12 years ago

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me dude.

    http://www.Anon-ISP.tk

  15. Tim   12 years ago

If Obama had his way, NBA hoops would be four feet off the ground and ten feet in diameter.

    1. db   12 years ago

If I had my way, basketball would be inverted:

The basket would be a ring 3′ in diameter, 20′ upin the air, that players would have to throw the ball up through. There would be a backboard below and above the ring, and points would only be scored if the ball was caught after passing upward through the ring, in bounds, by a member of the shooting team.

And checking in the vicinity of the goal would be allowed.

  16. Restoras   12 years ago

    WARNING – TROLL ALERT

The jobs print was horrific. 88K (half what is required just to keep up with population growth) and 500,000 left the workforce. European markets, weak before the print, are falling further.

If Shreek!! bothers to show his head today he’ll be spinning like a gyroscope.

    1. CampingInYourPark   12 years ago

But the S&P index is at an all time high!

    2. Mike M.   12 years ago

“Dow Jones! Dow Jones! Dow Jones!!”

      -Shrieking Idiot

    3. db   12 years ago

If you push him down he’ll deflect to the right?

    4. CampingInYourPark   12 years ago

      Oh…I found the scapegoat:

“Stock index futures sharply extended losses on Friday after data showed American employers hired at the slowest pace in nine months in March, a sign that Washington’s austerity drive could be stealing momentum from the economy.”

      http://finance.yahoo.com/news/…..38153.html

      Austerity is to blame!

      1. Loki   12 years ago

        Gee, what a surprise…

Any bad economic news is going to be balmed on AWESTERITY!!!!/ SEKWESTER!!!111!!, which is all the fault of those EVUL RETHUGLICANS (even though Obama signed to bill) for the foreseeable future. It would be funny if weren’t so utterly predictable, and if so many people weren’t going to buy the bullshit.

        1. Ted S.   12 years ago

The local TV news was busy finding sob stories from the Watervliet Arsenal because of furloughs that aren’t supposed to go into effect for I think three months yet.

All these goddamn government workers whining about the difficulty of paying their bills had me yelling at the TV that they need to think about the difficulty regular people are having paying their taxes.

  17. The Late P Brooks   12 years ago

I hope that’s not a high capacity basketball reloading device in the background. And it had better not have a thing that goes up.

    It should have been labeled.

  18. General Butt Naked   12 years ago

    Another friday morning ruined.

    Thanks hank, you fuck.

    Jesus.

    1. Ted S.   12 years ago

I visit reason with only cached images set to load.

I don’t have to see Henry Payne’s ?uvre unless I actively choose to.

  19. John Galt   12 years ago

Sigh. I can’t even laugh anymore.

  20. Auric Demonocles   12 years ago

Needs more labels. And alt-text is really just the best kind of label.

  21. Proprietist   12 years ago

Obama is the ultimate flopper, and the press are the gullible referees.

  22. plusafdotcom   12 years ago

… and that would be on a GOOD day… so sad…

  23. lenaheadey572   12 years ago
