Oberlin, Dealing with Real-Life Bigoted Trolling, Does Exactly the Wrong Thing
Feeds moron's ego by cancelling classes and having "Day of Solidarity"

Famously liberal Oberlin College in Ohio is dealing with some bigoted incidents of racist and homophobic vandalism mysteriously appearing on campus. (Trigger warning: The linked timeline from college newspaper The Oberlin Review starts with a "trigger warning" about hate speech language.)
Whoever (if it's only one person) is responsible is obviously a massive tool (especially if it's a fraud, because really, how many racists hang out at Oberlin?). Today's response to another incident, as noted this morning at Reason 24/7, is just stupid. Via New York Magazine:
Oberlin College in Ohio canceled classes today in favor of "A Day of Solidarity" after someone in a KKK-style hood and robe was spotted near the school's Afrikan Heritage House, the latest in a string of bizarre "hate-related incidents."
They cancelled classes because of a guy in a hood. Instead, here's the schedule of their events for the afternoon directly from the college president:
12PM | Lord Lounge, Afrikan Heritage House
Teach-in led by Africana Studies Department2PM | Wilder Bowl
Demonstration of solidarity3:30PM | Finney Chapel
Community convocation: "We Stand Together" (previously scheduled for Wednesday 3/6 at 12PM)
How utterly useless. Do they actually think whoever is responsible for the incidents cares at all about the college's solidarity? A look at their events calendar shows that they even cancelled some special guest classes for their music students.
Everybody knows that trolls feed off responses like this. Could they possibly have given this guy much more of an ego boost than to essentially wasting thousands of dollars in students' tuition (Oberlin's tuition for this academic year is $44,512) by cancelling classes?

Oberlin College in Ohio canceled classes today in favor of "A Day of Solidarity"...
Everyone stand united in brotherhood from the safety of your individual homes.
They will feel the solidarity in their dorms as they play another round of Modern Warfare.
I can only imagine that for a lot of the student body this would be "A Day of Getting Drunk and Stoned".
The Rastafarian Sacrament. What better solidarity could one have with the non-victims of a non-incident involving a non-entity?
Haile Selassie is NOT dead!
Elijah neva die, Enoch neva die, Baba Ji neva die, Guru Nanak neva die, WAH HO OH HO!
How about Haille Sallasse, Up Your Ass?
That's fine, so long as they're listening to Africa by Toto while they get drunk and stoned.
It was probably a pledge from the Afrikan house playing a prank.
Sisterhood. What the fuck is wrong with you?
He's intrinsically patriarchical.
The stink of oppression around here is oppressive.
That's how we like it.
Racism on campus? Near "the school's Afrikan Heritage House"?
Ok, I get it. Let's give one cheer for the alleged "troll".
Sometimes you just gotta troll with it, man.
+1 anon.
But FEELINGS!
Don't get me started on "triggering"....
Well now I kind of want to get you started on "triggering"...
The TR word!
Trigger warning
WTF is a trigger warning? Do I even want to know? I have this feeling that it's going to be stupid beyond all reason.
It's a "this article contains words that will hurt the feelings of stupid perpetually aggrieved pussies" warning.
I knew that I shouldn't have asked.
It's often used to indicate that a piece will be talking about rape; that seems like a reasonable use to me.
But not here. And no, it is not reasonable.
Not to seem unsympathetic, my wife was a victim of a brutal sexual assault, but do they put "trigger warnings" at the beginning of news articles about events in Afghanistan? Why are victims of a sexual assault deemed incapable of dealing with the feeling invoked by a traumatic memory, but veterans with PTSD don't get similar concern?
Is it due to gender? And if it is, isn't it rather sexist to assume that the women who makeup the majority of victims of sexual assault are so permanently scarred that they cannot emotionally handle a description of anything that's even remotely connected to sexual assault?
Far from being motivated by any real sympathy for victims of sexual assault, the phenomenon of "trigger warnings" serve as the ultimate heckler's veto. Any discussion that travels down a path the hyper-P.C. partisan finds uncomfortable, the partisan will immediately seek to end by shrieking about "triggers". They sincerely believe that one's emotions cannot be controlled. Their minds are stuck in a reptilian form, only able to react to external stimulus and with no powers of inhibition. Thus, they place the blame of you and the stimuli you create for their various emotional states of their inner mental life.
They sincerely believe that one's emotions cannot be controlled.
Or perhaps they want to have an excuse for preventing discourse unhelpful to their side, and rationalize cutting off the discussion with the "trigger" BS.
I think this is largely the reason.
The place where I usually see them, and where I think they're reasonable, is in articles that mention rape in a decent amount of detail, not ones that are actually about rape.
If rape (or similar) is in the headline I assume people can figure out not to read it.
And I get your point wrt a double standard, but I don't think its very existence makes the use of "trigger warnings" for rape unreasonable.
I do see your point wrt the heckler's veto, though.
And I'm terribly sorry to hear about your wife.
Thank you. Unfortunately, it occurred when she was a teenager in Thailand. Even if she went to the cops, their reaction would have been:
1. Look up from card game
2. Shrug
3. Return to card game
This is why she's soooo sympathetic to those poor American college students who suffer "microagressions". And by sympathetic I mean "wanting to macroaggress their face into a bloody pulp".
That is awful. Ugh
What a happened to your wife,
Well, the American pussies are awful, too, but in a kind of pussified, doesn't really matter in the context of shit like happens to your wife kind of way.
Fuck...
That's an interesting coincidence. My wife, who (many years ago) was the victim of one of those horror stories you can't help but read in the newspaper, has exactly that attitude. Being brutalized and then crippled from her injuries has given her a certain attitude- plenty of guns in the house (she is a frighteningly good shot), zero tolerance for the "aggrieved," and a completely cynical attitude about the law and its effectiveness. A perfect libertarian. God, I love her.
A toast to your wife, sir!
Indeed, your wife and mine possess a source of strength that the ninnies screeching about "triggers" deny they could ever have, much less comprehend.
Do people like to be reminded of traumatic events that they experienced? Of course not, however what bothers me about "triggering" is the fact that it's a lazy, paternalistic, and ham-fisted attempt to avoid making someone feel uncomfortable. Instead of taking the mental energy required to discuss something potentially traumatic or hurtful tactfully, they place some boilerplate text above the article; the textual equivalent of sending little Johnny to his room while the adults discuss something "adult".
When reading about the events in Oberlin was I reminded of some assholes who were racist to me in the past? Sure. Was I overwhelmed by a flood of emotions so crippling that I laid down on the floor, while whimpering and curled in the fetal position? Of course not. Was I so full of irrational rage that I punched through my computer monitor, and then rampaged through my home, clutching my Benelli, vowing to kill the first honkey I see? No. As human beings, we have the ability to inhibit our baser instincts through our reason. Of course, this takes a process of maturation and self-reflection, and is not always accomplished naturally without assistance. But that's a topic for another time.
"As human beings, we have the ability to inhibit our baser instincts through our reason."
I'll offer a modification:
As adult humans, we have the ability to act as moral agents.
"Acting as moral agents"; that phrase is extremely important. The shitheads of the world presume that is not possible without government intervention; they presume that individuals are not capable of doing so.
I get what you're saying. In my statement, I was approaching it from a neuro-psychological angle, i.e. the pre-frontal cortex is able to inhibit impulses from the limbic system. (In a healthy person, at least.)
Not really, no. We don't put disclaimers on top of articles about war or murder, and it doesn't seem to cause difficulty for anyone.
How long before we find out that this little incident was initiated by someone from the "Aggrieved Groups Coalition?
Did the police ever solve the case of the Columbia Professor who put a noose on her own door?
Assuming it is full of progressives, plenty.
The linked article sets forth that the school has an affirmative action club. Raycist!
$44,512
Is that now the cost(x4) of becoming an indoctrinated idiot with no useful skills to contribute to society?
No, that's the cost for getting a certificate to prove it.
I'm sure it's another example of a progressive idiot crying wolf in order to "raise awareness".
One of the commenters suggested as much on the Oberlin blog.
Or a performance artist who just had a hell of a good time screwing with muddled heads.
I learned about "Afrika" from this article. Thancs!
Is that the latest PC way to spell it? If so, I bet that accidentally spelling it Africa, is racist.
Apparently it is the Swahili way to spell it, used in order to express solidarity with one's ancestors stolen from places where Swahili is spoken.
Why does Swahili use a Latin alphabet?
And why do people descended from West Africa consider Swahili their ancestral tongue?
Because they were victims of oppression by evil white Europeans who stole their language and made them speak some form of Latin, of course, duh.
What about being the victims of evil black Afrikans who stole their freedom and raped their daughters?
That doesn't count, those other black Afrikans only did it because they were, themselves, being oppressed by evil white Europeans.
Only evil white western males can be held accountable for their behavior. Everyone else is off the hook because they have, at some time in history, been oppressed by whitey.
Because it's a hell of a lot easier than writing Swahili using Arabic.
Or Kanji.
Which is ironic since their ancestors were illiterate. We give them an alphabet and this is how they repay us, by getting all hussy about our letters.
What a bunch of silly bunts.
Technically they were pre-literate, not illiterate.
The way I interpret it, it is the Dutch way to spell it, as in Afrikaner/Afrikaan, as in racist slave owner, as in ku klux klan which also has lots of k's.
You know who's running around in klan outfits? The system is. That's who. It was me and you in those klan outfits!
You know who else spells it Afrika?
He was rotten to the Korps, too.
He was also rotten to his Korpsmen.
I'll bet he could pronounce it, though.
Whether with or without a teleprompter.

Man, I stepped right in it. How do you get Godwin off your shoes?
Belch every time you hear Sean Hannity or some neoconman refer to "1938" or "Chamberlain".

I was surprised a liberal college would have an Afrikaans cultural center.
What? That sounds like the Afrikaans way of spelling/speaking. "Eh-fricka"
Muvvafuka!
Seth Efrikan.
Deplomatic Eh-munity!
It's just been revoked?
Those who choose to sit do not represent me!
"if it's fraud?"
You know it is. These things almost always are on college campuses. Antioch opened back up a year or so ago. Maybe Oberlins losing some admissions and are trying to flex their identity politics cred to win people back.
This is a terrific way to deter future incidents of hate. Make hate graffiti, and your classes will be cancelled.
Or, just phone in a graffiti threat.
"Don't make me say the 'N-word'!"
Don't move, or the [n-word] gets called an [n-word]!
I wish to God that I'd considered this route when I was on the verge of missing a significant deadline as an undergrad.
Ah, I remember the good old days of bomb threats. They always seemed to happen around Finals.
""""someone in a KKK-style hood and robe was spotted near the school's Afrikan Heritage House"''
I wonder who would be handing out around the Afrikan Heritage House?
I wonder who would benefit from a racist scare near the Afrikan Heritage House?
I wonder if the Afrikan Heritage House is now missing some sheets?
Afrikans did 9/11?
Afrikaners did the Battle of Blood River. 470 dutch Afrikaners took out 15,000 zulu tribesmen and sustained only three minor injuries in the process. Probably the most lopsided battle I've ever read about.
When Pizzaro slaughtered the Incas, that was pretty damn lopsided also.
Taking Steel to fight against folks who only have cotton armor, isn't nice. This is why we need affirmative action today, because whitey is still the same ruthless barbarian that he has always been.
Badass cotton armor lol!
Their weapons were mostly clubs with shards of obsidian embedded in them, and spears tipped with the same. Highly effective against enemies without steel armor, but against steel armor and steel swords, totally useless.
Ah yes, the wicked Macuahuitl. One of the coolest weapons ever invented, IMO. Sadly all of the originals are lost, and all we have is contemporary artwork and a drawing of one from the 1800's.
Also highly effective against white walkers from the North.
I need that show to reappear in my life!
They should have used hemp armor.
Fuckin' Hippie
We took a cruise on Holland America once. The Dutch are nothing if not efficient.
Somewhat on-topic: This is why there are no female neo-Confederates.

What if Oberlin came around and started telling reason mag how to run its shit? Nobody's being sent to jail for speech.
Yes liberals can be annoying as fuck when they get all candlelight vigil-y. But they aren't hurting anyone and their messages and goals are 100% noble. It's not as if libertarians are setting a better example with their back-of-the-room spitwad approach to everything.
Oberlin has the right to run their shitty campus the way they want, and we have the right to criticize them for it. It's called the marketplace of ideas, which your pals in Washington and elsewhere haven't quite snuffed out yet.
....which your pals in Washington and elsewhere haven't quite snuffed out yet.
Just wait till the US Drone Force is at full complement! Then we'll have unanimity of opinion.
But I thought you guys were supposed to be good at marketplaces. How many entire universities have you captured?
According to you guys, we've been running the entire economy and government for decades now. Hence our responsibility for the housing bubble and the subprime crash and everything else that goes wrong.
Yeah I was being a little disingenuous. Libertarian economic thought has a significant market share, sadly. And it's not so metaphorical in this case, since the reason libertarian economic thought is so prevalent is because it's underwritten by very wealthy entities. You can protest that claim if you like, but not on this website.
I don't know if it's more sad that Tony thinks we've been following libertarian economic policy in recent years or that he ignores the countless wealthy people bankrolling progressive causes, including people with a lot more money than the EVUL KOCH BROTHERZ!
But liberals are right and liberalism would exist without any help from wealthy backers (I dispute your claim about the relative levels though). Libertarianism owes its entire existence to such subsidy--it's clothed in high-minded rhetoric about nonagression and other bullshit, but it's essentially an economic philosophy tailor-made to fit the self-interested short-term agenda of wealthy interests.

Thank you, shithead. Par for your postings
Liberalism has never existed without rich benefactors. Why do you think socialists are virtually all upper middle class white people?
Except you are forgetting that liberalism is the intellectual offspring of libertarianism. If libertarianism exists solely because of wealthy people, then so does liberalism.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Fuck you are stupid.
What else is new?

Whew.....thanks S o c k p u p p e t you made my afternoon!
Actually, he's right. Their goals are noble. They're 100% confident that what they're doing is the right thing for everyone. And that's precisely what makes it scary.
And libertarians aren't?
Kinda the whole point of libertarianism (aside from the initiating violence part) is not believing you know what the right thing for everyone is, and consequently staying the fuck out of their business.
(the NOT initiating violence part, that is)
Yeah, you think a laissez-faire approach is "the right thing for everyone." You can't escape the fact that it comes with a massive policy agenda and thus massive consequences for people.
Yes, dipshit. Equal opportunity for all is a heinous concept that would result the rich eating the children of the poor.
Got it!
Ayn Rand would slap you silly for advocating equal opportunity for all.
But you probably mean theoretical equal opportunity, i.e., massive entrenched disparity.
Tony, can you spell NAP?
His brain has been taking one for quite some time now.
Winner, Winner, Tony's paying for dinner!
Oh no! The N Acronym!
please don't
Actually I have a bit of sympathy for you here. Whenever something like this happens, or a tea partier says something stupid to the press, it's almost immediately assumed to be some sort of false-flag operation to make conservatives look bad. When the roles are reversed, it's always, "Haha look at how stupid the liberals are, saying/doing stupid things like that!" Nary a mention that conservatives might also be capable of false-flag operations.
The difference being that most of us went to school with these people--namely lefties who were just born right (they know it, they know that you know it, so why not just stop pretending that you're not being stupid and selfish by opposing them?)--and thus understand that the oblivious acceptance of simplistic, typically authoritarian claims (sorry, narratives) is the bedrock of the modern social-democrat left.
This character may be a sockpuppet, but he's a pretty good representative of the kind of aggressive, prior-restraint political noise that is typical of young lefties.
So... canceling the classes was a false flag operation?
Most of us seem to assume that the vandalizer is a 'troll,' and it makes sense a conservative would want to troll a progressive campus.
Jesus Christ, fuck off you retarded little twat.

My daughter just graduated from Oberlin. It is as PC as it gets, and I've seen the Berkeleys, Cornells, and Smith Colleges. One of the questions for incoming Freshmen: Do you want a same sex roommate or opposite sex? There are lots of great people, and some very rational non-progs around, but the place reeks of neo-Liberalism.
The perp is likely not a student. As with many colleges there are town-gown issues.
Neoliberalism is generally accepted as referring to the promotion of laissez-faire markets (even at the point of a gun). So basically libertarians who got tired of waiting.

Yep, a guy just came up to me and said "either you get free or I'll shoot you"!
And outside of Walmart? Hey, those greeters are ARMED! Don't buy stuff? Tough: BANG!

Laissez-faire economies are antithetical to freedom.
SLAVERY IS FREEDOM
DERP IS HERP
"Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself." -Milton Friedman
Freedom is slavery.
Indeed? Please explain.
Because they result in the concentration of wealth (thus power) in the hands of a small elite. Surely we both agree that situation is antithetical to freedom.
Only through progressive taxation and redistributive programs has meaningful freedom been able to reach the masses. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Every time I hear the term "neoliberal", it's used as a sneer word by some socialist bitching that some country's economic policy or somebody's proposal isn't collectivist enough.
Apparently just the colors of the gowns and the shapes of the hats.
That said, I can picture some locals knocking back a few and one says, "50 bucks to anyone who puts on a white sheet and sneaks around Oberlin!"
I'd contribute.
So if you say you want an opposite-sex roommate are you added to a watch list?
If you're transgendered, who is the opposite sex?
Yes.
how many racists hang out at Oberlin?
Who, in his right mind, hangs out at Oberlin?
Have you ever gotten head from a girl who plays a woodwind instrument?
I have but I attributed her skill to her Catholic upbringing.
The oral skills, not her technique on the clarinet.
Tonguing and embouchure. 'nuff said.
Now you've gone and made me think of Alyson Hannigan and band camp.
Next time I watch that flickorama, I will try to envision you instead of Jason Biggs being on the receiving end of things.
Yes, in high school. She was bi-sexual, leaning lezzie and later matriculated at Smith.
I.e. leaning, and she finally fell over entirely.
Like you read about.
She attended our 25th high school re-union with her partner. She had chopped off her once beautiful, long flowing mane and replaced it with a butch cut. Both she and her partner wore birkenstocks and you could see that the partner did not shave her underarm hair.
Yuck.
I can handle the other stuff, but Birks, no way.
At my college (Warren Wilson College) - there was an incident where the international student office got vandalized with racist slurs. They got the whole community together and preached to the choir about acceptance (even though we have long been considered amongst the most liberal schools in the country).
Turns out, the slurs were written by an international student, who spoke angrily at the event about how racist the school was.
Turns out, the slurs were written by an international student, who spoke angrily at the event about how racist the school was.
So, what happened to the victim when it was found out they did it?
He was kicked out for purportedly raping another international student several months later, before it came out. Admin tried to minimize the findings, but at a school of 850, it's hard to keep secrets.
And then he sued the school for "racial discrimination."
Oh, I forgot another part to this story. Not long before this vandalism, my friend was writing a story about his experiences in Europe for the creative writing magazine and quoted the n-word, unedited, to reflect the treatment of his Muslim friends by racists they encountered there. Stupid PC kids with their lack of reading comprehension assumed that HE was being racist and offensive by using the word and signed a petition to get him expelled, his boss fired, the Dean of Students fired, etc.
That was probably the motivation behind the fake victimization incident that mobilized support for international students against the purportedly widespread racism on our very anti-racist campus.
someone in a KKK-style hood and robe was spotted near the school's Afrikan Heritage House
The Boers were not exactly famous for their racially inclusive society.
And yet Black South Africans have been doing far worse economically in the post-Apartheid era.

Don't let shreek hear about this...

No, goddammit. Should that be on my bucket list?
I got propositioned for that activity by a clarinet player once, and was assured that "practice makes perfect when it comes to blowing wood".

But now I must scold you for calling one of nature's most intimate and loving acts impersonal! (God, I'm just ?ber-sex-positive today. Gross.)

Do Oberlin students all get together and have a good cry every time they see a four wheel drive pickup truck with a rebel flag decal in the window? Because I sure as fuck would get one of those decals for my truck if I ever had occasion to pass through Oberlin.
Reminds me of a fantastically uninteresting incident from college. Somebody wrote "nigger" on a whiteboard in my freshman dorm and they called a mandatory meeting of the whole dorm to talk about tolerance or something. I left early. NOTHING ELSE HAPPENED.
You have a good memory for uninteresting incidents.
It's notable for being one of the few incidents in Warty's life where someone wasn't crying and/or bleeding.
Just because he didn't mention it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
That's the best kind of sex!
"a fantastically uninteresting incident from college"
Redundancy over and over.
When I start to tell college stories, I generally realize that, well, they weren't all that interesting sober.
Not unless you fucked your teacher, otherwise, your stories will get bad reviews around here.
Someone should have told me that before I left for school.
You didn't write "cracker" on a blackboard?
Did they write it with the quotation marks as you did? If so, isn't that then a permissible exercise in merely attributing someone else's words without endorsement?
The ultimate irony is that the original KKK used white sheets and fleeting sightings to scare people who believed in ghosts.
White ghosts?
It was you, wasn't it.
"I do like black people. It just took a white one to prove it to me."
Am I the only one thinking about how I should have done that to get out of classes?
Shame admission: I totally almost applied to Oberlin because I was really, really stupid in high school.
So not much has changed then?
Does being more cynical make you smarter, or just more cynical?
True wisdom comes from knowing that you know nothing. I know that Episiarch knows nothing; ergo, I'm wise.

No.
If being cynical made you smarter, Hugh would have crazy hair and a mustache and would have left his job in the patent office by now.
Fortunately it's easy for cynicism to be mistaken for intelligence because I just assume the worst about people and I'm almost never wrong.
There's also spinicism, which is any of the doctrines or practices of the spinics. A spinic is a person who believes that only elusive disinterest in the truth manipulates human actions.
ProL: He lied to us.
Episiarch Knight: It's easy to lie to you, ProL. You trust people. I'm a spinic.
You know what happens when you make an assumption, Hugh? You make an ass out of you and...uh...umption.
Is assuman a word? Because it should be.
shudder at that Chief talk
Good god I'm getting old. I had to read the account in the Oberlin paper twice before I realized "Year of the Queer" described a poster that was defaced rather than the contents of the defacement itself.
I've always thought it as strange that homosexuals adopted the "queer" verbiage in a positive context as it is that African-Americans adopted the n-word.
It's called reappropriation and it's nothing new. It's probably been happening as long as there has been spoken language.
So does this mean that kids won't have to worry about expulsion or other disciplinary measures if they play 'smear the queer' on the playground?
Smear the queer. I havent heard that phrase in....35 years.
I laughed.
Probably has been 45 for me. Wasn't sure how local that was. Funny 'cause we had no idea what that even meant.
Didn't need to...it rhymed.
I thought it meant weird until I learned about the birds and the bees.
When I was playing it, I didn't know that such things were possible let alone have any clue what it meant. I thought it just meant violence.
But, dosen't queer mean odd, strange or differnt?
There aren't a ton of options to work with. Homosexual was coined in the 1890s to make it sound technical and less icky during German unification. Psychotherapists grabbed onto the clinical part and started to try to cure it, and people started running with the "it's all about sex, just look at the name 'homoSEXual'"
I've always preferred gay since it has a long history and "queer" is a bit bigger tent than I'm willing to stand under, but deep down in my heart I'd love to reappropriate "Sodomite"
I'd love to reappropriate "Sodomite"
That would be awesome.
"Homosexual was coined in the 1890s to make it sound technical and less icky during German unification."
So, German unification was reminding people of...got it.
Maybe you all are homosexuals
Yeah, "Queer" is kind of a funny one to re-appropriate (assuming gay people want to be seen as normal) since it actually, literally means not normal. At least "faggot" or "poofter" have no inherent negative connotations. But I don't really care and "queer" is a perfectly fine word if that's what you want to call yourself.
I think that's part of the tension with gay rights activists, people on the radical end of the spectrum seem to be more comfortable with the word queer and see themselves as heroically kicking at patriarchy and stuffy victorian gender norms.
I thought faggot came to be applied to DER HOMOSEXUALS because they would get beaten with faggots or burned on a pile of faggots. I'd say it has some bad connotations.
Somebody needs to come up with a better term than "trigger warning." What will be triggered if we're not warned? Suicide? Pogroms? Shooting rampages? Insanity? Is that the point of infantilism we've reached?
Trigger warnings need to have trigger locks to prevent accidental discharges
"What will be triggered if we're not warned? Suicide? Pogroms? Shooting rampages? Insanity?"
One could only hope.

With this sort of incident, it's best to assume it's a hoax until proven otherwise. The same pattern repeats so often.
In fact, a genuine hate incident on campus would probably qualify as man bites dog, that's how rare it is.
Perhaps the idea of the prank was to draw attention to thinly veiled racism and chauvinism at "the Afrikan Heritage House".
I have been gone all day, deprived of my H&R fix and this is what I come back to?
My money is on some liberal douche. Whipping the other liberal douches into a frenzy with idiotic stereotypical outrages that they read about somewhere. Looks like it worked.
Can someone tell me what the fuck a trigger warning is? Or maybe dont tell me. It is probably something so inane, moronic and vapid that it will piss me off. Wait 30 minutes until I have some rum put away, then tell me.
I asked the same question very early in the thread. And yes, you don't really want to know, because it is THAT stupid.
My interpretation of it, after reading some on it outside of this site, is that it's just a further extension of the PC non-sense, another mechanism for progressives and feminists to attempt to shut down speech that they disagree with. Nothing really new, just the same old bullshit you can expect from the insane among us.
Just from hearing the phrase the impression I get is that it is intended for snowflakes whose sensibilities are so fucking delicate that they have to have a warning so that they can brace themselves before hearing certain words or thinking certain thoughts.
Using the word trigger implies that their heads will explode without the forewarning. Hmmmmm........that could be entertaining.
I had not read the thread yet....I see now. And I see Tony was here sharting his usual stupidity.
He wont respond to me since I called him a faggot. And a shithook. Oh, if only I had thought to do that a couple of years ago.....
Now if we could only get everyone to not respond to tony we would have 150 less assinine comments to scroll through every thread.

"Now if we could only get everyone to not respond to tony we would have 150 less assinine comments to scroll through every thread."
Nope.
Shithead represents the brain-dead lib viewpoint. So we ignore that and it goes away? We ignore it and we all get to pat each other on the back?
Are you really suggesting that we do not engage stupidity?
You are assuming that Tony is not deliberately winding us up. Engaging stupidity is one thing, but I think Tony is actually quite clever, a piece of performance art designed specifically to get people going.
I think it comes here to f up the threads. Which is what happens when everyone responds to it.
"Can someone tell me what the fuck a trigger warning is? Or maybe dont tell me. It is probably something so inane, moronic and vapid that it will piss me off. "
Irony?
You know, when I was in high school someone scrawled on a bathroom stall that they were going to "shoot up the school" on a specific date in the future. The administration responded by making class optional that day (of course I skipped too).
I was always amazed the incident never happened again what with the prime incentive they offered for it.
Are you sure it wasn't the lyrics to the Fresh Prince theme song?
I'm not sure of anything; they used the phrase "shoot up the school" but I never saw the text. A classmate mirthfully interpreted it as a heroin reference.
Racist behavior can be curbed by heavy fines, using an ethnic slur should be punishable by a 100 dollar penalty. Students wearing T-shirts displaying logos of inter-racial handshakes will support solidarity and eliminate anger. Weekend home sharing will bring together the fearful and pacify the lonely.
Huh???
Did the rum short circuit my sarcasmeter?
I laughed so hard you owe me a new sculpted placenta.
"How utterly useless."
How insensitive. We shall persevere. We shall persevere.
Someone tell Oberlin that the black slaves have been freed... like 150 years ago.
Weekend home sharing will bring together the fearful and pacify the lonely.
Now I wish some nice oboist would come spend the weekend pacifying my lonelinesses.
Whoa, whoa, whoa... a double reed instrumentalist? Be careful what you wish for.
Sounds like the coolest thing ever man. Wow.

Why do they spell "Afrika" with a 'K'?
"Cause they're rakists.
ONE dude in a robe and hood? Seems to me that every time I've heard of KKKlowns trying to get attention, there's a pack of them.

That struck me too. The only reason the KKK were a menace and a threat when they showed up was because they were a MOB. One dude is pretty much the opposite of a mob.
the troll's profile fits a black lesbian in Grievance Studies.
If you think Shawn`s story is exceptional..., last week my girlfriends brother basically also broght in $8654 just sitting there a 40 hours month at home and their classmate's mother-in-law`s neighbour has been doing this for 10-months and brought home more than $8654 in their spare time on their pc. use the guide on this page, jump15.com
Turns out the guy in a Klan hood may have been a woman in a blanket. http://mobile.slate.com/blogs/.....dzIVzi4t8r
