Mea Culpa: Wrong Inaugural Edition
Yesterday I wrote a post criticizing President Obama's second inaugural speech and some of the liberal reaction to it. There was a big, big problem with the post: I quoted from the president's first inaugural address. I owe Reason's readers an apology for this boneheaded mistake, and also an apology to the other journalists whose remarks I connected to the wrong speech. I've added a note to the post indicating the error and struck out the entire text.
Fortunately, my colleagues have written quite a bit about the actual second inaugural speech, and their pieces are very much worth reading. Here are a few highlights:
- Matt Welch on Obama's warmed over collectivism.
- J.D. Tuccille on Obama's dangerous majoritarianism.
- Ronald Bailey on the president's big push to confront climate change
- Ira Stoll on what to expect from Obama's second term.

Opps!
and oops.
My Kroger used to have its reduced-for-quick-sale bread in a rack labeled "Opps! We baked to much!"
Is it any coincidence Suder-Man posted this just before the PM Links show up? We know your game, mister!
It's like posting news of a scandal on a Friday evening.
But worse!

Put down the pipe, Peter. Put down the pipe.
the second inaugural was mostly about about swarms of officers eating out our substance.
^^THIS^^
Meh.
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't care enough about the inaugural address to read this the first time you posted about it.
SUDERMAN!!!! GET IN HERE!!
scene shifts to a darkened storage closet, with young Pete Suderman pulling a toke on a joint. Tries to cough quietly as he exhales.
You fire Lucy, yet Mr. McArdle still has a job after THIS?
I'd probably be pretty annoyed if I actually cared about what he wrote in the first place, but I assume it wasn't really worth reading anyway.
I only wish I'd read the piece so I could have caught him. Too bad that involves reading Peter Suderman posts.
Lucy was fired?? Sniff. They told me she was going to a farm with a nice fambly where she could run free.
Seriously, what became of her?
If only there was some sort of device where you could look up things. Particularly things young women can't help but share with everyone who owns such a device.
Oh, were you asking me? She has her own blog.

Consider it bookmarked. It's hard to say 'no' to a lede that reads: "Friday Afternoon Links: Mayor Bloomberg the Fascist, David Frum the Prohibitionist, Glenn Beck the Libertarian"
Bart: my hamster didn't die, he moved to a farm upstate with a nice family.
Lisa: Bart, your hamster died and dad buried him in the backyard. Although not necessarily in that order.
Why did they fire her? She wasn't as bad as krayewski.
Every word uttered by the Chairwarmer-in-Chief sounds just like Charlie Brown's teacher to me.
Hug.
Am I the only one who's willing to give the Suder-man a pass on this? It's not like Obama ever says anything worth thinking about.
I'm still wondering if ANYONE caught it besides/before the Suder-Man Clan.

Am I the only one who's willing to give the Suder-man a pass on this?
But COCKTAIL PAAHTEES!
I appreciate Suderman's apology, but I doubt anybody was injured by this embarrassing mishap.
"No credubillities were harmed in the production of this piece..."
There is a dude that clearly knows what time it is. Wow.

A completely understandable mistake since all Obamas speeches are the same platitudes and promises rehashed and spewed forth with the same dramatic pauses and posed expressions.
