R.A. Dickey First Knuckleballer to Win Cy Young Award
First Met since Doc Gooden in 1985
R.A. Dickey's incredible 2012 season, where he became the first Met to win 20 games since 1990, was capped Wednesday night when he named the National League Cy Young award winner.
"Man, I'm kind of speechless. It's a real honor," Dickey said after earning the award. The 38-year-old received 27 of the 32 first-place votes and five second-place votes to finish with 209 points.
