Victims of Hold-Up Chase Gunman Through Downtown Washington
Abandoned pursuit after being fired on from a car
A holdup by masked gunmen near Dupont Circle at the start of Friday morning's commute led to a car chase and gunfire after the victims pursued their assailants through downtown Washington, police said.
Police said after five men were robbed, two of them gave chase — and then abandoned their pursuit when one of their attackers leaned out of a window of their get-away vehicle and opened fire. A single bullet pierced the windshield of the victims' car as it approached L Street, but police said no one was hit.
