Brickbat: Locks of Love
Officials at the Beaumont Independent School district say a high school principal cancelled an adult cosmetology class at the last minute because of a lack of funds. Kwmane Gray, a student in the class, says the principal cancelled the class because he saw him during orientation and thought he was gay. The principal has refused to talk to media about the class.

There seems to be a lot of background information missing from the linked article. The best I can gather is that this is some kind of a vo-tech school that normally runs this kind of program, but for whatever reason, cancelled it this time around. There's tons of sentiment like:
, "As a teacher I'm appalled, our motto is to help things grow, like we nurture a plant or a tree and we plant it to help it grow...why is someone's human rights being abolished? Are we going back to the days before Martin Luther King? This is 2012!"
And
"You can't choose who gets an education or who doesn't, or who's worthy in your opinion of who gets an education and who doesn't," said Mo Taylor Boggan, an organizer of the protest.
There is so little to go from here it's a little hard to get worked up over a school cancelling a class. There is basically nothing but insinuation.
It's never stopped us before.
Watch the news video. It's cable public access quality. Stop it at the 1:39 mark to enjoy the guy the graphic identifies as "Kwmane Gray, former cosmotology student".
This seems like manufactured victimhood.
More like Kwame Gay, am I right?
Check out that spot on the video. 1:39 mark. Gray is actually more appropriate.
12 News is on the stick.
Today I learned that Kwame Gray is a 60-year-old white male with a mustache and that the young black female is an attempted burglar who was arrested in Port Arthur (2:45).
"As a teacher I'm appalled, our motto is to help things grow, like we nurture a plant or a tree and we plant it to help it grow...why is someone's human rights being abolished? Are we going back to the days before Martin Luther King? This is 2012!"
A teacher wrote that? *SIGH* There is the real story.
I don't even know what to say.
"If you were a tree or a plant, what kind of tree or plant would you be?!"
"Well, a DEAD one I guess, since no oe nurtured or watered me....THANKS, SCHOOLS!"
No, he said it to the reporter on camera. It doesn't make the statement any better, and the accent doesn't help.
I'm with the H.S. principal. If he does not cancel the class, pretty soon we'll have gays cuttin hair all over the place.
But if they don't train them properly they'll just go off the grid. Back alley coat-hanger hair cuts, having to fly out to Switzerland every time your bangs get long.
Who wants that?
Is this a choose your own ending Brickbat? It could be based on discromination against homosexuals, it could be a guy with a sense of entitlement using the courts to overturn a reasonable executive financial decision.
If the school was previously planning to shut down the cosemtology program, why did they wait a month into the school year to announce it? That leaves all the people in the program forced to make a snap decision about what alternate course of study to take, as well as dumping them into courses they've missed a significant part of.
First they came for the gay haircutters, and I said nothing, because I don't cut hair....
Well, they ARE capitalists, those hair dressers.
Now thats what I am talking about dude. Way cool man.

he saw him
Ambiguous pronouns. C- for a normal, D- for a professional writer.
Ambiguously gay pronouns.
"he saw him during orientation and thought he was gay". Exactly.
