Mitt and Barry Are Neck-and-Neck, Google Says Censorship is On the Rise, Immigration Law Leaves Employers Scrambling: P.M. Links
-
Since mid-April, presidential preference polls have shown a dead heat between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. With both candidates stuck at around 46 percent, many observers assume that the GOP candidate benefits, since late-deciders usually break against the incumbent.
- Google says it faces a rising tide of demands from governments to remove search results, videos and other content to which various governments around the world object. "It's alarming not only because free expression is at risk, but because some of these requests come from countries you might not suspect — Western democracies not typically associated with censorship," wrote Dorothy Chou, Google's senior policy analyst.
- Alabama's anti-immigrant law has driven tens of thousands of Hispanics from the state — and left some employers scrambling to fill positions for which legal residents are unqualified or uninterested.
- A 30-block-long silent procession, led by civil rights groups and gay activists, protested the New York City Police Department's controversial stop-and-frisk tactics.
- Stephen Downing, the former chief of the LAPD's Bureau of Investigation, with oversight of the Narcotics Division, now favors full drug legalization. He might want to have a chat with the feds.
- Having effectively seized complete control of the country, Egypt's military leaders insist they will "hand over power to the elected president" — apparently Mohammed Morsi — at the end of this month.
- After pulling a plurality of votes in Greece's latest election, Greece's New Democracy party is struggling to piece together a ruling coalition. With Spain's bond yields jumping over seven percent and Italy also teetering, stock markets dipped over fears of European instability.

Those unstable Europeans are going to ruin everything for Obama.
You’ve almost got it right…
“Flirting with dangerous austerity policies, European governments have stalled worldwide economic recovery and negating economic stimulus in the United States, top Obama advisers and pundits say.”
…Greece’s New Democracy party is struggling to piece together a ruling coalition.
How are these coalitions put together? Lowest common denominator?
Something about sausages.
Less than 0.01% rat shit by Federal Law.
That’s gonna be tough, since the coalition will be 100% politicians.
They’re very good at not shitting where they eat, however. How many bills exempt members of Congress from their effects?
Stop crime before it happens. Let’s just sit and think about that for a moment.
Can’t we do to New York what was done to it in ‘Escape from New York’?
I’d rather build a 30 ft high wall around DC first! Concertina, gun emplacements….the works!
Can’t we do both? We have the technology…
I hear they’re currently looking for precogs to get their new pre-crime division rolling too.
Awesome catch, FoE.
I keep saying it (so stop anytime): “Spoons made me fat!”
Enthusiasm is a relative thing, it seems, as at this point I can’t imagine who the hell is enthusiastic about either of those gentlemen, supporter or not.
Hatred is a potent source of enthusiasm.
One which both major parties will be harnessing over the coming months.
Taliban threatens to halt polio vaccination if drone attacks don’t cease. If that doesn’t work, I hear they’re going to stop giving antibiotics to children with blood infections.
It might be related to the persist and profoundly stupid conspiracy theory that 3rd World shitholes often have about foreign vaccination.
You mean like Americna paid doctors giving children fake vaccines that don’t protect them?.
Thank god scum like this gets put in jail
My understanding was that the vaccines were real and protected those that received them, but that it was done as a means of tracking suspects through DNA samples rather than for purely humanitarian reasons.
Of course the ethical problem with that is precisely what we face right now: since vaccinations have been used as a weapon against Al Qaeda and the Taliban, it is in their best interest to halt access to those vaccinations.
Yeah, this was a serious breach of ethica and a very damaging acto to the worldwide disease eradication effort, but the vaccines administered were real. Mostly though the kids onlt got the first shot in a series, so the vaccines won’t be very effective, possibly causing further damage to the vaccines’ reputation down the road.
Yes, the Don Imus studio is still in Manhattan.
Jenny McCarthy is a 3rd world Muslim cleric? Did they see her Playboy spread?
Ironically, police respond to wolves mauling a zoo keeper and no canids were shot.
Very odd read. I suspect it’s because it was in Sweden.
“The animals would not be put down” – definitely not the case here.
Come on, these animals were owned by a zoo, watched over by professionals. Killing them wouldn’t cause enough emotional devastation to make it worthwhile to the cops.
Y’all have got to read the featured comments on this Jezebel article. Apparently feminists coddling a woman in their employ is an example of white privilege.
Yeah, I was trying to make heads or tales of that story. But the picture alone was worth it; a still from Cloverfield 2: Rise of the Coke Whores.
Christ yes. She looks like Lindsey Lohan’s long lost sister. (Not to say I wouldn’t do her, but I’d damn sure not feel good about in the morning.)
Wrap that rascal, my friend!
You insult the Goddess.
You give someone enough time with photoshop, and they can make Warty look like that.
That’s Terry Richardson’s work
Link to Jezebel‘s “profile” of the artist.
Richardson is described as having an intern, a NYU communications major identified only by her first name, Alex, whose duties included doing his dishes and posing for photos fellating Richardson from the kitchen trash can while wearing a tiara that reads “Slut.”
It’s good to be a heterosexual fashion photographer.
I wonder if FSU communications majors are that stupid dedicated…
Fucking HTML fail. Damn you squirrels.
WHERE ARE THE FUCKING PICS
Post those Alex pics or it didn’t happen
Warty already looks like that, but his tits a bigger.
I read it as “smoking angel dust while keeping a job” is an example of white privilege.
Which seems pretty racist to me.
Doesn’t that depend on the job? I mean, strippers and waitresses do that shit all the time and don’t get fired.
Fair point. But those aren’t “real” jobs to Jezebellians. They are patriarchical tools of oppression to either keep “real” women from landing a man or a place to punish “real” women with the courage to get a queer studies degree.
I figure anything that gets you a paycheck is a real job, but I’m funny like that.
I’ve tried to help many a stripper through college. I totally agree.
You forgot rich privilege too.
TL:DR, someone condense to 900 characters.
Moderately attractive white girl has job they envy: CRUSH KILL DESTROY!
Those people lead sad little lives.
The GOP has some strange and horrible taste in music.
Kid Rock? That’s gonna end well. Night Ranger? Are they trying to drive off minorities?

I typically implement the “TEAM Red Correction” when reading about polls, which is to give the TEAM Red candidate about a 5% bump up from his or her position in a poll reported by the corporate media to reflect their actual popularity or lack thereof.
I suspect there’s also something of a Bradley Effect happening, especially since the media has been full of accusations that any opposition to Obama = racism.
I think it’s less a desire to be seen as a properly PC lover of puppies and social safety nets as it is sampling bias.
Warning: Fark Link.
It’s pages and pages of people talking about how awesome European governments are.
I gave up on Fark politics links, but until recently most of the business links were fairly rational. Now everything is about how evil Republicans destroyed Greek workers or something.
The statistics in that quote smell like b.s. to me.
Prosecution of Sandusky rests, defense testimony begins, judge says case could go to the jury before the end of the week.
No kidding. What evidence is the defense going to put on? Not Sandusky himself. I saw part of that Costas interview recently, and my goodness, if you put him on the stand, you probably won’t be able to hear his testimony over the racket the jury will be making as it hammers together a scaffold.
A few character witnesses, maybe.
“Jerry Sandusky loves children. No, wait. I mean, he feels a stirring whenever he sees a young boy…”
FTW!
According to pennlive.com, Sandusky’s lawyer indicated in his opening statement that the jury would hear from Sandusky.
http://www.pennlive.com/midsta…..rs_mi.html
The judge denied motions to dismiss charges, but the prosecution withdrew one charge, leaving 51 charges.

Bariatric surgery might turn you into a drunk.
I know a girl who had the surgery and just kept eating. She would keep eating and get sick, but she couldn’t stop eating.
…or, they just keep stuffing shit down their piehole
Roger Clemens still not guilty of perjury. Fuck you, Congress.
Really, what story couldn’t plausibly end in “Fuck you, Congress?’
Excellent news.
For the record, I think he roided, there at the end.
I even think he lied about it.
But lying to Congress is like eating a hamburger at McDonalds. Isn’t telling lies pretty much what Congress is for?
Holder’s never said one true thing on The Hill. When’s his perjury trial scheduled again?
I thought so.
Even if he has one, it will end just like clemens’s did.
Re: Thunder v. Heat
Has anyone else noticed how egregious the officiating has been in terms of Lebron James v. Kevin Durrant?
Game 2, Lebron blantantly fouls Durrant on a potential game tying shot. Durrant sinks those- it goes to OT.
Then, last game, Durrant gets a 4rth foul just as the Thunder are gaining momentum on a weak ass call.
Meanwhile, as Masshole Bill Simmons (his full name) has pointed out, Lebron has the lowest fouls per game of anyone in the playoffs with his same experience.
And this isn’t a star. schlub, MJ v Byron Russel call either. That stars get different treatment we tacitly accept, though not always approve (I mean, most people didn’t bitch when Jordan got a questionable call. And I say this as a Bulls fan). Sure, the Thunder screwed themselves down the stretch in that game… but still, it does seem like the officiating is clearly favoring the Heat.
I don’t watch basketball but a lot of people I know who do have said the officiating has been a bigger joke than normal.
I do think that Kevin Durant is the only shooting forward who could draw 4 fouls in 3 quarters in the NBA finals, and only against the Heat. Its like pro wrestling but less subtle.
What part of “IT’S LEBRON’S TURN” don’t you people understand?
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
You just made the list!!!!
It was even worse in the Eastern Finals. If your jersey was green and white, you could be called for a foul just by being in near proximity to a Heat shooter.
The number of content removal requests we received increased by 103% compared to the previous reporting period.
Company X was sued 14 times, we settled out of court for 12 of them.
The number of lawsuits has increased 220% compared to the previous reporting period.
Isn’t that Al Sharpton in the front row holding that banner? Is it physically possible for Rev. Al to be awake and silent for 30 blocks?
Maybe he had a sore throat.
The proverbial turd in a punchbowl.
NOT how you do science.
What, just because he’s waiting until publication to reveal everything? This seems like a refreshing change from “science by press conference.”
Um, waiting to even unveil which journal its been submitted to? What what the point of the article if not self-promotion?
OK, that’s true.
So, I don’t know if you have heard, but the IAAF which regulates international sports has put out testosterone levels for female athletes. This has understandably pissed off the feminist community, because how dare we say gender is anything other than the individuals choice or differentiate between man and woman.
While many comments have been stupid, and for a whole article of stupidity check out the ever reliable Joss Truit, this one takes the cake:
“if everyone should be tested then what about people who don’t clearly fit in one category or another?”
I guess they’ll get along with the other 5B people on this planet whose genetics have disqualified them from the Olympics.
That’s what the fucking tests are for, you idiot. Putting people who don’t clearly fit into one category or another into a category.
Sorry, Brett. not directed at you, directed at Joss.
I blame the squirrelz.
Joss didn’t write that, which I guess I should have made clear. That comes from Autostraddle, an expliciltly gay ladies site, which may be my new favorite feminist site, because they combine the retardation of feministing with a comments section, which gets even more retarded.
To put it this way: Jezebel isn’t considered a “feminist” website by most of the comments.

Maybe we should just go ahead and let some of these women try their hand at men’s sports against men, and not some bullshit kicker in football, let them see how they like going across the middle.
Have you seen the standard gripe? I’ve seen this a lot. “This isn’t fair. They don’t test men for testosterone.”
hehe
Except in baseball, football, basketball, track, swimming, etc. etc.
It’s called steroid testing.
Yes. Hence the derisive chuckle.
You folks are my conduit to current popular culture, and so I have to ask:
What’s with the pork pie hats? This weekend I saw two guys downtown sporting pork pies within 10 minutes. Is this some sort of emerging fashion trend?
I’m sure it has something to do with hipsters.
Yes, been a hipster thing for years AFAIK.
Unless you’re a trumpet player for the Skatastic All-Stars and actually on stage, it looks ridiculous.
It’s an identifying mark for hipsters -like a tattoo, or circumcision, except dumber.
I’m quite confident I won’t see any of these douchebags at the Rush concerts I’m planning to attend.
Apparently they’ve already sold out of the “cheap” seats for the Tampa show. I like them, but I’m not sure I want to shell out $80-$120 to see them live again.
Go to the show and scalp in the parking lot? Wait until the show starts and the scalpers unload inventory? They play for 2.5 hours so if you miss a song or two you haven’t missed much.
Really, if you miss the whole concert you haven’t missed much.
My-tastic all stars wear tams, beanies, baseball caps, newsboy hats, and kangols. We respect Charles Mingus’ valediction on the subject as the final say in pork pie hat fashion.
Let me guess, they also were wearing skinny leg pants and gay-ass shoes and hadn’t shaved for a couple days, right?
The one was wearing striped shorts (it is Phoenix).
Been around for a bit.
https://reason.com/blog/2011/08…..nt_2465825
Definitely a hipster thing.
There’s been way too much talk of hipsters and way too little talk of Firefly recently. How long has it been since I’ve been forced at gunpoint to post an Adam Baldwin pic?
Uh, check the Paleo diet thread, Kristen
Alabama’s anti-immigrant law has driven tens of thousands of Hispanics from the state ? and left some employers scrambling to fill positions for which legal residents are unqualified or uninterested.
Oh look at Reason crying market failure. Maybe those plant operators should increase wages to interest legal residents. Or better working conditions? I especially like this bit:
The growers pay $2 for every large box of picked tomatoes, and a worker must be able to pluck fast all day, bent over in the hot sun, to fill two or three dozen boxes.
Why do they have to be able to pluck fast all day? Oh, because the farm owner doesn’t want to pay more per box. Boo hoo for him.
He dismissed the argument, often made by critics of illegal immigration, that Americans might do the work if offered a higher and hourly wage.
LOL, Reason is getting into bed with some strange folks with strange ideas about supply and demand. Of course the farm owners are going to piss and moan about this, it makes their labor more expensive than they’d been getting away with in the past.
Goddammit Tulpa, there are people willing to do the work for that price, the government forcibly preventing them from doing so does not equal market failure.
This is one area where purist libertarian thinking fails, IMHO. Let’s say there are 150 million people employed in the US. Let’s say (not that any of this is possible) that libertarians win all elections in 2012, from President on down, open the borders and abolish all employment contracts. 150 million immigrants arrive, all willing and able to do those 150 million jobs for less money, and are hired, and the current 150 million are fired. Would this be a good thing? I can’t imagine how.
Kind of like what happened when the gasoline powered tractor allowed all those farmhands to be let go?
Gosh, that sure was terrible wasn’t it?
All those unemployed people being made available to work in other sectors of the economy. Just terrible….
I don’t see tractors as the same thing at all.
Kind of like what happened when the gasoline powered tractor allowed all those farmhands to be let go?
And that transition contributed to the great depression.
Unrestricted immigration is incompatible with a welfare-regulatory state that fiendishly prevents people from productive employment and pays them to remain idle.
This is another problem of course. Why pick tomatoes when you can sit around the house and live off welfare.
Of course it would be.
The total wealth produced in a system is a function of the total productivity of the system.
Unless you think the 150 million unemployed would mope and sit on their hands?
You’re veering into Krugman alien invasion territory here. If your theory is correct, it should improve our economic performance if 75% of the working population dies in a plague. Hey! A labor shortage to raise the wages of low-paying jobs! Hurray! We’re all rich!
Of course you can take this to extremes and make it look idiotic, which it would be in your example. It’s just that (in at least some ways) labor shortages are a good thing: it means rising wages and an incentive for technological advancement. If tomato prices go up a bit because farmers have to hire legal citizens for the work, the trade-offs seem worthwhile to me. Decades ago, before tens of millions of illegals arrived, summer farm work was a common thing for teenagers and even college students.
Tomato prices aren’t going to go up due to this. They’re paying $2 a box (and that’s for Americans — god knows what they were paying the Mexicans) which is nowhere near the price of tomatoes for the consumer. You could raise that to $10 a box without bumping up the consumer cost much.
I wouldn’t go nearly that far, but another dollar a box might well make people eager to work. $90 or more per day isn’t bad pay.
You act like wealth just springs up out of nowhere so long as there are enough people around.
What precisely are those 150M people going to do to gain wealth? Start digging ditches randomly across the desert?
Well, some of them may do something you haven’t even thought of yet. That’s the heart of entrepreneurship.
Some of them might even emigrate. There are many developed economies with negative birth rates that need skilled labor, e.g. Japan and Germany for one.
More faerie dust. Deus ex entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurs are great, but they can only succeed in small numbers. If 1/3 of the country is entrepreneurs… I hope they know how to pick a good cardboard box.
And we’re not talking about skilled workers, friend.
That’s why I said “some of them”. But those successful entrepreneurs will need employees, yes?
Not without an overabundance of wealth creation going on.
It has to come from somewhere. Simply doing something no one has thought of before isn’t necessarily going to make enough money for you to survive or to employ others.
Most of the big entrepreneur things these days (Facebook, Groupon, etc) are just leeching off of other legitimate enterprises. They don’t add any wealth creation of their own, and the world is finally wising up after being blinded by the hype.
I think we’re having a chicken and the egg argument here. Point is, when someone loses their job, they will look for another employer, start their own business, or enter abject poverty. Of course, as stated upthread, welfare provides a perverse fourth option which incentivizes not working.
For the sake of argument, let’s ignore the fourth option. The 150 million who lose their jobs aren’t going to sit in a corner waiting to die; they will find some sort of economic activity to sustain themselves. Much of this economic activity will generate wealth as new resources are exploited.
I maintain that wealth creation is an emergent process that is the result of the billions of individual economic transactions that occur daily within an economy.
Ahh, I see you have failed the vaunted LP purity test as well.
Only a few pass it. Hayek failed miserably, by the way.
Shrike’s knowledge of Hayek is surpassed only by his knowledge of facts and shit.
Why is there a fixed amount of jobs in your world? Wouldn’t doubling a population create a higher demand and hence the need for more production? And second, higher populations allow for more specializations which leads to better technology. Better technology leads to fewer people working in an industry pushing them into other and/or newly created industries that creates better technology and so and so forth until we are all happily unemployed or barely “working” at all while living in luxury. I mean, isn’t that the ultimate goal here?
Our fiend shrike claims to be a fan of Barry Goldwater*, yet he votes for Democrats.
Oh, and Banjos FTW.
*Hillary Clinton made the same claim in her youth.
Goldwater would piss all over the theocratic “conservative” cocksuckers like Jim DeMint today.
But the GOP would not allow Goldwater in the party today so no real pissing would take place.
But your fellow Team Blue members would characterize Goldwater as a vicious right-wing thug.
Thus, more disingenuous bullshit from you, shrike.
Goldwater would piss all over the theocratic “conservative” cocksuckers like Jim DeMint today.
He’d piss all over you too, but for some reason your delusions mean you spend all day massaging his prostate with your tongue.
That sequence explains why CA’s unemployment rate is negligible.
Yes, because we all well know that California is a perfect example of a free market economy and that there are no variables in existence that could be throwing wrenches in their economic system.
But unlimited immigration with welfare benefits will somehow improve those distortions?
Why then do the socialists favor it so much?
Except that cheap labor reduces the incentive for better technology: why build pumps and pipelines when slaves can carry buckets of water?
And no, a huge and sudden increase in population would not be good. There’s the old wisdom about “too much of a good thing.”
Really? A vague cliche is the best argument you have?
No, I have the powers of imagination and common sense. If you really can’t see how 150 million new immigrants displacing 150 million employed people at lower wages would have more negative effects than positive ones, you have neither.
You are imagining that jobs exist in a vacuum. 150 million people wouldn’t suddenly be displaced by immigrants; if you honestly can’t see the problem with that assumption, you should go hang out at Huffpo with your fellow intellectuals. Plus, the population suddenly doubling would double the demand for everything, and a free market would be able to cope with the increased demand very quickly.
I was creating a hypothetical. According to purists, more immigration is always better. I was positing an extreme case for the sake of a point.
why build pumps and pipelines when slaves can carry buckets of water?
Because slave labor isn’t anything like what you’re pretending?
It’s not terribly efficient, or cost effective, or high quality.
That’s a myth. Slave labor is quite efficient if you have ruthless enforcement and a good supply of slaves.
Contrary to the revisionist doctrine of many neo-confederates, slavery was NOT dying out in the South in the 1850s. It was booming. And the Nazis used slave labor to great effect during WW2 as well.
Wow, godwinned the thread while simultaneously trying to paint anyone who disagrees with you as a racist. Excellent substitute for an actual argument, Tulpa.
Dependence on slave labor is one of the main reasons both the confederates and the nazis lost their respective wars. Yeah, they both used slave labor to great effect alright, just not the effect they wanted.
The 20th century is very likely to be an aberration. There is absolutely no guarantee that technology will continue to advance at the fast pace you and I are used to. It’s not faerie dust.
Higher population only increases demand if there is enough wealth to go around. Demand also involves the ABILITY to buy at a given price, not just the desire.
Really?
You’re sure that’s what you’re going with?
Do you have a criticism or do you subscribe to the Pelosi school of argumentation?
And that’s where innovation comes into the picture. Innovation is what drives down prices so people can afford the products they desire.
You are just being obstinate.
So, then, why are they having trouble finding people who will do it for an even higher price?
^This.^ It’s not much of a crisis when labor shortages cause the wages of difficult, low-paying jobs to rise.
It’s a crisis for the (often quite brutal) factory farm owners deprived of cheap labor willing to work in awful conditions.
Who the cosmo outlets are presenting as poor victims and sources of unbiased information.
It’s also a crisis for the people who willingly worked for that income, who are now forcibly deprived of it, and for the people who purchase those products, who now have to endure artificial scarcity. Jesus Tulpa, are neocons as un-selfaware as liberals?
Alabama’s anti-immigrant law has driven tens of thousands of Hispanics from the state ? and left some employers scrambling to fill positions for which legal residents are unqualified or uninterested.
Nope, crying legislative failure.
Tulpa, it’s literally impossible for labor protectionism to be a good idea unless goods protectionism is also a good idea.
Why don’t we stop the flow of goods at the border, too? If we did that, domestic manufacturers would sell more! Yay! And they could raise their prices! More yay! And if people complain about paying higher prices, boo hoo for them, right?
No, if people complain about paying higher prices, we offset the higher prices with subsidies!!! It can’t fail!!!!
I think they are different things, in part because imported labor comes with cultural aspects, especially in our multicultural-worshipping times. To a purist libertarian, there would be no downside to importing 3 billion new citizens. The fact that it would wreck the economy and environment and produce a vast majority of voters without the slightest knowledge or interest in libertarian principles seems impossible for them to understand. There is more to life and culture than pure economics.
Goods only enter the country when someone wants to buy them, don’t cause trouble when they’re not being used, and don’t have their packaging consume social welfare services.
I’m totally for a guest worker program where a US employer can offer a job to any foreign worker (subject to criminal background check of course) if they’re willing to pay a 10% extra federal payroll tax on that worker’s wages and put up with frequent labor law compliance inspections.
Then we’ll see who really needs foreign workers and who’s crying wolf. ALWAYS follow the pesos.
The important line–
Does anything else need to be said?
I’ll bet if employers were to jack up the price they were willing to offer for the labor, they’s find willing sellers.
On the other hand, nobody can jack up their prices for one input to their manufacturing process if consumers aren’t willing to pay more.
In the end, people outside the borders of the state will continue making and selling stuff at prices the locals can’t match, and the locals will go out of business.
And the guys who passed the laws that chased their labor force to greener pastures will kvetch about the inexplicable collapse of their living standards.
I seriously doubt labor costs for pickers are a significant input to fruit prices. They’re paying $2 to pick a large box of tomatoes, nowhere even close to what we pay at the supermarket. Transportation from the farm to the market is probably a much more significant cost.
I’ve seen studies, which I’m too lazy to find now, showing the cost of seasonal labor to be 1-2% of the retail price of labor intensive agricultural products.
That seems plausible.
Talk about typecasting – John Kerry to play Romney in mock debate rehearsals.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..politics_p
both should feel insulted.
That’s not bad casting, though Kerry always seemed like much more of a pompous ass.
Do you know who I am? Do you know who I AM?!
I imagine Kerry will play himself. He can’t help it.
Funny how shrike would deride Kerry, whom he voted for and likely whacks off to while watching C-SPAN.
I voted against the Bushpigs but the damage had mostly been done.
In retrospect I am glad Kerry lost so the country could see the full effect of voodoo economics.
But you *enjoyed* voting for Kerry, which you fail to note.
Just as you creamed your Garanimals when you voted for Obama.
Hey, I voted against Bush, too, but I didn’t go the extra step of committing election-day sedition by voting for a Democrat for president.
New online Do Not Kill registry launched. I imagine drone strikes against the creators will be the next thing launched.
Is that thing safe to sign? I’m afraid it might be an Obama 2012 website link.
I’m not signing it. I figured it was an ICE plot.
Too obvious for an NSA spoof site… or IS it?
With both candidates stuck at around 46 percent, many observers assume that the GOP candidate benefits, since late-deciders usually break against the incumbent.
Seriously, is there any other way to interpret that?
If you’ve seen Obama in action for four years, and you still haven’t seen enough…to the point that you can’t quite bring yourself to tell someone on the phone that you like him? Then how the hell can anybody interpret those undecideds as anything but anti-Obama?
Okay, you’ve got a certain number of third party people out there, who are pulling for none of the above, but the only plausible hope Obama can hold for the rest of them is that they’re waiting to see if Romney pulls a Dean Scream or does something embarrassing.
Obama’s a sitting duck. He can’t run as a centrist anymore. A sitting lame ass duck.
What I’m hoping for, is a full-on tie between Shit Sandwich and Giant Douche. Imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth, let alone the looting and rioting from Team Blue’s Occutard Division.
I’m gonna stock up on beer and provisions just in case. Hell, I might even pray for that outcome.
Uh. As long as it isn’t FL. I work catty-corner to both the Capitol and the Supreme Court. Jesus, what a clusterfuck it would be getting to work. Plus, I’m not sure I could keep myself from just aiming at the sidewalk and mowing down as many chanters as possible.
Mowing down chanters: Feature, or bug?
BTW, a humorous article on HuffPo:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..r=Politics
Oh, deary. Me sides are splittin’ from all the levity.
Obama’s a sitting duck. He can’t run as a centrist anymore.
Is he even trying?
Did he EVER try?
Hope n Change are pretty centrist.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for could apply to anyone – even libertarians.
Yeah, he ran as a centrist before.
There’s no way he can run as a centrist now, which is why he’s doing things like sticking up for illegal immigrants.
He can’t differentiate himself on any centrist issues anymore. All the things Team Blue has been deriding as extreme–anti-public employee unions, anti-individual mandate, etc.–it’s all coming up roses for the Tea Party types now…
They’re anti-public employee unions in Wisconsin! If the Supremes make Obama look like an anti-Constitution radical by ruling his individual mandate is a radical pig, then how’s he gonna run as a centrist now?
What cover is left for him? What’s he got left to talk about that looks centrist now?
Nothing. Last time, he cut a deal with Hillary Clinton to make her Secretary of State if she’d concede the nomination–so he could concentrate on running as a centrist instead of playing for the radicals within the Democratic Party.
But Obama can’t run as a centrist anymore. That game is over. Now it’s divide and conquer on issues like immigration. That’s his only hope.
He cannot play to the center. He has to go full retard.
Wow! How delusional. Obamneycare is a centrist policy. Other than that he has cut taxes 17 times for small business and held spending to the lowest increases in 60 years.
You must mean that crazy lefty gay friendly stuff he has done.
Wow are you really that stupid or just a lying sack of crap?
Fuck you. Obamneycare was pushed by Heritage and the GOP in response to Hillarycare in the 90s.
I didn’t say it was any good – just centrist.
Gun control was centrist in 1993 too.
Wow are you really that stupid or just a lying sack of crap?
An ounce of this, a dash of that, it’s a cocktail that everybody can gag on.
Obamneycare was pushed by Heritage and the GOP in response to Hillarycare in the 90s.
What used to be centrist isn’t centrist anymore.
That’s the point, isn’t it.
TARP was centrist once. The stimulus was centrist once. You think he’d play for one of those again–and call it centrist?
In Wisconsin? They think public employee unions suck. That’s what’s centrist in Wisconsin now.
You know why Obama didn’t bother going to Wisconsin? Because he isn’t that stupid! He tweeted once about Wisconsin–and that was it!

…that’s the extent of his public support for Wisconsin’s government employees’ right to collectively bargain?
AH HA HA HA HA! *knee slap*
He’s so scared to be associated with what people thought was centrist two years ago, that they can’t even get him to go to show his face at a union rally–when their ability to collectively bargain is on the line?
How’s he gonna run on his own “centrist” record when he’s sooOOOOoo ashamed of himself?
Maybe people will forget what you did, Barry! …but I wouldn’t bet on it. The internet doesn’t forgive. The internet never forgets.
That’s nice. But you know what would be extra special nice? Publicly favoring drug liberalization while you are the chief of the Bureau of Investigation which oversees the Narcotics Division in a major US metropolis rather than waiting until you’re done overseeing the arrest and incarceration of who knows how many people instead of waiting until you have absolutely no fucking agency at all to act counter to the drug war in a meaningful way.
