She looks like one of those killer dwarfs from Phantasm.
I don't think I've ever seen that, but she sure does look creepy.
Here you go.
Here you go.
Hmm... seems that you can no longer post single image links.
Paid assassination is libertarian.

You can say that again! And again, etc.
So every lefty issue really does come down to fashion.
Yep.
Fashion and genitalia.
Seems like she could have killed two tofurkies with one stone right there at home.
Nothing says "WE'RE SERIOUS!" like having somebody's kid murdered.
She gave him instructions on how to perform the hit (use a silencer or a knife that can be concealed etc). I know she was only paying the guy $730 but damn, you should be able to assume your hitman can thinks those issues through for himself.
That's the kind of precautions you have to use when dealing with a non-union hitman.
You should also be able to assume that giving a stranger instructions by email on how to murder someone is an express ticket to the big house. So maybe you're expecting a bit too much of her.
She must think silencers work like in the movies. In real life, a silencer doesn't make a gun sound like a weak fart. It would still be quite noticeable to anyone nearby.
Not if you use a soda bottle silencer or fire through wadded up cloth.
This confused me also, not only because of the suppressor doesn't silence the sound but because she said she wanted to bring attention to the cause. Wouldn't a gun shot bring the attention she wanted so she could distribute her propaganda? I am beginning to think she isn't the brightest baby seal at the clubbing.
When it comes to murder, why farm out the work? It just complicates things. /psycho
Especially when she wanted to be there when the victim was whacked so she could distribute flyers and get arrested. The stupid here is just painful.
She was a libertarian.

Not libertarian, dumbass.
Does this mean rather won't be posting here anymore?
Obviously.
Maybe she was a libertarian.

Wow. I am thinking she could go for one of the Olson twins' cast offs. They might be desperate enough for attention to go for it.
There is't enough tequila in the world to make that level of control-freak crazy palatable.
Her vagina could be lined with mink and spit our solid gold coins and it still wouldn't be worth it.
Never underestimate what pathetic people will do to get on TV and in the tabloids.
With the price of gold these days?
Mink lined vagina and spits gold coins? I don't know, if she farts silver I might be interested.
Scratch that, she needs to piss fuel.
Nope. She still has negative value.
She could shit out the Higgs bosun aand warp drive technology, and I'd still run screaming.
My standards are lower than yours OKAY??!???!
Pissing fuel, spitting gold coins, a mink lined vagina, on a crazy beotch is acceptable to me. Besides she has all those annoying spoiled brats that probably have physiological problems, that has to be worth something.

GE "Forcing" Employees Into Chevy Volts
http://gas2.org/2012/02/20/ge-.....evy-volts/
geez - I blame the squirrels. Or my own stupidity.
Got this in the email:
A Follow the Money test drove the Chevy Volt at the invitation of General Motors.
For four days in a row, the fully charged battery lasted only 25 miles before the Volt switched to the reserve gasoline engine.
Eric calculated the car got 30 mpg including the 25 miles it ran on the battery. So, the range including the 9 gallon gas tank and the 16 kwh battery is approximately 270 miles. . . .
According to General Motors, the Volt battery hold 16 kwh of electricity. It takes a full 10 hours to charge a drained battery.
The cost for the electricity to charge the Volt is never mentioned so I looked up what I pay for electricity.
I pay approximately (it varies with amount used and the seasons) $1.16 per kwh. 16 kwh x $1.16 per kwh = $18.56 to charge the battery.
$18.56 per charge divided by 25 miles = $0.74 per mile to operate the Volt using the battery.
Compare this to a similar size car with a gasoline engine only that gets 32 mpg.
$3.19 per gallon divided by 32 mpg = $0.10 per mile.
I deleted (for length) a bit where they added the charge time to the trip time, which seemed a little skeezy, but what about the rest?
I assure you that you don't pay $1.16/ kWh, unless you are burning stacks of dollar bills to spin your turbine. $0.16 or so is on the high side on the east coast, in Cali you can get up north of $0.30 if you are a big user on block rates, and I believe the highest kWh charge in the country is in HI, where >50% of generation is oil boilers.
$1.16/kwh is really excessive even for CA.
Hmm. Not surprised. It sounded too good to be true.
This is what you get when you let lawyers do math.
Guilty!
But seriously, I'm guessing he meant to say that he pays $0.116 per kWh.
FWIW, my boss got to use a company volt for a few weeks, I got to drive it about 100 miles coming back from a meeting. The best thing I can say is that if I didnt know it cost $45k, I wouldnt have been wildly dissapointed if I got it as a rental economy car.
His daily commute is something like 15 miles round trip, so over a few weeks, he had averaged around 140mpg (it got ~30 mpg on the highway, and was totally gutless). IF gas was something like $6-8 a gallon, and IF a person had a round-trip commute that was exclusively electric, it could be cost effective IF that person didn't value driving enjoyment at all.
Those who do choose to drive the Volt will be reimbursed for public charging and home charging costs, in addition to gas uses.
How the hell do you track that? Calculate the difference between home electric bills before and after the purchase? Seems like an incentive to crank up the heat and A/C, buy a big-ass hot tub, and stick GM with the bill.
Looks like Dr. Drew made it all better, though.
Is brood Brit slang for vagina?
I don't think so, or they would have said "enormous" instead of "large".
'No. I'm too busy. I think a lot of my friends who are being constructive say "gosh, who are you going to meet that is going to be able to deal with eight kids?"' she said.
'My answer is always if they can deal with eight kids in our situation it probably will be the person. It will sort of prove it.'
That would have been your ex-husband, you moron.

Is she gonna say she confused it for the dog? Or the cat?
Two minutes? That's barely enough time to nuke the frost off a Lean Cuisine!
"Microwave power may vary."
She and her giant forehead look so sane. How could this be?
"Pensioner bludgeoned to death by intruder after police failed to respond to 911 call because they were 'too busy with Occupy march'"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new.....march.html
ergo OWS bludgeoned the pensioner eh?
Or, maybe they facilitated the bludgeoning by monopolizing police elsewere who could have otherwise responded to the intruder call.
Not OWS's fault in my book. First, the cops are the ones that decided to go all super-SWAT on Occupy Oakland. They should have just left those idiots to their own devices or arrested them all for violating private property rights. Instead, they chose to babysit them and crack the occasional head for kicks.
Second, the man should never, ever expect his personal protection to be handled by agents of the state. If he wanted to be secure in his property and possessions, he should have handled it himself. Expecting the police to protect you is a fatal mistake too many people make.
All true, and I agree. I just don't like how quick orrin is to excuse OWS idiocy because they're leftys.
And all abstract property (what isn't needed for direct personal survival) seeks to cause privation.
Amazing how I can type with all this Twinkie cream and Dorito dust caked on my fingers.
That's "creme" not "cream." The filling of a twinkie never got near a cow.
I'm sure the truck full of Twinkies passed a cow at some point on the drive.
But Occupy Oakland is dominated by violent thugs. They would not let workers leave a facility for several hours after surrounding it at one point. That is kidnapping.
effect causes teh cause. got it
But gun-grabbing liberals would say we still don't need guns to defend ourselves because we have the poliec to defend us.
Dial 911 and Die.
Not only do cops have no duty to turn up to a 911, you could be better off if they don't
Bitch wuz askin' for it!
What a weak-ass intruder. If I hit someone over the head once with a ceramic flower pot, I'd break it. Who was this guy, Screech?
I don't know, my wife has some large ceramic flower pots that have inch-thick sides and weigh a ton.
What the hell is a "Screech?"
This is a Screech.
And this is badass Screech.
Hello, Nurse!

"Christina, who recently appeared in Drive, I Don't Know How She Does It and is tipped to play Wonder Woman in a remake of the 70s series"
Whaaa???
To quote the Japanese, how will Wonder Woman not fall over?
Which makes her only hotter in my opinion.
She has a couple of great "assets," but again, the face ruins it for me.
If only she had been made a crew member on Firefly, we could be looking at six seasons and a (much better) movie.
Although apparently Joss' plan for Book's backstory was straight up retard.
I don't think Firefly got canceled due to a lack of hot chicks.
I heard that he was supposed to be a retired Operative. I fail to see how this is retarded.
The comics... tell a different story. Just don't read them.
"Having larger breasts has made it harder to shop, but I've learned to love it... But now I feel like everyone talks about my bust in public."
Unless she wants to leave the biz, she's going to have to get used to it--her boobs are basically her meal ticket now.
so my friends and I were all weird theatre people and everyone just hated us.
Having dated 2 chicks into theater, I can attest to this. They are just a different breed. I wouldn't say hate-worthy, but different.
I was Drama Club president in high school and I got nothing but love -- especially -- being a straight guy in Drama Club -- from the Drama Club chicks.
So I had to go to a Marcel Marceau performance or two. Definitely worth it.
The drama clique in our school was like a cult--I've never seen so much worship for a teacher as I did with those kids. The teacher wanted the drama students to call her "Mom," which was just creepy as fuck.
Virginia GOP backs off plan to require women seeking abortions to be needlessly penetrated.
And they make ultrasounds look so happy on the TV.
Thank goodnes. You'd hate to see abortion reduced to something sordid.
like forced birth
derp de derpity derp
So you support abortion even in the 9th month? Up until the moment the baby's head crowns?
Thanks for letting us know where you stand.
yep its obvious that continual forced abortions are teh final solution.
What about post-partum abortions, orrin?
that's santorium
You're the one who brought up "forced birth." Are you now saying a woman can be forced to give birth? If so, when does that happen? And how did you determine that time?
reread abdul' post before cleaning ur room
I did. Turn on your sarcasm-meter (for abdul's post) before your mom comes in to wipe the drool from your chin and change your diaper.
Daily Show really abandoned the humor angle when addressing this issue the other night.
"Women's health issues" seem to do that to the left.
I thought the Daily Show made a pretty good point about the wrongness of the government requiring women to be raped in order to go through with an abortion.
Sounds like the VA legislature also is having second thoughts about that idiotic failure to understand how medicine works -- did no one at the hearings on this mention the rape aspect?
This is such utter bullshit.
Any surgical abortion is always preceded by an ultra sound. You know, to like make sure there's a baby in there before they start scraping away. It's like sound medical practice or something.
And yeah, an abortion is just like rape, but inserting a scraper through a vagina isn't.
The choicers would have us believe that the female legislator who introduced that bill was in some conspiracy to have women penetrated. The claim is that, in some cases, the required ultrasound would be invasive.
But abortion is invasive in *all* cases. The abortionist penetrates the woman's body with drugs or instruments to kill the child inside her.
The female legislator who introduced the bill simply wants women to look at the child before making a final decision to kill it. Also wants a determination of fetal age.
She agreed to a new version of the bill ruling out the possibility of any invasive ultrasound - which is more than the choicers are willing to do with abortion procedures. Why not a bill forbidding abortionists to use invasive procedures?
Eh, I think in abortion it is important to differentiate human personhood and human life. It is human, it is alive. The question is, I think, at what point are human beings people with rights and shit.
I mean, I think the Shciavo thing is another facet of this same debate- at what point could you remove that woman's feeding tube even though you lacked her explicit consent.
The judge claimed to have proof, from Schiavo's pre-death statements, that she wouldn't want to be on a feeding tube - so he thought she had effectively consented. For those who believe the judge, it's about honoring her request (and deciding that withholding hydration isn't suicide).
There's no such issue with abortion. The fetus doesn't make out a living will expressing a wish to be killed.
And if we say that the government can designate a category of living human beings without human rights, then we have arbitrary outlawry - for which King John got into trouble and which Magna Charta supposedly prevented.
Plus, most abortionists use the penetrative form of ultrasound, meaning that they do two invasive procedures. But the choicers don't work themselves up into a lather of indignation about that.
men who stare at zygoats
Men like Jill Holtzman Vogel, who introduced this bill in Virginia?
You really need to come up with a new set of stereotypes.
those virginina theocrats are running over the water for the weeds now
If you mean they're retreating, they're only adding language specifying that the ultrasound need not be invasive. They're not giving up on the idea of having women look at the fetus before killing it.
no prob, i looked at the iraqis i shot.
and by 'shot' i mean masturbated to the thought of
But Schiavo didn't have a living will. Yes, the judge based it on some evidence, but given the court fight, it is pretty clear that there was room for differing opinion, so we are back to the idea of arbitrary outlawery.
I'm certainly not a fan of what they did to Schiavo, but they *claimed* to be honoring her wishes.
Like you say, the evidence was somewhat dubious. In the circumstances, I agree she was arbitrarily outlawed because they were all too eager to assume she had asked to die.
It went beyond outlawry in that the judge forbade the feeding.
Eduard, I guess my opinion is also in part influenced by watching my own grandfather go through Alzheimers, and knowing that 40 year old him would have shot 85 year old him, but 85 year old him lacks the marbles to know that.
That sounds horrible - and it's why it's not the same thing as killing a fetus. How do we know what a fetus would want at 40, other than letting him/her live that long?
ask ur fetus eduard. you have a fetus dont you?
I was a fetus, just like you were.
Why not have a deal where all the men *on both sides* remove themselves politically the abortion issue? Meaning that all the prochoice men who want their girlfriends to be able to have abortions would have to butt out of the process.
And the prolife women like Jill Stanek, Charmaine Yoest, Jill Holtzman Vogel, etc. etc. Would go toe-to-toe with the choicer women, and we'll see who wins.
fine w me since most women support choice.
"because of heightened pro-life sentiment among [men and women], women as well as men are more likely to be pro-life."
http://www.gallup.com/poll/118.....-time.aspx
Also, can you imagine the size of the welfare state needed to deal with a world without abortion, where everyone who didn't want a kid just gave it up for adoption?
This requires a lot of assumptions.
It requires that we assume adoptive parents would end up with the kids on welfare. There are plenty of potential adoptive parents, with stable home lives, waiting to adopt kids and try to give them a good productive life.
And you can call it a coincidence or not, but the welfare state expanded considerably at the same time that abortion was getting legalized.
I'm just saying that even in the current system, not all kids put up for adoption find homes. Now imagine adding tons of kids to that.
From the purely economic point of view, I don't think these kids would be a net burden - they could even get jobs and help postpone the bankruptcy of Social Security, Medicare, etc. And there *are* parents wanting to adopt - sometimes they go abroad if domestic adoptions are held up.
Anyway, it comes back to personhood - how can we kill someone to keep them off welfare? And at one age would this stop being legal? Would it not be better not to have welfare at all, if the alternative is killing off the recipients? Or potential recipients?
A lot of the reason kids in America don't find homes is because it is prohibitively expensive and there is a herculean amount of paper work. As always, the better solution is stopping the welfare state and getting the government out of the way of things.
Of course this will never happen, thus the situation we find ourselves in.
But the anti-abortion people also imagine a world where premarital sex is shameful and rare. So they're at least consistent in their reality-denial.
You're painting with a broad brush. There are pro-lifers who are OK with sexual freedom/license so long as you don't kill your kids.
And there are some prolifers who, having taken sex ed, are aware of the link between sexual activity and pregnancy and want the former confined to marriage. But these are generally the same people who offer help and support to unmarried mothers, so I don't see the reality-denial.
The Santorum mindset is far more predominant in the anti-abortion movement than the mindset you describe, Eddie.
And I don't see how this supports the pro-choice argument. Unless the argument is that legal abortion is necessary in order to make premarital sex more available and convenient. If that's the argument, then we need to balance the rights of the fetus against the other factors involved.
Consent, dude. A violation of someone's body depends entirely on what they want done to their body.
I think that calling it rape is stupid. But the law is even more stupid. Abortion is legal. People should be able to use legal services on their own terms.
"abortion is legal" states the problem, it doesn't answer it. Prolifers don't dispute that abortion is legal - that's the very thing they complain of.
Virginia pro-lifers are trying to go as far as the federal courts will permit to restrict abortion. They are also trying to get the federal courts to back off from the issue so it can be made illegal.
...and there's always the point that abortion does something to the baby's body.
Yes, we disagree on the moral status of the fetus. We already know that. Do you want a fucking medal for pointing it out again?
My point is that the whole purpose of the law was to make it more unpleasant, difficult and expensive to get an abortion. If you think it should be illegal, then you need to try to overturn Roe v Wade and then pass a law in each state, not to try to annoy people who want abortions. This is an inappropriate use of law.
I thought the daily show abandoned the humor angle at about the start of the run up to Bush's second term.
Kaley Cuoco is still hot:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvs.....azine.html
Now this is hotness I could get behind.
I see what you did there.
Pics don't show her ass -- I'm thinking there's a reason they avoided that particular camera angle. She might have a bony little okole. =P
She really wants to date a pirate - or a Higgs bosun.
Meh.
Why do I think there's an eating disorder at the bottom of this?
"Authorities say 9-year-old Savannah Hardin died after being forced to run for three hours as punishment for lying to her grandmother about eating candy bars. Severely dehydrated, the girl had a seizure and died days later. Now, her grandmother and stepmother face murder charges."
Were they pageant moms?
I'm just saying, making a kid run for 3 hours to burn off a candy bar and then not letting her drink her fill of water after seems like one or both of the authority figures has an adversarial relationship with food.
I blame Michelle Obama.
Either that or they are total cows who wanted live through their daughters. The pageant and dance moms tend to be fat cows who torture their daughters about being thin.
I'm with Mom and Gram.
Not water, that would probably be bad. Some Gatorade or the like would be better.
After running for 3 hours, any sort of liquid would be good. 9 year olds probably won't be hypoelectrolytic from just one session of drinking as much water as possible. It usually only happens to runners who spend a couple weeks overhydrating.
The article said she had a very low sodium level.
"But Brawndo's got what plants crave. It's got electrolytes."
I guess no one told them that ugly women are beautiful too.
Wait, she "died days later." Doesn't that mean the running and dehydration didn't kill her, but the resulting illness did.
Or does that defense only stand up when a cop tazering a woman causes her head to smack the concrete so hard she ends up a vegetable?
I had to read that a couple of times. She went into a seizure the night of the run and then died a few days later, never regaining conciousness.
So did the lady who hit her head after Tubbo The Pig tazed her because she was running away from him (cuffed). But he will face no discipline.
Different jobs have different perks.
Cooks often eat for free.
Salesmen often get a company car.
Law enforcement officers get to commit acts of callous violence that would land mere citizens in the slammer.
It's all about the perks.
To quote Marky Mark in The Departed
"Some guys just sign up so they can put a nigga's head through a plate glass window"
This story bothers me a great deal, as I have a daughter roughly that age who is an avid runner. So while I don't support the death penalty, it's stories like this that keep me from thinking of death penalty supporters as neanderthals.
Put them on a treadmill inside a sauna until they die. It is just fucking horrible. I don't like people like that breathing my air.
No, that's cruel and unusual.
Life imprisonent, no parole, sentence to be served in the general population at a male prison.
"Barba is now the second weapons trafficker who had been under ATF surveillance to be linked to Zapata's murder. As CBS News previously reported, ATF had also been watching suspect Otilio Osorio during the time he trafficked a different weapon used in Zapata's assault. Records show ATF watched on Nov. 9, 2010 as Osorio, his brother Ranferi and Kelvin Leon Morrison transferred a cache of illegal weapons to a confidential informant but failed to arrest the men at the time."

Tell Walmart: Don't sell Monsanto's potentially toxic GMO sweet corn
http://act.credoaction.com/cam.....mo/?rc=tw2
"Walmart, wrote to us that "nothing is more important than the safety and satisfaction of our customers." But that's just not consistent with selling this unlabeled GMO sweet corn, which contains three genetic modifications -- including the insecticide Bt -- and hasn't been tested to prove it is safe for humans to eat."
What does 'unsafe' mean? People have been eating GMO crops for years without any sort of syndromic effects being brought to light by the CDC, which is actually pretty good at analyzing that sort of shit. It doesn't get much more safe than that.
I've determined he's just trolling for "organic" foods.
I have friends who could point you to all kinds of scientific studies, but I prefer the strict logical approach.
Food is like a drug, and your body reacts to what you put in it. The generic wheat gene structure had a single digit number of chromosomes. After all these years of genetic modification, it has over a hundred.
We don't yet know what kind of subtle differences there will be in how our bodies react to the kind of genetically modified food we're eating - especially long term.
Meddling in what we don't yet understand generally has some nasty results, so I'm betting we don't know all the long term effects yet.
Yep. Our bodies certainly didn't evolve to be able to handle new foods they came across. If you're European, how can you eat a tomato or non-GM maize? You're not evolved for it!
But we have been cross breading and modifying plants for thousands of years. This is really nothing new.
The western carrot is orange because the Dutch are patriotic.
That is a very unnatural color for a carrot to be.
Whosa...whatsa...huh?
(Seriously, carrots aren't supposed to be orange?)
Food is like a drug, and your body reacts to what you put in it.
And, as with most drugs, your body experiences a beneficial reaction.
I have no proof, I just FEEL it must be bad, m'kay?
JEP, peddling the precautionary principle.
So, I guess JEP won't be using any pharmaceuticals when he gets sick. I hope he doesn't need surgery, because that can be a bitch without anesthesia. After all, it hasn't been proven that drugs and anesthesia don't have adverse health effects.
What do you mean it hasn't been proved?
We know anethesia has terrible health effects: that's why there are doctors who specialize only on how to administer them.
Anesthesia is hazardous as hell!
Under the precautionary principle, then, I suppose we need to ban anesthesia.
Get right on that, would you, JEP?
What I don't like about GMO sweet corn is that it is too icky sweet.
How about you buy tour food where you want to and eat what you want to eat and I'll do the same, and you won't have to get all worked up about my business.
^^^ Nailed it.
Monsanto has a revenue of over $10.5 billion per year, yet it is currently suing farmers in poor countries who make less than $500 per year.
Is there any evidence that it's -unsafe?-
Is there a point in there somewhere?
Hired goons would be a cheaper, more cost effective alternative to high-priced lawyers?
Homer: Who is it?
Goons.
Homer: Who?
Hired Goons.
Homer:Hired goons? [opens door]
I was just hoping for a link in there somewhere.
If I'm given more than one reason to protest a company I tend to get confused and patronize them anyway. Can you pick just one of these monumentally evil things Monsanto does for me?
Monsanto are pretty dickish when seeds from their GMO fields blow over into other farmers' fields and hybridize with their crops. They've been knows to go after those farmers financially.
Other than that, I'm pretty sure they've been a huge net gain for quality of life in the world.
Monsanto are pretty dickish when seeds from their GMO fields blow over into other farmers' fields and hybridize with their crops.
I thought GMO crops were sterile, to prevent that happening.
Life finds a way.
They're designed to be, but IIRC, some can still cross-germinate with other seed to form a tertiary seed that has some disease-resistant capabilities the original (unmodified) seed didn't have. Monsanto has (again, IIRC) been known to go after farmers in adjacent fields whose crops have benefited from this blowover. And, in their defense, they have laid out some pretty solid evidence that some of it was actually deliberately taken.
The archetypal case was one in Canada where they sued a farmer for using their seeds without a license.
He claimed that the seeds had contaminated his crop after they had blown into his fields and he became a cuase celebre.
Monsanto won the court case; the jury accepted their argument that the amount of seeds and their distribution were inconsistent with accidental windfall and that one must infer that they had been planted purposefully by the farmer.
Perhaps someone with access to legal judgements could look up the actual case.
The thing about the Monsanto genetic engineering; it works. The crops are hardier, cheaper to grow and more profitable for a farmer.
The thing is, if they blew into his field, he collected them and then planted them purposely, I dont see the problem.
Then again, I oppose most IP, so YMMV.
Let me put it this way, it wasn't a few seeds. IIRC it was most of his field.
But yes, if you want to keep your seed design secret, you gotta secure it.
On the other hand, if oyu secure it, and someone breaks in and takes your stuff... that's a horse of a different color.
The case is Monsanto Canada Inc. v. Schmeiser, 2001 FCT 256 and it's on canlii.ca. I tried to post this with a link but it got blocked as spam. Paragraph 92 is worth a look
Thanks to all who have provided a bit of clarity to what has been a muddy issue for me.
Seriously. I've never gotten all of the facts in these cases. I now have a better understanding.
Let's see if this .pdf of the judgemnent, from presumably Mr. Schmeiser's website, will take?
Here's a law article on the topic, from the Northwestern Journal of Tech. and IP.
I think this is the case Tarran is talking about:
Monsanto Canada Inc. v. Schmeiser, 2001 FCT 256 (CanLII)
The judge found on the balance of probabilities that the farmer did plant Monsanto's seed. Even if it had blown in from the field next-door, the farmer couldn't then do what he pleased:
Doesn't Monsanto have a duty to secure their genetic property if they actually mean to prevent others from taking advantage of it?
Yeah, I would think it's similar to a trade secret. Monsanto has an affirmative duty to protect their genetic material, and once it's released, too bad for them.
I call for violent justice to be brought against those who defile the Quran by misspelling it. Yay Quran!
The priorities here are facinating:
1) A guy throws acid in the face of a girl learning to read = no big thang.
2) A book gets disposed of improperly = must kill the infidels.
Some people have priorities that are sooooo wrong.
Burn a book? INFIDELS!
Stone a woman to death for infidelity? Awwwwright.
because women = books ?
women < books
Just keep fuckin' them books, orrin.
Well, we know he ain't fuckin' the women. Give Piss Facktory a break.
I only bone higher orders of life like books.
Which is why some of us do NOT think all religions are the same. Give me a hundred million Mormons or Buddhists or even Christians over the equivalent # of Muslims.
I can be peaceful, as long as you're NOT MAKING ME ANGRY!!
Sure they look cute now, but they're all just one heartbeat away from jihad (or its equivalent) if you break their taboos. Oh, see also, Spanish Inquisition.
So you agree that Islam supports a primitive culture equivalent to 15th century Spain. Okay.
I don't play favorites. They're all dangerous.
Yeah, it's why I get so pissed off at the cultural relavatists and the people who are anti-End of History.
Not all of Fukuyama's ideas in that were right, but the idea that Western culture was the best idea is pretty unassailable. To wit, one of my buddies is dating an Indian chick (her parents are first-ish generation immigrants). She's going to a wedding in India soon and is bitching how at 20, everyone is trying to get her married. I keep telling her that all she has to say is, "Well, my culture (American) doesn't burn widows... so that."
What's the percentage of ISAF casualties in Afghanistan that are caused by their own Afghani troops turning on them? Seems like everytime you turn around, another Afghani soldier or cop is spraying his American minders with automatic fire and grenades.
I wonder if this is truly about the Quran anyway. It may be that they're so tired of being occupied by foreigners that any little thing sets them off.
No no no I'm not claiming that it's right. I'm just saying that's the way people are like it or not. Ignoring reality doesn't make it go away.
I have a difficult time believing that we actually did burn any of their magic books, doesn't pass the smell test. Everyone in the military over there goes through sensitivity training on this and even the densest jarhead is well aware they are bat-shit crazy over this kind of imaginary outrage in these countries. I find it more than a little unbelievable that we would not only do this in a public setting but allegedly give the job to unsupervised potentially taliban leaning native workers to be done. Every base has a locked, secure, behind closed doors area for the destruction of top secret and sensitive items. Has no one considered that the taliban MIGHT be smart enough to scorch a few books and wave them around in public if that would result in exactly what is happening. I think the odds are pretty close to 100% this is a false flag.
Expect more of this in the future. Even President Karzai is demanding the people"responsible"for this be put up for a public trial/lynching. And this is from our pro-democracy/anti-taliban ally. Too bad this tactic isn't effective in this country. Imagine if a few Libertarian janitors could step forth with a few scorched copies of the Constitution from a federal building and this would immediately result in rioting in front of the Capitol Building and White House followed by politicians swinging from telephone poles or being tarred and feathered and run out of town by angry mobs.
My own military experience (admittedly a bit dated) is that the military can easily fuck up something like this, multiple times. But I don't claim that proves anything. I did see that the U.S. government has 'fessed up to it, but heh who can trust them? I've also seen that the Taliban is exploiting it, whatever the source.
In any case, my point is basically that it doesn't matter. I don't think it's right to kill people over a burnt book but a lot of people over there hate the foreigners occupying their country and it is probably quite easy to get them to riot. The notion that American troops should occupy the place more or less forever (which the neocons want) bumps up against that reality.
HP and Dell say Foxconn wage rises may trigger price increases
They have to pay more so to make up for it they're going to charge more? Say it ain't so.
I'm shocked, shocked to find out a company raises prices when their costs of production go up.
What's your next bombshell, Fernando? That the sun rises in the East?
yep 5 cents/hr to 10 is teh endz for capitalism
So why not a world-wide minimum wage of $100 an hour? Poverty eliminated in one stroke! Plus, everybody can buy a Volt! Win-win, I tells ya!
We'll settle for 100 cents/hr
Why settle?
Not settling = free-market treason
Two U.S. troops have been shot to death and four more wounded by an Afghan solider who turned his gun on his allies in apparent anger over the burning of Korans
OK, *now* can we GTF out?
But, we need a launch point for our next scheduled war, Iran.
Meh. From Iraq we can do both Iran and Syria.
No, see, what we need in Afghanistan is a direct sea access to the country. Overthrowing the regime in Iran is just the next step in the Afghan conflict. Once we establish direct sea access and a solid overland route into central asia all will be well. /sarc

Monsanto's GMO Corn Linked To Organ Failure, Study Reveals
"Linked" doesn't mean what you think it does.
+1 unless they mean pouring it into a pipe organ affects the sound.
"Only 10 rats were measured per group for blood and urine parameters and served as the basis for the major statistical analyses conducted."
Yup, I'm going to starve the world based on the results of 10 rats.
They said "organ failure" not "organ failure in humans"
Well yeah, I'm just assuming the premise in good faith. Reading the reveals several major flaws. Considering the study itself says it's inconclusive, I take it with a grain of salt.
.. I take it with a grain of salt.
Gahh, NOOOO!!!1111!! The salt wil kilz us all!!111!! /retard
The best part of that is they later on mention that they need to have at least 17 animals to test to get to p < 0.05. Why only test 10 then?
The hippies doing this in their back yard probably couldn't afford 17.
Its weirder than that. If I read correctly, there were 20 animals of each sex in each feeding group, but they only sampled from 10 at random and extrapolated the results. But that doesn't make sense. Maybe there were 20, 10 of each sex. Because the authors actually seem to be doing the science and analysis parts according to pretty rigorous criteria. They aren't really over-reporting their results. idk.
The other 7 refused to participate.
That study is crap. By their own admission they don't take enough samples to have the statistcal validity. The only thing it appears to clearly demonstrate is that male and female rats have different liver and kidney functions on the axes they sorted on.
This problem can easily be solved by placing a label covering half the can that says, "The Surgeon General has determined that this product is not to be consumed by rats."
Actually, a grain that was nutritious for humans but poisonous to rats would be an awesome advance.
I suspect the Aussies would welcome that.
That and the bugs that kill Cain toads.
Cuz male and female rats have different liver and kidney functions, ya know.
I'm just sayin... If you look at the 2 axis graphs you don't see clusters of GM and clusters of non-GM. You see clusters of male and clusters of female. The leading indicator they measured of differing liver function they measured was having a y chromosome.
Heroic federal agents defend themselves against radical and dangerous sect
If an average person came into your house pointing a gun at you, you would be well within your rights to defend yourself and drop the fool. But federal agents, nope, their immune. They can threaten the lives of unarmed people at will.
Budget watchdog says everyone but Paul would increase the federal budget.
THEY'LL BE NO BUDGET WHEN WE'RE ALL DEAD FROM AN IRANIAN NUKE. Or, I don't know, lawn darts.
Oh, No, Iran has developed Intercontinental Lawn Darts? We are doomed!!!!!

Morons like you kept trying to catch them in your mouth. Much to our misery, you failed at even that task.
sez who?
"the darts were banned for a reason"
Most things are done for a reason. That doesn't mean it is a good reason.
Exactly. An Iranian nuke will CHANGE EVERYTHING?.
UK submarine data de-classified to aid climate scienceBy Paul Rincon,Science editor, BBC News website
The UK Ministry of Defence is to de-classify submarine data to help shed light on climate change in the Arctic.
This, he explained, could tell scientists a lot about how the Arctic is likely to change as it becomes more seasonally ice-free.
Some computer models forecast that the Arctic could be completely clear of summer sea ice within a decade, though others recently published say there may be high years and low years en route to the final disappearance.

The irrepressible Dick Morris on Fox & Friends this morning when asked to say who won the debate last night:
"Romney won and Santorum lost... and Gingrich came in a close second."
The hosts moved on quickly after, implicitly confirming that it was a 3 person debate.
How can you watch that show? That helmet haired blond they have on there drives me up the wall. They used to have good looking hosts. But they have settled on that annoying former Miss America and they just won't change.
How can you watch that show?
Scarborough must have been on commercial.
I agree with everything you're saying. I made three increasingly poor, Todd Margaret-like, decisions.
1) Turned on OReilly last night to see if he was talking about the debate so I could whine about the lack of Ron Paul coverage.
2) Didn't change the channel before going to bed so Fox & Friends was on when I woke up.
3) Didn't turn the channel quickly enough this morning.
If they would get rid of Gretchen Carlson, I could almost stand to watch it. I didn't mind it when they had ED Hill on. But Carlson is just annoying.
I actually watch the weather channel in the mornings. They have a little bit of news. And in a real break from the past have good looking women.
No one is worse than that utterly doltish tall blonde guy.
On where?
Weren't we talking about Fox & Friends?
Yes. Now I know who you mean. And yeah he is annoying. But not as bad as Carlson.
The morning weather woman for Univision is MILF. I would superscript a 10 after MILF but html tags not working today??
Univision only hires hot women. The morning women on the Weather Channel, Stephanie Abrams, has a real geek charm about her.
Heh, sounds like my routine too. I always check out O'Reilly and F&F. Gives me a good excuse to keep hating those people.
Do you forget how annoying O'Reilly is? I haven't turned him on in years. But I figure that thinking he is the same populist crank blowhard he has always been is one of the safer bets I can make.
I went to see him live recently. He's a pretty funny person while not on TV.
Like most things on TV, he probably has an act. It pays the bills. So I can't say I blame him. Just don't watch him.
Sometimes I just like to get my hate on. The best time is around Christmas when Fox News goes all "War on Christmas".
I only watch O'Reilly when Dennis Miller is on. Otherwise, I have no use for the show.
But, in the interests of being even-handed, I force myself to watch about five minutes of MSNBC.
Then... I puke.

She doesn't need to. Just show up and stand there, looking awesome.
Maybe Dollhouse would have lasted longer if she could act.
Probably not. If my wife is any indicator of the average public perception of Things-They-Know-Nothing-About-But-Have-An-Opinion-On-It, and I can usually count on her to be that, the show was all about whores, white slavery and the subjugation of women.
Is that from Jezebel?

Yeah, these guys are playing a very dangerous game with the rest of the world now. It's like they haven't been paying any attention at all to what's been going on these last ten years or something. If they can't see what's coming, they're not nearly as smart as I thought they were.
Maybe, but they're showing huge brass balls by doing so. After their crackdown a couple years ago when the country nearly had another revolution, while the rest of the world basically went "eh, whatever," the regime seems to think it can do whatever it wants without serious repurcussions.

Completely OT: Is the Game of Thrones series on HBO worth watching? The first season is coming out early March. Some time ago, I read the first two book of the series - will I be disappointed by the changes made for the series?
The reason I ask - I've seen some recent movies and even series, where the scriptwriters made such massive changes to book, that it made me wonder why they even bothered to use the novel in the first place.
It's not perfect, but as adaptations go, it's about as good as they get. The tone is pretty dead on and the casting is great.
I tried to watch Game of Thrones and this is what happened
The Oatmeal is hilarious.
Heh. Exactly what I went through looking for it. I was kind of surprised that you couldn't subscribe to HBO without having cable first.
I didn't grab pirated copies, just decided to wait for the DVD's. I'm not surprised that people take the easy route, though.

"It's frustrating to see advertisers and toy manufacturers decide what should interest girls and what should interest boys, but it's also interesting to see how they do it."
http://jezebel.com/5887428/let.....at-happens
That's probably the best-written Jezebel article I've read in a while. It's short, pointless and devoid of rabid anti-man speech. How it got past the editors is beyond me.
I especially like the first comment, which laments girl toys, then goes on to heap praise on a few girl toys.
I was actually reading about this a few months ago on a non-crazy website. Lego did a ton of market research with actual children instead of academic feminist harridans. That's why they're selling well. So while it may not be what people at jezebel want, Lego figured out what children want.
So blame the kids for wanting something other than what approved feminist orthodoxy thinks they should, don't blame Lego.

Tesla Motors, almost a member of the $500 million Federals Dineros Club, tells owners of bricked Roadsters to cough up $40K for new batteries or pound sand.
Teslaites had a fit when Top Gear branded it a piece of junk that couldn't get around their track without breaking. Turns out Top Gear wasn't lying.
Tesla's arrogance in this situation is absolutely mind blowing. What could possibly go wrong with being such galactic dickheads?

They were a bunch of tech geeks that got into the car business. Gee building cars is a bit different than writing code. Who would have thought such a thing?
That is the problem with amateurs versus professionals. An amateur thinks that because he can do something well in his garage in a single project, he can make a living doing it. It turns out making a handmade one off, be it a car or a meal, is a whole lot different than making thousands of said thing each made to the same exacting standard. The latter is a completely different task in the former. It is why cooks are not chefs and backyard tinkerers, no matter how smart, are not manufacturers.
Say what about garage inventions?
Steve didn't personally manufacture those things. That is a different problem entirely.
Nope. Woz did.

It now seems possible that non-diplomatic options?namely, arming the rebels or using Western airpower to weaken the regime, as we did so successfully in Libya?might be the only way to halt the killing. Should the United States act on these options?
http://www.tnr.com/article/wor.....DliZjYyNjQ
The correct answer is no, not at this time.
Some of the arguments against arming the rebels or deploying airpower in Syria are of the old, cynical, hard-hearted variety; but plenty of others are sober and worth taking seriously.
They won't take smart, strategic thinking seriously because it's supposedly old, cynical or allegedly hard-hearted?
If we'd had a little more old, cynical, "hard-hearted" thinking on Iraq, we might have avoided the whole mistake.

As soon as the door shuts, she yells: "I have to POOP," like a proud potty-trained toddler. This has clearly been on her mind for some time?when I'd originally asked if I could hang out in the room while she got dressed, she'd responded, "Are you going to write about how I pooped, ate nachos, then pooped again? Men won't like that." Her girlfriends are instantly behind her in this effort, no pun intended. Lady Tragik encourages, "C'mon, girl. Poop thug life," and throws up the West Coast sign. Avian starts pumping her arm, in a sports-stadium chant: "Number two! Number two! Number two!" Kreay pumps her arm too, like an athlete encouraging the cheers. Then Avian puts on a mock-serious tone: "You prairie doggin' '?"
Kreayshawn cracks up. I ask, "What's 'prairie doggin'?" Just trying to be a good reporter. She stops before the door to the bathroom: "You know how a prairie dog kind of pops his head out and then pops it back in?" She bends her spindly arms up like prairie-dog paws and demonstrates with her head bobbing up and down. "That's what my shit is doing." The bathroom door slides only halfway shut."

I'll believe it when someone actually tests it.
Do you seriously think the TSA is going to let you take a gun on the Space Shuttle?
Little known fact: Soyuz spacecraft launching to the ISS are armed with at least one short barreled shotgun and ammo. This has been the case ever since a botched landing sometime in the 1960s or '70s when a capsule landed far off course and rhe crew was surrounded by wolves.
The article shows this three-barreled thing.
The Soviet space station Salyut 3 had a modified aircraft cannon emplaced as a "self-defense" gun. Per the wiki, I guess they fired it in orbit 2 or 3 times.
Remember when using airpower on other countries was considered an act of war?
Only when the Nips do it.
Question of the day: who here would vote for a Romney/Paul ticket?
I'm pretty conflicted. As much as I dislike Mittens Romneybot, I would like to see RP with more of a chance to get his message out, and a lame duck Obama admin makes me nervous.
If Romney took Paul, you would have to hold your nose and vote for him. I despise Romney. But my God, an actual Libertarian as VP. That is unthinkable. I don't care if the job is mostly going to funerals.
Think about it - the Senate proportions are close. Ron Paul gets to break ties and oversee/influence the Senate = awesome. I'd probably have to vote for that ticket, as much as I love Gary Johnson. If one of the Paul's aren't on the ticket, I see GJ taking 7-10%.
I'd vote for a Romney/anybody ticket over Obama. Romney/Paul would be cool, though. Romney/Rand Paul - even better.
No, I'd prefer Ron - Rand should stay in the Senate and work with his VP dad to introduce legislation. Then again, Rand is probably more popular amongst the GOP base and would improve the chances of victory.
I'd vote for Dale Peterson over Obama.
I'm glad they cut the part where he puts the horse down.
It would be awkward working at the same place as Dad. The other Senators would probably haze me harder, too.
I'd vote it and hope Mittens suffered an unfortunate event.
I'd vote MR/RP
It will be Romney/Santorum if it isn't Romney/Rubio. Sorry.
In your hypo, I'm still voting Johnson though.
I would. I wouldn't enjoy it, but I'd do it.
Banjos and I have been going round and round on this Romneybot-Paul ticket thing. She thinks there's just no fucking way Paul would do it, but I disagree.
Look, the man ain't getting any younger, and the time to strike is when the iron is hot...which is right now. He's going for a brokered convention and is amassing delegates as we speak to end up #2 at the convention. Now there's no way he can control the majority of the delegates, but he can pretty well keep anyone else off the ticket he wants, meaning he's going to get the VP nod if he wants it (unless Assgrease somehow ends up with more delegates than him and Romneybot). And Rand is just too young to go on the bottom half of the ticket.
Team Blue can't say shit about his age (not with Biden), they can't say shit about his experience like they did Palin, they can't bring up the military, they can't dig up any dirt except the newsletters, which are almost old news by now. He's a fundie that also is for personal liberty. Face it, he's about the perfect VP candidate: attack dog on policy with zero personal baggage.
And Romneybot is the kind of wishy-washy pol who will follow the populist sentiment, which is leaning further and further in the way of small-government, tax-cutting, war-ending and freedom-oriented. And that plays into Paul's wheelhouse.
I'll vote the Romney-Paul ticket in a minute, because Paul would run that White House. And we will finally have a seat at the table the two-party system has tried to keep us away from.*
*Also, there's no guarantee Rand Paul will ever gain the traction his father has, and there's no guarantee our nation will be as receptive to libertarian principles when it becomes "his turn."
(900 character limit is way too short, btw)
Of the millions of characters you've posted here, how many of them did not repeat something you've said a thousand times already? Character limits force you to focus on essentials.
Or keep posting till you're done...
You seem to forget that the VP is a mostly ceremonial position with no power.
In a narrowly-divided Senate and with a President that will act like Clinton (as far as being a populist), I'd have to strongly disagree.
That, and he'll be able to give speech after speech about libertarian ideals with that big seal in front of him...and soldiers or civilians cheering wildly behind him. Again...it's about perception.
If he was the bottom half of the ticket, other Republicans could no longer call him crazy.
So, do you guys call each other "Banjos" and "Sloopy" in person? That would be cute.
Rand is just too young to go on the bottom half of the ticket.
?
I think he has more than adequately demonstrated his "seriousness".
Maybe to you and I, Brooksie, but this is about perception, not reality. And the media won't give a first term Senator a free pass unless he's also a minority from a political machine like Chicago.
The MSM tried giving a free pass to John Edwards, a first-term Senator. But it turns out the MSM doesn't own the narrative any longer.

NH man who used gun to nab criminal has charged against him dropped
Good. Now, will the officers involved in his arrest be whipped, tarred, and feathered?
Fuck! I really wanted this to go to trial so the law could be nullified by a jury or overturned by some popular revolt. All this means is that the next time, the cops and DA will be more discrete in charging someone.
In this case, I don't think that there is a law that needs to be nullifed. He was charged with reckless conduct. So it was really just a poor application of a law. The cops overstepped and the DA saw it. Seems like things worked mostly the way they should.
but subsequent facts discovered since have led me to believe that such a charge under these circumstances would be unjust
What he reallly meant to say is that after talking to the dipshit arresting officers, he realized this was a waste of time.
Or, he realized prosecuting this guy would kill his career and/or his conviction rate, which is all he gives a fuck about.
And lest we all get too excited, there's still a shitty law on the books and those who wear badges are still treated differently than the rest of us when put in the same situation.
How's the wedding planning going? Did you get your monocle?
I get charley horses once in a while in the sack, and there ain't no fucking way to hide them. So, man up and deal with it.
