    7-8 y/o kids taking drugs to stop their physical development because they think they are really a girl? Any parent who lets that happen is a fool.
    
    And the whole "either you love your kids or you care about what others think" is a load of crap. Letting kids make those type of decisions when they can't even do multiplication tables is doing them a disservice. What happens when they change their mind in a year or two...like kids are known to do about everything? What do you do? More drugs to accelerate the normal physical development you have been stalling?

      The mother spoke of her child's feminine nature from his/her birth. I think parent's instinctually know their children are gay or in rare transgender cases but deny it for their sake, not the childs.
      
      Obviously no responsible parent or physician would alter identity till they were certain, and then only proceed slowly with reversible steps.
      
      I don't know any trangendered people but the gay kids I do know saw themselves as so between kindergarten and around ten years old.

        I can't remember a time in my life that I didn't like girls. Still, it's the hormone treatments that bug me. Let the kid dress however he or she wants and just move to a town that is tolerant of them. But performing hormone treatments on a prepubescent child is just wrong because that child lacks the mental faculties to make a lifelong decision at that age.

        But I have 2 data points for the poll: I knew I liked boys pretty early on, and my gay friend said he knew he liked boys as far back as he could remember(e.g. always).

  I don't pass judgement on situations like that, since we can't really know what's going on with the person involved. Also, the article says Wyatt/Nicole started dressing like a girl in 4th grade, but didn't start hormone treatment until later, apparently.

  What most interests me is that they are identical twins. So we know the gender-switch was caused developmentally. Of course, that could mean anything from non-directed brain structure formation to psychological development at a young age.
