Barack Obama campaigned for the presidency on the promise of a "net spending cut." But as Editor in Chief Matt Welch observes, the president is now pushing for a newly activist Washington after having just spent three years expanding the government's cost and scope. Progressives may like the sound of that, but for the rest of us—a majority of Americans—it just sounds like Obama is breaking his word.
