State Department Hires Former Cheney Aide to Replace Bleeding Heart P.J. Crowley

|

George W. Bush's third term continues apace: Yahoo! News reports that the State Department has replaced Clinton spokesperson P.J. Crowley (who was forced to resign for stating publicly that it was "ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid on the part of the Department of Defence" to psychologically abuse Wikileaks suspect Bradley Manning) with Victoria "Toria" Nuland, a "former principal deputy national security adviser to then Vice President Dick Cheney."

After resigning, Crowley wrote a piece for Alternet explaining his decision

Based on 30 years of government experience, if you have to explain why a guy is standing naked in the middle of a jail cell, you have a policy in need of urgent review. The Pentagon was quick to point out that no women were present when he did so, which is completely beside the point.

The issue is a loss of dignity, not modesty.

You can be sure that Nuland will keep such concerns to herself, assuming she shares them at all.
