5 Conspiracy Theories That Turned Out to be True
Via Instapundit, former Reason intern and current Daily Caller-ite Amanda Carey lays out "Five times the conspiracy theories turned out to be true." The least disturbing of this Pentateuch of Paranoia? John Edwards' love child.
This sees like a good place to drop a little Parallax View montage action. More on the flick here.

But the GLOMAR story has an even better and deeper conspiracy theory.

Yeah. The Eldritch Gods find us tasty and good with ketchup.

That looks good.
The Laundry series, of which JM is the second, are great sendups of different coldwar spy novelist styles mixed with lots of tech-geekery and Lovecraftian horrors. Can't say enough about the awesome of the series.
Huh. Have to check that out.
I'll second Brett's reccy. Fun stuff. Dilbert meets James Bond meets Cthulhu.
So, uh, when the fuck are we gonna get our Morning Links?
chill, get a cup of coffee, they have til 9:05AM, then it's late.
If those morning links aren't on my desk by 9:06, you're fired Gillespie!!
Also, we're going to need those TPS reports by this afternoon.
So I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday, ok? That'd be great; thanks.
These are your Morning Links.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Ok, now, WHERE ARE MY BREAKFAST LINKS!?
sincerely,
waffles
my entire productivity scheme is predicated on spending my first 45-90 minutes at work reading articles about the golden girls. C'mon reason!
Its a conspiracy to keep Longtorso down!
He got too close to the TRUTH!!!
You can't keep a good Golden man down.
damnit! My whole day is queered by this anti-golden links conspiracy. I better just vomit all over my desk and go back to bed...should'nt have eaten that danish, bleh.
A+
Everyone knows that list was put together by the Jews to hide the fact that they're behind every war for the last two hundred years.
The Jews are just a front for the Masons who are a front for the Trilateral Commission.
Meh.
They've got nothing on the Duodecahedron Commission...cue manical laughter...buhhahaha
Pikers.
Reverse vampires.
and the trilateralists are a front for the illuminati
The illuminiati was a red herring ruse by the vatican!
who were, in turn, merely a red herring for the saucer people of Planet X.
Planet X was simply a ruse to throw suspicion away from Plan 9.
Allow me to put my tinfoil hat on and point out that the bin Laden raid happened just as the heat was on the White House for punishing a reporter that filmed a protest at a high dollar fundraiser. That is all.
Less tinfoily is when the death of bin Laden met with indifference and muted disbelief in the greater Muslim community, the assassination was "confirmed" by a spontaneous demonstration of outrage by the Pakistani Taliban ISI presser.
whoops - aQ, the taliban, the wives & childerns all say he's dead
Why does my Firefox 4.0 scream, shit the bed and die whenever Nick offloads a story? Do I need a better browser? Help me.
Because the Koch brothers donate to Reason and Gates asked them for a favor.
cause it's pussy software...
because it isn't offloading a story it's looking for live pron. You aren't stupid enough to offload with a device in your bed are you?
How do you think they pay writer's wages on this website?
Wow, pretty amazing stuff when you think about it.

Is it Balko's day to do the Morning Links?
+1
You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall!
Oh great; give the Troofers and Deathers and Birthers more fodder to convince themselves they're right.
As long as they're too distracted to notice us, let them squabble!
MWA HA HA HA HA
Well, it's a well known fact, Sonny Jim, that there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows
You! Boy! Heed! Get up and get the papers if you can lad.
Yeah, remember when Mike Myers was funny?
Also, that reminds me of another great, obscure 90s sequence:
"Who's after you?"
"I can't tell you that!.... Bill Gates. He already has half my brain. I fell asleep at Laguardia airport."
its always funny in philly aint funny anymore either
Dead Man on Campus, but nice try dumbass.
stOOOOOOOOOOpid is strong in this one...
sorry u still like it the predictable humor on the show

Round these parts we just call 'em "The Five Jew Bankers".
So, do we wait for Links, or do we just turn this post into our de facto morning links?
Enough is enough! I'm going to compile some motherfucking morning links. Give me a minute.
try refresh, it's there
And here are today's Morning Links:
Record Floods Rock Memphis.
The Gates is Coming! Microsoft to buy Skype for 8.5 billion.
More to come...
Greece to undergo yet another audit.
Ahnold separates from wife Maria Schriver.
This Only two links thing is killing me.
UN seeks pause in Libya fighting
And, last but not least, Slate shows us a world without the New York Times.
Reason- I TOOK YER JERB!!!
Honestly, hard to call any of these conspiracy theories. Almost all of them were simply "secret" actions that became known within a short time of them happening.
A better title for the article would have been "5 not-so secret secrets"
Can someone with knowledge of Adobe Illustrator critique this?

If one conspiracy is true, then they ALL must be true! At least that's what the nutters say.
I ran across one last week. The *first* piece of "evidence" he had was the Manhattan Project. Huh? Apparently since the government could keep the Manhattan Project secret (they didn't by the way) then it follows that 9/11 had to have been an inside job because the government is keeping the truth secret.
Number 2 falls a bit short of the mark. The fact that van der Lubbe was pardoned doesn't prove that the Nazis were responsible for the fire -- it just proves that if, like the Nazis, you're evil enough, people will believe anything about you, and give your enemies the benefit of the doubt.
I think there's actually greater cautionary value in the story if van der Lubbe _did_ act alone. More of the worlds evils are the result of opportunism than of conspiracy.
