Getting a Brazilian
The Brazilian equivalent of the bar association has asked law enforcement to investigate law student Mayara Petruso for statements she made on Twitter and Facebook. Following the election of leftist Dilma Rousseff as president, Petruso said that allowing people in the northeast part of Brazil to vote will "sink the country." She also said to do the country a favor and "kill a northeasterner." The northeast part of the country is primarily black and mixed race, while the southern part of the country is more white, so the bar association says her comments may be racist. If convicted of making racist comments, Petruso faces up to five years in prison.
