Congratulations Radley.
If your story about corruption and cronyism in Mississippi's criminal justice system walked away with an HM, then the first prize must have gone to a story impacting the lives of millions of people in a fundamental way.
Really. Congratulations to Radley and Nick.
First place:
Richard Siklos, Fortune Magazine, "The Fight Over Michael's Millions."
Judges comments: This is a detailed, vivid and immensely readable account of Michael Jackson's finances that explores the business empire built by one of pop culture's most enigmatic figurespederasts.
Winner of the News/Investigative category in which Radley was a finalist:
sigh
double sigh
I haven't read the Siklos piece but to be fair, immensely readable means someone may have enjoyed it. As we all know, no one enjoys reading Balko. People just don't like nut punches.
An honorable mention compared to that piece of shit?
