Dog Gone
Cleveland Heights, Ohio, officials put down Zeus, a Rottweiler owned by Carolyn Baker. Baker had been found dead outside her home by her husband, and she had bite marks on her shoulder and arms. Police believed the dog mauled her, but family members said they believed Baker, who had a history of health problems, had likely died of natural caused and the dog may have tried to drag her to safety. A month after Zeus was killed, the coroner delivered his report. Baker died of a heart attack. The bite wounds weren't that serious and were probably caused by the dog's efforts to drag her back to safety. "The dog was trying to help her, really. There were very few actual dog bites, it was mostly [signs of] pawing," said coroner Frank Miller.
