Driven

Betty Burden, a school bus driver for Mount Prospect Elementary District in Illinois, faces drunk driving charges after being arrested following her afternoon route. One of her co-workers had smelled alcohol on her breath and reported it, but no one stopped her from leaving school with the children on her bus. Transportation coordinator Vince Ramirez did catch up with her on her route, but he says he didn't smell anything and she didn't appear to be impaired, so he allowed her to continue. But he did call police. They stopped her after she finished, and they smelled booze on her. She failed a field sobriety test and registered .226 on a blood-alcohol test at the police station.
